Hello my crafty friends
I love the Your Next Stamp Sunburst Panel die, so used it here with some pretty floral patterned paper to make my card share today. I usually take advantage of the fall away pieces to make a second card so that is what I did here too. Since I used flowers and butterflies, these cards work for the Fun Friday Challenge #113 at Your Next Stamp - How Does Your Garden Grow.
First up is the Mother's Day card. I love butterflies, and since I get so frustrated with my old Spellbinders die set I was thrilled to add this Lawn Fawn Layered Butterfly die set to my collection last month. I am a little fussy with my butterflies - I like certain shapes and not others. At any rate, you will be seeing this one a lot from me since I adore the shape, layers and sizes.
I die cut the top layer from turquoise, and the solid layer from gold card stock and a scrap of the floral patterned paper. Then I inlaid a few of the floral pieces onto the gold one for a different look. I saved the floral overlay butterfly to use inside.
Inside, I used just the centre portion of Karen Burniston's Oval Frames Pop-Up to add a pop-up mechanism at the top centre of my card. Then I layered another gold solid butterfly and the floral overlay piece on top. If I were to make this again, I would add the butterfly a little higher up on the mechanism arms so it opened wider when the card opens. But it's still pretty and I had fun playing with the Oval Frames Pop-Up to see if it would work as I wanted it to.
I used the same layout for my second card, cutting the Sunburst Panel Die from white card stock and inlaying the stitched floral pieces from the first card into the corresponding openings on the white panel.
I used folded strips of paper to make my own 'wobble' and the butterfly bobs and wobbles on the card front which is always fun. I spent some time searching for a way to make my own 'Action Wobbles' as I would like to use them more on my Nursing Home Donation Cards, but that would really add to the cost of my donations. Finally, I found this video on YouTube by Maymay and it was exactly what I was looking for. If you are interested in how I made my paper spring, you can check out her video HERE.
On the inside, I die cut a butterfly from the white stitched rectangle and again from a scrap of the floral paper. Then I inlaid the floral butterfly into the white panel. There is lots of room to write my note on the rest of the panel.
