NOEL Platform Pop Up Card

Here is the 12th and final edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up Cards".  I feel like I've sure got good use out of this die set now, and hopefully inspired those of you who also have the set.

Today's card uses some older ephemera to decorate the platforms and there is a spot on the back where we will sign our name. I'll be including a Christmas letter with the card, so I don't need a lot of room for a personal greeting.

I love how flat the card folds down for mailing.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Snow Lady Platform Pop Up

Today I'm sharing the November edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up" Cards and I made this one as a Christmas card. The large Snow lady was fussy cut from a sheet of 12 x 12" patterned paper - I just love this paper pad and have had it for a number of years. All of the papers I used are from the same pad & I added a punched tree and snowflake to the card front.

The reverse side has both die cut and punched snowflakes as well as the sentiment stamped on a die cut oval. I cut one more of the ground pieces that come with the Platform Pop Up and added it to the back of the snow lady which sandwiched her between the two layers for stability. then I added another punched tree.

We will sign our name on the white stitched label on the back of the platform base. This card folds down completely flat for mailing and will mail in a standard 5 x 7" envelope.

Halloween Platform Pop Up Card

Here is the October edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up Cards". I created the Platform Pop Up base using the fun patterned paper (Doodlebug Designs) then adhered the Add On cut from black card stock. I used the included layering dies and a different patterned paper to decorate the Add On backing piece as well as a few black punched clouds.

The pumpkin is also from Lawn Fawn - I have had it for a couple of years and I like that the face is separate so it doesn't have to be a Jack O Lantern if I want just a pumpkin. 😊  The stickers on the center front, as well as the ephemera are also from Doodlebug.

I added a small signing block to the back as well as one of the 2" square cut-aparts that were on one of the sheets in the Doodlebug package.

Below you can see how flat the card folds down for mailing!

Platform Pop Up with Goats

This card is the September edition of my monthly series "Platform Pop Up" Cards and was the birthday card I made for our eldest daughter. The goats were coloured to mimic her two goats - Clover & Thistle. Our Grandson was staying here when I was making the card and he was so excited about those goat stamps, and that they could be coloured to look like their goats. 🥰.

The barn die is from Your Next Stamp and the size was perfect to add to the Platform Pop Up. I also added a punched cloud on the backing piece. I wasn't sure I would use that Add On, and resisted it for a long time. But I did snag it when there was a sale and I do like using it - but I especially like that I can make the Platform Pop Up without it if I choose.

Below is the back of the card and where we signed our names. I added a black Peel Off sticker for the sentiment. The little banner was die cut from white and coloured with markers before attaching to the card and I liked the pop of colour they provided.

I'm always happy with how flat these cards fold down for mailing - but we hand delivered this one.

Happy Birthday Platform Pop Up Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog. This card is the 8th edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up Cards". I made it for our son's partner (close enough to a Daughter In Law and that is how we think of her ❤️). I knew I wanted to use bright colours and add a die cut greeting on a piece of acetate. But what to add to the front and centre sections???

Well I went through my embellishment binder, which is a large zippered binder filled with baseball card holders and page protectors. I had organized it last year (or the year before?) with odds and ends elements I had cut for cards and didn't use. My Pinkfresh Studio washi tape die cuts are in there too, as well as things I cut multiples of or fussy cut. It's so easy to just flip through the pages to see at a glance what I have. Well - I had a couple of these Snowball the Sheep done and in one of the clear pockets, as well as the fence in another. Ta Da!

Afterwards I dug out the bin where I have all the other Pop it Ups Characters by Karen Burniston when she was designing for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I always loved the size of those characters, and now they are on magnetic sheets and much easier for me to get to. The Party Hat is from one of the character Props, but I don't remember what it's called. I thought that Snowball should be wearing a party hat, since this IS a birthday card!

I also added some self adhesive gems onto the acetate which is fun as they look like they are floating.

