C4C402 Glittery Desert Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.  Rebecca Ednie is our hostess this month and our Guest Designer for September is Teresa Kline. You can see Teresa's blog HERE

This is Rebecca's challenge: "Summer water + sunshine always makes me think of glitter. Let's use lots of glitter on our projects this week. You get brownie points if you use more than one colour or use it in more than one way!"

Wow - as much as I like shimmer & shine on a card, one that featured glitter was stumping me. Then I remembered the beautiful glittered embossing powders I picked up at the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show a couple of years ago. And since I have access to my Southwest themed stamps now - it was like a lightbulb went off in my head and I the card practically made itself.

I did use a stitched square die to cut out the embossed panel, but then I decided I wanted to do a standard sized card. I put the panel back in the square die, with one of the side edges outside the edge of the die and re-cut it. I repeated that on the other side, which gave me a custom sized stitched rectangle!

I swiped a scrap of black card stock with Versamark then embossed it with the desert orange embossing powder. The 'Hello' and the heart inside were then die cut from this piece.

The 'BE HAPPY' dies come with the Blueprints #11 die set and I don't get to use it nearly often enough.

The green and blue glitter paper was another purchase from the same show - I had gone with my friend B and we each bought one colour then split them so we each had both the blue and green.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C402.

Gold and Butterflies Z Fold Card

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog and I have a pretty Z Fold card to share today. The card started with a piece of leftover patterned paper that I had used to decorate a gift bag.

I have had these butterfly dies for a long time and don't often use them because they are frustrating! The papers stick inside them but this time I used waxed paper and that helped.  There are gold foiled bits in the paper so I used some gold foil card stock on the butterfly and ovals to tie it all together.

Inside I used the spinner from the Rectangle Pull Card, a discontinued die set by Karen Burniston, to animate the butterfly  in the fold.

This one went into the stash!

Supplies
Patterned paper - K & Company
Gold foil card stock - Stampin' Up
White card stock
Stitched oval dies - MFT Stampms
Butterfly dies - Spellbinders
Happy thoughts - Lawn Fawn
Wink of Stella
Rectangle Pull Card (spinner) - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

C4C400 Cheerful Squirrel Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our August 2017 Hostess is Raquel Mason and Fran Sabad is our Guest Designer. You can find Fran's Blog HERE.  If you noticed this is the 400th challenge for the blog!!

Here is Raquel's challenge this week: Back to School – All the summer fun has come to an end for teachers and students. Let’s make a card to help cheer someone up, any cheerful theme or image will do.

I have a bright and cheery Pop-Up card to share today, using a bunch of dies by Karen Burniston. I had a leftover piece of this polka dot patterned paper that I did not want to find a spot for. It was with some pieces of green and turquoise card stock that had been used for a different card, so I combined them and added the cute squirrel from the Woodland Animals.

Inside I used the Katherine Label Pop-Up, which is quickly becoming a favourite of not just me but several of Karen Burniston's Design Team!

I was able to use up everything but about a 1" square of the patterned paper so that made me happy.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C400.

Lighthouse Card Duo

Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog and I have a pair of masculine lighthouse cards to share today. I made one into a birthday card to donate to Seniors Secret Service, and the other has an inspirational verse inside.

I don't have many colours of the Distress Oxide inks, but I sure do love the ones I do have! I used them for the background stippling and blending. There is no reason why this lighthouse stamp set appealed to me but it really really did. These are the first cards I've made with it and I'm looking forward to more playtime for sure.

The insides are pretty much the same, other than the words stamped inside.

Supplies:
Red and white card stocks
Stamps - High Tide, Stampin' Up
Stitched Rectangle dies - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Word stamps - Stampin' Up
Bakers Twine

You're Awesome Twist Circle Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

If you follow my blog, you know that our young Granddaughter Olivia suffers from Pulmonary Hypertension. This is a rare, degenerative disease with no cure. There is a lot of care required, and many visits to the Children's Hospital both here in Calgary and in Edmonton. So I like to send my daughter Love Notes every ones in awhile. This card was made for her.

I used Karen Burniston's Snowman Twist Circle Pop-Up - that die is so much fun. People who receive one of these cards open and close it several times to watch the centre circle twist and pop-up as the card is opened.  For this one I used some new patterned paper and an older stamp set from my collection.

Yesterday's card was also made with the Snowman Twist Circle but it looks completely different. These Pop-Up dies can be used for so many different occasions, and when you get to choose the card size, that even adds to the versatility.

The printed piece below was also in the paper stack, I simply fussy cut it and adhere it to the left side of the card. I liked that saying with the cactus, and that it is pearl embossed as well.

On a side note, I have been puttering away in my Craft Room doing some re-organizing. My room is much smaller than the one in our old house, so I had to store some of my supplies (stamps!) out in the garage where I could get to them. Olivia's diagnosis came on our moving day so as you can imagine we were not thinking very clearly while directing the movers.

