Four Silhouette Birthday Cards

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog!  I need to get a bunch of my nursing home donation cards done, so pulled out these sports themed panels and got these four cards  made. The panels are from the Big Book of Sports by Hunkydory, and I don't think it's available anymore. But there are a ton in the pad so I'm all set. 😊 

They are a UK size so I trimmed them down to 4x 5.25" then added them to a white A2 card base. The stamped sentiment was added with foam tape for a little dimension. I have a plastic envelope filled with these sentiments, so I can just go through and pull some out when I'm ready to complete a card. 

The insides are very simple ... all done the same.

Birthday Cards from Note Cards!

Last winter I cut down a box of printed note cards so I could use the card fronts to make Birthday Cards for my Mom's old nursing home. I cut them down because they were printed on a very lightweight cardstock and I do not like 'wussy' cards. I must have found the note cards on sale for a good price, but I cannot remember where. Ha. 

I pulled the card fronts from my 'In Progress' bin and got them all finished and ready to donate.

The card fronts had been cut down with stitched rectangle or square dies and I added them to folded white cards. The prints were dressed up with Stickles glitter glue for some shine and a stamped sentiment was added to some of them.

For the insides, I wrapped a white panel with washi tape from my stash and stamped a greeting before adding them inside the cards. I saved the card backs to use for matting and sentiment stamping etc, so there was very little waste.

This cute sloth panel was cut into a square as there must have been just too much pink background for my taste.

Butterfly Bunny Birthday Card Duo

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!  After I used this die to make Easter cards, I made a note to use it again for summer Birthday cards. This week I made these two and the second one is a pop up.

The die is quite large, so I made my cards into 5x7" but a 6x6" square card would work as well. The patterned paper is MANY years old and from my stash. I die cut the Butterfly Bunny from patterned paper and adhered them both to burgundy card stock. Then the images were fussy cut so I could pop them up with thin foam tape.

For this first card I added Stickles glitter glue around the butterfly wings, and added a pair of small die cut butterflies.

Below is the inside of the first card ... with a stamped sentiment and a light green vellum butterfly.

The second card is stepped up. I die cut butterflies from both patterned paper and white pearl vellum, adhering three of them over the butterflies on the main image. They were glued down along the butterfly bodies only, so there is some lift to the wings.

The first card base was white but I wanted to try it with a Kraft card base as well. In the end, I think I like the white one better. For the inside of this second card I used Karen Burniston's Lorna Label Pop Up.

The 'fluttering by' sentiment is actually part of a larger stamp that also says 'I miss you'. I knew I wouldn't use that one very often, so I trimmed away the 'miss you' portion and can add it to the 'fluttering by' sentiment again if I do need it. But I will get lots more use out of that stamp with it saying "fluttering by to say ..." 

I also added a couple more butterflies to the pop up area, and of course - Glitter Dot stickers for some shimmer.

The birthday sentiment was stamped on a scalloped white panel - both it and the crosshatch green panel are from the Short Crosshatch Rectangles die set - also by Karen Burniston

Moose Birthday Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog. There were some strips leftover from the Canada Day card duo I shared last month (see those HERE) and I wanted to use them up. I could have put them back in the paper package to use another day, but I was inspired to create a masculine birthday card instead.

The matted woodgrain strip hides the join of the two plaid maple leaf pieces, and I added a punched moose on a punched label. Both were popped up with foam tape. Using torn paper and a blending sponge, I added the ground line on the label (BEFORE adding the punched moose) and then did the same on the inside panel. 

Since the card base isn't really heavy, and there are layers on the front - the card didn't feel balanced inside until I added that white panel. This is something I usually do and often forget to mention.

Five Floral Birthday Cards

Today I'm sharing another group of Birthday Cards I made to donate to my Mom's old nursing home. Because the floral cluster on the patterned paper was spaced so far apart, I was able to use a stitched circle die to cut these five elements. I matted them with a slightly larger stitched circle cut from what card stock.

Below is a picture of the inside with all of the cards being done the same.

Four Birthday Cards

Last year I went through this 12 x 12" paper pad (called Neapolitan by Dear Lizzy) and decided to finish it off. I made a bunch of birthday card fronts, as they are much easier to store if it's just the front panel but quick to adhere to a card base when I'm ready to use them. The trouble is, I keep forgetting I have them. Ha. I pulled out a bunch and got the cards finished and donated to my Mom's old nursing home. Here are four of the ones I made and I will share the others in the coming weeks.

The paper pad had several sheets of polaroid style prints and I also used the Polaroid Frame die from Your Next Stamp. The floral elements were fussy cut from one of the papers, as were the letters for SMILE in the card below. Or maybe some were stickers from a sheet that was included. Honestly these were done so long ago I can't remember! 

I was in no hurry to make the cards, and just had fun cutting papers and assembling the card fronts. Because the cards are hand delivered to the residents I didn't need to worry about bulk from foam tape or extra postage.  There were lots of smaller pieces in the paper pad from previous projects and I layered them onto the cards as well.

