Peeking Animal Birthday Cards

I have a lot of patterned paper. A LOT. And most of it is old but I'm making an effort to USE UP as much of it as I can. I'm also being realistic about the sheets that I hang onto because they came in the package or paper pad but I doubt I will ever use. I hope to cull a whole bunch of those 'ugly' papers in 2024.

When looking for something else, I pulled out this 12 x 12" patterned paper package that I have used off and on for several years. There were lots of partial sheets and scraps so I decided to see if I could actually use it up. And I did! Today I'm sharing the first group of cards I made with the papers and I'll be donating these birthday cards to my Mom's old nursing home.

I haven't used these fun animal stamps for a very long time, and while I don't normally enjoy colouring I pulled out my alcohol markers and did some basic colouring on these ones. I think they make such cheerful cards! Below is the inside, with all the cards being done the same.

I'll be sharing another set of birthday cards using this paper next week.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - boy something, unknown
Pops of Color
Happy Birthday - Stylish Sentiments Birthday, Papertrey Ink
Sentiment inside - In & Out Birthday, Taylored Expressions

Embossed Floral Birthday Card

Back in October I shared a Mini Slimline sympathy card made with this Slimline embossing folder. I decided to pull it out again and make an A2 sized card with it. After running my cardstock through with the embossing folder I lightly rubbed dye inks onto the raised portion with blending sponges. It's soft and pretty and I was happy with the effect. Quick and easy, too!

Adding a stamped sentiment strip and some glitter dots my card was finished and ready to pop into my nursing home donation bin. I've shown my plastic envelope before in YouTube videos -  it's chock full of birthday sentiment strips. I just make a whole bunch in an evening so I'm not sure of which stamp I used on this one. I just like having them stamped, die cut and all ready to add to a card front.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Trio of Birthday Cards

Today I'm sharing a trio of birthday cards that I discovered in my 'In Progress" bin. Well, the patterned paper panels were in there, all cut to size. I pulled the papers out, decided on the layout that I must have been imagining when I did the cutting (years ago) then added some narrow gold tape for shine.

Cutting Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday & shadow dies from both gold mirror cardstock and white, I completed the card fronts. I also finished off a sheet of Peel Off stickers from my stash, with the gold party hats. These catch the light and show up better in real life than in the pics.

Here is a peek at the inside and all three cards were donated to my Mom's old nursing home.

I decided to cancel the subscription that provided linked thumbnails to what products I used on my cards. It was costing me out of pocket each month, so I’m back to listing what I used.

Patterned paper - old, from my stash
Narrow gold tape - Amazon .ca

Scrap'N Stamp Birthday Bash Inspiration Hop

Hello my crafty friends! I'm excited to say that I am joining the Scrap'N Stamp Whimsy Inspiration Hop this month and the theme is Birthday Inspiration. Scrap'N Stamp is celebrating 14 years and they are celebrating with a Weekend Sale: Save 14% on select birthday items (Offer valid 03/04/2022 - 03/07/2022)

I made two cards for the hop and have all the details in my YouTube video:

This first card is a great layout to make multiples of AND use up scraps of patterned paper. I combined both the Birthday Cupcakes and the Birthday Banner sets for this 'Clean and Simple" card. There is a surprise though - the cupcake is actually peeking through a circle opening!

The cupcake was adhered inside the card, and I stamped a greeting that is hidden until you open the card.

After colouring with Zig Clean Color Markers, I went over the top of the cupcake with glossy accents and set it aside to dry overnight.

Cutting an aperture in the front of your card is an easy way to elevate a simple card.

For my second card, I used the Birthday Wishing stamp set from Colorado Stamp Company.

This one is a Z Fold card that is also a Trifold and it also has a surprise inside ...

... it's a Gift Card Holder!

I used the Diagonal Gift Card pocket die set for the pocket, taking advantage of the layering piece to stamp another one of those adorable critters. The banners are from Hampton Art's Birthday Banners - they make great sentiment and signing blocks too.

There is also a sale
