Peach and Blue Birthday Cards

I liked how these two papers coordinated, so I cut them to work on 5x7" cards and adhered the panels to card fronts. Then I went through my bins of embellishments to see if I already had what would work on the fronts, and I did!

Once they were added with foam tape, I stamped the sentiment on leftover strips of white card stock and fishtailed the ends. These were also popped up with foam tape.

The card above has a Peel Off sticker that had been adhered to card stock and water coloured then fussy cut. I've hung onto it for too many years so it felt good to add it to a card. I also added a few Glitter Dots for a little birthday sparkle.

I kept the insides simple and these cards were donated to my Mom's old nursing home! Since everything is older and from my stash, I didn't bother with a supply list.

Peeking Dog Birthday Card

I bought this ADORABLE dog stamp last Spring - and made this card right away. Then, didn't get the card posted OR use the stamp again so I will have to dig it out and resove that. For my first play with it I know I wanted to keep it simple and stamped it on a subtly printed panel.

I used a water brush and dye ink to add a little colour and outlined the image with a grey marker. The party hat sticker was adhered to white card stock and fussy cut so I could add it with foam tape.

Below is a peek at the inside ...

Since this card was made so long ago, I have a supply list! (I'm not keeping track of supplies anymore)

Supplies used:

You Hold My Heart In Your Paw - Picket Fence

Patterned paper - old, note card - printed on front

Best Birthday Yet - Catherine Pooler

Party Hat sticker - Paper Studio

Happy Birthday - Little Something Sentiments, Echo Park

Linen printed note card (old, from my stash)

Dog Sticker Birthday Card Duo

These two cards use up lots of odds & sods from my craft room! The patterned rectangles are actually the back side of a couple of journal cards that I wouldn't have used otherwise and I thought the bright happy colours would make fun birthday cards. I had a striped note card that I'd cut down into 3/4" strips for a different project so I added the extra pieces to the top and bottom of the cards.

The stickers were in my stash and I adhered them to white card stock & fussy cut them out before popping them up on foam tape. Finally, I aded a couple of stamped sentiments.

Below is a photo of the inside - both of them were done the same.

Back To School Card

Hello friends! Today is just a quick back to school card that features a raised up journal card on the front. The card is 5x7, which gave me lots of room to write a note inside to one of our grandkids. I bought the apple stickers year before last from Amazon Canada and it's a nice large package so I can add them at will - including the envelopes!

Everything used is several years old and probably retired by now so no supplies listed for this one.

Slimline Back To School Card

Hello friends …. Today I’m sharing a Slimline card made for our eldest granddaughter for going back to school. She truly loves school and the hardest part of her illness is how much of it she has to miss. The high school teachers help her keep up, by posting the lessons online so that makes her VERY happy.

She is on the Transplant List for a double lung transplant, and when the call comes in she will be in hospital for at least three months. She’ll be anxious about falling behind even though that would be the last thing on most teen’s minds.

I made good use of a 12x12” patterned paper sheet with school themed borders printed all across it. It was perfect for a slimline card and I have a bright red envelope to put it in. I added some shimmer and it looks like I forgot to photograph the inside though.

Since I had made supply notes, I can list them below:

Supplies used:

Patterned paper - I Love School, Echo Park

Twine

Rainbow Packing Tape, cut into strips

Apple Stickers - Amazon .ca

Braniac - Photo Play (You Rule)

Enamel Dots - Your Next Stamp

Pop-Up Slimline Father’s Day Card

In Canada, Father’s Day was back in June but I am very behind in posting so wanted to share this card and not hang onto the photos any longer. Since it’s Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, it seemed like a good time to share this card, which I made for my hubby.

As you can see, it’s a Slimline card and I started with this printed Slimline card panel by Whimsy Stamps. I die cut the bears and popped them up with foam tape, then stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of white card stock with brown ink. I used a stitched circle die to cut it out, attached it to the card with foam tape then trimmed off any overhang.

Inside I used the Little Twist Panel die set by Karen Burniston for the pop up inside as well as her Outdoor Edges for the details. The beaded border was an old sticker I found in my stash and I thought the colours were perfect.

Supplies Used:

Patterned paper - Enchanted Forest, Whimsy Stamps - Slimline …

Little Twist Panel Pop Up - Karen Burniston

Long Nature Edges - Karen Burniston

Outdoor Scene - Karen Burniston

Double Stitched Circles - Divinity Designs

Words - Something for Everyone, Catherine pooler

Sticker - the Paper Studio (Old, from my stash)

Bear Family Fancy Dies - Hero Arts

Back To School Shaker Card

This is a card I made for one of our grandkids for heading back to school this month. It’s a ‘Faux Shaker’, where the transparancy is folded around a journal card and secured at the back after adding some shaker filler. Then it was matted and added to the front of a 5x7” card.

