September 2024 Sheetload of Cards

Well this is exciting - not only is it time for a new Sheetload of Cards, this month it is based on one of my video's AND I am the Guest Designer!  I have a walkthrough of my cards on YouTube as well:  

The original video is still one of my most popular, which makes me happy. You can find it HERE if you are curious.  It makes three Mini Slimlines with three sheets of 6x6 patterned papers and NO leftover pieces! 

The September 2024 Sheetload yields twelve cards and uses three 12x12" sheets of patterned paper. Again, there are no leftover pieces. I did change up the images and greetings so I wouldn't have twelve identical cards, and while most of the birthday ones will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home - I think they are cute and will be keeping one or two for my stash. 

Again, I'm holding onto summer because I am NOT ready for cooler weather. So I made my cards with a Bee theme. Some will be sent out for Happy Mail and the rest are birthday cards. (All the supplies are listed below.)

I had fun making these up and have some ideas for using this Sheetload again without the fold flap, instead using the left strip and the center strip combined on the card front. 🤷‍♀️

Rainbow Birthday Accordion Card

Welcome to Fun fold Friday here on my blog! I'm really late posting today - I had a Tetanus shot yesterday, and the trouble with having an autoimmune disease (Rheumatoid Arthritis) is that vaccines set up a doozy of an immune response. Lots of pain meds and I'm finally able to sit with my laptop to get this posted. Whew. Today I'm sharing a fun card using dies -and stamps!!- by Karen Burniston! I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube:  

Apparently the Fancy Label Accordion is one of Karen B's most popular die sets, and her last release included both the Fancy Solid Frame dies and Tree Add-Ons. So fun! Below you can see the card closed and how it will look coming out of the envelope.

She also has a selection of stamps that go perfectly with her new release and I used the birthday set for this card. The front has "Make A Wish" and the back has a white label which is where we can sign our names. I was impressed at how well the stamps stamp, too!

I cut the Fancy Label Accordion four times, using the Tree Add-On's for the centre two panels. 

For a little something extra, I added the Happy Birthday on a separate strip - which I adhered to the left and right tree panels. I took my time placing it inside the card so it wouldn't stick out past the edge of the card when it's all closed up.

The card folds up surprisingly flat, and while it will likely need an extra stamp for thickness it won't have to go as a 'parcel'. I really had fun making this happy card and look forward to more playtime with these dies.

Basketball Coach Appreciation Card

 

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog!

When I asked our daughters how many teacher appreciation cards they would like me to make this year, our middle daughter asked if I could also make one for our grandson's basketball coach. I had completely forgotten about this stamp set from Stampin' Up that I have had for years, so it was fun to pull it out again. I added Nuvo Glaze to the basketball so it's raised and shiny. 

Now my mojo has taken a nosedive, and if that wasn't enough - my craft room has become a dumping ground and it's hard to even move in there let alone get creative. However, I really wanted to get this card made and this is what I came up with.

The element on the front was attached with an Action Wobble. I go in phases with these things - it can be a year before I use one, then I want to use them on lots of cards for awhile. 

I used an alpha die set to cut the letters for COACH, stamped 'thanks' above that then added some dots using my favourite dot stamp.

I had better get cracking on cardmaking, as I don't have anything made to share next week and usually I'm running at least three weeks ahead. Yikes!

Pop Up Easter Card

I thought I was finished sharing Easter Cards, but found these photos in the folder and I don't want to hold onto them until next year. So HERE I my final Easter Card of 2024!  😊 The front has patterned paper and a large ephemera piece the front. I kept it nice and simple because all the fun is on the inside!

I used the Lorna Label die set inside, which is an updated version of one that Karen Burniston had out years ago. I've talked about the differences between the versions in previous posts and I believe Karen addresses them in her assembly video. I am so happy that the Lorna Label Pop Up is back!

I added her Happy Easter & shadow and some butterflies from the Flutter Charms set. The bottom 'step' of the pop up is perfect for tying ribbon around! I also added (yet another) bunny border across the patterned paper seam - I love those bunnies.

A stamped sentiment on a scalloped signing block that was cut using KB's Short Crosshatch Rectangles.

Party Dog Pop Up Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog!

I made this card for a dog-loving friend and I think she is going to get a kick out of it. I used one of the rainbow dog note cards that I have been having fun with - (I have a YouTube video sharing about those note cards HERE.)  For this card, the note card front was matted onto black card stock and I added a plaid washi tape strip down the left side. First the washi tape was applied to a strip of white card stock the length I wanted it and the ends tucked under. That way they don't peel or lift from the card base.

Just for some sparkle and fun, I also added a party hat and cupcake to the dog then the word celebrate (all dies by Karen Burniston) using both the same plaid washi tape and rainbow holographic card stock. 

Inside I used the Raising Platform along with the Happy Birthday (and Happy Birthday Shadow) & balloons from the Big Birthday Charms. In my head I wanted to do something with strips of acetate on the arms, but it didn't work out when I was making the card so I will have to think on that some more. But I am happy with how the card turned out - it's so happy & cheerful!

The sentiment was stamped onto layered Crosshatch Circles - I was careful to check for catch points before I adhered everything down. The dots are from my all time favourite stamp - a peg stamp by Stamps by Judith.

5 x 7" card base and envelope

Hello Friend Flip Card

Happy April, friends!  Today I'm sharing a flip style card using older papers & ephemera and a die set by Sam Calcott (Mixed Up Crafts). The die set actually cuts two flip frames and fits perfectly on a 7 x 5" card, but this one is an A2 sized card and a single one works great on this size of card.

