Bar Mitzvah Pop Up Card

Our daughter asked if I could make them a Bar Mitzvah card and this is what I came up with. The card started with gold foiled blank cards that I got from Stampin' Up last year, and I added some gold foil card stock and gold foil tape to tie it in. I love the coordinating gold envelope!

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up (which has become such a favourite of mine) to animate a die cut stitched circle. The circle was decorated with a gold foil Star of David and a stamped Mazel Tov. More gold foil tape to complete the inside of the card and give them lots of room to write a message.

Four Journal Card Birthday Cards

I pulled out some Project Life Journal Cards and made birthday cards for donating to my Mom's old nursing home. I've had the journal cards for a couple of years and initially purchased them to use for this very reason. But then I forget to use them, ha ha. They are sized 3 x 4" and I added two to each card front.

The background panel was embossed with a dots embossing folder for a little somethin' somethin' and I added a stamped greeting directly on the journal card. Bling was accomplished with gold foil bee stickers 😊

Ball Cap Birthday Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! I am so happy with today's card AND that with the strip of patterned paper I USED UP that older 6x6" paper pad I've been working on. Woot!!!  I guess when you have paper pads that you pick away at for years and years, eventually you get to the point where there aren't many sheets left in them. I've been able to use up a couple of pads already this year and I love that. Usually I feel like my patterned paper supply is never ending, that it must multiply on it's own overnight

I have had this Hats Off bundle for a couple of years and definitely don't use it enough. I really enjoyed making this card and have kept the set out to use again. But I keep getting pulled away with florals, since it's summer so .....   

The hat was stamped on white card stock then die cut. I added the colour with a water brush dipped onto the lid of the ink pad. I probably should have used water colour paper but I'm a lazy stamper and used what I had close by. In the end, I loved the worn look but doubt I can replicate it a second time.

Gold & Green Birthday Card

I wanted to make a card yesterday (Sunday) but my head was still a little woozy so I knew it would have to be a fairly simple one. At times like this, I know I can always make a birthday card to add to my nursing home donation bag. I tried to take a photo of the card several times, but this is one that is just way better in real life.

The embossed Happy Birthday panel was on my stamping table so I started ink blending with sponges, blue & green inks. Then I spied my jar of gold Lunar Paste and thought I'd try ty rub it over the embossed surface. It actually looks quite good in real life, not muddy and blotchy as it does in the photos.

The panel was trimmed and matted with gold and then I added the Happy Birthday which was die cut from the same gold and popped up with foam tape.

Inside I added a white panel that was wrapped with narrow gold tape, matted with the same gold as used on the card front then a sentiment stamped inside.

I thought I'd like to make a Slimline card, or a Father's Day card but a holiday Slimline paper pad caught my eye and I started working on a Christmas card instead. My head is better again today, so I will try to get those finished and then I'd better get moving on Father's Day.

Four Metallic Birthday Cards

I really wanted to play with this embossing folder, so grabbed the first sheet of metallic printed card stock that was in the pile and these cards are the result. Two A2 sized cards and two 4x6" cards  - they will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home.

While the embossing folder is actually a set that includes words to stamp in the blank wavy area - I decided to use up some older Peel Off's instead.

Here is a peek at the inside - all the cards have the same sentiment stamped inside. It's part of a larger stamp that has 'hugs & kisess' above it but I snipped it off to make the stamp more useable for me. I showed the stamp in my Sheetload of Cards video this week, which you can find HERE if you are curious.

Small Butterfly Tri-Shutter Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!

Today's card is petite when it comes out of the envelope, but it opens up nice and big. Years ago I ordered a Tri-Shutter die set because I couldn't believe the price point! Then I couldn't believe the size of it when it came - no wonder it was priced so well. Totally MY fault for not paying more attention to the size that was clearly listed when I ordered.  The set was intended for pocket scrapbooking, so folded the card is 3x4". 