I now have a chair lift so I can get to the basement and while poking around down there earlier this month I came across a whole shelf of my stamps! I didn't know I had stamps stored down there so I was pretty excited. Included were all of my South West themed stamps and my ground/grass images. Woot! I have now peeled all the SW ones off of their wood mounts (sniff), adhered them to clear DVD cases AND indexed them all. I just worked a little at a time and got it done. They are now stored right in my craft room and I'm excited to get reacquainted with them. Next up will be to do the ground/grass ones.

Supplies:
1012 - Snowman Twist Circle Pop-Up - Karen Burniston
Patterned paper - DCWV

Zig Clean Colour Markers
Just for you and inside words - Stampin' Up

Hello Friend Twist Panel Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

My card making process almost always starts with patterned paper, and from there I decide what stamps and or embellishments to use. For this card, I had a 5 x 12" piece of patterned paper leftover from a different project and I liked the banners & clouds on the top area. So I knew I wanted to make a Pop-Up card with it.

I also tend to finish the inside of my card first, then do the card front. This pretty patterned paper matched the card colours perfectly and I had a leftover butterfly sticker on the sheet. Done!

I chose Karen Burniston's new Twist Panel Pop-Up die set - it's very popular and you can see why. So much OOOOOH when the card is opened and all four panels spread and pop-up.

Below you can see the pretty patterned paper that inspired this card. I added some 'Wink of Stella glimmer to the banners themselves, and also die cut one using one of the little banner dies in the Twist Panel Pop-Up set.

The white scalloped rectangle is SO sweet - I just love it.

I added some sparkle to the Thinking of You below the Pop-Up panels to emphasize the point.

I love using up older products from my stash and this card helped with that - I finished off a sheet of 3-d stickers, used that leftover piece of patterned paper and also managed to use up the whole 6 x 6" sheet of roses paper so there are no scraps to think about storing. And I have a sweet Pop-Up card for a friend!

Supplies:
Patterned paper (roses) - Stampin' Up
Patterned paper - banner/clouds - American Crafts
Peach Astroparche
White card stock
Stickers - Stash
Stickles

I added the beautiful calligraphy die from Suzanne Cannon at ECD to the inside.

Here is another look at how the card looks when it's open.

This went to someone who was in need of  Happy Mail.

Ice Cream Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

When my Mom was growing up, every mid-July there was a parade in their town and afterwards her Dad would take her for ice cream. She made sure that she took my brother and I for ice cream in July and I did it for my kids too. Now I make her an ice cream themed card every July and we either go out for ice cream or bring some to her.

This is the front of my ice cream card this year:

I used Karen Burniston's new Cupcake Pop-Up die set for the inside, and decided to turn the cupcake icing into my ice cream. The Cup from the Cup Pop Stand (an older licensed KB die set) fit perfectly so I trimmed off the cup handle to make it into a bowl. The spoon (LOVE that spoon) comes with the Cup Pop Stand and it was the perfect addition.

Not only do all the new Karen Burniston in Cahoots with Riley LLC dies work seamlessly together, you can see how well they work with others in your collection too!

I used labels from the new Katherine Label Pop-Up with a punched banner on either side. A stamped Happy and hand lettered 'July' and the card was finished.

1008 Cupcake pop-Up (Icing and cherry) - Karen Burniston

Lotsa Hugs Pull Card

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a Circle Pull Card to share today using Karen Burniston's Spiral Circle Pull Card for the base. It's no secret I LOVE that die!

The notches hold the card in the closed position until the sides are pulled to reveal the inside. The flower is one of Krista Schneider's stamps (fussy cut) and coloured  with Copics & Twinkling H2O's.

The white circle is where we will write our message.

I filled the left side with Hugs die cuts - I haven't done that before but I like the look and will likely do it again.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - We R Memory Keepers
Spiral Circle Pull Card , Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Flower Power Clear Stamps - Elizabeth Craft Designs

Succulent Love Note

Good morning friends

I made this card back in the early Spring when we were in Arizona. I am an early riser, but don't like to take the dogs outside until after 8am because of barking. So I got in the habit of getting up and leaving the dogs snoozing with hubby while I played in the craft room until 8am. Then I'd go get the dogs their breakfast and get them outside. I really enjoyed those mornings of solitude, with Netflix on my little iPad, sun shining and birds singing. What a great way to start a morning!

I didn't have a plan for this one, but the patterned paper stack was out from a different project and I just started playing and layering.

LOVING these cactus and succulent dies from the Stamps of Life. They hit my Wish List the moment they were released to the club members, but I had to wait until near the end of the month when they were available to the rest of us.

I really like the soft colours in this paper stack. It's about 3 years old now and I still have lots left!

Supplies:
Patterned paper - We R Memory Keepers
Stitched circle frame dies - Lawn Fawn
Cactus/succulent dies - The Stamps of Life
Plant pots - MFT Stamps
Coral, white card stocks
Stitched Rectangle dies - Elizabeth Craft Designs
