Doggie Birthday Wishes

I had a couple of patterned paper scraps sitting on my stamping desk so combined them to make a panel for the front of a birthday card. When I had rooted through my stickers, I found a sheet of dog face stickers as well as these Kraft labels, so combined one of each as the focal point on my card front.

Finally, I added a stamped & matted sentiment and my simple card front was done.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Rainbow Dog Birthday Card

I know I've made a lot of cards using these rainbow dog note cards but I saved this poodle one for my friends birthday card. Obviously, she loves poodles!  If you would like to learn more about these rainbow dog note cards, I have a YouTube video HERE

The note card was cut down and the front panel matted with black. Then it was added to a Waffle Flower panel and I popped up a glimmer foiled Happy Birthday with foam tape. The dogs nose got a coating of glossy shimmer, so it's raised and shiny.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Slimline 'New Dog' Card

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and today I'm sharing the card I made for friends who welcomed a new dog into their family.

It was fun to pull out this bone shaped slimline die set (Whimsy Stamps) for their card. Slimline cards are hard to photograph in a normal square shape for social media, so in the photo below I inserted a pic of the inside, where we wrote our personal message.

Holiday Dog Card

I guess this will be my last holiday card share for the year and it's the card I made for our veterinarian. We love her, and her clinic staff. I had also ordered them a Christmas gift back in November, which ended up shipping the day before Canada Post went on strike. So the package is sitting somewhere and hopefully it will turn up one day.

Gifts for our daughters were in the same package, so I'm not impressed. Also not impressed that I didn't get to mail my Christmas cards. The strike is 'over' (postponed until the Spring) so I could actually mail then now. But with the backlog of mail in the system already, and potentially grumpy workers that were forced back to work - I am not taking a chance with my hand made cards getting lost or not delivered until the middle to end of January.

Anyhow, since this card would be hand delivered, I ended up making a 6" square card and was able to use up two 6x6" panels that were in this older paper pad. The stamped images are by Your Next Stamp.

Rainbow Chihuahua Pop-Up Birthday Card

I wanted to play with some bright & happy colours, so pulled out another one of those rainbow dog panels and made a pop-up birthday card for my stash.

If you would like to learn more about these rainbow dog note cards, I did a YouTube video HERE a few months ago. This panel was from one of the note cards, which I cut down & matted it with black cardstock. I added it to a card base after covering the front of the base with rainbow patterned paper. I wanted to add a little somethin' something so Nuvo Drops made the nose raised and shiny.

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Lorna Label Pop Up. This was a re-release of one of my favourite dies from when she was with a different company. Back then the die 'cut into' the inner card but now it's a 'glue in' which is much more versatile. Ironically, this is a top folding A2 card which is what worked best with the old die set.

I pulled out KB's Baking Borders and die cut the bases from a scrap of the rainbow paper and the tops from rainbow holographic cardstock. As I said in the original video, the note cards came with coordinating envelope seals which I usually save for the envelopes. For this card though, I added the seal to one of the decorator dies that comes with the Lorna Label die set so I could use it inside the card.

Since I'd trimmed the cupcake border to fit on the bump out, I had a small strip leftover. I trimmed away two of the cupcakes and added one to the sentiment panel and saved one to decorate the front. As usual, I finished off the inside of the card before going back to complete the front.

Dog Bone Shaped Sympathy Card

I decided to make a pet sympathy card to have on hand, so pulled out the Slimline Dog Bone die from Whimsy Stamps. I also made it into a shaped card! To do this I die cut the bone three times. Twice from white card stock and once from the rainbow slimline patterned paper. After doing the stamping on the rainbow piece and adding the die cut dog, I adhered it to one of the white bones. For the remaining white bone, I scored those top bumps about 1/4" down from the top. Adding adhesive ABOVE the score line I attached the two pieces together. Ta dah - a shaped top folding card!

Now if I'd been smart, I would have done the inside stamping before I adhered the back to the card front. Instead, I stamped on a fishtail banner and adhered it over a scrap of the rainbow paper inside.

Rainbow Dog Shaker Card

Today I'm sharing a birthday shaker card for my stash. I haven't made a square card in awhile, so that is what I went with today. This one is 4-1/4" square and will fit in an A2 envelope for mailing.

I started by cutting down one of those rainbow dog note cards to fit inside the die cut frame, then added some filler from my stash. (I have a YouTube video sharing about those note cards HERE.)

Speaking of dogs - here is a photo of Willow who celebrated her 4th birthday this week! She got some new toys and the birthday treat was wet dog food topped with whipped cream. 😂

Party Dog Pop Up Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!

I made this card for a dog-loving friend and I think she is going to get a kick out of it. I used one of the rainbow dog note cards that I have been having fun with - (I have a YouTube video sharing about those note cards HERE.)  For this card, the note card front was matted onto black card stock and I added a plaid washi tape strip down the left side. First the washi tape was applied to a strip of white card stock the length I wanted it and the ends tucked under. That way they don't peel or lift from the card base.

