C4C496 Mermaid Birthday Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. This month our hostess is Frances Byrne.  Vicki Garrett is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Vicki's blog HERE.

Here is Frances; challenge for the week:
Apparently today is Sandcastle Day, so let's include sandcastles on our card this week ... if you don't have sandcastles, sand or anything beach related will do.

I have actually decided to take a break from doing the Crazy4Challenges cards this month. While I look forward to my paper crafts and this hobby keeps me sane during times of high stress - having to come up with something for a specific theme was proving too much for my brain lately. I just need to go into my craft room and create what I feel like creating, which is what I did for my card today. Then I realized it fit the challenge, so here I am.

I coloured this mermaid during the 30 day colouring challenge (day 26) on Instragram. For that day I coloured two tails only and this full mermaid. You can see the two cards I made with the tails HERE.

I added a little wink of stella to the tail and gold gel pen on her hair. The sequins are also really shiny!

Here is a peek at the inside:

Into my stash with this one.

C4C494 Masculine Pop Up Birthday Card with Cacti

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. This month our hostess is Karen Ostergard! Donna K is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Donna's blog HERE.

This is Karen's challenge for the week:  Today is my son's birthday - today's challenge is to inspire us with a masculine birthday card.

I made our nephew a birthday card, and since they live in Arizona I pulled out my SW themed paper stack that a friend knew I'd love and bought for me.

The front has Karen Burniston's new 'HOWDY', and one of the cut-aparts from the paper stack.

Inside I used the new Train Pivot Panel, turned vertically. This gives you a dynamic, generic pop-up with lots of platforms to decorate!

I used stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions that I had picked up earlier this year. In fact, since I was using a template and my MISTI for the stamping, I stamped & die cut a small stack of the cacti to use on other projects!

Love these little banner dies ...

I also have a short YouTube video so you can see this card in action!

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C493.

C4C493 Funny Coffee Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. This month our hostess is Karen Ostergard! Donna K is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Donna's blog HERE.   Karen has a fun sketch for us this week:

I used this adorable Riley the Moose image and made a quick and easy card for my stash. The stamp was one that I coloured for the 30 Day Colouring Challenge I took part in on Instagram (Day 23) and I used a combination of Chameleon Color Tones and Color Tops as well as some coloured pencils. The Sentiment stamps are both Funny Bones stamps, also from Riley and Company but I believe the inside one is retired. Which is too bad - I quite like that one and have used it a number of times over the years.

This sketch is perfect for using up some little bits and pieces, which I was able to do here.

I think this will be fun to send to a coffee-loving friend as some Happy Mail.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C493.

C4C492 Holiday Spirits Triple Flip Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. This month our hostess is Karen Ostergard! Donna K is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Donna's blog HERE.   This is Karen's challenge for the week:

Christmas in July. Create a Christmas / holiday themed card.

Note, this is my first post today. If you are looking for my Design Team Card for Lynda Kanase, scroll down as it will be available a little later this morning.

I used several new items from Karen Burniston's new release - the Triple Flip and the Happy Hour Charms. I pulled out this patterned paper stack to make my card, and saw this border image on one of the sheets. It was too perfect not to use so then I was off and running.

While it's hard to see in the photos, I die cut each of the cocktail glasses from a peachy foil card stock and I love how they catch the light. The drink portion of the dies were cut from white glitter paper for some holiday sparkle, and the tiny holly and poinsettias were fussy cut from a different paper in the stack.

When you pull on the tab, the three panels flip to the left and reveal the message "Naughty is the new Nice". Ahaha - so fun. I snipped the words from one of the journal cards in the paper stack to make them work with the Triple Flip die set.

Inside I added a matted journal card and a circle with a sticker greeting which is where we will sign our names.

I will also include a short YouTube video so you can see the card in action!

C4C491 Rooster Birthday Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. This month our hostess is Karen Ostergard! Donna K is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Donna's blog HERE.   This is Karen's challenge for the week:

Today is National Fried Chicken Day in the U.S. For today's challenge, create a card with a bird on it.

I was a little torn as to what to use for my card today. Karen Burniston's new release has the Barn Pop-Stand and there is a chicken in the new release as well. But I settled on using this lovely Rooster image from Stampin' Up. I love this set and haven't played with it nearly enough. It is no longer available, but that doesn't stop me from using it!

I coloured the rooster with Chameleon Color Tone markers, and white embossed the greeting onto a fishtail banner. I cut a second banner from teal, cut it in half and added it to the back of the kraft one making sure the teal showed on each end.

Inside I used one of the new Farm Edges (the chicken wire), the tall grass from the same set as the rooster and a stamped greeting.

I actually made a pair of these cards and will be donating them to the nursing home my Mom was in before she passed.

This will also be for Day 22 of a 30 Day Colouring Challenge I'm participating in on Instagram. You can find all the details for the challenge HERE if you are interested.

