Comfort & Joy Gatefold card

It's Fun Fold Friday on my blog and today I'm sharing the 12th and final card in my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies".  I pulled out this "Hello Friend Gatefold" die set by Sizzix to use and since It's December I made a Christmas card. The die set has these lovely rounded top corners, the layering dies and also a couple of different floral dies for the side panels and also 'Flip & Fold' flower dies. I didn't use the florals on this card, but do plan on using this set again in the New Year.

The card is decorated with snowflake stickers, a large die cut snowflake and a stamped sentiment. For the card front I masked off the 'JOY' part of the stamped sentiment because ...

... I added a large JOY die inside to complete the sentiment! I also added this Snowman Joy die (Penny Black) because it just makes me smile. I also used more of the Frosted Forests patterned paper, which I am really enjoying.

I added a panel to the back with a stamped sentiment and this is were we will sign the card.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Circle Flip-Its Card (With an Extra Flap!)

It's safe to say I love Flip-its dies, and have for years. In fact I just checked the labels on the side of my blog and the Flip-its Label says 99 cards. This one makes 100 Flip-it cards! 😳😊  I was scrolling on YouTube and saw that Stephanie Barnard had a video showing how to add and extra flap to a Flip-its card and I immediately watched it. Then I had to go make one! I have all the details on how it's done in my YouTube video:

The card opens like a regular Flip-its ...

... but then you open that centre section and it reveals an entire extra panel for you to decorate as desired! So fun. I pulled out some older patterned paper and stickers to finish off my card. NOTE the stickers were adhered to white cardstock then fussy cut. This gives them stability and allows me to pop them up with foam tape.

It took me awhile to find her video again, but I did and it's linked below for you. Also, she calls it a Hidden Panel which makes more sense but since I called it an extra flap in the video I am leaving it as is. 😉

Edited to add:  This card is my November edition to my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies" as well.

Mini Slimline Pull Tab Card for Halloween

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday on my blog! Today I'm sharing a Mini Slimline card made as the October edition to my monthly series 'Throwback Fun Fold Dies'. I pulled out these VERY OLD pull tab dies from Papertrey Ink. At the time there were very few fun fold dies out there, and I thought these were so fun!

When you pull the tab, the center section lifts up to reveal the stamped sentiment. Aren't those tiny mouse stickers adorable? I added one in the greeting  area and one on the back as well. All of the papers, stickers and ephemera are from Doodlebug Designs. ❤️

When I make a card like this, I tend to make them post card style rather than an opening card. Below is the back of the card, which is where I will add our personal message & signature. The stamp set by Karen Burniston & is retired. It continues to be a set I pull out and use every year!

Grandparents Day Diorama Card

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today's card is the 9th edition to my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies".  I don't even remember how long I have had this die set (Sizzix) but at least 7 years. When I ordered it (from where? Have no idea) I remember thinking it was pretty versatile. It not only creates this Diorama (or Tunnel) card, it also creates gatefold cards and has different drop in dies to create patterns on the gatefold flaps. For today's card I used the Diorama pieces and made a card for my Mother In Law.

I was able to use up the partial 12 x 12" sunflower sheet of patterned paper and also some older sunflower stickers from my stash. The butterfly sticker is also many years old and was the last one on the sheet. Perfect!

The Love You die is from Karen Burniston's Word Set 9 Love.

I wrote the sentiment with a black marker and added the remaining sunflower stickers. I love the shine from those mirrored hearts too!

Southwest Pop Up Birthday Card

This card is the eighth edition to my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies" and I made a masculine pop up Birthday card. The patterned paper has gold foiled bits, so I added narrow gold Washi tape for additional shine.

The label was cut from white cardstock and then I used brushes to ink the edges. The desert border was die cut from a strip of black cardstock, then I laid the same label die over it to determine what area I wanted to keep for the label, and I ran it through my die cutter again. That gave me a border with the bottom edge in the exact size and shape of my label for perfect placement. The sentiment was stamped then the label was popped up with thin foam tape.

Inside I used an older die by Karen Burniston - the Happy Birthday Pop it Ups die - which is from her days as a designer at Elizabeth Craft Designs. I haven't used it in a long time so it was fun to pull it out again.

Side view ...

I cut the Happy Birthday twice, once from black and once from green. Then the black one was adhered on top of the green with a slight off set.

Happy Summer Flip-Its Card

Today I'm sharing the final 'End of School Year' cards made for our Grandkids. This one is for Olivia, who will be going into Grade 7 in the fall. Isn't that amazing? She is still holding her own against Pulmonary Hypertension, and considering the Dr's didn't think she would make it to 4 years old ... we are constantly amazed, honoured and grateful for our beautiful granddaughter.

I used an older die for this card, as it is also the 7th edition to my Monthly Series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies". I have checked and this one is no longer available, but the Rectangle Flip-it's is and I will link it below for you. The only difference is the accessory dies that come with the two sets, and of course this one has the separate die to cut notches into the front rectangle to hold a gift card. This one is the Gift Card Flip-Its but I didn't use the notches.

I pulled out a really old 12 x 12" paper package, and used the stickers that were included as well. There is room for us to write our personal message on the reverse side of the front, center rectangle.

I also wanted to slip the grands a little cash to use on their summer adventures, but time was short  and I was already running late since they have been out of school almost a week already. So I pulled out this older die from Papertrey Ink. It die cuts this little folder that would hold a gift card, but it worked for cash too! I tucked each one into their card envelopes.

The notches cut with the die, which holds the gift card/cash from slipping out of the top, and the second one holds the flap closed. I have used this die LOTS over the years! NOTE:  I checked and it is no longer available.