I likely wouldn't have thought to alter the die cut frame to be a single, but in Sam's assembly video (linked below) she shared that it would work and I have done it a couple of times now. I love that it makes this die set more versatile.

The chipboard elements are ones I have had for several years, having ordered them by mistake. Well I ordered them by choice but didn't read the description carefully enough - I don't find that chipboard elements make a card very mailable so I tend not to use them. For these ones, I peeled off several layers from the back and that made them much flatter - thus mailable. This card will mail for a single stamp!

You can have the frame pull to the left or to the right, for this card I have it pulling to the right. I added the PULL on a scalloped circle die and below is what you see when you pull that frame.

Spring Half Shutter Card

Happy Spring! SOOOO glad that 'officially' Winter is behind us. 😊 Of course, someone should let Mother Nature know since there is a big dump of snow in the forecast. Ug.

Today's card celebrates Spring and is a Half Shutter card using dies from Divinity Designs. I love that all the cutting and scoring is done for you, and the layering dies make adding the patterned paper layers so easy. The front decoration is a cut-apart from Echo Park, matted with Doodlebug patterned paper. I added Pops of Color on the raindrops and on the cloud scallops for some shine.

Above is what the card looks like when it comes out of the envelope, and below you can see the card opened up. It will stand nicely for display for a friend who needs a 'pick me up' .

I used Karen Burniston's Beach Elements for the umbrella and my Stampin' Up cloud punch as well.

February 2004 Sheetload of Cards

Today I'm sharing my cards made with this month's Sheetload of Cards. This one is similar to a Sheetload from last year, except this one is for an A2 sized card where the previous one was for a 5 x 7". I really enjoyed doing both of them!

As usual, I made mine into birthday cards that I can donate to my Mom's old nursing home. I kept right to the sketch this time around, and thought that this peeking dog stamp (Catherine Pooler) would work perfectly on the semi circle. I went over the dog noses with Nuvo Glaze so they are raised and shiny. 😊

Peeking Animal Birthday Cards

I have a lot of patterned paper. A LOT. And most of it is old but I'm making an effort to USE UP as much of it as I can. I'm also being realistic about the sheets that I hang onto because they came in the package or paper pad but I doubt I will ever use. I hope to cull a whole bunch of those 'ugly' papers in 2024. 

When looking for something else, I pulled out this 12 x 12" patterned paper package that I have used off and on for several years. There were lots of partial sheets and scraps so I decided to see if I could actually use it up. And I did! Today I'm sharing the first group of cards I made with the papers and I'll be donating these birthday cards to my Mom's old nursing home.

I haven't used these fun animal stamps for a very long time, and while I don't normally enjoy colouring I pulled out my alcohol markers and did some basic colouring on these ones. I think they make such cheerful cards! Below is the inside, with all the cards being done the same.

Halloween Tags for Kids

I like to give the Grandkids goodie bags for Halloween. Usually I use white gift bags, but this year I used heavy brown lunch bags instead. I had fun choosing the candy and party favour type gifts to add into the bags and then wanted bright and cheerful tags to add to the front of the bags.

I have had these 3d sticker embellishments in my stash for years. There was no packaging - I had them in a sandwich baggie - so I don't know where I got them or who makes them. But I have managed to use up most of them this year!

The tags were cut using the Celebrate Slimline Tag by Crafty Meraki and decorated with scraps of patterned paper and the stickers. I added some dots with my favourite dot stamp and wrote their names with a black pen.  I could have used pretty ribbon instead of the bakers twine at the top of the tags - but really, the kids are just going to tear into the bags so ... 😂

Three Interactive Thanksgiving Cards with Apples

I found these three card bases and the already-cut patterned paper &. mats in the "In Progress" bin. Who knows what happened that I didn't get to finish the cards, or why they've been in that bin for YEARS. But when I saw them in there I decided to finish them off. Since the apple print would match my new apple dies, I was off & running.

Since all the patterned paper was already trimmed and I couldn't remember my original plan I just added some narrow gold tape and gold peel off border stickers to the mix. It was fun to use my new Thanksgiving stamps as well.

This card has a simple box pop up inside for a little something extra.

Using the Stitched Apple Frames, I created a sweet shaker for another card.

I enjoyed the soft colours in this patterned paper and I'm happy to have the cards finished and ready to send!

The third card has a pop up inside using Karen Burniston's new Twist Flower Pop Up. I'm going to have so much fun with that one!

Dog & Balloon Mini Slimline Card

Hello my crafty friends! Today's share is a Mini Slimline card that was made with mostly older items that I found when doing a tidy up. I don't even remember where the digital images are from or how long ago I printed them. But the sheet was sitting on top of a couple of white birch tree embossed panels, so I decided to combine them.

I added some inking to the embossed background and trimmed it down to fit on the front of a Mini Slimline card (3.5 x 6"). Then I fussy cut the images and added a torn brown cardstock strip to 'ground' the dog.

Here is a peek at the inside ... the two brackets were part of the same digital print out so I popped them up on foam tape. No way I was going to save them for another day 😂. I stamped a sentiment inside, added a few dot stamps to the brown on t he front and another sentiment. This card is ready to be donated to my Mom's old nursing home!

Tractor & Woods Slimline Birthday Card

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog. Today I'm sharing the Slimline card I sent to our niece's hubby for his Birthday. His family has a farm, so I thought the tractor die from Elizabeth Craft Designs would be perfect. He is also an avid outdoorsman ... thus the forest background die.

I pretty much used scraps for the tractor, including the black mirror card stock. That stuff can be hard to find so I save all but the tiniest of pieces.
