'Put Your Claws Up' Challenge Card

Hello crafty friends ...

It's time for a new Challenge at Your Next Stamp - the Fun Friday Challenge #138 has a theme of "Lots of Layers".

The Fun Friday challenges come with two chances to win prizes!!
Comment on the YNS BlogInstagram or Facebook pages for a chance to win a free stamp set. Comment on all three to increase your chances, but comments must be left by May 6th 2020. The winner will be announced on May 8th on the YNS Blog.

---More details about the prizes at the end of my post---

I die cut the YNS Wave Panel Die from navy card stock and also from the fishy patterned paper. I inlay the patterned pieces into the panel die and secured everything to my card base. Then I had fun decorating and layering. I stamped the fish, octopus and crabs, as well as adding the sentiment to a matted Fishtail Banner.

I took a close up photo so you can see that I added acetate behind the small porthole for a fun detail, and the little crabs have tiny wiggly eyes on them.

Inside, I used more layers. The white stitched panel has a cutaway oval using the Rounded Panel Shapes which was backed with a scrap of the fishy patterned paper. Then I added another Octopus and Fish, and a Gumdrops for good measure.

Here is a close up of the inside, where the goofy octopus and the fish both have Glossy Accents on their eyes. I added Glossy Accents to the fish eyes on the card front as well, but it shows up much better in real life.

The Fun Friday Challenge #138 runs through May 8th 2020 at midnight. One random participant will win a $15 gift certificate to the Your Next Stamp store.  If YNS stamps or dies are the focal point then the winner receives an additional $5 gift certificate for a total of $20!!  The winner will be announced on the YNS Blog the Sunday after the challenge closes. Check it all out on the Your Next Stamp blog HERE.

Sympathy Card Duo with Roses

Hello crafty friends

I spent some time in February, making sympathy cards to replenish my stash. I found this partial sheet of patterned paper in my stash and not only was it big enough to cover the front of my larger card, there was enough leftover for an A2 card as well! This patterned paper was a 'free with purchase' that I'd had for a couple of years, so I was happy to use it up with these cards.

I added a touch of glitter to the flowers, inked the edges of the card and stamped the sentiment on a stitched, scalloped oval.

Here is a peek at the inside ... I had a package of small water colour clear stickers and they matched the paper and theme perfectly.

The smaller, A2 card has a YNS Scalloped rectangle with inked edges, and I added the same glitter and water colour stickers to the stamped sentiment and flowers.

Finally, here is a peek at the inside of the smaller card.

I think I'm good for sympathy cards now!

Supplies:
Michaels large card and envelope
Patterned paper - from my stash
Stitched Scalloped rectangle - Your Next Satmp
Stitched Mini Scallop Ovals - MFT Stamps
Stitched Rectangle die set - Your Next Stamp

Stickles
Sympathy2Stamp (on the small card) - the Stamps of Life

I added two stitched squares inside along with a couple of more stickers from the sheet and still had lots of room to write my note.

"A Gift For You" Pop Up Gift Card Holder Duo

Hello my crafty friends

I actually made these last year and didn't get them posted! I made a selection of Gift Card Holders for a friend and also for our Daughter In Law's Birthday last summer, and used a Pop Up Gift Card Holder die by Lynda Kanase.

The 'A Gift For You' is an older, retired die by Karen Burniston and it works perfectly for Gift Card Holders!

I used my Punch Board to create envelopes that fit the Gift Card holders perfectly.

The second gift card holder has a butterfly on the front, as well as the 'A Gift For You' die.

I like that the die set makes for this fun Pop Up with the slots to insert a Gift Card.

Finally here is a look at the two of them together ...

Supplies:
Card, Gift Card Holder Pop-Up - Lynda Kanase
Patterned paper - K & Company
Stitched scalloped rectangle dies - Your Next Stamp
Stitched rectangle dies - Your Next Stamp

Bear Slimline Thank You Card

Hello crafty friends ...

It's Masculine Care Monday here on my blog, and today I'm sharing a Thank You card I made to send to my brother. My husband and I had been on a 14 day quarantine after returning to Canada in March, and he made sure that we had enough groceries and kept checking on us to be sure we didn't need anything.

I had some of this pretty tree print patterned paper leftover from my Designer Challenge card (which you can see HERE), so that is what I used for the card front. As you can see, I made another Slimline card since I'm enjoying this format lately.

I used the Thank You die from Karen Burniston, cutting it twice from kraft card stock and once from white. After lightly inking the white layer, I adhered the three layers together which gave me a nice sturdy element for the top area of my card.

I've had this bear image for several years - it works so well for masculine cards! The Grass Tuft die from YNS gave him the ground to stand on, and I added three brown Nuvo Drops as an accent.

Inside, I added a small strip of the tree patterned paper, a Kraft strip and a water coloured fish. That left me lots of room to write our note on the white stitched panel.

