Hello! It's time for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge, and she challenged her Design Team to create a project using "Black, White and a Pop Of ....". I chose PINK to be my "Pop Of" and made a top fold Mini Slimline with the Cupcake Pop Up. I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube since it's always more fun to see these cards 'in action'.
I started my card with a 3.5 x 12" piece of white card stock, scoring it in the centre at 6" which gave me the top fold Slimline card of 3.5 x 6". I added a diagonal strip of black and white patterned paper and a spray of blooms from the Flower Pot Pop Up. The pink card stock was all scraps from my stash and I added white glittered card stock as well. The pink seam binding was added after the card was complete, as I generally work on the insides of my Pop Up cards first then finish with the front.
The black card stock was all given a spritz with my shimmer spray so it has a lovely sparkle!
Inside, I used the Cupcake Pop Up! It BARELY fit into the 3.5" card width but I took my time lining up the die's alignment nubs with the inside score line and I was careful when adhering the inner card to the outer card so as not to damage those narrow strips on either side of the pop up base. I admit to holding my breath a couple of times, ha ha - but it worked and I was tickled!
Inside I added a couple more of the black and white patterned paper strips and then some flowers & vines from the Flower Pot Pop Up. I was able to use up several scraps of pink card stocks for the flowers! The little bow is intended to go across the cupcake liner, but I chose to add it to the upper right corner.
The cupcake icing was cut from white glitter card stock and the black cupcake liner was spritzed with shimmer spray.
The Thinking of You was die cut twice, once from pink card stock and once from black. Then the pink one was layered over the black, offsetting for a bit of a shadow.
As shown in my video, I used patterned paper and the Envelope Punch Board to create a coordinating envelope.
I hope you will check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with for their 'Pop Of ...' - their blogs are linked on the right. Karen Burniston will have her project on her blog tomorrow (Wednesday).

Hello! Today's card is a sympathy card made for friends. I wanted it to be extra special, and I chose Karen Burniston's Flower Pot Pop Up and scraps of card stock in various yellows and grey. I have a walk through on YouTube video:
The card base and envelope is from Stampin' Up and I added flowers/vine and a 'Thinking of You' to the outside but kept everything quite flat so the card opens up all the way for display.
I used one of the square vellum doily's as a stencil to add a little colour to the inside of the card. All of the other white card stock is actually a pearlized card. The With Sympathy dies are also by Karen Burniston.
I have had these butterfly stickers in my stash for a long time and added one to the card as well.
Gnomes are all the rage these days, and I couldn't resist this cute set from Riley & Company. Here I used them in combination with Karen Burniston's Flower Pot Pop Up die set for a cheery Slimline card. First I created the 'scene' panel by blending dye inks onto a white panel with the Taylored Expressions Blending Brushes. The masks were created from white copy paper, either torn (for the ground & grass) or cut (for the clouds).
There are three Gnomes in the set, and I used all three of them on the card front. The pots were cut from kraft card stock, then dipped and dragged through puddles of Distress Oxide inks.
Finally, here is a peek at the inside, with another blended 'scene' and pot with a peeking Gnome.
If you are interested, here is a photo of the inside panel, the hand made paper masks and the blending brushes. I used Catherine Pooler inks for most of the blending - I love those inks!

I have a special card today, that I made for Thanksgiving. I've had this sparkly & foiled patterned paper for several years yet never seem to make a dent in it. For this card, I fussy cut several of the decorative borders and labels from coordinating papers in the stack.
Below you can see the lovely foiled bits, and the sparkle in some of the burlap stripes. I added a strip of gold foil card stock as well. The' Thanks' is from Karen Burniston's Word Set 1 - Greetings, and I paired it with a handwritten 'give' for the greeting on the card front.
Inside is the Flower Pot Pop-Up filled with autumn coloured flowers and vines. Isn't it amazing that this folds up completely flat for mailing?
While it's hard to see in the photo, the burgundy labels are die cut from a heavy burgundy printed card stock with embossed flowers on it. They catch the light when the card is turned - so pretty. The flowers and vine's were spattered with some Colorburst's after die cutting to add a bit of variance to each one. Then I could shape them a little while they were damp and left them to dry.
It's no wonder the Flower Pot Pop-Up is such a popular die!
Good morning friends It's Saturday and a new month - so we have a new challenge and a new hostess at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. Maryann Einam will be our hostess with Kristine Reynolds joining us as our Guest Designer all month. You can see Kristine's blog HERE. Here is Maryann's challenge "According to the Days of the year calendar
today is Hop a Park day - using stamps or dies or both create a
scene or something that you may see in a park".
Since the challenge falls on Canada Day, I had to make a Canada Day card! This is our 150th Birthday, and there will be picnics, BBQ's, parties and celebrations in parks all over the country today. For the 'Canadian Flag' on the card front, I added a stitched Maple Leaf cut from red glitter card stock. I kept it simple, as all the fun is on the inside!
Here is the card opening ...
... and fully open. I used Karen Burniston's new Flower Pot Pop-Up die set, filling it with red and white Maple Leaves of various sizes, sparkly fish tail banners and gold foil flourishes.
Both of these stamps I've had for a couple of years - I found them in one of the bins at Michaels and knew I'd get good use out of them.
Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C392.
