New Years Mini Slimline Card Trio

Hello! - since it's the last day of the year, I am sharing three cards I made to celebrate the New Year. Let's hope that 2022 is better to our world than 2021 was ... I had such high hopes last year this time. That being said, I'm very thankful that our family had a good year, with our health and lots of happy times & memories.

All three cards I'm sharing today are Mini Slimline cards are 3.5 x 6.25" and I used the Celebration Mouse Edger die by Creative Expressions. The layout is fairly basic but it was fun and I do love the shine from the mirror card stock. For the first two I cut the edger from white and adhered it on top of the blue mirror panel which was the same size as the card front.

The words were penned with a blue marker and popped up with thin foam tape. Since I can't link the mirror card stock I used on these cards, I linked other ones that I have in my craft room.

Here is a peek at the inside - both of them are the same, with a scalloped Mini Slimline die by Divinity Designs. The Cheers! and wine glasses are dies by Karen Burniston and everything that is available is linked below for you.

For the third card, I did the opposite - cutting the Celebration Mouse Edger from red mirror card stock and mounting it to the front of a white Mini Slimline card base. The fallaway stars from all three images were scattered onto the cards and adhered with glue.

Inside I combined dies by Karen Burniston to create the sentiment.

Note Card with Butterflies

Hello!  My card today is a simple note card using an older patterned paper package and some new butterfly products. 😊  The 12 x 12" paper package is called "Flower Market' by Carta Bella and it included a couple of sheets of journal cards/cut aparts in various sizes, and a sheet of stickers along with the patterned papers. I've had it for about 3 years, and I'm determined to USE IT UP so you will be seeing a number of cards with these papers in the coming weeks.   I had made a pop up birthday card, which I will share in the New Year, and the pieces used on this card were leftovers. I did a little snipping & trimming, and came up with a note card I can send for happy mail.

The butterflies? They are new to my craft room. I have waited MONTHS to purchase the stamp, die and layering stencils by Pinkfresh Studio. But there was always one of the three out of stock. Finally I just went for the layering stencils and die, and will keep my fingers crossed that the stamp comes back in stock at some point. There are 4 stencils in the set, and I used Catherine Pooler inks (linked below) and blending brushes to add my choice of colours. You do a 5 x 6" sheet - 9 butterflies! - at a time. There is a single die that cuts out all 9 with one pass. Can I just say how much I LOVE them? I added the antenna with a grey marker - quick and easy, but I look forward to getting all the additional details the stamp will give the butterflies. ***EDITED TO ADD that the butterfly stamp came back in stock and is on it's way to me now. YAY!

Oh, and the words were already printed on the journal card.

Inside - another of the butterflies (remember you get 9 at a time) and a pretty scalloped oval to write a note on.

I have made two more sets of butterflies as well, using different colours and have them all shimmered and sitting in a little bin waiting to embellish future cards.

Floral Mini Slimline Sympathy Card

Hello friends.  While making sympathy cards is not enjoyable, I do like being able to take care in the elements I choose while thinking about the recipient and their grief. For this card I made a Mini Slimline card with white pearlized card stock. Then I layered two different Mini Slimline dies by Kat Scrappiness that were cut from white card stock. The pretty florals are actually die cut from Washi Tape - the Joyful Bouquet set by Pinkfresh Studios. I just love the soft and pretty water coloured look with the touches of gold. Everything that is available is linked below for you.

Here is a peek at the inside, with a detailed Mini Slimline die from Gina Marie Designs. I added a stamped sentiment and another one of the Washi Tape florals pieces. This Washi Tape is just over 4" wide, so you adhere it onto white card stock or vellum and then use the coordinating die to cut all the pieces out with one pass through your machine.

Even with all the different floral pieces I added to the card, I didn't use up a full repeat of the pattern on the Washi - so there are plenty of repeats on a single roll. There are also coordinating stamp and layering stencils, so if you run out of the Washi you can always stamp, die cut and stencil! I love the versatility in these Pinkfresh Studio sets.

I forgot to mention the floral piece on the envelope. It's on a roll, similar to Washi but it's not self adhesive and it's made of paper. I have had it for years, and can't remember where I even got it! But I thought it made a nice lead in for this card, which was hand delivered to a friend.

August 2021 Sheetload of Cards - a Christmas Version

Hello!
Today I'm sharing another Sheetload of Cards using the August Sheetload**. This one is a definite favourite and I have used it multiple times since it was first published**. I love this patterned paper, which I picked up at Michaels several years ago. I had it out to make the card I shared yesterday and when I looked at the 12 x 12" sheet of snowmen I figured I could fussy cut them out and use them as embellishments. That was all it took to jumpstart this set of eight cards.

Since I have been using this pad a fair bit there are some smaller bits and pieces, so I did use one of those scraps on two cards ... this snowman print. I simply cut them into a rectangle and matted them with more of the cream card stock.

The snowmen are so cute, and it didn't take me long to fussy cut six of them to mount on the cream oval. Everything that is available is linked below.

I didn't need any more Christmas cards to send out this year, but I like to work ahead for the following Christmas so it isn't such a rush come next November/December. These ones will go into the bin for Christmas 2022!

**You can check out the Call Me Crafty Al's YouTube channel to see how you can download your own Sheetload of Cards - every month she provides a different one and the Collaboration Team shares their take on it as well. I have a label on the right side of my blog "Sheetload of Cards" (or click HERE) if you would like to see more samples.

