Stocking Shaped Card

Today I'm sharing the 12th edition to my monthly series "Shaped Cards".  This was a fun series and I will be making more shaped cards in 2024 as well!

For this one I used the Stocking Fold-its dies from The Stamps of Life, which I have had for several years. In fact, when I bought it, Stephanie was still designing for Sizzix ... now it's available on her own website TSOL.  I used an embossing folder on the burgundy piece to give it some texture, and rainbow holographic card stock behind the bow. The sentiment is one of the Simple Strips from Taylored Expressions and there is glittery washi tape (also old) on the envelope flap.

Below you can see the sentiment stamped inside. The candy cane die was included with the Stocking Fold-Its set.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June - 34 cards
July - 56 cards
August - 106 cards
September - 61 cards
October - 51 cards & 5 Tags
November - 46 cards
December so far - 14 cards (& 16 simple tags)

I decided to cancel the subscription that provided linked thumbnails to what products I used on my cards. It was costing me out of pocket each month, so I’m back to listing what I used.

Plaid patterned paper - Flannel Shirt, Photo Play
Stardust Glitter Pen - Sakura

Snowman Shaped Card

Today I'm sharing the 11th edition to my monthly series "Shaped Cards". I used the Snowman Fold-Its which is from the Stamps of Life. I've had it for many years, so I don't know if it is still available but I do know they have a LOT of Fold-Its dies available and also a monthly club if you love making shaped cards.

For this one I cut the base twice from white cardstock and scored a horizontal line about 1/2" down from the top hat on the back piece. Adding adhesive ABOVE that score line gave me a card that opens but also stands nicely for display.  I just attached the front and back pieces together above that score line and the card base was done. The layers for the body were cut from white pearl cardstock and I added Wink of Stella to the coal pieces for a little more shimmer.

I positioned the arms so the card would fit in the envelope and added some punched snowflakes along with one mirrored heart sequin.

I stamped a sentiment inside along with a few snowflakes.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June - 34 cards
July - 56 cards
August - 106 cards
September - 61 cards
October - 51 cards & 5 Tags
November so far - 18 cards

I decided to cancel the subscription that provided linked thumbnails to what products I used on my cards. It was costing me out of pocket each month, so I’m back to listing what I used with a few affiliate links included.

Fold-its from the Stamps of Life
White pearl cardstock
Copic markers
Wink of Stella
White gel pen - Sakura
Scraps of cardstock
Stickles
Punched Snowflakes - stash
Heart Sequin - Kat Scrappiness
I believe I chose an A4 or A6 envelope and added some VERY
OLD patterned Scotch Tape along the envelope flap.

Watering Can Sympathy Card

For the 6th edition of my monthly series "Shaped Cards" I pulled out the Watering Can Fold-Its from the Stamps of Life and created a sympathy card. I knew I wanted to use this polka dot patterned paper in grey, and the rest of the card came together quickly.

I have always loved the daisy punches from Stampin' Up (two sizes) and the coordinating stamp set. Here I stamped them in Catherine Pooler's Twilight ink and punched them out.

You can see I added Nuvo Glaze to the flower centres so they are raised and shiny, then I pulled out some greenery dies and scraps of green cardstock for the leaves. A stamped sentiment & a little bling and the card front was finished.

I trimmed off the inside back - just a sliver - along the bottom edge so the card will stand for display.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards

June so far - 17 cards

White cardstock
Daisy stamps - Daisy Lane, Stampin' Up

Cupcake Shaped Card Duo

For the second instalment in my Monthly Series with Shaped Cards, I am sharing a cupcake shaped card duo today. One is a Birthday card that will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home.

I stepped up the second one and turned it into a Valentine card! I have had this Cupcake Fold-It's die set for many years and it creates a card that fits into an A2 envelope.

One more look ...

I have been asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Cheerful Flower Shaped Card

Today I'm sharing a shaped card, which is the first one in my new series "Shaped Cards". If you would like to know more about my new monthly series click ***HERE***.  This one could also qualify for the series Throwback Fun Fold Cards, as it uses an older die set from The Stamps of Life.

I got it a few years ago, when we were travelling and away from my Mom. I sent her lots of cards for Happy Mail and made a number of them with this Flower Fold-Its. By the time we got home, she had a whole bouquet of flower cards on her sofa table and it looked so cheerful. It's been far too long since I've used this die set, and that is part of the reason I started these different series.