Just for some sparkle and fun, I also added a party hat and cupcake to the dog then the word celebrate (all dies by Karen Burniston) using both the same plaid washi tape and rainbow holographic card stock.

Inside I used the Raising Platform along with the Happy Birthday (and Happy Birthday Shadow) & balloons from the Big Birthday Charms. In my head I wanted to do something with strips of acetate on the arms, but it didn't work out when I was making the card so I will have to think on that some more. But I am happy with how the card turned out - it's so happy & cheerful!

Lots of dimension with this Raising Platform Pop Up die set 🥰.

The sentiment was stamped onto layered Crosshatch Circles - I was careful to check for catch points before I adhered everything down. The dots are from my all time favourite stamp - a peg stamp by Stamps by Judith.

Slimline Thinking Of You Card

Today I'm sharing a Slimline card I made to send to a friend who recently had surgery. The cute dogs came from the bottom of a 12 x 12" sheet of patterned paper - it seemed perfectly sized for a Slimline card! The sentiment  (using dies by Karen Burniston) was die cut from white card stock and inked with blending brushes.

I added some Nuvo Glaze to the flower centres and dog noses for a little shimmer & shine.

Below is a peek at the inside where you can see the rest of the die cut sentiment.

Mini Slimline Dog Sympathy Card

Sigh. Had to make our first pet sympathy card of 2024.  ðŸ˜¢

This one started with a white panel that I stencilled the bones & paw prints, then used blending brushes to add some subtle colour. I stamped the little dog on a circle, lightly inked around him in blue and added it behind a reverse scalloped circle. Nuvo Glaze on the eyes gave them a little shine. The sentiment was stamped and added across the card - such a true sentiment.

Birthday Card for Diego

Last week we went to a friends house to celebrate their dog's NINETEENTH birthday! Of course I had to bring Diego a card for his birthday 😊.

Once again I used one of those rainbow dog note cards, trimmed to fit on the front of an A2 sized card that was matted with patterned paper. I used the same paper and an alphabet die set (Karen Burniston) to spell out his name. After laying out out all the pieces, I decided to add a strip of confetti printed patterned paper behind the rainbow dog one and add layered hearts.

Rainbow Dog Birthday Card Duo

I'm back today with a pair of cards using those rainbow dog note cards I've been playing with lately.( I have a YouTube video sharing about those note cards HERE.)  For these two I cut the front from the back of the note cards then trimmed the fronts down to 3.75 x 5".

Those panels were popped up on some confetti printed note cards I've had for YEARS! I added stamped sentiments matted with rainbow holographic cardstock and those were also popped up with foam tape.

I added a little Nuvo Glaze to the dogs and then a stamped panel inside.  Apparently I didn't take a photo of the insides.

Initially I made these for my nursing home donations but I think I might end up keeping them for my stash. They just make me happy!

Rainbow Dog Card Trio

Last week I shared a pop up card using one of these rainbow dog note cards and I liked the teal & black matting so much I used them again for these three 5x7" cards. I am having so much fun with these note cards by cutting them down and adding stamping etc.

I have a YouTube video sharing more about these note cards HERE

This first card has a humorous sentiment on the front and on the inside. I added plaid washi tape for some colour on the inside too.

The other two cards have a more traditional verse inside...

German Shepherd Pop-Up Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!

Today I'm sharing my first play with the Raising Platform Pop Up die set (Karen Burniston) and I made a card for our son-in-law. They used to have two German Shepherds and I know he will love this card.  I started with one of the rainbow dog note cards - I have a YouTube video about those** HERE **- then pulled out the rainbow stripe Washi Tape. I love how bright and happy the card front is!

I have a walk through of this card on YouTube:

Inside I used the nice big HAPPY die (Riley & Company) cut from a rainbow striped paper to mount on the Raising Platform and it worked out perfectly.

Below is a picture of the sentiment/signing block. I couldn't resist adding one of the peeking dog stamps (Catherine Pooler) along the bottom edge.

As I said in the video, I will move the Raising Platform mechanism up a little bit for my next card so it stands above the card when it's open. But I do like it like this look too.

Three Rainbow Dog Birthday Cards

I couldn't help myself. I saw these rainbow dog note cards on Amazon when we were visiting Arizona and they practically leapt into my shopping cart! 😂  I thought the price point was decent for 20 cards & envelopes as well as the coordinating envelope seals. I have a YouTube video on my thought process, more ideas and how I made these 5 x 7" cards, which were my first play with the note cards.

As I said in the video, the cards are listed as 4 x 6" cards that come packaged in a box. Instead they are more like 3.75 x 5.75" and arrived in a cello bag - NOT a box. The cards are heavily plasticized on the front and they are nice and sturdy so none were damaged in shipment, thank goodness.

This card is for our (almost) daughter-in-law - it reminds me of their smiling Phoebe dog and I think she will get a kick out of it.

Here is a peek at the inside of the cards, which were all done the same.