This card folds down flat for mailing, but I will likely be hand delivering it to her with her Birthday Gift. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom since she will see it when she takes the card out of the envelope. We can sign it there as well. Usually I add a sentiment on the back, but I am liking this idea and will do it again.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Mermaid Platform Pop Up

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and I'm sharing the 7th edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up Cards". Considering I sat down thinking I would use the cloud add-on for the Platform Pop Up and possibly a sun die ... I went a little off the rails. But I made it for a friend for Happy Mail, and I'm sure she will enjoy it.

This patterned paper package has been hanging around my craft room for a couple of years, but if it is still available I will link it below for you. The fish stickers had words printed on them so I covered up the letters with the shell stickers. Once they were attached to the card, I brushed baby powder onto the back side to remove any sticky left on the stickers. For some sparkle & shine I added the mirrored hearts.

The mermaid was attached to the top of an acetate strip, so I could raise her up above the fish a little instead of attaching her directly to the stitched 'hills' that come with the die.

I have found that this scalloped rectangle from a set by Pink and Main fit perfectly on the back section and gives me room for a personal message. This card folds down nice and flat for mailing and this one fits in a standard 5 x 7" envelope.

Ice Cream Cone Platform Pop Up Card

Not only is it Fun Fold Friday, this is the 6th edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up Cards". I added the stamped & die cut 'COOL' to the front, and the ice cream cones are dies by Simon Says Stamp.  The pink puffy pieces are from a SU milkshake set. I stamped the sentiment on a scalloped rectangle and added it to the back with room for a personal message.

Every July I send my kids & brother an ice cream themed card to honour my Mom. When she was a little girl, her Dad (my Grampa) would take her for an ice cream soda after a July parade in their town. She continued the tradition with my brother and I, even though we didn't go to a parade. On a certain day in July we would all go for ice cream. I continued the tradition with our kids, and now our grandkids too.

When my Dad passed away, I made sure to take Mom for her ice cream or we would deliver it to her on that day. Often our family can't all be together on that day but we all make sure we have ice cream and say CHEERS to my Mom. I have been sending them an ice cream themed card in July for many years as well, and this will be one of the ones I send out this year.

I love how this card folds flat for mailing in a 5 x 7" envelope.

Underwater Platform Pop Up Card

Today is Fun Fold Friday on my blog & I'm sharing the 5th edition to my monthly series 'Platform Pop Up' cards. Back in early March I finally broke down and purchased the Add On for the Platform Pop Up. This was my first play with it and I think it's going to be fun!

As usual, my card started with the patterned paper which is Slimline sized and nice and heavy weight. Then I pulled out Karen Burniston's Sea Animals to decorate the platform tabs. Building as I went, I added a couple of sand dollars then some seaweed and iridescent bubble gems.

I stamped a sentiment on the back from an older stamp set by Stampendous.

This card folds down flat and will mail in a 5 x 7" envelope!

'Clouds & Butterflies" Platform Pop up

I know there are lots of papercrafters who love, say florals. Whenever a company has a new floral release, they are happy to add them to their collection. Me? Apparently its sky related things. Clouds, sun, rainbows, sunbursts (stencils and dies) ... that is my weakness. Ha. So when Lawn Fawn's release included cloud inserts for the Platform Pop Up I didn't hesitate to hit 'add to cart'. I didn't purchase their cloudy wrap around for the base, but it IS on my Wish List. 😊

Also included in that release was a cloud hot foil plate and I practically jumped for joy. Since I couldn't wait to play with the cloud insert I paired it with butterflies from Pinkfresh Studios. Since I know I also love butterflies - this card just makes me happy!

This is the 4th edition to my series using the Platform Pop Up and I'll be back next month with another one. By the end of the year I hope to have made twelve different cards with this die set.

The card folds flat for mailing, and this one fits in a 5 x 7" envelope. I was mindful of how high I placed that top butterfly so it would fit inside the envelope.

Platform Pop Up Card for a St. Patrick's Day Birthday

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and I'm sharing the third edition to my series "Platform Pop Up". Every year I make my friend Kelly a St. Patrick's Day birthday card so this one went to her.

I used a Slimline Paper pad by Whimsy Stamps and elements from Doodlebug for the card. I love the happy colours and touches of gold foiling on the elements.

