Father’s Day Card/Gift Card Holder

It’s Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and since I didn’t get it shared back in June I’m sharing a Father’s Day card/gift card holder. We were pressed for time so I combined the two and our son-in-law was still quite pleased with it.

I cut a black card stock panel to 6.5 x 4.5”, then centred the Grassy Grove and die on that. I added scenic patterned paper in behind then wrapped a narrow gold tape around the bottom edge. The panel was secured it down to the 5 x 7” card base leaving an even white border. The stamped sentiment was popped up with foam tape and I added a couple of glitter dots for some subtle sparkle. Finally, I added a stamped and die cut deer from the Grassy Grove set.

I used a gift card pocket die inside, which comes with the layering piece. I just moved the layering die around on a patterned paper scrap until I liked what I saw. The large Treat Yourself is a stamp I’ve had for a couple of years and I love how bold it is.

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - Water Colour Landscapes 1.1, Paper Rose
Grassy Grove (stamps and dies) - Stampin’ Up
5x7” card and envelope
Happy Celebrations - Studio Katia
Glitter Dots
Gift Card Pocket - MFT Stamps
Treat Yourself - Pigment Craft Co

Father’s Day Card/Gift Card Holder

It’s Masculine Card Monday here on my blog!  Father’s Day really snuck up on me this year so I was scrambling to get cards made. But I did it - with a few days to spare! In the interest of saving time, I made two of the cards with gift card pockets inside and I think they turned out cute. I’ll share the second one another day - this one was made for our son-in-law. It’s a 5x7” card and the leafy die cut frame ended up working perfectly for the 6x6” patterned paper I wanted to use!

The Happy Father’s Day was done with my Brother Label Maker and attached to a 1/2” strip of white card stock then popped up with foam tape. Since I was hand delivering them I didn’t need to worry about them being too bulky to go through the mail.

This family is going on a 9 - 12 month sabbatical in August, so there really isn’t anything they want. They are busy getting rid of things, so I added cash into the pocket so he can treat himself to several nice coffee’s as they get ready for this big adventure.

Supplies used:
5x7” card and envelope
5x7” Foliage Frame, Kat Scrappiness
Patterned paper - Watercolour Landscapes 1.1, Paper Rosse
Gift Card Pocket - MFT Stamps

Four Owl Themed Birthday Cards

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! Today I’m sharing four birthday cards made for my Mom’s old nursing home. The lovely owl panels are from Hunkydory’s Little Book of Farm Animals (or something like that) that I have had for several years. There are multiples of each print and the package is quite thick so I never feel I’m making a dent in it.

The only down side, is the paper is quite thin and has some shine to it - so adhesive shows on the front. A thin line of wet glue … even my ATC tape shows through to the front. So I only use 'Beacon 3 in 1' glue, which works great but dries up quickly. I think I may have to cut all the panels to fit A2 cards (they are UK sizing) and get them mounted to card fronts while the glue is freshly opened, I can complete the cards at a later date, but I won’t be wasting the glue - which is pricey here in Canada!

Hmmmm - I could also try die cutting A2 sized frames (I have a Lawn Fawn die that would work) and mount the panels underneath the frame. That would allow me to use regular adhesive, and I wouldn’t have to make up dozens at a time. More ideas than time, I’m afraid!

Once the panels were adhered to the folded card base, I stamped the sentiment on a card stock strip and mounted them with foam tape. Below you can see the sentiment stamped inside the cards.

Five Party Hat Birthday Cards

Earlier this month I shared a 5x7" Birthday card that used this double sided patterned paper (see HERE). I used the remaining piece and the measurements from the March '25 Sheetload of Cards to make these five birthday cards. This is my second play with that Sheetload and I know I will use it again!

Because the paper was double sided I was able to cut the pieces then flip the patterns around until I was happy with how they looked. I save the 1/2" strips of white card stock from when I cut down the card inserts (which measure 4 x 5.25") so that is what I used for the sentiment strips. I just fishtailed the ends with scissors and popped them up with foam tape.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Nautical Birthday Card Duo

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! I really wanted to finish off this older Paper Pumpkin kit (July 2019) so here are the final three cards. Well, I'm only showing two of them - I made three but popped one in the mail before I got the photos taken. 😊

I actually stuck pretty close to the instructions that came with the Paper Pumpkin kit, which is rare for me. But I quite liked this one! The stamp on the card fronts came in the kit and I used up the last two of the navy map lined envelopes on these two cards.

When I shared the first cards I made earlier this month (see HERE) I liked the stamps used inside so kept them on my stamping desk to use on these ones too.

