Pair of Slimline Birthday Cards

I had been flipping through an older paper pad and pulled out a sheet that had lots of borders on it. They are perfect for adding to a Slimline card! The paper was cut to 8.25 x 3.25” so I would have an even border all around from the coloured card base, and I wrapped each panel with narrow gold tape for some birthday shimmer & shine.

The Happy Birthday was stamped directly on the patterned paper panel and both the balloons and the cupcakes got brushed with Wink of Stella for a little more sparkle. The panels were popped up onto the card bases with thin foam tape.

I really do like the colours in this paper pad and will be getting it out again soon.

Here is a peek at the inside - both are done the same and went into my Nursing Home donation bin. Love letting the patterned paper do most of the work for me.

Red Balloon Birthday Card Trio

Using what I had left of a 12x12” birthday themed patterned paper sheet, I made these three cards. They are based on the February 2020 Sheetload of Cards, but I tilted the center panel rather than centering it.

The sentiment was stamped right on the 2nd patterned paper, and I added a large die cut balloon with foam tape. The white lines were done with a white paint pen and the movement lines and balloon strings were done with a fine point black marker. Finally, I added puffy balloon stickers and the card fronts were finished.

Here is a peek at the inside … all three were done the same.

Three Nautical Themed Birthday Cards

I never seem to post things in the same order I make them … I had been working with an older paper pad to make some masculine cards for the nursing home and these three were actually the last ones I made. I will share the others another day.  The patterned paper is nice and heavy weight, many of them have gold foiled accents and they are semi glossy as well.

I was just using up some of the leftover strips and scraps in the paper package and I think they turned out cute. The Happy Birthday was stamped onto white scrap strips and popped up with foam tape. The inside of all three were stamped with the same image and these three were ready to go.

Birthday Card Trio

Hello friends - we had another busy week and I didn’t get any of my cards posted. I think things will slow down after this weekend though, once we get through Thanksgiving (we are hosting) and get our RV winterized and closed up for the season. We were hoping to get another couple of weekends in but the overnight temps are plummeting so that’s it until Spring. Sigh. I am SO not looking forward to the cold.

Today’s cards feature what could be my new favourite card layout. I tried it out when I had some leftover strips of patterned paper with various width’s. Eventually I settled on 2.5” width with a 2.75” mat. The length is as long as your card (or as long as you wish) - for these A2 sized cards they are 5.5” long. Now I know a lot of you will be feeling like a 2” strip would be a more efficient use of the paper, but that is not my goal. I have a ton of patterned paper in my stash and I know I will come up with a use for the leftover pieces after cutting them from a sheet of 12x12” paper.

I chose a stamped and matted circle for these cards, but really - most shapes will work and you can play around with placement and size. I changed the location of these circles depending on what parts of the patterned paper I didn’t want to cover up.

Below is a peek at the inside, with a narrow strip of rainbow paper cut into a fishtail banner to bring in some colour.

Four Floral/Butterfly Birthday Cards

I haven’t used this card layout in a long time - so I pulled out this older floral paper and made four Birthday Cards for my nursing home donation bin. The paper is double sided, so the teal strip is actually the reverse side of the floral. I stamped a sentiment onto white card stock and popped them up with foam tape.

I die cut two rectangles then cut them in half so I had one for each of the cards and I adhered them on the right side below the teal strip. The pretty butterflies are a die from Divinity Designs, and they were also popped up with foam tape after I added a dot of glitter glue to the centres.

Below is what the inside looks like - all four are done the same.

Several years ago, I mistakenly ordered 20 sheets of this patterned paper when I meant to order two. I’m still working on whittling it down, ha ha.

Label die - Stampin’ Up
Butterfly die - Butterfly Trio Divinity Designs

September Sheetload Birthday Cards (2nd round)

I had intended on posting this yesterday, but once again the day got away from me. This is my 2nd play with the September Sheetload and I think the cards turned out so cute! I can see me using this one again and again as you can really change up the look depending on what you add as your decorative element.

I did some stamping and colouring for mine - four of the card have this cute chick (MFT Stamps) and four have a hamster in a cupcake wrapper (Your Next Stamp)

Inside I added a sentiment from the Birthday Chicks stamp set and they all have a punched banner to bring a little colour inside.

Collage Style Birthday Cards

When I was poking around in a drawer of 12x12” papers, I found this single sheet with a collage of different patterns. I have no recollection of where I got it and it wasn’t included in a paper pad. But I liked the cheerful colours so decided to cut the sheet down and make some birthday cards for the nursing home.

I cut the panels to 4 x 5.25” and added a striped washi tape were the patterns intersected. The edges of the tape were wrapped to the back of the panel which secured them firmly as the panel got attached to the card base.

I stamped the Happy Birthday onto white card stock and punched them out before attaching them with foam tape. Finally, I added a dollop of Nuvo Drops.

Below is a peek at the inside, with all the of them done the same.

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - unknown, collage/colorblocked and only one 12x12” sheet

September 2025 Sheetload of Cards

Today I’m sharing my first play with the September Sheetload of Cards - and I quite liked it. After I got these ones cut, I pulled out additional sheets from the same (really old) paper pad so I could make another set. I’ll share those another day.

These went into my Nursing Home donation bin - I have needed to build up my stock for them! The label and ice cream cone are older punches from Stampin’ Up and I aded a stamped sentiment as per the Sheetload sketch.

