Woodsy Balloon Birthday Cards

Hello crafty friends ...

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and today I'm sharing a dozen birthday cards I made to donate to my Mom's old nursing home. I had one sheet of this cool balloon/woodgrain patterned paper and thought a One Sheet Wonder template would be a great way to use it.

I will add three a month to my donation bags, as I like the residents to feel special and don't usually add more than two or three of a single design each month. Once I had the cards assembled and it was time for the greeting & decorating, I kept it fairly simple and chose four different greetings for the card fronts.

These first three have a YNS greeting that was cut with a fishtail banner and popped up with foam tape. I also chose three embossing folders for the background layers, depending on how much of the background would show. I inked many of the embossed backgrounds with Distress Oxide inks.

The second group has this fun Happy Birthday die by Penny Black. It had been on my Wish List for over a year, and I did finally purchase it back in November. The extra balloons are a punch by Stampin' Up.

This next trio got the YAY with shadow die cut and a couple of punched balloons.

Finally, the last three cards got a greeting from the Simple Strips Birthday stamp & die.

Once I had these cards finished  I decided to order one more sheet to have on hand. What a great patterned paper for masculine cards! Plus, I love balloons, ha ha.

Ten Fun 'One Sheet Wonder' Birthday Cards

Hello my crafty friends

I enjoyed my first One Sheet Wonder (OSW) cards last month so much I couldn't wait to make another set. I used the same template and some older paper & embellishments from my stash to make these cards which I will be donating to my Mom's old nursing home. I like that they are all different enough to be included in the same month! The template I used is linked at the end of my post.

Because I've had the paper stack for several years there were lots of bits and pieces in it.  I was able to use up most of those as well, adding another partial sheet to the OSW layouts on a couple of the cards. Now there are only TWO full 12 x 12" sheets left and a few scraps!. I will wait a few months to use the last of the paper up for my nursing home donation cards and then I will have used up the entire paper pack.

Below you can see all ten cards grouped together.

These four each have a pinwheel embellishment but are different enough that I won't worry about two residents getting an identical card that month.

The large stitched banner with the wavy cut out was one of the scraps in the package, obviously not needed for an earlier project. I backed the opening with some of the yellow patterned paper and it was ready for my card!

Who doesn't love an ice cream cone on a birthday card?

The final three cards use a few more printed embellishments and I added Nuvo Drops to all of the cards when I was done assembling.

There are a couple of residents on the younger side, so I thought this card might work well for them. I like to think the recreation staff enjoys choosing what card each resident will receive each month.

Each of the cards has a stamped white panel inside, and I used my MISTI for perfect placement on each one.

Seongsook's template calls for double sided paper, which is always fun. You can find her template HERE.

My First 'One Sheet Wonder' Birthday Cards

Hello my crafty friends

I really enjoy working assembly line style and creating multiple cards. I always have! I have also always wanted to try a 'One Sheet Wonder' template. Originally, a One Sheet Wonder was a sheet of card stock (often letter sized) that you stamped all over with the images of your choice then cut into sections to decorate multiple cards. With the arrival of patterned papers and the 12 x 12" size, OSW's became a way to make multiple cards from a single sheet of patterned paper. Especially since there are such gorgeous prints these days!

I chose a template by Seongsook Duncan (link in the supply list) because I liked that it required a double sided patterned paper. Since this was the first time working with a OSW, I chose not to do any matting but I can see how much that would add to the cards so the next ones (and there WILL be more) I will add the matting layers.

I got eight cards from the single sheet of double sided patterned paper and then had lots of fun choosing what elements to add to keep the cards different enough to all be included in the same bag for my Mom's old nursing home. I like the residents to feel special when they receive their cards, so rarely include more than two of a single design. These ones are bright and cheery even without the matting and I am very happy with how they turned out.

These two have a die cut balloon with a bakers twine bow, and while the balloon on both is the same, the layouts are different.

These ones have a die cut party hat - in different colours and each on a different layout.

I used a shooting star die that is intended for shaker cards, but it works great for embellishments too! These two are the only ones that are very similar in design.

The final two, with punched balloons on one and a fun dog sticker on the other.

The inside of all eight cards was done the same, using the MISTI for perfect placement and no 'oopses' on any of the cards. Each was stamped two times with the blue ink for a nice bold image.

I have to say how much I liked working with this template! And of course my head started reeling with all the other cards I can make with the gigantic stack of patterned papers I have here!
