'You Are A Treasure' Sneak Peek Card

Today is the day the Design Team can start sharing sneak peeks of Karen Burniston's upcoming release! Above you can see the whole release, which will be shipping February 20th. Meanwhile - I hope you enjoy what the team is sharing.

I love how well all of her dies work together, so I pulled in several others to work with the new release and actually started with the Cupcake Pop Up. You can disguise the cupcake part, as I did here with the Treasure Chest. On this one I had to trim off the top part of the cupcake icing as it did stick up above the Treasure Chest.

Lots of shimmer and shine on this card, from the mirrored card stock. 😊

My top folding card is sized 4-1/2 x 6" and fits into an A6 envelope. The new Beach Borders are so fun - here, I cut them from a pink mirrored card stock. I used scraps of metallic mirrored cardstock for the coins and jewels in the treasure chest as well.

The treasure chest lid doesn't pop up, it's more of a 'lift flap' feature on the card. But since you see both sides, I snipped one of the crabs from the crab border and added it to the top of the chest.

The new Rectangles and Labels Crosshatch have label dies that coordinate with the Label Charm Pop Up, so I added one of them as a place for the sentiment.

I have been asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Pop Up Grandparent's Day Card

Hello my crafty friends.  I always send my Mother In Law a Grandparents Day card ... but sometimes I cut it close time-wise. This year I wanted to be ready ahead of time so made my card early. Now I can have it ready to send out in time next month!  I used several different dies by Karen Burniston as well as cute papers and ephemera from Doodlebug Designs.

Inside is the Cupcake Pop Up! I get a lot of use out of this die set, simply by covering up the cupcake shape it becomes a generic pop up with an additional 'step' or platform. I wrote the message with a fine point marker and went over the letters with light shades of alcohol markers for a bit of colour.

This card is sized at 5 x 5.5" and fits in a 5 x 7" envelope for mailing.

Three Fold Flap Mini Slimline Cards - with NO LEFTOVER SCRAPS!

Hello my crafty friends. I am SO excited to share this idea with you - it came to me as I was drifting off to sleep one night. The next morning I tried it out and ... BINGO!  Three fun fold Mini Slimline cards made with three coordinating patterned papers ... and no leftover paper scraps!! I go over all the details and measurements in my YouTube video here:

While I chose to create three similar Birthday Cards (the sentiments inside each are different), you could make three completely different cards depending on the papers you choose. What a great way to build up your card stash!

Below is the inside of one card ... the sentiment is hidden when the card is closed.

Hi Crafty Friends,
Welcome to our Karen Burniston Products - KB Riley LLC November Release Blog Hop. The Design Team have come together with Karen today for a fun blog hop to celebrate the release of 8 new dies. Sneak peeks of the new release started last week, and the dies are available to order NOW! Details about the giveaway are further down on my post.
On the front of my card, I'm using the new shadow for the Happy Birthday die (YAY!!!!), as well as the new Labels Crosshatch and the Big Birthday Charms.

This release includes:

I made a Pop Up card using several dies from the new release and paired them with previously released items. All the details are on my YouTube video

Below is the inside, with that party-hat-wearing-alligator who is also holding onto a balloon! As I said in the video, I used the Cupcake Pop Up but trimmed the excess away leaving tabs to adhere it inside the card. I get SO much use out of the Cupcake Pop Up!

The alligator, fly and cattails come from the new Bayou Animals, and the Balloon is in the new Big Birthday Charms. The party hat is from the previously released Birthday Charms. I also used Word Sets 2 & 4 and 'Celebrate' for the sentiments, cut from red card stock.

I also had fun playing with the new Border Blends - Trims, and the new Labels Crosshatch.

Sassy & Crafty and Karen Burniston Collaboration Hop

Hello!  Welcome to the Karen Burniston (KB Riley) & Sassy and Crafty Blog & Instagram Hop! Our Design Team members are excited to share their inspiring creations using some of the fabulous products from both these companies.
To celebrate our blog hop we have four great prizes to give away. You will have the chance to win one of two $25 Gift Certificates to use on the Karen Burniston (KB Riley) website or one of two $25 Gift Certificates to use on Sassy and Crafty website. I have all those links below my card photos.
I have created two cards for this collaboration, both are Pop Up Cards using dies by Karen Burniston and stamps/stencil from Sassy & Crafty. All the details are on my YouTube video:

First up is a butterfly Birthday Pop Up card ...

The rainbow  pieces were created with Washi Tape that was adhered to white card stock and die cut. To create my A6 card base, I cut my card stock 11 x 4.5", and scored it at 5".

Inside, I used the Cupcake Pop Up, and as I so often do, I disguised the cupcake shape with a different shape. This card uses the Squares Crosshatch, which gave me a perfect place to highlight the rainbow coloured butterfly and add one of the sentiments from the Flutter By set onto the lower step that cuts with the Cupcake Pop Up.

The pretty background was created with blending brushes, dye ink and the Butterfly Wings Stencil.

I took the colours for the butterfly from the rainbow Washi Tape. After adhering two strips of Washi Tape one above the other, I die the one of the Border Blends Argyle and adhered it to the inside bottom of my card. There is a small black gem in the centre of each full diamond for additional sparkle.

I adhered another strip of the Washi Tape to a same sized strip of white card stock then adhered that to the top of my card and added a diamond cut from the Border Blends Argyle in the centre.

The Happy Birthday was die cut from black glittered card stock and adhered to a white crosshatch circle. Finally, I added some black gemstones from my stash.

