Ducks & Bunny Birthday Cards

Hello friends! Here are a few more Birthday Cards - these ones use printed panels from Hunky Dory in a farm theme. They are nice and cheerful and I think the nursing home residents enjoyed them.

I have a plastic envelope filled with sentiments - I’ll stamp several at a time and add the extra’s into the envelope. So I don’t keep track of who makes which stamp. Makes it much faster to finish a card when the sentiments are done and ready to go!

I don’t use a heavyweight cardstock for these cards, so often add a 4 x 5.25” panel inside where I can add the greeting. Since there are layers on the front adding this panel inside helps to balance the card.

When cutting down a letter sized sheet of white card stock for these panels, the first thing I do is trim it to 8” wide and save that 1/2” strip. I also save the 1/2” strips from cutting the panels to 5.25” length and they work great for sentiments.

Cactus Card Duo

Earlier this month I shared four 5x7” Pop Up cards (see HERE) and there were some leftover pieces of the patterned paper. I made these two A2 sized Birthday cards (as well as a 5x7” Get Well card that I will share another day).

The cactus stickers were adhered to white card stock with glue, since they are older and they were losing their adhesive. Then I fussy cut them out so I could layer with them foam tape.

The cute polaroid frame is another older die (from Your Next Stamp). I cut a slightly smaller piece of white card stock than the frame then added some blue with a blending brush and blue ink. That was adhered behind the frame to visually anchor the stickers and the frame was matted with turquoise card stock.

Panda Birthday Card

While I had the panda face die out for our grandson's birthday, I thought it would also make a cute birthday card for our nieces little fella who is turning one. I die cut the panda from a white cardstock square (it cuts the openings rather than the outline) and backed the openings with black cardstock.

I tried something different this time and was very happy with how it worked out! I nestled the die back into the openings and LIGHTLY brushed grey ink over the die and onto the paper. The die acted as a mask and when I lifted it off you could more easily see the round face of the panda.

I have had the patterned paper (which is double sided) for a year or two so I wanted to use it. The card base is 5 x 6.5", I cut the patterned paper to fit then matted it with black. One of the party hats was fussy cut and popped up with foam tape on the panda's head. A little Pops of Color on the panda's nose for some sparkle, a bakers twine bow and the card front was finished.

Here is a peek at the inside ... the red & white star paper is the print that is on the reverse of the party hat print. I used the leftover patterned paper for a couple more birthday cards using the March '25 Sheetload and will share those another day.

Six Celebration Birthday Cards

This is it! My last post using this older 6x6" paper pad & coordinating ephemera - it's all been used up now. Oh, how I love to use things up. 

There were a couple of full sheets and some leftover strips that I just assembled until I was happy with how they looked I also added a little birthday sparkle with Stickles glitter glue.

Four Birthday Cards

I needed to make a pair of birthday cards for our nephew's twin girls, so pulled out this older 6x6" paper pad. I love it but tend to 'save it for special cards'. The cut aparts are just darling, and the balloons are embossed and shiny.

Basing my cuts on the June 2021 Sheetload of Cards, I made four cards - two of them will be donated to my mom's old nursing home and the two with the cut aparts will be popped into the mail. I added some sparkling peel off dots and glitter glue to make them a little extra special.

Fifth Set of Birthday Cards

Today I'm sharing the fifth & final set of Birthday Cards I made using a 6x6 paper pad & coordinating ephemera. You can see the first batch HERE, the 2nd set HERE, the 3rd set HERE and the 4th set HERE if you are curious! (So far, I've made 20 cards)

I took a couple of evenings, cutting down the papers in the pack to work with the June 2021 Sheetload of Cards (a favourite). 

Then I chose coordinating ephemera for each card and had everything stored together in a plastic bag. I know how busy things are going to get in the next couple of months, so I wanted to get a jump on my nursing home donation cards. That way I could just reach into the bag and pull out the pieces to quickly complete a couple of cards!

These ones are all the same inside, and I used an old Stampin' Up banner punch & some scraps to add a little colour inside.

I was able to use what was left in the paper package and the remaining ephemera for these cards. I love to use things up!

Fourth Set of Birthday Cards

Today I'm sharing the fourth set of Birthday Cards I made using a 6x6 paper pad & coordinating ephemera. You can see the first batch HERE, the 2nd set HERE and the 3rd set HERE if you are curious! (So far, I've made 16 cards)

I took a couple of evenings, cutting down the papers in the pack to work with the June 2021 Sheetload of Cards (a favourite). These four cards don't use the Sheetload, but using these full sheets cut to 5.25 x 4" left me with severe 2" strips to use. Most of them were shown with the 3rd set of cards - remember I rarely end up posting things in the same order I make them. 😊

Then I chose coordinating ephemera for each card and have everything stored together in a plastic bag. Third Set of Birthday Cards

Today I'm sharing the third set of Birthday Cards I made using a 6x6 paper pad & coordinating ephemera. You can see the first batch HERE and the 2nd set HERE if you are curious! (So far, I've made 12 cards)

I took a couple of evenings, cutting down the papers in the pack to work with the June 2021 Sheetload of Cards (a favourite). These four cards don't use the Sheetload, but made good use out of the leftover 2" paper strips along with one full sheet. Haha - cutting that sheet down to 5.25 x 4" left another 2" strip to use up (see the card in the upper right). Then I chose coordinating ephemera for each card and have everything stored together in a plastic bag. I know how busy things are going to get in the next couple of months, so I want to get a jump on my nursing home donation cards. This way I can just reach into the bag and pull out the pieces to quickly complete a couple of cards!

