'Hello' Twist Panel Card - Another Sneak Peek!

Today I'm sharing another card featuring Karen Burnston's upcoming release ... this one uses the new Little Twist Panel and I wanted to show you how well it works in a 4-1/4" square card. This is a great size card, as it will still fit in an A2 envelope for mailing.

My card is held closed with a Belly Band, and since all of the dies by Karen Burniston work together pulled out some previously released items as well. The crosshatch label though? That's part of the new release - the Rectangles and Labels Crosshatch. We are pretty excited about this set, as the rectangles are sized to fit a 5 x 7" card!

This pop up set is a smaller version of the hugely popular Twist Panel Pop Up and it's quick and easy to assemble. Two of them fit side by side along a Slimline card, which you will see some of the Design Team have already come up with samples for!

There are also two slots that cut with the die and allow for an interlocking fishtail banner to go through for even more dimension. For my card today, I used the same red cardstock as the card base, and decorated one of the banners with a small enamel heart.

The papers and 'Thinking of You' tag are all from Doodlebug, and the signing block uses the same Rectangles & Labels Crosshatch set as I used on the front. See the little frame around the signing block? That is sized to go around the outer edge of the Label Frame Pop Up which was previously released. Yeah!

Below you can see the whole new release, which will be shipping on February 20.

Late last year I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February so far - 37 cards

Mini Slimline - Just a Note

I hadn't really intended to use this card as one of the Sneak Peeks for Karen Burniston's upcoming release, but since it IS Valentine's Day today and there are lots of hearts on this card, I decided to go ahead. The sneak peek part is on the inside. 😊

This Mini Slimline card uses papers, cut aparts, stickers and ephemera from Doodlebug Designs, but that adorable little envelope? It's from Karen Burniston's Mailbox Pop Up.

The new Little Twist Panel Pop Up is a smaller version of the hugely popular Twist Panel Pop Up and you can see how well it fits in a smaller card. This one is 3.5" wide!

Since I always like to show you different ways to use your dies, I also only used the mechanism - the part with the arms, and not the accordion piece that goes over top. I did use both main pieces in tomorrow's card, but just by adding the included rectangles and some ephemera to the arms - I ended up with a nifty little pop up with lots of motion and not very much bulk.

Below you can see the whole new release, which will be shipping on February 20.

Tropical Twist Panel Pop-Up Card and Gift Card Holder

Good morning friends

This sheet of tropical stickers from Violette Stickers was calling my name and I wanted to try them with Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-Up die set. Since they matched so well, I also pulled out Lynda Kanase's new TROPICOOL VIBES patterned paper.  The card front features one of the Cut Aparts from the paper pad, the Hello from Word Set 6 Summer and a little glitter. I'm loving the colours and subtle texture in this paper pad.

Look at all the tropical fun going on when you open the card!

No wonder the Twist Panel Pop-Up is such a popular die set!

I wanted to make a thank you card for a friend of my Mom's who really went above and beyond these past few months, so this card is for her. I also wanted to include a Gift Card, so used Dawn Griffith's Gift Card Tutorial yet again to make a coordinating Gift Card Holder. Link to the tutorial is at the end of my post

My friend and team mate Kelly sent me this gift card to use in my projects, since I loved the one that she used on a project last year. Haha, only a crafter would be as excited as I was about getting an 'empty' gift card to use as a photo prop.

You can find Dawn's Youtube video HERE for the Gift Card Holder:

Supplies:
White, blue and navy card stocks
Stickers - Violette Sticker Club
Stickles
TROPICOOL VIBES 6 x 12" paper pad - Lynda Kanase (Sizzix)
Black fine tip marker
Crayola markers

Card size - 5-1/2 x 5"

Paper Pro's Twist Panel Pop-Up Challenge Card

Good morning friends

It's time for the March Paper Pro-s challenge - 'GREEN'. Since I have an elderly Irish friend that I send a St. Patrick's Day card to every year, I made this for her.

