This card uses Karen Burniston's (retired) Pop 'n Cut system, where the BigZ Steel Ruled Die (6 x 12") die cut the A2 card base with rounded corners. Then you could swap out different inserts to die cut the Pop Up inner card. I loved that system and still have all the dies! So it was lots of fun for me to make this card, using older and much loved supplies.

Woodland Pop Up Christmas Card Duo
Hello crafty friends ...
Today I'm sharing a pair of Pop Up Christmas cards that feature both new and older items from my stash.,
I have a walkthrough of my cards on YouTube HERE.
I had just received my (first!) online order from Michaels, which included these adorable chipboard stickers. Sitting on my stamping table were the two pop up inner cards and since the new embellishments worked perfectly, I decided to finish off both cards.
The first card has a stitched snowflake, a gold foil JOY, snowflake and border strip as well as these cute work boots.
I loved getting these pop ups into cards and using up some older items from my stash. I also loved getting those pretty new embellishments and am proud of myself for cracking into the package and USING some right away instead of hoarding them because 'they are new and too nice to just use up'. Ha.

Pop 'n Cut Birthday Card
The patterned paper has lovely pearlized bits in it that catches the light when you turn the card. I loved this Stampin' Up bird punch when it was first released many years ago and I still love it. I used an older Karen Burniston die set for my card base and the pop-up inside ... the Pop 'n Cut collection was from when KB was licensed with Sizzix.
The die cut label inside is also an older one from Karen Burniston and seeing it again here makes me want to pull it out. I used to use it SOOOO much! It's a BigZ die though, the thin metal dies are just so much easier to use which is why they are so much more popular. That and the storage issue - these BigZ dies do take up room!
Here is a side view so you can see the Pop-Up a little better.
I don't remember who I made and sent this card to ... and of course the notes on the supplies used are long gone. My style has also changed since this card was made! At the time I was happy with the card but now I look at it and think it's WAY too plain! If I were to re-do it today, it would have more layers and some sequins and ...

Puppies and an Eagle ... Two Masculine Birthday Cards
It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I have a pair of cards to share today. First up is a card that I found in my 'In Progress Bin'. The base card and Pop-Up inside had been cut but for some reason I didn't complete the card and just put the pieces into the bin.
I had to make a birthday card for a friend, so went through my bin of embellishments and came across this sweet water coloured puppy. I remember when Els came out with these Peel-Off's at Elizabeth Craft Designs - I immediately bought two packages of them. For my card I adhered this little fella to one of Karen Burniston's Crosshatch circles and added that to the card front. There is no greeting on the front, as Pop-Up cards tend to be displayed open anyhow.
The inside piece was cut with an older KB die set - the Pop 'n Cut Circle Label which comes with the Pop 'n Cut base. As I mentioned, these pieces were already cut and sitting in my bin and once out again I was determined to use them. A second Puppy Peel Off fit perfectly between the two cut away flourishes on the card base, and Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday was added to the Pop-Up portion.
Since I was in the 'lets get this finished' mode, I picked up this patterned paper that was leftover from a different project. There was just enough to cut it to 4 x 4" then cut it in two with a diagonal slash. This is such a great layout and there are so many ways to decorate the centre area.
Peel-Off's - Elizabeth Craft Designs

1030 Happy Birthday - Karen Burniston

1057 Circles, Crosshatch - Karen Burniston
Stitched Fishtail Banners - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Water Colour Paper
Action Wobble

Butterfly Pop-Up Thank You Card & Gift Card Holder
I love the soft and pretty colours in this paper. The flowers are glittered, so I added more sparkle with glitter paste and a butterfly stencil. Then I added a layered die cut butterfly - the white layer is actually a frosted vellum.
For the inside, I used more older products from my stash ... Karen Burniston's Pop 'n Cut A2 base with the Sassy Label insert and coordinating framelit dies.
The layer below the die cut 'thanks' is also frosted vellum, and I added another layered butterfly and more stencilled & glittered butterflies.
I used a Sizzix BigZ XL die to cut the gift card holder. There is a little flap & notch to hold it closed, and the gift card fits inside right on the cardboard backing! I added some bling and a die cut flower.

Floral Thank You Card with Gift Card Holder
I love the bright sunny colours on this patterned paper, paired with the pops of black.
Inside is an older Pop 'n Cut die - and some new flower/leaf dies. I also added some black Peel-Off border stickers.
The Gift Card Holder is perfect for those gift cards that come on a cardboard backing. The whole thing fits inside and there is a flap and notch to hold the card closed.

Hugs Pop-Up Card and Matching Gift Card Holder
I was also in the mood to use some Big XL dies so pulled out Karen Burniston's Pop 'n Cuts for the card and a Sizzix Card with flap for the Gift Card holder. The front of the card has layered labels and a die cut flower with a gem in the centre. They were going to be hand delivered, so I wasn't worried about bulk and extra postage.
Inside I used the A2 Pop 'n Cut base with the Funky Label insert and a die cut HUGS.
The white panel gave my Mom lots of room to write her note and I added another layered die cut flower.
The gift card holder used the same papers, flowers and Hugs die. There is also a notch that holds the flap closed. I like this size as often gift cards (in Canada, anyhow) come on a cardboard backing card. This way the whole thing can be inserted inside without having to take it off the backing card.

Three Pop-Up Christmas Cards
For many MANY years, I worked ahead on my holiday cards. It started when I was on a roll one year and finished far more than I needed. I put them away for the following year, so when it was time to work on my holiday cards I could do so with no stress as I knew mine were done and I was working on the ones for next year. I loved working on my cards during the busy season as card making is my stress relief. I also loved not HAVING to work on them.
Things changed this past year though, when I decided to work on my holiday cards throughout the year. I have these three to share then I promise no more Christmas cards for a month or two. But I will be sharing holiday cards throughout the year because I love making Christmas cards! I also really like having them all done when it's time to get them ready to send out.
For these three, the card bases and inserts were in my I'n Progress bin', with the acetate embellishments ready to be attached. I added some word printed washi tape below the acetate pieces and the card fronts were finished.
The insides were also cut and in the 'In Progress bin', and I was poking around in the bin and found these Cricut cut embellishments as well. So I used them here and finished off the cards with die cut labels and stamped greetings.
Card #1:
I stamped a little pine tree from Wild Whisper on each bottom label.
Card #2 ...
And card #3 ...
There were glittery accents on all of the patterned paper used
Out of the bin and sent out this year. Woot! I certainly did well working out of that bin this year, and also using up a bunch of patterned paper packs that only had a little bit left. Hopefully there will be room in the drawer for a new paper stack next year because of it.