Adding that stitched rectangle to the back helps stabilize the elements as well as giving me a place to write a personal message.

The whole thing folded flat to pop into a envelope for mailing.

Snowman Platform Pop Up

Wow - can't believe we are already in round two for the monthly series here on my blog. Today I'm sharing my second card for the Series: Platform Pop Up. I know I said I was finished using that Magic of Winter collection, but as I was gathering it up to put away, I realized how cute some of the ephemera pieces would be on the Platform Pop Up ... and this is what I came up with.

I added one of the border stickers that was included in the 12 x 12" paper package, and some coordinating enamel dots.

I love how flat this card folds down to fit in an envelope!

The paper package & ephemera has been put away now though, and I won't be getting it out again until for a few months. 😉

I have been asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Card Tally for 2023

Platform Pop Up for the New Year

I have decided to change things up on my blog this year, and run several different monthly series. Today is my first share in my "Platform Pop Up" Series. I have more information on my plans later in the post. Since it's Friday, this card also works for Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!

The more I play with this die set, the more I enjoy it. I especially like how easily it goes together, and that you can really keep the bulk down while still having a dynamic pop up that fits in an envelope for mailing.

This patterned paper was from Stampin' Up and has a cool finish on it. It's not actually sparkly, but when it catches the light it does have a shine. The Happy New Year is one I have had for several years, originally it was from the Stamps of Life.

... one more look ...

Why choose to do several different monthly series? I spent some time over the holidays thinking about my blog, what I create and what I like and don't like about how I've been doing things. I'm mostly happy about everything, but I don't like having great supplies that don't get enough use! Our supplies - dies especially - are an investment, and I have certain criteria for most of my die purchases.

First, I want dies that are versatile & timeless. I want to be able to use them for multiple occasions and for many years. I don't really care about trends, in fact I'm usually behind on purchases that others got as soon as they were released. I've never been one to follow companies, anxiously awaiting their newest release and I don't think I've ever hit the "BUY ALL" button with a new release as lots of crafters do.

Whatever supplies I have purchased fit that criteria. The problem is, that I'm not getting to actually USE them as much as I thought I would when I purchased them. Health, Family and Design Team work will always come first, but when I really thought about it - there should also be enough time to use the dies that I loved enough to buy. All those fun, interactive dies that I have notebooks of ideas for! It doesn't matter that many have been retired or discontinued - I spent good money on them so I could use them over the years and now I am going to do just that.

I plan on running a series for the Platform Pop Up, the Magic Iris (both by Lawn Fawn), Shaped Cards, 12 Months of Christmas, Throwback Fun Fold Dies, New Fun Folds etc. I know that travel and life might throw a wrench into a post here or there, but hopefully at the end of 2023 I will have shared 12 different cards in each of those Series. I will be getting good use out of my dies, be able to share ideas (which I love to do), and still have time to do my Design Team work.

While I won't have set days for when I will be publishing a new post for any of the Series, I will create labels on the right side of my blog to make it easy for searching. I am really excited about this, and I am already feeling more creative and inspired.

I'll be back again next month with another platform pop up creation!

I am including a running tally on how many cards I make this year, not counting the ones I don't share here on my blog.  I donate 25 Birthday Cards each month to my Mom's old nursing home and don't often take photos or post the majority of those. A couple of times recently, I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since a lot of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

2023 Tally: 18 cards

Patterned paper - Metallic & Shimmer, 6" - Stampin' Up
White cardstock
Stitched Stars - the Stamps of Life

Greenhouse Platform Pop Up Card

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog. Today I'm sharing another Platform Pop Up card - this one I made for friends who are avid gardeners. They have been renovating a new-to-them house and, while still under construction, it's far enough along for them to have moved into their basement. I have all the details in a YouTube video:

I used Lawn Fawn's Platform Pop Up, and a couple of retired stamp & die sets for this card.  I made the card awhile ago but couldn't post it until I had given it to them so that is why the plant supplies are retired ... they were not when I made the card. Ha.
