'Hello' Shutter Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!

Today I'm sharing my 12th card made using Paper Roses BEE HAPPY Cardmaking Kit. I made a Shutter Card using dies from Lawn Fawn and also added a couple of gold foiled bee stickers.

You slide off the belly band then open the side flaps to reveal the sunflower ephemera inside the shutter. I haven't made a Shutter Card since December, so it was fun to pull the dies out again.

I'm getting pretty close to finishing off that kit - and I sure have enjoyed it.

Supplies used:
Shutter Card die set - Lawn Fawn
Shutter Card Add On - Lawn Fawn
Gold foil bee sticker - Amazon .ca
Catherine Pooler Coloured Inks
White circle - leftover from an old card kit
Fluttering By sentiments - Waffle Flower
Tasteful Labels - Stampin' Up
Glitter Dots - Ecstasy Crafts

Dog Themed Shutter Card

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I'm sharing a dog themed birthday card.  I hadn't played with Lawn Fawn's Shutter Card die set for awhile, so that is what I used today. I pulled out some older patterned paper and stickers from my stash and this card will go to our grandson for his birthday.

When you slide off the belly band and open the sides of the card, the shutters also slide open to reveal the stamped sentiment.

I added a signing block on the back, with another stamped sentiment and strip of the patterned paper.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 Cards
April - 32 Cards
May so far - 41 Cards

Additional Supplies:
Yellow & white cardstocks
Patterned paper - Be Brave, Pink & Main (retired)
Transparency
Dog stickers - Paper Studio (from my stash)

Spring Shutter Card

Today I'm sharing another Shutter Card that uses a bunch of older items from my stash. I am really getting through that Easter stash this year!

The belly band is decorated with a butterfly that had been cut and assembled years ago. I store them in a binder in baseball card sleeves, and when I flipped through the binder I found both the embossed flower and the butterfly and decided to use them up.  The embossed flower is an old Sizzlet die that both embosses and cuts the flower. I have used that one a lot over the years!

When you open the card the shutters also open to reveal the sentiment and the cute fuzzy chick stickers. Those stickers are by Jolee's Boutique and I've had them for about 5 years. Managed to hoard them for the first couple, because they were just too cute to use. But I finished off the sheet this year!

I did add a scrap of acetate behind the circle opening so it looks more like a camera shutter.

Since there wasn't room inside to sign our names, I added a white panel on the back side that was decorated with stickers. I'm not thrilled with how those look but once they were attached there was no going back.

Embossed flower & butterfly - old, from my stash

Jolees Boutique - Fuzzy Chick stickers

Easter Bunny Shutter Card

I have been on a mission to USE UP a lot of my older Easter card making supplies, and created a couple of Shutter Cards with that in mind. This is the first one but I will have the other one in a few days. My card actually started with the Lawn Fawn Shutter Card die set and Add On. I really enjoy this die set and get a lot of use out of it!

Here is a quick video so you can see what it looks like opening and closing:

The stickers I used have been in the craft room for so long they didn't really have much 'stick' left to them! I used glue to adhere them to white card stock and fussy cut them out, which also gave them some stability.

I'm happy to say I finished off that entire sheet of older stickers and have actually made a huge dent in that Easter supply bin this year!

Halloween Shutter Card

Hello my crafty friends.  Mid August I had this patterned paper out to make a card for Karen Burniston's last release, and when I was done that card I realized I had enough leftover to create a Shutter Card. I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube:

I really like this paper - the purple stars and dots are flocked, or felted. The first photo is what the card looks like coming out of the envelope, and below you can see the card partially open.

When the sides are fully open the shutters reveal a cute spider.

Adding an acetate panel behind the opening, allows you to add embellishments on top to look like they are floating. That is what I did here with those tiny enamel dots.

Since there isn't a lot of room inside to write a message, I added a stamped panel on the back with a scrap of the patterned paper and a few more pieces from Doodlebug Designs.

I have quite a few items from Doodlebug Designs for Halloween, and will link them below in addition to what I used on this card.

Scrap 'N Stamp August Inspiration Hop - "Sunflowers"

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Scrap 'N Stamp Canada's August Inspiration HOP with a theme of Sunflowers!

The sunflower collection from Crafters Companion is so lovely - I am looking forward to seeing what the other Designers came up with too!  You can see the whole blog hop list on the SNS Blog HERE:  I chose the 6 x 6" paper pad and the Sunflower Wishes stamps to work with and was so inspired I made three cards in three different sizes. I have all the details in my YouTube video:

First up is the Sunflower Shutter Card, using dies by Lawn Fawn. Remember most of the supplies are available at Scrap 'N Stamp and they are also linked below for you.

The solid foiled butterfly was created using the negative foiling technique and I saved the blue outline butterflies for another card.

After you slide off the belly band, you open the panel and the shutters slide open to reveal the sentiment. I have so much fun with this die set!

Here are the butterflies again, this time foiled using a mini rainbow foil and these ones are the outline butterflies. I saved the reverse foiled ones for another project.

The sentiment and signing block was added to the back side - I love the size of the sentiments in the stamp set, and the great mix of fonts.

The next card is 4.25" square and fits in a standard A2 envelope for mailing. I stamped another sentiment from the stamp set onto vellum, but when the ink was fully dry I thought it was dried back too light. So I traced the letters with a brown fine point marker and liked it much better.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Finally, a Mini Slimline card - the papers are perfect for quick and easy cards. I added lots of shimmer to the panel with Wink of Stella, gold confetti and outlined the panel with a gold gel pen.

I tried to capture the shimmer, but it is hard on screen. It shows up in real life though!

Here is the inside of the Mini Slimline ...

Sweet Birthday Shutter Card

Hello my crafty friends.  I'm back with ANOTHER shutter card made using the Lawn Fawn Shutter Card die set. I am having so much fun with it - as soon as I finish one card I want to make another. 😊 I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube, including a tip on how I deal with card stock that cracks when folding.

This card went to our Nephew's little one, who was celebrating a birthday last month.

I added a sentiment block on the reverse side, and that is where we signed our names as well. The stamp set I used on the back is retired, and I thought MFT might have come out with a similar one but I was mistaken.

Birthday Cactus Shutter Card

Hello my crafty friends! Today I'm sharing another shutter card - this is one I sent to a friend for her Birthday. The patterned paper (by Lynda Kanase) is several years old, as are the clear stickers. The group of cacti & pots was a single sticker that was adhered to white card stock and fussy cut, then adhered to the Belly Band.

When you slide off the Belly Band and open the card - the shutters move to each side to reveal the stamped sentiment,.

The clear stickers from my stash worked out really well with the patterned paper!

I chose to decorate the inside panels with more of the patterned paper, but that didn't leave me with anywhere for a personal message. A stamped and decorated panel on the back solved that problem!

Shutter Card for Happy Mail

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog.  Today I'm sharing the second Shutter Card done with the Lawn Fawn Shutter Card die set. Now I rarely post things in the same order I make them, so while this is the second one I made it's the third one I've posted. In between I had been invited to join the Wild & Whimsy Inspiration Hop at Scrap'N Stamp and made one from mirror card stock. You can see that one HERE.  I will have another one to share next week, and have already made a couple of others. Yes, I am having lots of fun with this die set.

I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube:

Using the included die to create the Belly Band, I added the Hello & Shadow die cut from Karen Burniston. You slide off the belly band, and below is what the card looks like when it's open.

Since I was sending this to a friend for Happy Mail, I added a sentiment from Waffle Flower. I wanted her to know I was thinking of her.