Essentially the kit has been used up. There is one card base left that I will use to make a quick Z-Fold card and will share that once it's finished.

Trio of Birthday Cards

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! Today I'm sharing a trio of birthday cards I can donate to my Mom's old nursing home and once again they were inspired by the June 2021 Sheetload of cards. I had gone through this older 6x6" paper pad and the coordinating ephemera and made up little 'kits' that I could just pull out and assemble. A lot of the 'kits' used the June 2021 Sheetload of Cards which is a great one for using those 6x6" papers.

I just kept making up the 'kits' until the paper and most of the ephemera was gone, then I decided on card bases to add to the 'kits'. I've been picking away at the 'kits' and completing the cards.

Here is a peek at the inside - they are all done the same. I used my Mini Misti to make quick work of the stamping, which always helpful with a larger stamp.

Supplies used:
Hexagon punch - Stampin' Up
Sentiment inside - Birthday, Darkroom Door
Patterned paper - Let's Celebrate, Carta Bella (6x6")
Let's Celebrate Ephemera - Carta Bella
Stickles glitter glue
Mini Misti

NOTE - I am no longer linking the Sheetloads, as some of them have been archived for her channel subscribers and I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase. 😊

Trio of Birthday Cards

I thought I was done with this 6x6" patterned paper pad, but apparently I had set aside 'kits' to work on later 😂   Most of those 'kits' used the June 2021 Sheetload of Cards for cutting the patterned paper & the intended layout. Since I'm also trying to use what I have, I pulled out these old felt stickers and added them to the cards on a die cut oval. The sentiments were stamped on card stock strips & popped up with foam tape.

All three of these cards will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home and I believe there are three more 'kits' for me to make up. I have to work at building up my nursing home card stash again, as after delivering the last ones I'm fresh out!

Supplies used:
Sentiment inside - Birthday, Darkroom Door
Felt stickers - from my stash, very old.
Birthday Wishes stamps - Honeybee Stamps
Patterned paper - Let's Celebrate, Carta Bella (6x6")
Let's Celebrate Ephemera - Carta Bella
Sentiment inside - Lots of Birthday2Stamp, the Stamps of Life

Photo Fan Pop Up Birthday Card

I had SO much fun making this card and I couldn't wait to give it to my hubby for his birthday.  I used Karen Burniston's new Photo Fan Pop Up die set - actually all the dies I used on this card are hers. 🥰

We had been visiting Arizona, so I followed Karen Burniston's video instructions on having the collage photos printed at Walgreens. I don't know if we have the same options at photo places in Canada, but I'm going to have to check because ... how FUN!!  I kept the front nice and simple because all the fun is on the inside.

Ta Da!  Honestly, I looked at the dies and thought those little 1" photos would be almost invisible ... but nope - everyone is easily recognizable and each picture brought back such happy memories.

Needless to say, he loved his card. I haven't had much crafting time lately but I look forward to more playtime with this die set in the coming months.

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - Prairie Hill, Pink Paisley (old, from my stash)
5 x 6.5" card and envelope - Michaels (old, from my stash)

Sheetload Birthday Cards with Stars

Since I'm still trying to build up my Nursing Home Donation Card stash, I pulled out an older Sheetload and even older patterned paper for these six cards. It's the February 2020 Sheetload and I have used it multiple times.

The sentiments were stamped on leftover strips of cardstock then I added a stitched star cut from black card stock. Six more cards done!

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - DooWop Diddly Wink. - the Paper Studio
Washi tape sentiments - Your Next Stamp
Star from Circle Charm Pop Up die set - Karen Burniston

Four Silhouette Birthday Cards

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog!  I need to get a bunch of my nursing home donation cards done, so pulled out these sports themed panels and got these four cards  made. The panels are from the Big Book of Sports by Hunkydory, and I don't think it's available anymore. But there are a ton in the pad so I'm all set. 😊

They are a UK size so I trimmed them down to 4x 5.25" then added them to a white A2 card base. The stamped sentiment was added with foam tape for a little dimension. I have a plastic envelope filled with these sentiments, so I can just go through and pull some out when I'm ready to complete a card.

The insides are very simple ... all done the same.

Supplies used:
Little Book of Sports -  Hunky Dory

Postage Themed Pop Up Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!  Today I'm sharing the birthday card I made for our Great Nephew and I used Karen Burniston's Postage Pop up for the inside.

