C4C 437 Hello Summer Teacher Thank You Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge on the Crazy4Challenges Blog.  Frances Byrne is our hostess for June, and our Guest Designer is Karen Nofziger of Craftily Yours.

France's challenge this week is "Yesterday was "Go Barefoot Day" for our challenge this week include something on your card that is barefoot."

When I think of going barefoot, I think of summer and beaches. While I didn't have need for a beach card, I did need to make another Teacher Thank You  so adapted the challenge to work for that.

I used a bunch of dies from Karen Burniston's newest release for my card, and since I'm in love with shakers these days - I turned the Beach Charms into shaker filler and embellishments. The Word Set 6 - Summer is perfect for teacher cards, don't you think?

I was so excited to see there was a flamingo in the new release. I have no idea why, but I am LOVING flamingoes these days! I simply snipped off the charm hanging hole and added colour with dye inks and brushes. I also used a white gel pen and black marker for some definition on the flamingo

Here is a peek at the inside. The new nesting dies are so cool ... the Crosshatch edge is different than anything out there, and the included straight edge dies give a nice crisp and embossed edge as well. You will be seeing these used a LOT.

For the shaker, I also cut the flip flop charm from white and added black toe straps to tie in with the colour scheme. They managed to hide behind the beach ball and remain there! There is room for both, which is why I chose the oval shape - but those flip flops will not come into view no matter how much I shake the card. Shy flip flops ... too funny.