Supplies:
Kraft, white and brown card stocks
Water Colour Trees patterned paper - Paper Studio
Slimline Stitched rectangle die - Trinity Stamps
Water Colour Pencils
Water Brush
Grin & Bear It (bear and fish stamps) - Local King Rubber Stamps
Grass Tuft Die - Your Next Stamp
1066 Thank You - Karen Burniston
Nuvo Drops

Card size - 3.5 x 8.5", fits in a #10 Business Envelope

Chevrons, Stars and Scooter Birthday Card Duo

Hello crafty friends ...

If you follow my blog you know I rarely post my cards in the same order I make them. Back in February I pulled out an older patterned paper pad by American Crafts and decided I wanted to USE IT UP. I ended up making over seventy five card fronts to use when I make Birthday Cards for my Mom's old nursing home. You can see all those details HERE if you are interested.

One of the 12 x 12" papers was printed with Polaroids, some had patterns (like the stripe below) and others  had images (like the scooter). For this card I fussy cut around the top of the scooter and adhered it over the striped one for a card embellishment. A couple of little puffy clouds and it was ready to add to my card.

For the second card, I pulled out the YNS Polaroid Frame with Piercing Marks die, cutting it from kraft card stock and wrapping white Peel Off Border Stickers around the bottom portion.

The star was die cut from one of the polaroid backgrounds and adhered over a woodgrain pattern.

Finally, here is a peek at the inside - both cards were done the same.

These are the last two cards from the paper pad and I can't tell you how satisfying this was to do! I'll be sharing other donation cards made with the card fronts in the coming months.

Supplies:
White, tan & kraft card stocks
Vertical stitched Strips - MFT Stamps
Banner dies - MFT Stamps
Rectangle dies - Hero Arts
White Peel Off Border Stickers - Dazzles (Hot Off The Press)
Stamps - Poppy Stamps
Small Stapler - Tim Holtz
Sequins
Stickles
Cloud Panel Die (fall away clouds from previous projects) - Your Next Stamp
Polaroid Die with Piercing Marks - Your Next Stamp

Card sizes - both, standard A2 (4.25 x 5.5")

I used up all of my Easter Cards this year, so decided to make a couple more so I'd be a little ahead for 2021.  Or maybe I just wanted to play with the Bring On Spring Shaker Kit from Queen & Company again. Wink.

I had a lot of fun creating striped Easter eggs one afternoon, some shakers and some with contrasting stripes. This one is a shaker and I added different coloured shaker filler inside each of the stripes.

Slimline Spring Card

Hello crafty friends ...

Your Next Stamp is having a fun series to share inspiration with all of you AND give you a chance to win one of THREE YNS e-gift cards!!! How fun is that, right? Today is my day to share a card.

I am really enjoying the Slimline card format these days, so I knew that is what I wanted to make and I also wanted a card to send to a friend. We can all use a little Happy Mail right now! The cute lamb on the bike is from the Life Is Sweet set so once I decided to use that one, I was off and running.

I cut a stitched panel from white card stock, then used various YNS dies to cut my scene from that panel. After inking and colouring the different pieces, it was all pieced back together like a puzzle.

I'm a huge fan of the Your Next Stamp dies - look at the lamb image and how the die cuts away the portion between her legs and the bike.

Inside the card, I cut away the stitched puffy clouds revealing the white card base. Just a fun detail when you open the card.

I still had lots of room to write a note on my card and pop it in the mail.

Details:   Series runs 4/20 - 4/28.  The more you comment the greater your odds of winning.  All comments left during the series on IG and the Blog will be entered in to a random drawing of Three $25.00 YNS egift cards.   All comments must be left by 4/30 at midnight est and the 3 winners will be announced on 5/2.

'You Are Loved' Valentine Pop Up Card

Hello crafty friends ...

I was packing up the patterned paper from a previous project, and this 'Your Are Loved' cut apart was in with the scraps. I decided to make a pop up Valentine to put away for next year, and pulled out Karen Burniston's Rockin' Rectangle die set. I'm sharing it today rather than holding onto the photos until next February.

I die cut a large heart shape from the front printed panel then die cut the Happy Valentine's Day from pink recycled packaging. I didn't just glue it into the opening though ...

... instead I adhered the greeting to the white card base, and backed the heart opening with acetate! I just love using acetate on my cards this way, and all the shine it gives your card.

Remember you can always see my interactive card videos HERE on YouTube.

The 'You Are Loved' Journal card from the paper pad fit perfectly on the Rockin' Rectangle and it has glossy bits on it as well. I added a few more die cut hearts, and the XOXO was added to the left side for a little balance.

The white stitched rectangle was sitting on my stamping table from a different project, and since it fit so well I used it on the card for a signing block.

Supplies:
1089 Rockin' Rectangle - Karen Burniston
Patterned paper & cut apart - The Little Miss Stack, DCWV
White card stock
Heart dies - Hero Arts
1114 Happy Valentine's Day - Karen Burniston