I used these cute stickers by Doodlebug for the decorations, and lots of green for the challenge. Below is the card front:

Inside I used the Twist Panel Pop-Up, by Karen Burniston. This is a hugely popular die set, and it's easy to see why. What a dramatic pop-up when the card is opened!

It had been awhile since I made one, so I wanted to watch the assembly video again. Karen Burniston makes it easy - the video's are right on her website with the product (karenburniston.com) so they are always quick to find. They can also be found on her YouTube Channel, which you can find HERE.

You have to watch out for 'catch points' when you make any kind of twist card, and using stickers keeps everything flat and also keeps the bulk down for postage. I'm also enjoying this stitched scalloped border die by Prickley Pear so used it again on this card.

I've had the stamp for several years, and use it every single year.  Last year I picked up this cute shamrock Washi Tape and I'm going to be using it for several years to come as well.

The Paper Pro's challenge is a casual one, with a varying number of participants each month. This month we have:

Supplies:
Bright green Soft Finish Card Stock - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Patterned paper - Elizabeth Craft Designs
White card stock
1009 Twist Panel Pop-Up - Karen Burniston
Stickers - Doodlebug
Stitched Scalloped border die - Prickley Pear Stamps

Stitched circle die - MFT Staamps
Happy St. Paddy's day stamp - the Stamps of Life

Bright Christmas Twist Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I have a cheerful holiday card to share today. Rather than make a belly band, I tied Bakers Twine around it to keep it closed to prevent an accidental reveal. The front has Karen Burniston's Gift Card Label as a place to add a stamped greeting.

Inside I used the Twist Panel Pop-Up and some fun penguin stickers from my stash. At the top is the wreath & bow dies from the Sleigh Pop-Up - it seemed to need something there and the wreath worked perfectly.

I added another wreath to the penguin on the right panel. The snowbanks were cut with the border die included in the Twist Panel Pop-Up die set.

I only have a little bit of this fun mitten paper leftover, as I only purchased a single sheet. WHAT was I thinking? I love the bright happy colours!

Supplies:
1009 Twist Panel Pop-Up - Karen Burniston
Green, blue and white card stocks
Striped/Mittens patterned paper - Photo Play
Penguin stickers - The Paper Studio
1011 Katherine Label Pop-Up (labels) - Karen Burniston
Warm wishes stamp  - Avery Elle
1019 Gift Card Label  - Karen Burniston
Words on front - Papertrey Ink
1021 Sleigh Pop-Up (wreath) - Karen Burniston
Til the Season stamp - Taylored Expressions
Nuvo Crystal Drops
Stickles

Karen Burniston's December 2017 Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

Welcome to Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge: "TREES, PLEASE!" - incorporate a tree (any tree) for a card with a winter/holiday theme.

While my obvious choice would be to use the Christmas Tree Pop-Up, I absolutely love the Winter Charms set so decided to use the tree charms for my card instead.

I also really like the sleigh from the Sleigh Pop-Up, so used it on the card front, holding a bunch of trees instead of gifts. Just a couple of quick snips with scissors and the tree charm becomes a sweetly shaped tree! The bow on the sleigh is popped up and shiny from the coating of Glossy Accents.

For the inside, I used the Twist Panel Pop-Up!

I found the lightweight cardstock and patterned paper I used was too flimsy to allow for a smooth movement of the twist panels. Simply adhering a panel of card stock to cover the card back solved that problem by making it nice and sturdy.

The banners come with the Twist Panel Pop-Up, and I added the smallest tree from the Winter Charms above the banners and coated it with Glossy Accents.

While it's hard to see in the photos, each of the trees also got a good coating of Glossy Accents. I used the beaded rectangle frame from the Tag Book Pop-Up on each of the panels. I cut it four times from red and four from white. I put aside the white beaded frames and the red inner panels to use on a different project, and adhered one red beaded frame to each of the Pop-Up panels. Then I inlaid the white centres inside the beaded frames and adhered the trees to the white.