Inside each card is a two toned stamped sentiment and a little fishtail banner for a pop of colour.

Birthday Wishes Card

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted! I have been making a few cards and even taken the photos - but getting them posted here then shared on social media has proven to be difficult these days. I guess I’m only willing to be on the computer so long in a day and my computer time has been used up doing other things. But I am going to try to do better at sharing, since my finished card photos are stacking up!

I’m starting out with this simple card created using a patterned note card (the yellow framed piece) and a journal card from my stash that I popped up with foam tape. I added some black Nuvo Drops for contrast & a puffy balloon sticker. Finally some glitter glue and this card was ready to be donated to my Mom’s old nursing home. (Looks like I forgot to take a photo of the card inside, or the photo got misfiled since it’s been so long since I made it).

Rainbow Stripe Birthday Card Group

These cards just make me happy! With everything going on in the world, I just need happy colours and I actually kept these out on my stamping desk for about a week before I took the photos - just so I could enjoy them for awhile.

The journal cards were cut from a 12x12” sheeet in my stash and I added some sparkle with Stickles glitter glue. After the cards were assembled onto the striped patterned paper and card bases, I added black Nuvo drops to some of them. I like how the black makes the other colours pop.

I think the nursing home residents will enjoy these happy cards as well.

Finally, here is a peek at the inside. All the cards have the same sentiment inside.

Mermaid Tail Birthday Card

I bought several boxes of printed note cards from Hobby Lobby several years ago when we were visiting Arizona. One of them is mermaid themed, so I pulled one out and cut it down to make this birthday card. While both the front and back of the note cards are printed, the foiled mermaid tails are only on the front side so I layered it with a different not card back panel for some contrast.

The sentiment was pulled from my plastic envelope - I make a whole bunch of them at a time, so I can just add one as needed. When the envelope looks like it’s getting low, I will spend an evening creating just sentiment strips!

Since the outside of the card was kind of fancy, I kept the inside simple with a large Happy Birthday. This card will be donated to my Mom’s old nursing home.

Two Floral Birthday Cards

I have had these floral note cards for several years - they are printed on both the front and back, so I cut one in half to give me two floral panels. After trimming the panels to 4x 5.25”, I added them to white card bases.

I had been going through my “in progress” bin and found these 3-d flower stickers that were already adhered to the die cut labels. I replaced the foam tape, since the foam squares that I had initially used were losing their adhesive, then added them to the card fronts with thin foam tape. The sentiments were stamped on a scrap strip of white card stock and I fishtailed the ends with scissors.

Here is a peek at the inside using a bold sentiment by Catherine Pooler.

Four Owl Themed Birthday Cards

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! Today I’m sharing four birthday cards made for my Mom’s old nursing home. The lovely owl panels are from Hunkydory’s Little Book of Farm Animals (or something like that) that I have had for several years. There are multiples of each print and the package is quite thick so I never feel I’m making a dent in it.

The only down side, is the paper is quite thin and has some shine to it - so adhesive shows on the front. A thin line of wet glue … even my ATC tape shows through to the front. So I only use 'Beacon 3 in 1' glue, which works great but dries up quickly. I think I may have to cut all the panels to fit A2 cards (they are UK sizing) and get them mounted to card fronts while the glue is freshly opened, I can complete the cards at a later date, but I won’t be wasting the glue - which is pricey here in Canada!

Hmmmm - I could also try die cutting A2 sized frames (I have a Lawn Fawn die that would work) and mount the panels underneath the frame. That would allow me to use regular adhesive, and I wouldn’t have to make up dozens at a time. More ideas than time, I’m afraid!

Once the panels were adhered to the folded card base, I stamped the sentiment on a card stock strip and mounted them with foam tape. Below you can see the sentiment stamped inside the cards.

Five Party Hat Birthday Cards

Earlier this month I shared a 5x7" Birthday card that used this double sided patterned paper (see HERE). I used the remaining piece and the measurements from the March '25 Sheetload of Cards to make these five birthday cards. This is my second play with that Sheetload and I know I will use it again!

Because the paper was double sided I was able to cut the pieces then flip the patterns around until I was happy with how they looked. I save the 1/2" strips of white card stock from when I cut down the card inserts (which measure 4 x 5.25") so that is what I used for the sentiment strips. I just fishtailed the ends with scissors and popped them up with foam tape.

Birthday Card Duo

II continue to whittle away at what crafting supplies I have so today's cards use up some leftover patterned paper from my cards HERE.  For something different I stamped the sentiment on fishtail banners (dies by Karen Burniston) and popped them up with foam tape.

I added some black Nuvo Drops as the card fronts needed a little something and then I was happy. Both cards will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home.

Birthday Card with Hearts

Today I'm sharing a quick and easy birthday card made with some older products in my craft room. The cute patterned paper was leftover from an Anniversary Card that will be shared another day. There was just enough for an A2 card front with a leftover strip for the inside - perfect!

The pretty stamp is from Studio Katia and it was stamped on a stitched circle & popped up with foam tape. It's hard to see in the photos, but I added some clear glittery dots with Pops of Color for some birthday sparkle.

Here is a peek at the inside:

Patterned paper - unknown & older from my stash, no cover sheet anymore.