If you celebrate it, I wish you & yours a lovely Christmas!

Dog Slimline Christmas Card

Hello!  Today's Slimline card is the one I made for our veterinarian & staff. Our dogs have vaccines that come due in December, so I always bring the vet clinic an edible gift and a hand made card.

The dog dies are by Marianne Designs, I've had them for a couple of years and I love how you can make different dog 'breeds' with the one die set. For this card I didn't use the body or tail dies, but instead have them peeking out of the Crafty Meraki background die.

I added die cut snowflakes, the Merry Christmas & shadow and snippets of the Holly Pattern Plate - all dies by Karen Burniston and linked below. The patterned paper is long retired but it's one of my favourite 12 x 12" holiday pads. After I finished this card, I decided to go ahead and use this paper for another Sheetload of Cards and will be sharing those tomorrow. 😊

Inside I added the Giant Thanks So Much (Lawn Fawn) as Dr. KD and her staff took SUCH good care of our furry kids this past year.

'Jingle All The Way' Slimline Card

Hello!  I have been working at using up a 12 x 12" sheet of journal cards from Photo Play, and this will be the last one of 2021. I used one of the  4 x 6" cards, trimmed it slightly smaller so I could mat it and add it to the front of a Slimline card. Of course, I dressed it up with some adhesive backed snowflakes and Wink of Stella for shimmer.

The snowflakes were included on the 12 x 12" sticker sheet. I adhered them to white card stock with wet glue and then fussy cut them out.

Inside, I fussy cut the Holly Jolly out of one of the smaller journal cards/cut aparts on the sheet and added it to the inside with some more plaid paper and a few more stickers. While the papers etc I used aren't available anymore, I did link some others by Photo Play for you.

'Merry' Slimline Pop Up Card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a shiny Slimline card I made for Christmas, using mostly older dies in my stash. I will link anything that is available (like the pretty slimline background die by Divinity Designs). I cut that background die from a variegated metallic card stock and it has such a pretty shine to it. I love that in a holiday card.

The 'Merry' and two of the poinsettia layers were die cut from red mirror card stock with the middle layer and holly leaves cut from gold. The sprig was cut from a different section of the same metallic card stock as the background and everything was layered onto a crosshatch oval by Karen Burniston. A few red and gold sequins and the front was done.

Here is a peek at the inside, where I added a simple box pop up and layered ovals with a stamped sentiment. The scalloped border dies are from Scrapbook.com ... I think I ordered those this summer and I was able to link them below. It looks like they have some new Slimline border dies that I will be adding to my collection soon. I do love border dies!

I didn't do a tutorial on this pop up, but will link my YouTube video for the last one I did for creating a simple box pop up HERE.  The strip I started with was only 1/2" wide for this one - it's a technique you can play with to make it work for your card size.

Penguin Window Pop Up

Hello!
Today's share is a wintery window penguin card that is also a pop up. I used several different dies by Karen Burniston and I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube:

The patterned paper is REALLY old, from my stash and I don't think I have ever paired it with silver mirror card stock before. I like it!

Inside is the Katherine Label Pop Up. The largest label was cut from the blue snowflake patterned paper and turned vertically before adhering it behind the white one, then several die cut snowflakes were adhered to that. I checked after each addition to be sure that they remained inside the outer edges of the card when it was closed.

I love all the height and dimension you get from the Katherine Label Pop Up!

Hello Santa Half Shutter Card

Hello!  I used the Half Shutter Card With Layers die set by Divinity Designs for my card share today, with the second half of the deep red 12 x 12" sheet of card stock on the first plaid Half Shutter Card shared HERE.  The die requires a minimum of 12 x 5.5", but I just cut my 12 x 12" sheets of card stock in half at 6" to make it easier on myself. 😊 I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube

The plaid paper and cut apart are from Photo Play's Mad For Plaid series but I couldn't find it to link for you. Everything that is available is linked below though, and I did find a different plaid paper package to link.

The journal cards (or cut aparts) were matted on red card stock, and the stickers were on a sheet by Photo Play that I purchased at the same time as the papers.. I adhered them to white card stock with glue, then fussy cut them out.

Love that Karen Burniston has a shadow die for her Merry Christmas and I used both of them here.

These cards fold flat for mailing, and fit in a standard A2 envelope. They also display very nicely on a table.

Poinsettia Mini Slimline Card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a Mini Slimline card that I made to use up leftover bits created from making other holiday cards. To create the burgundy matting layer for the label shape, I cut the base layer again from burgundy and cut it in half horizontally. Then I adhered each piece behind the green/cream one, separating them in the centre slightly until I had a bit of burgundy peeking out above the top and bottom edges.

Here is a peek at the inside, with a Stampin' Up sentiment .

Christmas Z-Fold Card Duo

Hello!   It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and today I'm sharing two Z-Fold Christmas Cards created using plaid papers and cut aparts from Photo Play.

I dressed up the first cut apart with Wink of Stella for shimmer & shine, and added the Greetings from Karen Burniston's Word Set 3 Holiday.

Inside is a stamped sentiment from Lawn Fawn and everything that is available is linked below for you.

The second card also got some shimmer with a Wink of Stella pen and the Happy Holidays is one of the stickers on the coordinating 12 x 12" sheet.

The inside was done pretty much the same.