I actually wanted to see if I could use a printed note card for the card base and the die fit perfectly! This copper foiled one is from my stash and it's just SO pretty with that foiling. I did adjust the center fold a little so I could mount the larger matted rectangle & butterfly on it. The ATC dies from Waffle Flower are the perfect size for this card as well so that made me happy.

The larger butterfly die was included in the Sri Shutter die set and I added a smaller butterfly as well. The copper metallic card stock was in my stash and I coloured gold glitter dots with a rust alcohol marker so they would match a little better.

While I don't get a ton of use out of it, I do make sure to pull it out now and again to make a card. I shake my head every time, at how foolish I was.

Woodland Birthday Card

I love the Crafters Companion embossing folders that have coordinating dies. Such a clever idea! For this one I die cut the mushrooms/leaves - they cut as a single piece - then placed them in the embossing folder and ran that through to get the details. The colour was added with blending brushes and dye inks (Catherine Pooler) which was fairly quick to do.

Cutting a 4 x 6" white card stock panel, I embossed that with the same folder, then adhered the coloured piece over the white one. You still see some of the embossed leaves etc on the background. Then I just added some patterned paper and a 2nd white matt to the card base before adhering the embossed piece with thin foam tape.  The Happy Birthday was leftover from a card kit, and I added it with foam tape.

Inside, I added washi tape borders and a stamped sentiment. This card was sent to a friend who celebrates an April birthday.

Coyote Birthday Card Duo

When I saw these coyote images on some junk mail, I decided to re-use them to make a pair of birthday cards for the nursing home. The sunburst embossing folder seemed a good match, and after embossing it on white card stock I rubbed some yellow ink on them with a blending sponge. I punched two clouds then trimmed them down to fit under the sentiment and added gold Nuvo Drops for some sparkle.

Four Winter Scene Christmas Cards

Can you believe we are at the end of January already? Crazy.  Usually I make next years holiday cards during the Christmas season, while I'm in the Christmas spirit and there is no pressure to make them. This year I did make some but decided that I will also make a few each month throughout the year. Here are my first four Christmas cards for 2024!

These cards are 5 x 7", and I used some of that pretty winter scene paper (Hunkydory) that I made cards with in December. I love the prints, but it is thin and can wrinkle easily so you have to use care with it. 

The papers are 8x8" so I was able to get two cards from each sheet. The arched window die set (Waffle Flower) has less than a 4" opening in the center so that worked perfectly. It's sure getting a lot of use ... I think I bought those dies last Spring. After I had the patterned paper adhered behind the arched window, I had the not-so-great idea to spritz the panel with Shimmer Spray. 

Since the paper is thin, the whole front panel buckled. AACK. I tried laying the panels under heavy books for a few days and that helped, but I could still see the buckles in the papers. So I used an embossing folder and that also helped.

The horse and sleigh are from a Papertrey Ink set I have had for years & I knew I'd use that set for these scenic cards. The sentiment was stamped onto a white pearl strip but the card seemed to need something else. So I added some die cut snowflakes and a few Glitter Dot stickers and the cards were finished.

'Sunflowers & Bees' Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing the 5 x 7" birthday card made for my Sister In Law. It's the 9th card I've made with Paper Roses' Bee Happy cardmaking kit & all the papers and ephemera came in the kit.

I used a subtle texture embossing folder on the yellow/grey panel, narrow gold foil tape and Stickles glitter glue for additional sparkle. Also, I added those glitter dot stickers for shine but no bulk.

Here is a look at the inside, with the sentiment stamped on a white panel and two gold foil bee stickers. I added one of those bees onto the envelope as well.

Dog Themed Birthday Cards

As I work on my cards, I keep track of the supplies I'm using for each card in a notebook. That way I know what I've used when I finally take the photos and write up the blog post. When I was finished with this notebook I looked at the dogs on the cover and thought they would make a cute card. Grabbing a circle punch, I punched out the images and these are the cards I came up with ... a Slimline card and an A2 card. Both will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home.