My Mother In Law has recently moved into assisted living, and I know she will be missing her garden. I will be sending this to her to brighten her day. The sentiment is a VERY old one from Stampin' Up.

A couple of times recently, I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since a lot of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.
2023 Tally:  51 Cards

Additional Supplies:
Flower Fold-Its - the Stamps of Life
White cardstock
Whimsical Words - Stampin' Up (long retired)

Watering Can Card for Spring

Hello my crafty friends. Today I'm sharing the first card made with the Watering Can Fold-Its  from the Stamps of Life. I added the Happy Spring cut from a pretty green pearlized card stock, then florals from the April 2021 Blessings Box from Divinity Designs. The extra leaves were die cut long ago and I had them in my stash.

A couple of butterflies and some shimmer 'n shine and the card front was finished.

Here is a peek at the inside, with a stamped sentiment on a stitched oval. You can see the little hinge I used to attach the front and back pieces to create the shaped card. While you can create a shaped card by using the main die on folded card stock & keeping the fold line from cutting with the die, I wanted to try it this way first. 😊

Additional Supplies:
Patterned paper - Recollections
Grey fine point marker
Extra leaves - old, from my stash. Possibly Elizabeth Craft Designs
Pink cardstock
Green pearl cardstock
White card stock - Accent Opaque Digital Super Smooth (Amazon .ca)
Big Bold Easter - Taylored Expressions (retired)

Stocking Fold It Holiday Card

Hello my crafty friends

I don't play with this Stocking Fold-Its nearly enough, so when I received this lovely foiled patterned paper as a gift I decided to use it with the Stocking Fold-Its for a Christmas card in non-traditional colours.

Here is a peek at the inside ... and the card stands open on itself.

Supplies:

Stocking Fold It's - Stephanie Barnard, the Stamps of Life
Blue and vanilla card stock
Patterned paper - Brightly Gleaming, Stampin' Up
Sakura gold gel pen
Gold embossing powder
Stamps inside - Merry Christmas to All, Stampin' Up

Gift Shaped Birthday Cards

Hello my crafty friends

Today I'm sharing a set of Gift Shaped Birthday Cards. Two will be donated to my Mom's nursing home and the other two I will save for when our daughters need birthday cards for the grandkids to take to birthday parties.

This is an unusual colour combination for me to use, but I have to say I love it!

I made these top fold cards, which I don't normally like because of their tendency to collapse and not display nicely. To get around that I didn't cut the Gift Fold-Its on the fold, instead cutting two of the bases. I scored 1" below the top on the back piece and added adhesive ABOVE that score line. Then I joined the two pieces together. Works perfectly and these cards stand tall with no collapsing on the table.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Back to School, Echo Park
Blue, White, Red and Yellow card stocks
Gift Fold-Its - Stephanie Barnard (The Stamps of Life)
Words inside - Papertrey Ink
Tiny tag - Scrapbook.com
Crop-o-Dile - We R Memory Keepers
Happy Birthday - MFT Stamps
Bakers Twine

Two Flower Shaped Cards

Hello my crafty friends

Today I'm sharing a pair of Flower Fold-It cards!

I am still building up my depleted stash of Thank You Cards, so this one is for my stash. I added the circle 'thank you' from a different Stephanie Barnard set and I like how the bright white stands out against the stencilled pink flower layer.

I love pink and orange together - I have to remember to use that combination more! I also added some enamel dots in white to this one. The green is a lovely pearlized card stock - I used the same card stock for both cards.

The next card is one I sent to my Mom to let her know I was thinking of her. I stencilled onto the yellow layer, then trimmed the 'love you more' from it's circle frame and added that to the centre.

A few more enamel dots and my card was ready to go.

Both cards open from the side. You have your choice of a side or top fold card when you use the Fold-It's but I'm not a big fan of top fold cards. While I like the LOOK of them, I do not like that they slide and collapse making them hard for the recipient to display and enjoy.