C4C490 Trifold Birthday Card For A Friend

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. This month our hostess is Rebecca Ednie! Kelly Booth is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Kelly's blog HERE.   This is Rebecca's challenge for the week:

Fancy fold cards are totally awesome! This week let’s try a tri-fold card. There are several different types. But they all have at least 2 folds and at least 3 panels.

A few months ago Jennifer McGuire posted a video on 'Window Surprise Cards', which I will link at a the end of my post. While I did my card differently than she shows I liked the way she assembled her tri-fold card so that was my jumping off point.

This card, with the three panels, also works for the Fun Friday Challenge #117, which is to "use three of something".  You can find all the details for the challenge HERE.

I had these 5-1/2" patterned square cards in my stash, so I trimmed two of them down to be 5 x 5-1/2" which will fit in a 5 x 7" envelope. I assembled the two cards as shown in the video, and cut a wavy window from the front of the top flap using one of the Stitched Wavy Circle dies by Your Next Stamp.

The Birthday Wishes & the Washi Tape die are also from Your Next Stamp and I tucked a couple of puffy leaf stickers around the popped up sentiment.

When you open the card you see the second panel, which has a larger window cut from it using the same YNS  Stitched Wavy Circle die set.

Finally, here is the card fully open. I added a second panel inside the right flap to cover an oops, then managed to get a smudge on both the centre and the left panels. So I pulled out a stencil to mask those as best as I could. It was just one of those days, but the card turned out really cute despite the mistakes.

The puffy stickers were adhered to a die cut stitched circle with a hill and clouds sponged onto it, and then I added another Washi Tape sentiment and die cut. The greeting is revealed when you open that second flap, which I thought was fun.

I enjoyed making this trifold card a lot, and look forward to making more!

I made a Sympathy Card for my stash using these lovely papers by Kaisercraft.

I used a gold gel pen to add tri dots to the patterned paper and also to the tips of the layered succulent.  The 12 x 12" patterned paper sheet has a bunch of succulents on it, that are designed to be cut apart and layered paper tole style. I added each of the three layers with foam tape as I love dimension on my cards.

C4C488 Sea Themed Pop-Up Sketch Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. This month our hostess is Rebecca Ednie! Kelly Booth is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Kelly's blog HERE.   Since it's the third Saturday of the month, Rebecca has a sketch for us this week:

I used the sketch for the front of my card using patterned paper and cut apart/journal cards that were included the same stack. I die cut my scalloped panel using a border die from Prickley Pear stamps. The wheel and seahorse were fussy cut from other journal cards in the stack and I wrapped some twine across the top edge of my panel as per the sketch.

As the card is opening, you see that it's a Pop-Up card!

Karen Burniston's Rockin' Rectangle die set was used and I embellished the inside with more fussy cut elements and journal cards.

Below is a look at the card fully open ...

There is a lot of gold foil on this card - so pretty.

I used Chameleon Fineliner pens to write the message - see how the colour changes and blends through the message?

C4C486 Father's Day Flip-It Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. It's also a new month so we have a new hostess - Rebecca Ednie! Kelly Booth is joining us as our Guest Designer and you can find Kelly's blog HERE.   This is Rebecca's challenge for us this week:

Summer’s here and hopefully we can all get outdoors and into nature. So this week let’s use wood grain on your project. Images, embossing, even real wood paper or veneer shapes.

I had a leftover piece of this wonderful woodgrain patterned paper and there was enough of it to cut the layering panels for a Flip-It card so that is what I went with today.

This little fox from Your Next Stamp is just soooo cute! I added a stamped and fussy cut stump and also a chick from a different YNS stamp set. Those chicks just crack me up. Both were coloured with Chameleon Color Tone and Color Top markers.

Inside I added a stamped axe from the same stamp set as the stump (by Neat and Tangled) and wrote Happy Father's Day above it. The bullrushes were just fun to add on either side, and I added a word bubble that you can see when the card is closed.

I still have a small piece of this patterned paper leftover, so I want to use it up soon on a masculine birthday card for my Mom's nursing home. I love to use things up!

C4C485 Wine Themed Pop-Up Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges BlogNicky Foden is joining us as our Guest Designer this month - you can find Nicky's blog here:  My Messy Craftroom. Nicky will actually be joining us each week now, as part of our Design Team! And I have to mention that she is not only a fellow Canadian - but lives here in Alberta as I do.

Maryann Einam is our hostess for May and this is Maryann's challenge:

According to the days of the year calendar it is wine day, create a card with this in mind.

I used several dies by Karen Burniston for my wine themed card today, and will be saving this for a friend who enjoys a nice wine. Her birthday is coming up!

The Wine Charms make sweet embellishments simply by snipping off the hanging hole. I used both glass shapes on the front.

The Circle Charm Pop-Up is a fun die set to use. It's hard to see in the photo, but the centre circle is open and there is a bunch of grapes hanging in the centre by linen thread. I used both wine bottle shapes as well, and added colour and gold marker to the labels.

Below is a look at the folding mechanism with the Circle Charm Pop-Up. The image that shows on the card front pivots to the inside when the card is opened.

Finally, for those that like to pin card fronts and insides at the same time - here you go!
