Hold onto your hats - I have a whole pile of cards (14!!) to share today! Back in August, I offered to donate birthday cards for the residents at my Mom's nursing home, and our eldest daughter informed me they had blown through the stack of kids birthday cards I gave her for Mother's Day and she needed more quickly.
I received this cute panda stamp set last Spring from Stampin' Up's Sale-A-Bration, but I hadn't used it. There were panda cards all over the internet using this set, and I think I was tired of it before I even opened mine. But I knew how well it would work for a whole bunch of birthday cards - especially since our Calgary Zoo has some Panda's on loan and everyone loves the Panda's!
These cards took about a week to put together ... I would just go into my craft room and do a little at a time. I had forgotten how much I like working assembly line style, so I really enjoyed making these.
First of all, I used my MISTI for all the stamping. I loved getting 24 perfectly centred, perfectly stamped images on my die cut circles. I used the MISTI for all the inside words as well, as it makes it so fast to work in multiples and there were no 'oopses' that resulted in a tossed card. I started by cutting the stitched circles then stamping the panda's. The next time I went into my craft room I heat embossed the Happy Birthday on scraps of black card stock and die cut those out a few at a time. Then I was ready to play!
First up is a pair of birthday cards that uses MFT Blueprints #31 die set. The patterned paper I used is from a stack I've had for several years, and I was happy to make such a dent in it with all these cards.
For the next four cards, I used the January 2013 Viva La Verve sketch as my inspiration.
I added enamel accents in coordinating colours to look like the panda's are juggling.
Finally, these last eight cards use a simple layout with the patterned paper and stamping as the main focus.
Using the large fishtail banner dies from Pink and Main, I was able to use up a lot of the larger scraps that were in the paper stack from previous projects.
I thought these were fun cards for kids, and only put two of this style in the monthly bags I work on for the Seniors. The rest went to our daughter for the grands to take to all the birthday parties they get invited to. Then my daughter informed me that a lot of the parties are for TWINS, which is why I also made her the previously shared cards. We wanted each of the twins to have their own card and not a duplicate of each other's. Note, I rarely post my cards in the same order I make them.
