Winter Fireplace Pop Up Card

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge for December. This was the theme she gave the Design Team: "FIREPLACE DIE THROUGH THE YEAR" - sign up for a month to represent with a card using the Fireplace Pop-up matching the theme of that month". I chose December and here is my wintery fireplace pop up card!

Chosing a limited colour palette, white, tan and silver foil gives the card an elegant feel, and while it could be sent as a holiday card - it would also work for any kind of winter card or to send to people who don't celebrate the holidays. Or change the sentiment dies to create a winter Birthday card.

I pulled out some older 6 x 6" papers for this one, a light woodgrain and the silver dotted one. The snowflake border is from the Long Nature Edges 2. It was cut from white pearl cardstock and curved around layered Ovals Crosshatch. Finally, the Brrr! and shadow were added along with some bling.

I don't make a lot of square cards as they cost more to mail. But once in awhile it's a card shape that works perfectly for the design I have in mind. This one is 5-1/2" square. Inside I used more of the patterned paper and the Fireplace Pop Up. Since I used so many of Karen Burniston's dies, I'm not going to name them all here - but they are all linked below for you.

The flagstone in front of the fireplace was created using the 'lumps of coal' die that's included in the Holiday Charms. It was fun flipping through all of my KB dies, checking out the decorator dies to see what would work on this card. I just kept adding and building until I was happy with how it looked.

The little starburst behind the candles is from the Christmas Trees Pop Stand and I thought it was a fun way to change the look of the candles. The fire in the fireplace was actually cut from a leftover piece of copper foiled cardstock. Often there are leftover scraps after hot foiling and die cutting a sentiment and I save those pieces for just this reason.

The rest of the Design Team is linked on the right side of my blog and I hope you will check out what they came up with for the challenge. Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow (Wednesday) on her BLOG.

Warm Wishes Fireplace Pop Up card

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog.

I have a box where I store my Thanksgiving and Halloween stickers & embellishments, and rooting through it I decided to build a cozy indoor scene using Karen Burniston's Fireplace Pop Up and some stickers from the box.

I also used the Fireplace Add-Ons (Sets 1 and 2), and some older patterned paper from my stash. The pumpkin stickers are glossy and dimensional and I wasn't sure how they would work but the card isn't too bulky at all. This is a 5 x 6.5" card that came with envelopes from Michaels years ago.

When I'm finished using my Glimmer Foil on a project, often there are very useable bits leftover from die cutting the foiled image. I save all those, and a copper foiled scrap is what I used to die cut the clock and tiny florals on the fireplace swag. The stickers all have foiled bits in them too. 😊

When I went to link the Warm Wishes, I couldn't find it ... I thought it was from Honey Bee Stamps, but it's not on their website or others I looked at. Maybe I have the wrong manufacturer, and if so I will edit the post when I do find it.

Fireplace Christmas Card

Hello my crafty friends. Today I'm sharing a card sharing Karen Burniston's new Fireplace Pop Up and Extra's 1 & 2. I created a FLAT card rather than a Pop Up card to show how versatile this die is! My card today is 5 x 6" and fits in a 5 x 7" envelope for mailing.

I pulled out some really, really old patterned paper from my stash and I loved the vintage feel of it. I also used some pale woodgrain patterned paper and small bits of patterned paper behind the frames adding acetate to resemble glass. The swag and wreath (and stockings) were all cut from scraps of patterned paper from the pad and I inked the edges with a dauber & dye inks. I also added some Peel Off stickers (Glitter Dots) for some shimmer and shine but it's hard to catch that in photos.

In the photo below, you can see the shine from the acetate behind the frames and hopefully the Glitter Dots show up a little better on the wreath & swag. The Santa boots are designed to swing from the top of the fireplace, but I adhered them down with foam tape for this card.

Here is a peek at the inside, with a stamp by Taylored Expressions.

Just Saying "BOO!" Mini Slimline Card

Hello my crafty friends. I'm back today with another sneak peek of Karen Burniston's new release. This time I have a Mini Slimline card with the new Fireplace Pop up only instead of Santa's boots hanging in the opening I added the creepy hands from an earlier release. Then I added more Halloween elements for a spooky fireplace scene.

This new Fireplace Pop Up is going to be lots of fun - and there are two add-on sets so you can customize it for the different seasons. Since the swirly patterned paper isn't available any longer, I found another Doodlebug paper package to link for you.

While I didn't do a video, those creepy hands wiggle in the fireplace opening. 😊

NOTE - to add the hands, I cut them from green card stock, then cut the Santa Boots (included with the Fireplace Pop Up). Snipping away the boots, I just wanted the 'hanger' pieces and added them to the arms leaving the hands free to dangle. Then I assembled as per Karen B's assembly video.