When I was finished with the card and the cash envelopes, I decided I wanted to just FINISH up with the leftover papers & stickers as it's been hanging around in my craft room for too many years. I made eleven Birthday cards to donate to my Mom's old nursing home and I'll be sharing those later this month.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards

June - 34 cards
July so far - 3 cards

Additional Supplies:
Gift Card Flip-Its - the Stamps of Life
Patterned paper & stickers - Paradise Beach, Echo Park
White card stock
Gift card/cash pocket die - Papertrey Ink (long retired)

Fun Fold Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing the 6th card in my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies" and I started with this Ticket Fold-a-Long die set. I thought these dies were fun, and ended up with three different Fold-a-Longs over the time they were available.

This one (Ticket Fold-a-Long) uses a bunch of older items in my stash, including the lovely vintage paper (from K & Co). I don't know what it is about outline floral dies that grabs me, but they do. This one is an older die set from Stampin' Up ... the year it was released there were two that I REALLY wanted, but I had to choose and ended up with this set (Hand Penned). LOL, I do keep an eye on the Facebook group where Canadian's can purchase retired Stampin' Up sets though ... in case someone is selling the other set I wanted. 😊

I guess I should call this more of a hybrid Fold-a-Long card, as I incorporated a 'bendy' card idea for the inside (the band that goes across the inside folding centre) and an accordion folded cardstock spring.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Mountain Scene Flip-Its Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! This is also the 5th edition to my monthly series
Throwback Fun Folds and I'm using the Lively Flip-It's card that was from the Stamps of Life. While I have had the die set for many years, I checked and see that it is available again! This card is actually similar to a 5 x 7" Flip-It's card I made back in February, at least in the colour scheme. I used a different paper pad, this one is a 6 x 6" and I linked it below.

I always like it when a fun fold die set comes with the layering dies, and the Stamps of Life always make sure you get lots of bang for your buck. It makes it so easy to create a polished looking card when the layers are perfectly sized and have crisp lines. 😊

I added some stamping, die cut birds and a moose and my card is ready to send off.

Slimline Wiper Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing the 4th card in my monthly series: Throwback Fun Folds using a Wiper die set by Lynda Kanase at iCrafter. When they first started out I was on their Design Team and I loved their Wiper dies - this one is the Hello Sunshine Wiper Insert. It is still available, which is great as a lot of my older fun fold dies are long retired. Back then I was also tickled that they can work in a Slimline card so that is what I did today.

This birthday card was made for a grandson who loves Pop Up cards. He was disappointed that his St. Patrick's Day card didn't have a pop up inside, so I made sure his birthday card did. 😊 I added the Gus & Gertie stamps (Taylored Expressions) because I just love them and haven't used them nearly enough.

Below is a peek at the inside and the dog/balloons slide up from the left with the clouds sliding up from the right as the card is opened.

I added Karen Burniston's Celebrate to the front of the insert piece and stamped the sentiment off to the left. The balloons and dog noses are nice and shiny with a Nuvo Glaze coating.

Disney Themed Step/Block Card

Today I'm sharing the March edition to my series "Throwback Fun Fold dies". This is a birthday card for a 5 year old who celebrated her twin sisters birthday in Disneyland. I pulled out this old step/block card die from Spellbinders and the same patterned paper I used for the twins cards shared earlier this month.

Using a Lawn Fawn alphabet die set, I added her name to the blocks inside the card.

I added a panel to the back with a stamped sentiment and room to sign our names. I also added a number of mirrored heart sequins for lots of shimmer and shine.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Mountain Flip It Card

This card is the February edition to my series 'Throwback Fun Fold Dies'.  I pulled out the 5 x 7" Square Flip-Its die set which was sold at the Stamps of Life a few years ago when I purchased it. I checked though and it is no longer available so I can't link it for you. NOTE - this die requires a die cutting machine with a larger than 6" opening.

We see the beautiful Rocky Mountains from where we live in southern Alberta so I have an affinity for mountain themed patterned paper. I picked up this particular package last Spring and realized that I needed to get it out and play with again.

I like that so many companies are now coming out with dies to cut out their sentiments, as that allows you to add foam tape for dimension as I did on the front.  For this card, I added the birthday words onto the back and that is where we will sign our name.

Late last year I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February so far - 46 cards

Additional Supplies:
Square Flip-Its Plus, Stephanie Barnard (Sizzix) - Discontinued
In The Pines - Stampin' Up
Blue cardstock

Hello Butterfly Easel Card

Today's card is the first one in my series 'Throwback Fun Fold Dies'. As I mentioned in **THIS** post, I am going to start running several different monthly series this year. That will allow me to use a lot more of the stamps & dies already in my craft room and share even more ideas with you.

The die I used is called "Lively Stand Up" card, and I bought it many years ago from the Stamps of Life. Since it creates an A2 sized Easel Card I carefully lined up the die on a printed & foiled A2 notecard also from my stash. This card was truly a 'stash buster', as even the butterfly on the front is from an Ideology package I've had for years.

While the die cuts a small notch that you would normally tuck the front into to make it 'stand up', I prefer adding a bumper raised up with foam tape. That was cut from another one of the printed/foiled note cards in the same package. I added some brown patterned paper and a few gems as well as the die cut hello. That die was in the same package as the Lively Stand Up.

Inside you can see the remainder of that second note card panel and a stamped sentiment.

... another look at the pretty foiling from the note cards ...

A couple of times last year, I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since a lot of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.
2023 Tally:  22 Cards

Lively Stand Up - the Stamps of Life (retired)
Printed Card Foiled - Hobby Lobby
Brown patterned paper - Natural Botanical, Hobby Lobby
Lively Frameless - Sizzix (retired)