Supplies:
White, yellow, pink, orange and purple card stocks
Flower Fold-It's die set - Stephanie Barnard (the Stamps of Life)
Flower stencil - The Crafters Workshop
Green pearl card stock
Card, Rounded with Circle Drop-Ins - Stephanie Barnard (the Stamps of Life)
Enamel Dots - Doodlebug and Echo Park

Butterfly Shaped Card

Hello my crafty friends

This was the first time I used this Butterfly Fold-It's die set, and I think it turned out cute. The main die cuts an A2 sized butterfly shaped card. I kept it simple this time adding some sparkle with glimmer card stock body & antenna as well as sequins.

I wrote my Mom a short note and popped it into the mail for her.

It looks so nice on her hall table - the light captures all the sparkle in the body and antennas, and the sequins shimmer as well. Another one of those cards that is just better in real life.

Supplies:
Butterfly Fold-It die set - Stephanie Barnard, the Stamps of Life
Pink and white card stock
Patterned paper - Pebbles
Glitter card stock - Stampin' Up
Sakura White Gel Pen
Seam binding
Sequins
1046 Charm Pop-Up (heart) - Karen Burniston
Nuvo Glitter Drops
Spectrum Noir Glitter pen

Birthday Cupcake Card Trio

Hello my crafty friends

Today I'm sharing a trio of Cupcake cards that I made to donate to my Mom's nursing home. I used a Fold-It's die for the cupcake, but instead of making a folding shaped card I added the cupcake to sparkly card bases.

The circles were each inlaid with the fall away pieces from the other cards and I added some glitter glue too.

All three were done the same inside:

Supplies:
Cupcake Fold-Its - Stephanie Barnard, Sizzix & the Stamps of Life
Patterned paper - DCWV
Sakura white tel pen
Stickles
White card stock
MISTI - My Sweet Petunia
Inside stamps - MFT Stamps
Fine Point markers
Happy Birthday Banner stamp and die set - the Stamps of Life

Gift Shaped Birthday Card

Hello my crafty friends

Today's share is a Birthday Card, made with one of the die sets I purchased on Black Friday. I have been enjoying the Fold-It Cards by Stephanie Barnard and I knew this one would get a lot of use between the cards I make for our Grandkids to take to birthday parties and the birthday cards I donate to my Mom's nursing home.

This is the first time I used the dies and I'm tickled with how cute this card is. It fits perfectly in an A2  envelope.

I used a small tag die from Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-Up die set, tying it on with Bakers Twine.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

... and the view from the back ...

I think this die set will make some really cute holiday cards too, and I am looking forward to playing with it some more.

Supplies:
Gift Fold-Its - Stephanie Barnard, the Stamps of Life & Sizzix
Black, White and blue card stocks
Patterned paper - Crafts
Black fine point marker
MISTI - My Sweet Petunia
Stamp inside - Papertrey Ink
Bakers Twine
1009 Twist Panel Pop-Up (small tag) - Karen Burniston

Four Pink Cupcake Fold-It Cards

Hello my crafty friends

I have had this Cupcake Fold-Its die set for awhile, so it was time to pull it out again and make some cute Birthday Cards.

I added sparkling sequins and a little bit of glitter glue, and the patterned paper is nice and sparkly too.

Rather than cut the base with a fold at the top, I cut two bases and scored the back one about 1" down from the top edge. Adhesive was applied ABOVE the score line, then the card front was adhered to the back panel.

These went together quickly, and I put two aside to donate to my Mom's nursing home and the other two will go to our daughters for when the grandkids to go birthday parties.

Supplies:
Cupcake Fold-Its - Stephanie Barnard, Sizzix
White, pink and green card stocks
Patterned paper - DCWV
Stamps - Stampin' Up
Sequins
Stickles

Cake Fold-Its Birthday Card

Good morning friends

Today's card uses another one of my Black Friday purchases - the Cake Fold-It's die set by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix. You can make this a top fold or side fold card, and without the candles it easily fits into an A2 envelope. I really wanted to use the candles though, so will use an A6 envelope instead and it would still mail for a single stamp.

You can see here that I made it a top fold card.

Since it's a birthday card, I added some glitter glue to the icing and candle flames.

This will be going into one of the card bags I donate to my Mom's nursing home.

Supplies:
Pink and white card stocks
Patterned paper - Queen & Co
Cake Fold-Its die set - Stephanie Barnard (Sizzix)
Corner Chomper
Copic markers
Stickles
Word stamp inside - MFT Stamps
Nuvo Crystal Drops
