Hello crafty friends ...
The Fun Friday Challenges come with two chances to win prizes!!
Comment on the YNS Blog, Instagram or Facebook pages for a chance to win a free stamp set. Comment on all three to increase your chances, but comments must be left by August 26th 2020. The winner will be announced on August 28th on the YNS Blog.
More details about the prizes at the end of my post.
I started my card with black card stock because I wanted the contrast with the rainbow stamping on the Slimline panel. The Slim Striped Panel Die was cut from white matt coated card stock. After cutting I applied strips of double sided tape on the back side so I could keep everything together without any of the stripes falling away. I wrapped teal seam binding around towards the left side which helps break up all the horizontal lines.
Then I pulled out the long image from the Painted Shapes and stamped on each one of the stripes in rainbow colours of dye ink. The sentiment from Positive Affirmations was white heat embossed on a black die cut circle, and adhered with foam tape. Then, for the DECORATIONS part of the challenge, I added lots of Gumdrops and a seam binding bow.
Inside I created a Gift Card Holder using the bottom portion of the Slim Striped Panel Die to create a pocket. After cutting the white panel and wrapping it with rainbow striped Washi Tape from my stash, I added some lettering and stamped hearts from both the Painted Shapes and Positive Affirmations.
To avoid the gift card catching on the open stripes, I backed the pocket with acetate. That also gave me a place to add yet another Gumdrop. I do love Your Next Stamp's Gumdrops!
Then I made a mistake. Well, not really a mistake but I tried something I wish I hadn't. I added narrow strips of foam tape around the sides and bottom of the gift card pocket and adhered it inside the card. Normally I suggest using wet glue for this, as dry adhesives such as tapes lift a little from the width of the gift card and it can get stuck in the adhesive.
That isn't the issue with the foam tape - the issue is that the gift card is loose and flops around. So when I go to gift this, I will be sure to use a piece of the same Washi Tape to secure the gift card inside the pocket. Next time I make a Gift Card Holder, I'll be going back to using just wet glue.
I hope you enjoyed my Design Team project and I've inspired you to make a few Gift Card Holders for your stash!