Now for my second card! This is also a Pop Up card and uses the "Pardon My Frenchie" stamp set.

Both the Hello and the dog bone were cut from black glossy card stock and I added black glaze pen to the eyes and nose of the dog on the front. Oh, and I also paper pieced the little bag that the dog is sitting in.

Inside I used the Flip Frame Pop Up and another one of the cute French Bulldog images from the stamp set.

While I have linked as many of the products used as I can below, this Pardon My Frenchie stamp set now appears to be missing from the Sassy & Crafty online shop so I don't have a link for that one.

Remember Karen Burniston has assembly videos for her pop up dies!  Once you know how to assemble your die, the rest is card size, paper and colour choice as well as embellishments! You can change the look of your card every time you use the dies. :-)  I always enjoy showing you different ways you can use your dies once you know how to assemble them.

To celebrate our blog hop we have four great prizes to give away. You will have the chance to win one of two $25 Gift Certificates to use on the Karen Burniston (KB Riley) website or one of two $25 Gift Certificates to use on Sassy and Crafty website.

Mini Slimline Cupcake Pop Up Birthday Card

Hello! It's time for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge, and she challenged her Design Team to create a project using "Black, White and a Pop Of ....".  I chose PINK to be my "Pop Of" and made a top fold Mini Slimline with the Cupcake Pop Up. I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube since it's always more fun to see these cards 'in action'.

I started my card with a 3.5 x 12" piece of white card stock, scoring it in the centre at 6" which gave me the top fold Slimline card of 3.5 x 6". I added a diagonal strip of black and white patterned paper and  a spray of blooms from the Flower Pot Pop Up. The pink card stock was all scraps from my stash and I added white glittered card stock as well. The pink seam binding was added after the card was complete, as I generally work on the insides of my Pop Up cards first then finish with the front.

The black card stock was all given a spritz with my shimmer spray so it has a lovely sparkle!

Inside, I used the Cupcake Pop Up! It BARELY fit into the 3.5" card width but I took my time lining up the die's alignment nubs with the inside score line and I was careful when adhering the inner card to the outer card so as not to damage those narrow strips on either side of the pop up base. I admit to holding my breath a couple of times, ha ha - but it worked and I was tickled!

Inside I added a couple more of the black and white patterned paper strips and then some flowers & vines from the Flower Pot Pop Up. I was able to use up several scraps of pink card stocks for the flowers! The little bow is intended to go across the cupcake liner, but I chose to add it to the upper right corner.

The cupcake icing was cut from white glitter card stock and the black cupcake liner was spritzed with shimmer spray.

The Thinking of You was die cut twice, once from pink card stock and once from black. Then the pink one was layered over the black, offsetting for a bit of a shadow.

As shown in my video, I used patterned paper and the Envelope Punch Board to create a coordinating envelope.

I hope you will check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with for their 'Pop Of ...'  - their blogs are linked on the right. Karen Burniston will have her project on her blog tomorrow (Wednesday).

Pop Up Gnome Anniversary Card

Hello! Today I'm sharing my card for Karen Burniston's February Designer Challenge and I made an Anniversary Card for our middle daughter and hubby. Karen B challenged the Design Team to make a project using HEARTS! I have a walk through of my card on YouTube here:

I used several different Pop Up dies by Karen Burniston for my card today and they are all listed in the supply list below. We were so happy when she came out with the Happy Anniversary die to work with her other sentiment sets! I combined it with the Love Charms for my card front.

Inside I used the Cupcake Pop Up and disguised the cupcake shape with a rectangle from the Crosshatch Rectangles. That got decorated with these cute Gnomes and I added the Celebrate to the lower platform.

All the little hearts came from the decorator dies in the Heart Pivot Panels. They cut two at a time, so using both of them gave me 4 hearts with each pass through my die cutting machine!

More hearts, a rainbow coloured panel and an older retired stamp for the sentiment.

Finally, here is another view so you can see the pop up a little better.

I hope you will check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with for the challenge - their blogs are linked on the right. Karen Burniston will have her project on her blog tomorrow (Wednesday).

Explosion Card for Karen Burniston's Birthday Blog Hop

Hello crafty friends ...
Yes, Karen Burniston's Design Team is back with ANOTHER Blog Hop! This one has been in the works for a long time, so when Karen & Tanya decided to have a New Release Blog Hop we were so relieved that they didn't choose this date as we really wanted to surprise Karen!

I have a YouTube video that goes over some of the details of my card:

Because I like to work ahead, this was actually the first Slimline card I made with the Explosion Pop Up. Then, since I knew I wouldn't be posting it until today I did make another that I could share immediately. I was so excited at how well the Explosion Pop UP works in a Slimline card I wanted other's to know too so they can make some as well.

I used the Alpha dies for the word CELEBRATE, and again I was pleased with how well they worked on a Slimline. What a fun way to personalize a card, if you were to add someone's name!

Here is  a peek at the inside, with the Explosion Pop Up. I also used the Border Blends, Cupcakes from the Cupcake Pop Up, and the swinging banner is from the Paper Frames Pop Up.

The words are from Word Set 2 - Birthday and I cut them from black card stock that had double sided adhesive on the back to make them easy to adhere to the card.

I didn't want the red card base to show through the opening behind the pop up piece, so I adhered a folded piece of the same patterned paper inside as shown below.

I hope you will hop along and see the fun inspiration we have for you as we celebrate Karen Burniston's Birthday from around the globe.