NOTE:  I cut the transparency 1” larger than the journal card, in this case it’s a 4x6” journal card so the transparency was cut to 5x7”. I scored 1/2” on each side of the transparency then mitred the corners. Using a bone folder to ensure nice crisp folds of the transparency I used red line tape to attach it to the back of the journal card on three sides. That left me room to add in the sequins etc into the front side before securing the 4th side.

Inside, I added an apple sticker and a cut apart from some patterned paper in my stash. There was lots of room to write a note inside.

Supplies used:

4x6” Journal Card - stash, either Echo Park or Photo Play

Transparency

Sequins

Apple bits (filler)

5x7” card and envelope

‘Cut Apart’ I love School, Echo Park

Double Z Fold Birthday Card

It’s Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and today I’m sharing the Double Z Fold birthday card made for our eldest granddaughter. She is very interested in space etc, so I pulled out this very old paper pad for her card.

Below you can see the card open and standing for display.

I always like how nice and sturdy these cards are and I was able to make use of some border strips and other cut-aparts in the paper pad for decorating. The flowers, stars & moon were fussy cut and added as decorative elements.

There are a number of pages in the paper pad that contain four 6x6” panels. I rarely make 6x6” cards, but I cut one down for the front of the envelope and wrote her name inside the moon. Since we were hand delivering the card, I didn’t have to worry about anything catching in the mail so the fussy cut flowers were added with thin foam tape.

Supplies used:

5 x 6.5” card base & envelope - Michaels

Patterned paper - Moon Flower Magic, Craftsmart (old form my stash)

Large Birthday - Technique Tuesday

Self Adhesive Gem stickers - Dazzles

Stardust gel pen - Sakura

Two Teacher’s Aid Appreciation Cards

I have a number of cards that I created back in June that didn’t get shared and here are two more of them. These are 5x7” cards I made for the teachers aid’s. I let the patterned paper do most of the work, but added narrow gold tape to dress them up a little. One has a gold card stock shadow below the die cut Thank You and the apple stickers are from my stash.

This is an easy layout that would work for multiple card sizes and you can customize the top area to coordinate with whatever patterned paper you choose!

Leaving lots of room inside for the kids to write their own message, I added more of the narrow gold foil tape and another apple sticker inside each of the cards.

This is the second card - you can see the shine from the apple sticker in this photo.

Supplies used:

Patterned paper - I Love School, Echo Park

Narrow gold foil tape - Amazon .ca (old)

Simply Sentimental Teacher - Trinity Stamps

Essential Classic Words - Pinkfresh Studios

Gold card stock, Recollections

Apple stickers - Amazon .ca

Piano Teacher Slimline Thank You Card

Whoa - it’s been ages since I’ve posted! I took a lot of time off this summer, spending it with family and friends instead of in my craft room. Of course, we didn’t have great weather this summer so it would have been a perfect excuse to craft, but … … …

I did manage to make a few cards here and there - and even got photos of them, but haven’t yet shared them so I will have some new content soon. Meanwhile,  this is the card I made for our youngest granddaughter’s (amazing) piano teacher at the end of June and she said he loved it.  I used dies & stamps by Karen Burniston including the Music Charms for the Grand Piano. It got sprayed with shimmer spray and I popped up the lid with a black foam dot.

Inside is the Piano Keys Pop Up - how fun, right? Two of them fit perfectly inside a Slimline card and I left room for her to write him a note.

Side view so you can see that the black keys are raised above the white ones.

Supplies used:

Patterned paper - Guilded Ink, Recollections

Piano Keys Pop Up - Karen Burniston

Music Charms - Karen Burniston

Mini Slimline Teacher Appreciation Card Duo

I like to make our grandkids their Teacher Appreciation Cards each year - here in Alberta the kids don’t start school until September and they go until almost the end of June. I made two of this one, as one family’s school is in a completely different county than the other.

The apples are stickers I bought last year from Amazon and there are a lot in the package so I use them freely - including on the envelopes! The Mini Slim background die is from Taylored Expressions and I still get a lot of use out of it.

This year I left the cards blank inside - other than the apple sticker - because the grandkids are old enough now to write a thank you message rather than just sign their names. I thought that would make the cards more personal for their teachers.

Supplies used:

Patterned paper - I Love School, Echo Park

Apple Stickers - Amazon .ca

Mini Slim Square Window Cutting Plate - Taylored Expressions

Sentiments - Simply Sentimental Teacher, Trinity Stamps

Mini Slimline Tri Shutter Mother’s Day Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog! I’m very late sharing this Mother’s Day card I made for our eldest daughter, but better late than never.  I used the Mini Slim Tri-Shutter die set from Divinity Designs for the card base and layers and their gorgeous patterned paper as well. I chose this paper because she loves peonies. She also loves Highland Cows!

