Two Mini Slimline Stash-buster Birthday Cards

Usually when I make my Sheetload cards, I do all the cutting and assembly and get the panels all mounted to my card base. THEN I choose what elements/sentiments to use. But for these ones, I pulled out the elements when I was looking through my embellishment binder for a different card. I knew I would have patterned paper that would coordinate and sure enough I did - so made two Mini Slimline cards for my Mom's old nursing home.

The pale flowers above were leftover from a completed Paper Pumpkin card kit, and the Peel Off sticker was water coloured & fussy cut years ago. I used the January 2023 Sheetload for the sketch & cutting guide. 😊

Here is a peek at the inside ... both cards were done with the same sentiment.

Looks like I didn't do a supply list for these cards. I don't always post my birthday donation cards, so maybe I thought I wouldn't be photographing these ones. But HERE is the link for the January '23 Sheetload of Cards.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June - 34 cards
July - 56 cards
August so far - 106 cards!! Definitely a record number of cards for me, but I'm caught up on refilling the birthday donation card bin now. Whew!

Pop Up Wedding Card

When we heard the daughter of very good friends was getting married, I offered to make their  wedding card for the happy couple.  It was a very small wedding, on a beach in Tofino which is on the northern shores of Vancouver Island. It's truly a magical place so I pulled out a bunch of things from my craft room for this card. I have listed them at the end of my post.

I started with a white panel stamped with a scenic stamp with ocean and trees. Perfect for the backdrop of their wedding! The panel was lightly coloured with inks and blending brushes. The golden panel on the front is actually embossed with leaves ... also perfect for the wedding setting. The bride and groom are nature lovers, who spend a lot of time outside hiking, biking etc. I have had this embossed cardstock for YEARS (hoarding it, ha ha) and this was the perfect opportunity to crack into the package.

Since I finally have some new goodies in my craft room I wanted to use my new Forest Window which gave me the trees for the front of my panel and then I added some acetate behind the window and created a shaker that was mounted to the card front.  I also wanted to use this truck die set, which I've had since 2018. 😊  I had also purchased the add on, which is where the Mr & Mrs came from on the back of the truck. The engagement & wedding ring were tucked inside the back of the truck for a bit of whimsy.

Inside I used the Paper Frames Pop Up and more from the Wedding Charms dies (both by Karen Burniston) along with some creamy pearl cardstock and more of the embossed leaves. The sentiment stamps are long retired but they worked perfectly on the little labels in the centre of the pop up.

My friend is a master seamstress, and she made her daughters wedding dress. It was just exquisite with hand sewn lace all down the gown. I loved that the wedding dress charm has the emboss feature so I could make it look 'lacy'.

Finally, champagne glasses to toast the newlyweds!

Whenever I give someone a card made with the Paper Frames Pop Up, they turn it over to view it from the top or bottom ... so here is a top view for you.

It's always nice to create a card that will be hand delivered and not worry about bulk or extra postage.

Foiled Lantern Birthday Card

I really enjoyed creating this Birthday card for a friend and I used hot foiling and metallic cardstocks for LOTS of shimmer & shine.

After hot foiling the Sunburst hot foil plate, I heated up a Mirror Rectangle hot foil plate with the used foil for this stunning reverse foiled sunburst background. Oh, it just makes me happy!  The sentiment was also foiled with the same rainbow foil.

The lantern was die cut from a mottled metallic cardstock and backed with vellum.

Final Birthday Card Group

Over the past couple of weeks I've been sharing Birthday Cards made with cut-aparts (or journal cards) that were cut from a couple of 12 x 12" sheets. This group is the last of them but actually the first group that I made. Ha - I rarely post things in the same order I make them.

I added coordinating patterned paper to the card bases, matted the cut-aparts then popped them up with foam tape. Most of them already had a sentiment or greeting printed on them but for those that didn't, I added one on a fishtail banner like the photo below.

I was so happy with how these cards turned out - they are nice and cheerful for the nursing home residents and I enjoyed putting them all together. Win Win! I have several months of donation cards done ahead now, so I can go back to doing a few here and there to keep up.

Happy Birthday Platform Pop Up Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog. This card is the 8th edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up Cards". I made it for our son's partner (close enough to a Daughter In Law and that is how we think of her ❤️). I knew I wanted to use bright colours and add a die cut greeting on a piece of acetate. But what to add to the front and centre sections???

Well I went through my embellishment binder, which is a large zippered binder filled with baseball card holders and page protectors. I had organized it last year (or the year before?) with odds and ends elements I had cut for cards and didn't use. My Pinkfresh Studio washi tape die cuts are in there too, as well as things I cut multiples of or fussy cut. It's so easy to just flip through the pages to see at a glance what I have. Well - I had a couple of these Snowball the Sheep done and in one of the clear pockets, as well as the fence in another. Ta Da!

