My card started out as a 5 x 7" card, but I wanted to try this flap idea so the finished size is actually 4 x 7". I scored 1" from the inside right edge to form the flap, and trimmed 1-1/8" off the card front on the right edge. I'm happy enough with the card, but next time I would just use one of Karen Burniston's flap dies. Now I know!
You may notice my Surprise Cube looks a little different. I kept the sides folded to the OUTSIDE instead of tucking them in. Which of course meant they didn't fit inside without trimming a tiny bit off of those four outer corners. I thought I'd made a big mistake, but didn't realize it until after the card was in the mail. Karen B assured me it was fine, just another look for the Surprise Cube. Whew!
I am going to include a running tally on how many cards I make this year, not counting the ones I don't share here on my blog. I donate 25 Birthday Cards each month to my Mom's old nursing home and don't often take photos or post the majority of those. A couple of times recently, I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since a lot of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.
