Autumn Greetings Zig Zag Card

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and I'm sharing a card made with a new die set - the Zig Zag Card Essential set by Studio Light. I was placing an order from Ecstasy Crafts and 'somehow' added a couple of new die sets to my shopping cart in addition to the Glitter Dots I was ordering. 😂. Since the die creates a fun fold card, it's also the September edition to my monthly series "New Fun Folds I have all the details in my YouTube video

Below you can see the card open and likely how it will be displayed ...

I like how the card folds up for mailing and this one fits in an A4 envelope (sized for a 4 x 6" photo), but if I didn't already have some I could easily make my own or size up to an A6 envelope.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Platform Pop Up with Goats

This card is the September edition of my monthly series "Platform Pop Up" Cards and was the birthday card I made for our eldest daughter. The goats were coloured to mimic her two goats - Clover & Thistle. Our Grandson was staying here when I was making the card and he was so excited about those goat stamps, and that they could be coloured to look like their goats. 🥰.

The barn die is from Your Next Stamp and the size was perfect to add to the Platform Pop Up. I also added a punched cloud on the backing piece. I wasn't sure I would use that Add On, and resisted it for a long time. But I did snag it when there was a sale and I do like using it - but I especially like that I can make the Platform Pop Up without it if I choose.

Below is the back of the card and where we signed our names. I added a black Peel Off sticker for the sentiment. The little banner was die cut from white and coloured with markers before attaching to the card and I liked the pop of colour they provided.

I'm always happy with how flat these cards fold down for mailing - but we hand delivered this one.

Dog Sympathy Card

Three friends have had to say goodbye to their dogs in as many months ... and then I heard that another friend did as well That's four furry kids gone - enough already! Today I'm sharing another pet sympathy card that I sent to one of my grieving friends.

This card started with a printed panel (the bulldog) from the Little Book of Muddy Paws by Hunkydory. Their dog wasn't a bull dog, but I loved the soft florals on the panel so that is why I chose it. I created a 5 x 7"  Z-fold card with dies inside by Karen Burniston.

Balloon Birthday Card

Back in February I had purchased this beautiful birthday themed Washi Tape from Pinkfresh Studios, and about the same time the folks at PFS had done a feature that mentioned that Washi Tape has a shelf life. Well - that wasn't obvious to a lot of us, judging by the comments on Facebook that I saw. People all over were grabbing their rolls of PFS wide Washi and adhering it down to cardstock. I was one of them. 😂

Not one to waste a pretty foiled image, this partial balloon was on the starting edge of the Washi Tape. I hadn't purchased the stamp & die bundle for the Washi - just the tape itself. So I fussy cut two images from the tape and added them to a stitched panel then to a card front. Since this was going to my Mom's old nursing home, I was free to add layers of foam tape!

The water coloured background is actually a printed note card. I purchased a set of them so I could use their pretty prints on my cards. The balloons have gold foiling on them and I added some gold Glitter Dots for additional sparkle.  Below is a peek at the inside...

Eight Mini Slimline Cards for Thanksgiving

This year I really wanted to USE UP this older 6x6" paper pad by Lawn Fawn and today I'm sharing the final cards made with it. YAY and WHEW.  It always feels so good to use up a paper pad!

I went through my fall embellishments, and pulled out a baggie with these printed and fussy cut animal elements. I don't know where I got the file from originally as these were printed a long time ago. But since I will need five Thanksgiving cards for the grandkids, I decided to go ahead and just use up the paper and most of these elements. I'm happy with how they turned out.

The elements had been printed on glossy photo paper so they have some shine - and I punched a sprig from gold cardstock scraps on the outside and scraps of green patterned paper for the inside.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

'That Paper' Magic Iris Card

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today I'm sharing the 9th edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards".  I chose 'That Paper', which is from Hobby Lobby in the US. We don't have Hobby Lobby in Canada, but a lovely lady sent me some as a Random Act of Kindness and I think of her every time I use the paper. I just love it!

When you pull down on the lever, the shutters open to reveal the stamped sentiment. I used the Scalloped Circle Add On, which is my favourite way to use the Magic Iris Die set. A hummingbird cut from gold mirrored cardstock and a gold matted, stamped sentiment and my card front was done.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Eight Wreath Cards for Thanksgiving

Last week I shared a Pop Up Slimline card and tutorial, and in the video I talked about this patterned paper and how I wanted to USE IT UP this year.  Since I still need a bunch of Thanksgiving cards, I pulled out the June 2021 Sheetload of Cards (which is another favourite) and a VERY old wreath stamp set. Here are the cards I came up with ...

I stamped the wreath on the circle that would go onto the card front, then - without re-inking, I stamped it again on the envelope. This 2nd generation stamping gives a lighter impression. I repeated that with all of the wreath layers. Then, I pulled out my favourite dot stamp - a peg stamp - and added some dots.

The gold foiled bee stickers were added to the front, inside and envelopes for a bit of shine. While I finished these before my new Thanksgiving sentiment stamps arrived, I think I will leave them without anything inside and handwrite a greeting to the person I'm going to send them to.

September Sheetload Christmas Cards

Today I'm sharing my September Sheetload of Cards. This month is a special Sheetload - not just because it is for 5 x 7" cards (!!!) but it is also Alicia's 50th Sheetload! Amazing ... and I will have a link to the September Sheetload at the end of my post.