Afterwards I dug out the bin where I have all the other Pop it Ups Characters by Karen Burniston when she was designing for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I always loved the size of those characters, and now they are on magnetic sheets and much easier for me to get to. The Party Hat is from one of the character Props, but I don't remember what it's called. I thought that Snowball should be wearing a party hat, since this IS a birthday card!

I also added some self adhesive gems onto the acetate which is fun as they look like they are floating.

This card folds down flat for mailing, but I will likely be hand delivering it to her with her Birthday Gift. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom since she will see it when she takes the card out of the envelope. We can sign it there as well. Usually I add a sentiment on the back, but I am liking this idea and will do it again.

Winter Barn Pop Up Christmas Card

This was such a quick and easy card to put together, and it's perfect for our daughter and family who live on a farm. I loved this pad of patterned paper, which I purchased last year and had saved the barn prints to use one for their holiday card this Christmas.

The panel was cut with a stitched rectangle and added to a 5 x 7" card base. Then I added a fussy cut owl and a stamped sentiment on foam tape. Inside, I used the Katherine Label Pop Up (by Karen Burniston) and another fussy cut image which was perfect for stamping a sentiment on.

Twelve Sheetload Birthday Cards

The May 2023 Sheetload of Cards creates TWELVE cards, and since I'm working at building up my supply of nursing home donation cards, I pulled it out to make these cards. I chose two 12x12" patterned papers and these are the cards I came up with.

Six of them have this lovely floral patterned paper so I added butterflies which were punched from a blue mirrored cardstock.

I used pink ink for the stamping both on the front and on the inside.

The next six cards have a wolf image, and I used some leftover pieces in the paper package to mat the panels and the blue woodgrain scraps for the decorative bit along the left edge. I did have the floral pieces which were meant to go there but I didn't want to use florals for these ones.

Here is the inside of the more masculine cards, with a couple more of the images from the stamp set (Stampin' Up) and a sentiment.

Third Group of Birthday Cards

Today I'm sharing the third set of birthday cards I made using cut-aparts. I cut down several 12 x 12" sheets of cut aparts and made a BUNCH of cards for donating to my Mom's old nursing home. These ones include one 4 x 6" card and three standard A2's.

The cut-aparts (or journal cards) were trimmed and matted with white cardstock before attaching to the card fronts with foam tape. I added sparkle or Nuvo Glaze on each one as well.

Here is a peek at the inside - all four were done the same.

Four School Themed Mini Slimline Cards

I wanted to make the grandkids 'Back To School' cards, and when I went through my bin I found I already had two made.  I needed three more cards so decided to use the January 2023 Sheetload of Cards. That one makes eight Mini Slimline cards, but using partial sheets & leftover pieces I came up with these four cards ...three "Back To School" and one Teacher Thank You card.

The cute images were coloured a long time ago when we were at our cabin so I pulled them out as well as a teacher stamp set.

There were some stickers in the paper package that I used as well, and wrote a message for the grandkids cards.

Christmas Mini Slimline Tri Shutter Card

Today I'm sharing a card that works for a couple of my monthly series ... 12 Months of Christmas, and New Fun Folds! In the past 4 months, I had purchased exactly ONE new paper crafting item ... and this is it. It's the Mini Slimline Tri Shutter Die Set by Divinity Designs. I believe it was released in May, but I didn't end up ordering it until July. I have a number of the fun fold dies by Divinity Designs and I'm always impressed with them. Like the others, this one comes with the layering dies which makes it SO much quicker to complete your card.

The base die cuts and scores your card stock and you can put the layering dies on your patterned paper(s) to take advantage of whatever print you are working with.  I cannot wait to play with this some more. The finished card (folded) is 3.5 x 6" - which is my preferred Mini Slimline size.

Four Square Birthday Cards

I'm back with the second group of birthday cards made using cheerful cut-aparts/journal cards. Last week I shared a group of 15 cards made with the 3 x 4" cut-aparts and todays cards use the square ones that were on the sheets.

The cards are 4-1/4" square so they still fit in a standard A2 envelope. I trimmed each cut-apart down a little so I could matt them with the yellow polka dotted patterned paper & added Stickles on each panel for some birthday sparkle. 😊

I'll be back next week with another group of cards made with the cut-aparts!

Southwest Pop Up Birthday Card

This card is the eighth edition to my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies" and I made a masculine pop up Birthday card. The patterned paper has gold foiled bits, so I added narrow gold Washi tape for additional shine.

The label was cut from white cardstock and then I used brushes to ink the edges. The desert border was die cut from a strip of black cardstock, then I laid the same label die over it to determine what area I wanted to keep for the label, and I ran it through my die cutter again. That gave me a border with the bottom edge in the exact size and shape of my label for perfect placement. The sentiment was stamped then the label was popped up with thin foam tape.

Inside I used an older die by Karen Burniston - the Happy Birthday Pop it Ups die - which is from her days as a designer at Elizabeth Craft Designs. I haven't used it in a long time so it was fun to pull it out again.

Side view ...

I cut the Happy Birthday twice, once from black and once from green. Then the black one was adhered on top of the green with a slight off set.
