Adventure Pop-Up Father's Day Card

Today I'm sharing a fairly simple pop-up card I made for our son-in-law for Father's Day. The patterned paper takes centre stage as he loves to travel and that winding road just spoke to me for him. The card base is 6.5 x 5", but I cut it down to 6.25" since the paper is 6x6" square. That left me with a smaller white border on each side which I liked better. (The paper was cut to 5x6")

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Little Twist Panel Pop Up die set, which I haven't had out for a while. The stamps are all older ones from my stash and listed below if you are curious.

I also added a panel on the inside bottom of the card before adding the mechanism, as it felt like it needed some balance and stability. That also helps the mechanism work smoother and it just feels better in my hand.

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - Watercoloured Landscapes 1.0, Paper Rose
5x6.5" card base and envelope
Adventure - Wild Whisper
Little Twist Panel Pop Up - Karen Burniston
Birds & tree stamps - Here's to you, March 21 Paper Pumpkin
Happy Father's Day - Tie-Riffic, Reverse Confetti
Short Rectangles Crosshatch - Karen Burniston

'Hello Sunshine' Paper Pumpkin Alternate Card with a Pop Up!

Each week I have been sharing my alternate cards made with this older Paper Pumpkin Kit "No Matter The Weather" from March 2020. For this one I used one of the smaller cards & envelopes in the kit - it's approximately 3.5 x 5". I love the lined envelopes that come with these kits!

Adding a stamped sentiment from the Rainbow of Happiness set and Nuvo Glaze to one pair of rainbows, my card front was done.

Inside, I added the sun from Karen Burniston's Tropical Scene, and the Hello Sunshine from her Word Set 6 - Summer. The mechenism is the Little Twist Panel Pop Up. I love how it fits in a variety of sized cards!

The rainboot stamps are probably my favourite out of the two sets that were included in the kit - so I fussy cut two pair and added one pair to each of the outer pop up panels. KB's Labels & Frames Crosshatch had the perfect sized die for our personal message.

I'll be back next week with another alternate project created with this kit. 😊

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June so far -14 cards

Additional Supplies:
No Matter The Weather Paper Pumpkin kit, March 2020
Rainbow of Happiness - Stampin' Up
Alcohol markers
White cardstock

Stashbuster Pop Up Cards for Easter

As I have mentioned in other posts, I am making an effort to USE UP a bunch of my Easter supplies ... stickers, ephemera, pre-stamped and coloured images. Just stuff that has been hanging around for toooo long. I have made a big dent in it too ... and next year I will be able to purchase some new goodies for the season.

Today's cards are stashbuster cards and I made them all into pop ups too. I have a walkthrough of the cards on YouTube:

This card was actually the last one I created, and used up some of the leftover papers etc from  the other six cards 😊.

I have had this patterned paper for several years, and have both the 12 x 12" AND the 6 x 6" pads. They must have been a screaming deal, ha ha. So I used one of the 6 x 6" pieces to create the explosion inside and decorated it with the cut-aparts from the smaller pad as well.

For the other six card fronts I used an older Sheetload sketch, February 2020. I used the paper layout only, not the 'nested string' etc that was shown on the sketch.

The Peeps on the card below were in the little bin of pre-done embellishments I have ... initially they were made using this same paper pad and I had done enough for two cards. Glad to have used them up this year.

This card used a sweet sticker and a die cut word. It was done so long ago I didn't even remember who makes the Easter die, but I found it on Simon Says Stamp. It was also in that little bin.

Inside that card I used another sticker onto a stitched oval and that was added inside with one of Sam Calcotts paper springs. I'll link her video below if you want to watch it to see how she uses them.

This cute Riley the Moose image was also in the bin ... all coloured and everything. I guess I must not have needed any more Easter cards the year I coloured it so into the bin it went.

For the inside of that card I used Karen Burniston's Little Twist Pop Up, but without the accordion folded panel that normally goes across the arms. There is less bulk and I always like showing you different ways you can use your dies. I also used her Easter Charms, cutting them from pastel mirrored card stock scraps.

NOTE:  I cut the bunny charm on the back side of the mirrored card stock to get the reverse image. 😊

'Hello' Twist Panel Card - Another Sneak Peek!

Today I'm sharing another card featuring Karen Burnston's upcoming release ... this one uses the new Little Twist Panel and I wanted to show you how well it works in a 4-1/4" square card. This is a great size card, as it will still fit in an A2 envelope for mailing.

My card is held closed with a Belly Band, and since all of the dies by Karen Burniston work together pulled out some previously released items as well. The crosshatch label though? That's part of the new release - the Rectangles and Labels Crosshatch. We are pretty excited about this set, as the rectangles are sized to fit a 5 x 7" card!

This pop up set is a smaller version of the hugely popular Twist Panel Pop Up and it's quick and easy to assemble. Two of them fit side by side along a Slimline card, which you will see some of the Design Team have already come up with samples for!

There are also two slots that cut with the die and allow for an interlocking fishtail banner to go through for even more dimension. For my card today, I used the same red cardstock as the card base, and decorated one of the banners with a small enamel heart.

The papers and 'Thinking of You' tag are all from Doodlebug, and the signing block uses the same Rectangles & Labels Crosshatch set as I used on the front. See the little frame around the signing block? That is sized to go around the outer edge of the Label Frame Pop Up which was previously released. Yeah!

Below you can see the whole new release, which will be shipping on February 20.

Late last year I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Mini Slimline - Just a Note

I hadn't really intended to use this card as one of the Sneak Peeks for Karen Burniston's upcoming release, but since it IS Valentine's Day today and there are lots of hearts on this card, I decided to go ahead. The sneak peek part is on the inside. 😊

This Mini Slimline card uses papers, cut aparts, stickers and ephemera from Doodlebug Designs, but that adorable little envelope? It's from Karen Burniston's Mailbox Pop Up.

The new Little Twist Panel Pop Up is a smaller version of the hugely popular Twist Panel Pop Up and you can see how well it fits in a smaller card. This one is 3.5" wide!

Since I always like to show you different ways to use your dies, I also only used the mechanism - the part with the arms, and not the accordion piece that goes over top. I did use both main pieces in tomorrow's card, but just by adding the included rectangles and some ephemera to the arms - I ended up with a nifty little pop up with lots of motion and not very much bulk.

Below you can see the whole new release, which will be shipping on February 20.