September 2024 Sheetload of Cards

Well this is exciting - not only is it time for a new Sheetload of Cards, this month it is based on one of my video's AND I am the Guest Designer!  I have a walkthrough of my cards on YouTube as well:  

The original video is still one of my most popular, which makes me happy. You can find it HERE if you are curious.  It makes three Mini Slimlines with three sheets of 6x6 patterned papers and NO leftover pieces! 

The September 2024 Sheetload yields twelve cards and uses three 12x12" sheets of patterned paper. Again, there are no leftover pieces. I did change up the images and greetings so I wouldn't have twelve identical cards, and while most of the birthday ones will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home - I think they are cute and will be keeping one or two for my stash. 

Again, I'm holding onto summer because I am NOT ready for cooler weather. So I made my cards with a Bee theme. Some will be sent out for Happy Mail and the rest are birthday cards. (All the supplies are listed below.)

I had fun making these up and have some ideas for using this Sheetload again without the fold flap, instead using the left strip and the center strip combined on the card front. 🤷‍♀️

Four Journal Card Birthday Cards

I pulled out some Project Life Journal Cards and made birthday cards for donating to my Mom's old nursing home. I've had the journal cards for a couple of years and initially purchased them to use for this very reason. But then I forget to use them, ha ha. They are sized 3 x 4" and I added two to each card front.

The background panel was embossed with a dots embossing folder for a little somethin' somethin' and I added a stamped greeting directly on the journal card. Bling was accomplished with gold foil bee stickers 😊

Ball Cap Birthday Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! I am so happy with today's card AND that with the strip of patterned paper I USED UP that older 6x6" paper pad I've been working on. Woot!!!  I guess when you have paper pads that you pick away at for years and years, eventually you get to the point where there aren't many sheets left in them. I've been able to use up a couple of pads already this year and I love that. Usually I feel like my patterned paper supply is never ending, that it must multiply on it's own overnight

I have had this Hats Off bundle for a couple of years and definitely don't use it enough. I really enjoyed making this card and have kept the set out to use again. But I keep getting pulled away with florals, since it's summer so .....   

The hat was stamped on white card stock then die cut. I added the colour with a water brush dipped onto the lid of the ink pad. I probably should have used water colour paper but I'm a lazy stamper and used what I had close by. In the end, I loved the worn look but doubt I can replicate it a second time.

This one is going into my stash!

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog and today I'm sharing a birthday card for my stash. I've been working at using up this older 6x6" paper pad and was down two three 2x6" strips (and lots of small scraps). I used two of the strips for this card and saved the final one for a card to share another day.

Once again I used the Game Controller die - it just worked so well with the patterned paper, how could I not?

Trio of Birthday Cards with Bees & Flowers

When I finished yesterday's Slimline Diamond Z Fold Card, I had some patterned paper leftover. It was a 12x12" sheet and I wanted to use it up rather than hang onto the leftover pieces. These are the three cards I came up with.

The gold foil bee stickers were adhered to white card stock then fussy cut, which allowed me to pop them up with foam tape. The blue polka dot print is actually the reverse side of the floral paper so I was able to make good use out of those leftover pieces! The cards will go to my Mom's old nursing home.

Four More June Sheetload Cards

Earlier this week I shared my June Sheetload of Cards, and as I said in the video I wanted to try ones with a more masculine feel. I looked through one of my 6x6" paper pads and these two prints seemed to work well together. 

Since I had just finished off that Paper Pumpkin kit from 2016 (see yesterday's post) the stamp set and star enamel elements were still sitting on my stamping table. I used them to finish off the card fronts, then added a stamped sentiment using a different stamp set for the inside.

Ice Cream Shaker Card

Every July (on a certain day) my Grandpa would take my Mom to the Soda Shop in their little town for an Ice Cream Sundae. She continued the tradition with my brother and I even once we were living on our own!  When my Dad could no longer drive, we would make sure my Mom got her ice cream sundae on that day. Now that she is in heaven, we keep that tradition going with our children and grandchildren. It's a happy way to honour her memory!  I also send them an ice-cream themed card.

Today I'm sharing the first ice cream card that I'll be sending this year and I couldn't resist making this one a shaker card. Or Faux Shaker.  Or Edge to Edge Shaker.  Or one of the other names these go by 😂.  

I cut the patterned paper to 4 x 5.25" and cut a piece of transparency 5 x 6.25" (1" bigger all around). Scoring the transparency to fit around the decorated piece of patterned paper, I mitred the corners and attached it to the back of the patterned paper on 3 sides. After pouring in the sequins on the front side, I attached that one transparency edge on the back and my 'faux shaker was finished. The ice cream element, gem stickers & word die were added on top of the transparency and the whole piece was adhered to the front of my card.

Inside I added some scalloped circles, die cut phrase and gem stickers - which were attached with a folded paper spring.