It's a quick and easy pop up to assemble and you can use it as a base for all kinds of things, not just the included cool postage dies. I also used three of her new stamp sets as well - I love that they are sized perfectly for those spaces.

It's hard to see in the photo's but the black postage 'base' was cut from glossy card stock and I like the shine that gives. This was my first play with the die set, and I probably should have watched KB's assembly video first. The little paper airplane actually folds - which I should have known it would, I mean - she thinks of everything - but I sort of creased mine on the folds and added a light pencil line in those folds.

Bar Mitzvah Pop Up Card

Our daughter asked if I could make them a Bar Mitzvah card and this is what I came up with. The card started with gold foiled blank cards that I got from Stampin' Up last year, and I added some gold foil card stock and gold foil tape to tie it in. I love the coordinating gold envelope!

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up (which has become such a favourite of mine) to animate a die cut stitched circle. The circle was decorated with a gold foil Star of David and a stamped Mazel Tov. More gold foil tape to complete the inside of the card and give them lots of room to write a message.

Supplies used:
Card & envelope with gold foiling - Stampin' Up
Gold foil paper - Recollections
Stitched Rectangles, set 1 and 2 - Pink & Main
Swiss Dots embossing folder
Tiny star stamp - 8 Happy Nights, CAS-UAL Firdays
Gold gel pen
Words - Mazel Tov, Papertrey Ink

'Boat Pop-Up' Birthday Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!  Today I'm sharing the pop-up birthday card I made for our son (who likes to fish).

This was my first play with the Boat Pop-Up, a die set by Karen Burniston. There are Add-On's that can turn it into a Sailboat or even a Pirate Ship, so that will be fun. When using a die like this for the first time, I tend to keep my cards fairly simple but I know my son will love it. He inspects his cards very closely and notices all the details. 😊

Either Karen B herself, or someone(s) on her Design Team used the Camping Charms with their Boat Pop-Up card and I thought it was a great match. I added the fishing hat inside the boat and used rainbow holographic cardstock for the fish. This die set is going to be fun to play with some more.

The card is 5" square, and I put it in a square envelope that was decorated with stamps from a retired Stampin' Up set. Since the card will be hand delivered, I don't have to worry about bulk or extra cost for mailing with a square envelope.

... one more look ...

August '24 Sheetload of Cards

Today I'm sharing my take on the August 2024 Sheetload of Cards. I actually finished these cards on the 2nd, but it took awhile to get the photos taken and I also have a walkthrough on YouTube.

This month's Sheetload yields eight cards, and I used the leftover patterned paper for two more. So I ended up with 10 cards! (Note - the bonus cards are shown in the video, but I didn't take photos of them).

Above you can see how I made six of the cards - these ones will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home. I took two of them to make pop up cards for my stash, using dies by Karen Burniston.

The Twist Flower Pop Up is such a fun pop-up die set, and works on a variety of card sizes. I made my cards into wide A2 (5.5 x 4.25") since I don't like top folding cards for my donation cards as they tend to collapse.

Ball Cap Birthday Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! I am so happy with today's card AND that with the strip of patterned paper I USED UP that older 6x6" paper pad I've been working on. Woot!!!  I guess when you have paper pads that you pick away at for years and years, eventually you get to the point where there aren't many sheets left in them. I've been able to use up a couple of pads already this year and I love that. Usually I feel like my patterned paper supply is never ending, that it must multiply on it's own overnight

I have had this Hats Off bundle for a couple of years and definitely don't use it enough. I really enjoyed making this card and have kept the set out to use again. But I keep getting pulled away with florals, since it's summer so .....

The hat was stamped on white card stock then die cut. I added the colour with a water brush dipped onto the lid of the ink pad. I probably should have used water colour paper but I'm a lazy stamper and used what I had close by. In the end, I loved the worn look but doubt I can replicate it a second time.

This one is going into my stash!

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - Boy Oh Boy, Carta Bella (6x6")
Hats Off Bundle, Stampin' Up

Game Controller Birthday Card

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog and today I'm sharing a birthday card for my stash. I've been working at using up this older 6x6" paper pad and was down two three 2x6" strips (and lots of small scraps). I used two of the strips for this card and saved the final one for a card to share another day.

Once again I used the Game Controller die - it just worked so well with the patterned paper, how could I not?

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Four Boyish Birthday Cards

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and today I'm sharing four more cards using an older 6x6" paper pad I'm trying to use up. The two with the star paper will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home and I'm keeping the two with the game controllers for my stash.

I used the June 2021 Sheetload of cards for the sketch and cutting guide for these cards, and linked it below for you.