Four Simple Ice Cream Birthday Cards

These cards were quick and easy to make using patterned paper. If we are camping or visiting Arizona I will bring some things to work on. Often I will create just the card fronts, as it saves space for packing and then I can mount the panels to card blanks when we get home. That is what happened with these cards but they never did get mounted. I pulled the panels out of my 'in progress' bin and adhered them to the card bases this month.

At the time I must have thought I would add an ice cream element or other decoration to the front, but when I got them mounted I thought they looked nice and cheerful on their own. I'm sure the nursing home residents will enjoy them as most people like ice cream. Plus, there is some sparkle from the sticker gems.

 The card interiors are all the same.

Ball Cap Birthday Slimline Card

Hello! I am surrounded by baseball loving friends and family, so when I saw this stamp & die bundle from Stampin' Up I just knew I would get a lot of use out of it. This is the Birthday Card I sent to our niece, who is involved with the game both personally and professionally.

I used the new Slimline Dotted Set 3 die from Studio Katia to die cut the scalloped panel and added Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday as well as a stamped and die cut ball cap.

September Sheetload of Cards

Hello!  It's the second of the month, and that means it's time for another Sheetload of Cards! Choosing these fun cactus images from Your Next Stamp, I made all eight of my cards Birthday Cards and will be donating them to my Mom's old nursing home. To add the colour to the cactus I swiped die inks onto an acrylic block and picked up the colour with a water brush. Then I painted on the colour.

April Sheetload of Cards

Hello!  It's the 2nd of the month, which means the Sheetload of Card Collaboration Team is sharing their take on this month's Sheetload of Cards. This month Alicia has another Special Edition for us - April's Sheetload of Cards is for Mini Slimline's and the yield is ten cards. I pulled out some older patterned paper from my stash and made some masculine Birthday Cards to donate to my Mom's old Nursing Home. 

You will notice that I rotated the sketch to make portrait style cards instead of landscape, and that is only because I knew I wanted black card bases and it was an opportunity to use up some of this lightweight black card stock from my stash. If you use a lightweight card stock for a landscape, top fold card it will probably collapse instead of standing nicely for display. As I show in the video - I didn't want that for the residents.

More February Paper Pumpkin Alternate Cards

Hello!  Today I'm sharing my final cards with the February Paper Pumpkin kit ... cards nine through fourteen! I have a walkthrough of all six of these cards on YouTube as well. 

First up is a Slimline that is not only a Pop Up, but I also got to use some bits and pieces from a previous Paper Pumpkin kit!

The printed flowers were in the November Paper Pumpkin Kit. They were meant for Christmas cards, but at the time I wanted to save them to use on Birthday cards. The colours matched and this was a good opportunity to use them.  The gold foiled label was leftover from the September kit and again - they worked really well with the golf laser cut doily included in this kit. 

For the Pop Up inside, I did a simple box pop up. While I didn't have a tutorial done at the time I was filming the video, I have one done and filmed now so will get it posted next week. They are one of my favourite ways to add something floating inside your card. I added one more flower to the Pop Up portion and one below it as well. 

Card #10 uses a shimmery laser cut panel from a 12 x 12" sheet of various images I picked up on the Stampin' Up Clearance Rack earlier this year. I also added a couple of fussy cut flowers from the Flowers & Field paper pack. I also used one more of the gold rimmed labels from the September kit.

Inside is more of the same patterned paper and fussy cut flowers around a stamped greeting.

Card #11 is an Easter card and I used several different products on this one. The  green striped panel was cut from one of the card bases, and the doily and flower cluster came in the Paper Pumpkin kit.

I used a very old bunny die by Tim Holtz (a BigZ die), cutting it from white card stock then giving the bunny a spritz with shimmer spray so it's nice and sparkly. The butterflies were punched out of paper & card scraps from the kit and the flowers were fussy cut from the Flower & Field patterned paper. The eggs come from Karen Burniston's Easter Charms ... I just trimmed off the hanging holes.

Inside the card is more of the Flower & Field patterned paper and a few more items from the Easter Charms Set - including the sweet Happy Easter! 

Card #12 is another pop up using a die set by Karen Burniston ... the Katherine Label Pop Up. The front is similar to the sample given in the instructions and pretty much identical to the card fronts I did in my first video. 

Inside I added more of the Flower & Field patterned paper and the Pierced Bloom dies. Oh, I am going to LOVE these SU dies!

You get lots of lift and action with the Katherine Label Pop Up, which is always fun. Especially since it's so easy peasy to assemble.

Now for card #13 ... I thought this might be my last card so was trying to use up a bunch of the odds and ends I had leftover from the kit and the other cards.

Here is a peek at the inside, with more stitched rectangles, a stamped greeting and punched butterflies. This one will be going into my stash.

Finally - here is card #14 and this one really did use up the last of the bits. I penned the Happy Birthday onto the last of the kit labels and added a few fussy cut flowers & the final floral cluster from the kit.

Inside I have more stitched rectangles, a fussy cut flower and a stamped greeting. This Birthday Card and #10 with the bird laser cut will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home.