The adorable Highland Cow on the front is actually a sticker that I attached to white card stock then fussy cut so I could pop it up with foam tape. I made a little box using a die by Karen Burniston to add the rest of the sticker package into as part of her gift, and she didn’t mind at all that I had chosen one of the package to use on her card.

The Happy Mother’s Day and Shadow dies are both by Karen Burniston and I cut the Happy Mother’s Day portion three times and stacked them for a chunky sentiment. Easy peasy since I was hand delivering this and didn’t need to worry about weight or thickness going through the mail.

Supplies used:

Patterned paper - Floral Favorites, Divinity Designs

Mini Slimline Tri Shutter die set - Divinity Designs

Scallop Circle dies - Divinity Designs

Blending Brushes

Crinkled seam binding - Stampin’ Up

Happy Mother’s Day & Shadow dies - Karen Burniston

Birthday Wishes Card

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted! I have been making a few cards and even taken the photos - but getting them posted here then shared on social media has proven to be difficult these days. I guess I’m only willing to be on the computer so long in a day and my computer time has been used up doing other things. But I am going to try to do better at sharing, since my finished card photos are stacking up!

I’m starting out with this simple card created using a patterned note card (the yellow framed piece) and a journal card from my stash that I popped up with foam tape. I added some black Nuvo Drops for contrast & a puffy balloon sticker. Finally some glitter glue and this card was ready to be donated to my Mom’s old nursing home. (Looks like I forgot to take a photo of the card inside, or the photo got misfiled since it’s been so long since I made it).

Supplies used:
Patterned note cards - Paper Studio
Inside sentiment - Large Birthday, Technique Tuesday
Puffy Balloon Sticker - Pebbles
Pops of Color, Black - Scrapbook .com
Stickles glitter glue

Cactus Card Duo

Earlier this month I shared four 5x7” Pop Up cards (see HERE) and there were some leftover pieces of the patterned paper. I made these two A2 sized Birthday cards (as well as a 5x7” Get Well card that I will share another day).

The cactus stickers were adhered to white card stock with glue, since they are older and they were losing their adhesive. Then I fussy cut them out so I could layer with them foam tape.

The cute polaroid frame is another older die (from Your Next Stamp). I cut a slightly smaller piece of white card stock than the frame then added some blue with a blending brush and blue ink. That was adhered behind the frame to visually anchor the stickers and the frame was matted with turquoise card stock.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Both cards have already been sent off to friends who were celebrating birthdays!

Supplies Used:

Patterned paper - Desert Dream, Recollections (old from my stash)

Stickers - Sticko (old from my stash)

Pop Up Anniversary Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!  Today I’m sharing a fun pop-up card made for our eldest daughter and hubby for their anniversary. I found this patterned paper in my stash - there was no cover sheet, so I don’t know who made it, but I love the colours so that is what inspired the start to my card.

Both the scribble heart and the love are older dies by Stampin’ Up.

Inside is all the fun, with Karen Burniston’s Photo Fan Pop Up. I added lots of hearts using dies from her Heart Collage Pop Up and a leftover photo I had printed back when I did hubby’s birthday card in December.

The Happy Anniversary is a sticker printed with my little Nimbot printer …  a gift Santa left for me under the tree and I just love it.  There was lots of room on the right side of the card for us to write a message and the card was hand delivered with love.

Supplies used:

5 x 6.5" card & envelope

patterned paper - old, from my stash. No cover sheet anymore!

Heart Collage Pop Up - Karen Burniston

Rainbow Holographic cardstock - Michaels

Two Floral Birthday Cards

I have had these floral note cards for several years - they are printed on both the front and back, so I cut one in half to give me two floral panels. After trimming the panels to 4x 5.25”, I added them to white card bases.

I had been going through my “in progress” bin and found these 3-d flower stickers that were already adhered to the die cut labels. I replaced the foam tape, since the foam squares that I had initially used were losing their adhesive, then added them to the card fronts with thin foam tape. The sentiments were stamped on a scrap strip of white card stock and I fishtailed the ends with scissors.

Here is a peek at the inside using a bold sentiment by Catherine Pooler.

Supplies used:

Floral note card - front and back

Labels & Stickers - many years old, found in my stash. K & Co

Sentiment - Be Happy, Twice The Wishes, MFT Stamps

Pops of Color, Snowflake - Scrapbook .com

Happy Birthday - Little Something Sentiments, Catherine Pooler

Doggie Birthday Wishes

I had a couple of patterned paper scraps sitting on my stamping desk so combined them to make a panel for the front of a birthday card. When I had rooted through my stickers, I found a sheet of dog face stickers as well as these Kraft labels, so combined one of each as the focal point on my card front.

Finally, I added a stamped & matted sentiment and my simple card front was done.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Supplies used:

Since I used lots of scraps and leftover bits, my supply list is limited.