Even though I stepped down from the Sheetload Collaboration Team, I still enjoy doing the videos & have all the details of my cards on YouTube

I enjoy making 5 x 7" cards, so was particularly happy with the September Sheetload. I pulled out an older pad of paper and decided to go ahead and use full panels instead of the strips that following the Sheetload creates. I love that you can use the sketch as a guide and still create finished looking cards. I also wanted to USE UP as much of the paper a possible, as I have had it in my stash for too long. Two of the cards are pop up cards and I'll show those first.

As I said in the video, I added the pieces incorrectly on this first card but made it work anyhow. I also made it a pop up!

Inside I used Karen Burniston's new Twist Flower Pop Up to animate a flurry of die cut snowflakes.

The second pop up card is in a horizontal format since there was a 6 x 12" sheet of this patterned paper sitting in the package and I wanted to use it up. Love that you can rotate sketches to make them work for you!

Inside is another die by KB ... the Little Labels Pop Up. I added die cut snowflakes and a stamped sentiment inside.

The paper pad also had cut-aparts and I used a number of them on my cards. The one below was matted on gold to pick up the gold foiling in both the patterned paper and the cut apart.

Below is a peek at the inside, and all the remaining cards were done the same.

Three Winter Cabin Holiday Cards

Today I'm sharing the 9th edition to my monthly series "12 Months of Christmas". When I had the paper out for last week's Barn Pop Up Christmas Card, I spied this winter cabin paper and knew I wanted to make cards with them. There are three of each design in the 6 x 8" paper pad (which looks to be retired).

Trimming the panels down to fit the front of the 5 x 7" Kraft card bases, I started poking around in my holiday stamps to see what else I wanted to use.

The deer, cardinal (and bunny inside) are all from another retired stamp & die set and the sentiment is from Penny Black. The cabin, fence & fox on the envelopes are (retired) stamps from last year's Stampin' Up Christmas Mini Catalogue.

When the front panels were cut down to fit the card base, there was a 1" strip leftover. I added that to the left side of a white panel on the inside of each card. Then I stamped the sentiment, cardinal & bunny and my cards were finished.

I made these cards with specific friends in mind and I think they will enjoy them!

Masculine Faux Step Birthday Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! Today I'm sharing the birthday card made for our son, who enjoys fishing & camping. I actually made this card back in early summer but didn't want to share it until after his birthday.

After making hubby's Father's Day card I had a number of cut-aparts leftover. I pulled out these two to use on our son's card (and a third one ended up on his Gift Card Holder but no pics of that) then pulled out this older patterned paper package by Echo Park. The package has papers and stickers and I used both on the card.

This one is another Faux Step card and I quite like making this type of fun fold. They are very easy to customize for size - this one is a 7 x 5" card, but I have also done a Mini Slimline version and there are tons of tutorials online for an A2 sized card. I will list the measurements I used at the end of my post.

When I made the Father's Day card, I mentioned an accordion folded strip that really helped to keep the card from collapsing. I have a thing about sturdy cards, and having them stand for display. Having received Step Cards in the past I noticed after a short time on my sofa table they started to sink down. That is part of the reason I never made them or purchased a Step Card die set. That doesn't happen with these Faux Step cards, especially with the accordion piece added between the largest folds.

No tutorial, but here are a couple of photos showing placement.

Below are the measurements I used if you are wanting to try it. There are lots of Faux Step Card tutorials on YouTube as well.

NOTE: I added an accordion fold cardstock strip, between the centre and back pieces and right along the bottom edge in the centre. See photos for placement.

Card Base - 9 x 7 scored at 1.5, 3 and 6. Use the above photo as reference for the mountain and valley folds.

Folded Top Piece -  10 x 4" scored at 5". This can be adjusted depending on how tall you and/or wide you want it to be.

Accordion folded brace inside - 4 x 1", scored at 1, 2 and 3"

White cardstock for personal message on back -  6.75 x 2.75"

Give Thanks Flip Card

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today I'm sharing another card made with Sam Calcott's 'Flip Mechanism'. It actually creates two frames but in her tutorial she shared that you could use just one if you wanted and that is what I did here. I love getting more looks from a single die set!

Because I used the same patterned paper for both the background and the frame, this card doesn't look like much in the above photo. But the pull frame lifts away from the card front to reveal a sentiment! This shows up much better in real life.

Every year I pull out this patterned paper pad, use a few sheets on my cards then back it goes for another year. So it's taking a LONG time to use it up, ha ha. Both of the cut aparts on the card front are included in the paper pad and I also pulled out some OLD stickers from my stash to decorate the front.

Here is a look at the inside. I have had these rub-ons for YEARS ... they were originally from Stampin' Up's clearance rack so I thought it was time to use them. They came with two sheets,  one in brown and one in white, so I added the white rub ons to the envelope.

I loved being able to use up so many items from my Thanksgiving Card Bin on this card!

Three Interactive Thanksgiving Cards with Apples

I found these three card bases and the already-cut patterned paper &. mats in the "In Progress" bin. Who knows what happened that I didn't get to finish the cards, or why they've been in that bin for YEARS. But when I saw them in there I decided to finish them off. Since the apple print would match my new apple dies, I was off & running.

I have a walkthrough of my cards on YouTube

Since all the patterned paper was already trimmed and I couldn't remember my original plan I just added some narrow gold tape and gold peel off border stickers to the mix. It was fun to use my new Thanksgiving stamps as well.

This card has a simple box pop up inside for a little something extra.

Using the Stitched Apple Frames, I created a sweet shaker for another card.

I enjoyed the soft colours in this patterned paper and I'm happy to have the cards finished and ready to send!

The third card has a pop up inside using Karen Burniston's new Twist Flower Pop Up. I'm going to have so much fun with that one!

One more look ...