I didn't add any foam tape, keeping the bulk down on the folded card.

The Pop-Up heart die also comes with the Twist Panel Pop-Up. It's such a fun little addition to an already fun Pop-Up card.

Another glossy tree beside the sweet scalloped rectangle, which is where we will sign our names.

The rest of the Design Team is linked on the right side of my blog - be sure to check out what they came up with for the Designer Challenge. Karen Burniston will have her project and a group post tomorrow (Wednesday), and you can find her blog HERE.

Winter Deer Twist Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I confess that this card has been done for months. One day this summer I found myself in the area of a fun little scrapbook store "The Scrap Yard".  I hadn't been there in over a year, so I enjoyed some time poking around. The store owner made a point of showing me a new line of paper she'd brought in by the artist Alexandra Renke. I fell in love with the soft water colour looks and picked up several different sheets.

I chose this particular sheet because it had rectangles of lovely water coloured images that I was pretty sure I could cut to work with Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-Up die set. This was the first card I've made with the patterned paper.

The front has a burlap ribbon wrapped around to the inside and one of the printed rectangles from the sheet that was die cut with a rectangle die in the Twist Panel Pop-Up die set. After inking the edges of both, the printed rectangle was adhered to the largest Katherine Label, which is also by Karen Burniston in cahoots with Riley and Company.

This type of pop-up card has been very popular but before this die set you had to to a fair bit of measuring and scoring, and/or use a template that you had to create. The Twist Panel Pop-Up die set allows you to just cut and assemble - all the measuring and scoring etc has been done for you. No wonder it completely SOLD OUT of it's first run and there was a waiting list for the next shipment. They should be available again where you shop and if not be sure to ask for them to be brought in!

I used Karen Burniston's Nature Edges, which has the stitched line above and below the cut line so you can use both the positive and negative portions as I've done here at the top and bottom of the card. I had picked up the deer stamp and die set at the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show a couple of years ago so it was fun to pull it out to add some interest to the bottom of the card.

These water colour images are so pretty. Living in the country, seeing deer, elk and other forest wildlife is a regular occurrence so to me these pieces are meaningful to me as well.

There are lots of dies in this Twist Panel Circle die set - you really get your money's worth! One of the additional dies is this fun heart pop-up. I adhered one here between the last two panels.

I just love the soft colours of this card, paired with the dynamic Twist Panel Pop-Up card. It will fold flat and easily fit into a standard A2 envelope.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Alexandra Renke
Peach, grey card stocks
Stamps - c.c. designs
Deer stamp and die - Local King
Jute ribbon - Stampin' Up

C4C408 Halloween Twist Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and that means we have a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog! Bonnie Sharp is our October 2017 hostess, with Marcie Sharp as our Guest Designer this month. You can find Marcie's blog HERE.

Because it's the third Saturday of the month, Bonnie has a fun sketch for us:

I actually stayed pretty close to the sketch for this one - it's a fun sketch that I will use again for sure.

I couldn't resist this holiday to-go-coffee holiday set from Stampin' Up. I believe it is to accompany the original one from the big catalogue, but I don't have that set. I did however, treat myself to the holiday one! It is layered with a die cut spider web, that came in a package I purchased last year.

Inside the card I used Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-Up and a bunch more Stampin' Up goodies.

This semi-circle strip was leftover from a different project and I was happy that it worked so well on this card!

The pumpkins and small witches hat were fussy cut from patterned paper and the cat is also from patterned paper but I used the new cat punch for it.

A little stamp surgery was required to cut away words from above and below the web label so I can use it for more than just goodies. The words will be easy enough to stamp when I need them but meanwhile, this web label is getting a nice work-out. It is perfect for stamping the front of mini-envelopes too!

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C408.

Wonky stitched rectangle dies - MFT Stamps
Orange, cream, black card stocks
Spider web - American Crafts
Stamps - Stampin' Up
Glitter Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
