Snowman Pop Up Christmas Card

Today's card is both for Fun Fold Friday and the 3rd edition to my monthly series "12 Months of Christmas".  I pulled out an older patterned paper package for my card and I was determined to use some of it, especially since it also has some coordinating solid cardstocks included. While it's hard to see in the photos - the front panel has embossed and glittery bits which really adds to the front of the card.

I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube:

Karen Burniston's Merry Christmas was cut from black glossy cardstock for even more shimmer and shine.

Inside I used the Snowman Pop Up (also by Karen Burniston) and every time I make one of these cards I am AMAZED at how completely flat it folds down for mailing! I also used the new Rectangle and Labels Crosshatch, for my decorative papers and labels. In the video I show how I cut down three different panels for the inside.

Karen Burniston has assembly videos for all of her pop up dies including this one. If you have the die, then you have probably already checked out her video tutorial so I don't attempt do 'reinvent the wheel' by doing another assembly one. I prefer to show you different ways you can use those same dies since people love to see a variety of looks!
HERE is the link to the Karen Burniston website, which includes the assembly videos, or click on the product link below.

His hat and eyes were also cut from the black glossy cardstock, as was the Brrrrrr in the top left corner.

Even though I kept the front of the card nice and simple, the card felt unbalanced in my hand when it was opening. So I added a slightly smaller than 5 x 7" panel of white cardstock to the back of the card as well. Note, I didn't use any dimension or foam tape on the card front as you want these cards to open flat so the snowman can display.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 Cards

Additional Supplies:
5 x 7" card base and envelope
Patterned paper & coloured card stock - Alpine Frost, sei (old, from my stash)
White cardstock
Black marker

Snowman Pop Up

Hello my crafty friends. It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and today I'm sharing a Christmas Card using Karen Burniston's Snowman Pop Up. Every time I use this die set, it amazes me - how much dimension you get but how flat it folds down. Just amazing.

I have all the details in a YouTube video:

Karen Burniston has assembly videos for all of her pop up dies including this one. If you have the die, then you have probably already checked out her video tutorial so I don't attempt do 'reinvent the wheel' by doing another assembly one. I prefer to show you different ways you can use those same dies since people love to see a variety of looks! Here is the link to the Karen Burniston website, which includes the assembly videos!

Once you know how to assemble your die, the rest is card size, paper and colour choice as well as embellishments! You can change the look of your card every time you use the dies. 😊 Since it had been awhile since I created a Snowman Pop Up, I went back and re-watched the video before starting.

My card is larger than A2 - only because I've been doing this for so long I get tired of the A2 size. This one is 5.5 x 5" and will fit in a 5 x 7" envelope for mailing. It will mail for a single stamp, which I love.

The pretty patterned paper is a retired package I picked up on the Stampin' Up Clearance Rack last year (or maybe the year before).

I used a few other dies by Karen Burniston and everything that is available is linked below for you.

Snowflakes and Snowman Pop Up Card

Hello!
It's time for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge and she challenged her Design Team with:  Theme: "MOD HOLIDAY" - make a Christmas card using a non-traditional color scheme". I love using non traditional colours, but didn't really step too far outside the box for this card. Blue & white with the sparkle of silver. 😊 I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube

Inside, I used the Snowman Pop Up (which I absolutely LOVE) and I cut the snowman body from blue pearl card stock instead of white. That is also non-traditional, right? Ha.

Of course the sparkle and shine doesn't show up in photos, but there is plenty of it on this card.

The crosshatch rectangles form the sentiment block, decorated with Word Set 13 Snow.

The sentiment block on the right side is where we can sign our names before mailing the card.

I have the rest of the Design Team linked on the right side of my blog, and I hope you will check out what they came up with for the challenge. Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow (Wednesday) on her BLOG.

Snowman-Turned-Bear Pop Up Card

Hello!  In the YouTube video of my Snowman Pop Up card, I mentioned wanting to play with the snowman body to create some animals. This is my first attempt - a Snowman turned into a BEAR! I go through my thought process and the different dies I used to create this little bear in my YouTube video HERE

It's SO hard to capture in photos, but the top layer of the 'hello' was coated with Glossy Accents so it catches the light.

Here is my little 'Heart Holding Bear'! I think he turned out cute and I can't wait to play with this idea some more.

It's amazing how FLAT the Snowman Pop Up (or Bear Pop Up 😊) folds down for mailing. Just amazing.

Snowman Pop Up Card

Hello! Yes, this is my second post today, but I couldn't help it. The Design Team is now starting to show sneak peeks of Karen Burniston's new release!!!

I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube

As usual, I kept the front of my card fairly simple, because all the fun is on the inside. I have linked the items that are available below, and for the New Release items I have linked to the COMING SOON section of the store. For retail customers, the dies can be ordered on August 9th and we will be celebrating with a BLOG HOP as well. Lots of fun inspiration coming your way so mark your calendars for August 9th. There might even be prizes! 😉

The HELLO on the front of my card is one of the new dies being released and it has a shadow layer. YAY! This is one I have already used a number of times and expect to get a lot more use out of it. It's the perfect size for Slimline and Mini Slimline cards, as well as A2 etc.

Inside, I used the new Snowman Pop Up. Honestly, I just fell in love with him and I have lots of ideas for making different critters with this as the base (think polar bear, teddy bear, monkey etc). I love how FLAT he folds down ... you can expect to see more Snowman Pop Up cards from me for sure.

The SNOW MUCH FUN is also one of the new die sets - Word Set 13 Snow. Again - see the shadow layer for the larger word SNOW? There is also a BRRR with a shadow and other words as well.

The snowflakes on either side of my card come from the Snowflake Pattern Plate, which was in a previous release. I also used the Crosshatch Rectangles throughout the card including as a place for our personal greeting.