First up is an A2 sized card. The embossing folder is many years old and I thought it would make a good background for the popped up dog elements.

The second card is a Slimline card and I was able to fit 5 of the punched circles on the front! 

The inside is pretty much the same as the first card. I was happy to be able to put that notebook cover to good use and I'm sure they will bring a smile to the residents.

Honey Bee Card for Happy Mail

Today I'm sharing the eighth card using Paper Roses "Bee Happy" cardmaking kit. I know I have been posting a lot of cards with this kit lately, but I wanted to USE the kit and not just make a couple of cards and then put it away. I've done that before, and you know the saying "out of sight, out of mind?" Yeah. I don't want to pull out a half used kit in 3 years and wonder why I didn't just use it up at the time. Ha.

The foiled bee sticker is from my stash, and was attached to white card stock then fussy cut. That way I could pop it up with foam tape. I also added a little colour with alcohol markers and was happy with how it turned out.

The main panel actually uses a paper from Basic Grey that I've had for years. It worked so well with the kit I pulled it out to use with the cards. After embossing with the honeycomb embossing folder I rubbed gold Lunar Paste over the panel with my finger. It's hard to capture the shimmer in photos.

Wobbling Gnome Card

This is the 5th card I'm sharing made with the Bee Happy cardmaking kit by Paper Rose. The background panel was trimmed to fit my wide A2 card, then I embossed it with the honeycomb folder.  

The gnome element was attached with an Action Wobble so he bobs and wobbles around - so fun! I added some Stickles glitter glue onto the gnome for some sparkle and then a few glitter dots on the card as well.

Here is a peek at the inside - I added some paper strips and a stamped sentiment with a foiled bee sticker. There is a sticker on the envelope as well.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my crafty friends! 

I decided to start 2024 off on my blog with a New Years Card. I love how sparkly it is - perfect for ringing in a new year.  I started with a glossy printed cardstock panel by Hunkydory, then I embossed it with a fireworks embossing folder. After matting this panel with rainbow holographic cardstock I added it to the front of a white card base. 

Adding the Celebrate (a die by Karen Burniston) cut from the same holographic cardstock my card front was finished.

I had ordered a few new goodies back in early November, and this Happy New Year stamp set by Pink & Main is one of them. I really liked the large size of the sentiments, and I didn't have much in the way of New Year stamps.

Embossed Floral Birthday Card

Back in October I shared a Mini Slimline sympathy card made with this Slimline embossing folder. I decided to pull it out again and make an A2 sized card with it. After running my cardstock through with the embossing folder I lightly rubbed dye inks onto the raised portion with blending sponges. It's soft and pretty and I was happy with the effect. Quick and easy, too!

Adding a stamped sentiment strip and some glitter dots my card was finished and ready to pop into my nursing home donation bin. I've shown my plastic envelope before in YouTube videos -  it's chock full of birthday sentiment strips. I just make a whole bunch in an evening so I'm not sure of which stamp I used on this one. I just like having them stamped, die cut and all ready to add to a card front.

Arched Window & Deer Card

I have been really enjoying this 8x8" paper pad with the pretty winter scenes (linked below) and this card is one that I had in my head when I ordered the paper. I love how it came out and will be making more of these for next year

After die cutting the Forest Window from a white cardstock panel, I embossed it with a 5x7" embossing folder then backed it with the patterned paper. The deer is a die I picked up in early November and I bought it because it's so nice and big! I love deer dies - especially over the holidays, and this is the first one I've seen this size. The deer was cut from white pearl cardstock and I added a snowflake sticker to his flank.

Inside the card I added a stamped greeting and more snowflake stickers along with a leftover strip of the purple paper which I had used to mat the front panel.

While it's hard to see in the photo, that bottom strip is embossed with dots and it adds such a nice texture inside the card!
