New Years Magic Iris Card

Today I'm sharing the 12th and final edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards" and this one is a card for the New Year. I used some cloud themed patterned cardstock for the decorative panel,, the scalloped piece and the iris 'arms', and also gold heat embossed the bursts onto the front panel.

When you slide down the lever on the right side, the arms open to reveal the gold heat embossed sentiment. So fun! I have really enjoyed using this die set over the past year and even though I won't be continuing the monthly series I will continue to use this set.  The numbers and CELEBRATE dies are by Karen Burniston and I added gold sequins for additional sparkle.

I didn't really have a stamp that would work inside, so I ended up just handwriting the greeting. I also added gold Peel Off border stickers to the inside panel for a little more shine.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Shiny Snowflake Magic Iris Card

This super shiny card is the November edition to my monthly challenge "Magic Iris Cards". I used metallic cardstock for the base and Magic Iris part as well as rainbow holographic cardstock for the snowflake frame. 😎

When you pull the lever down the sentiment is revealed ...

Here is a peek at the inside. The Snowflake Add On comes with this cool stitched snowflake that impresses stitch lines rather than cut out a snowflake. I added it several times to a white scalloped panel then the Let It Snow which was also cut from the metallic snowflake cardstock.

Halloween Magic Iris Card

Today I'm sharing the October edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards". I had fun making this one, probably because I enjoy Doodlebug Designs so much. When you slide down the lever the shutters open to reveal those scared eyes.

I added a die cut BOO! & spiders and some ephemera to complete the card front.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

'That Paper' Magic Iris Card

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today I'm sharing the 9th edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards".  I chose 'That Paper', which is from Hobby Lobby in the US. We don't have Hobby Lobby in Canada, but a lovely lady sent me some as a Random Act of Kindness and I think of her every time I use the paper. I just love it!

When you pull down on the lever, the shutters open to reveal the stamped sentiment. I used the Scalloped Circle Add On, which is my favourite way to use the Magic Iris Die set. A hummingbird cut from gold mirrored cardstock and a gold matted, stamped sentiment and my card front was done.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Thanksgiving Magic Iris Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog! This is the 8th edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards" and I decided to make a Thanksgiving card. I am not trying to hurry Autumn along - Summer is my favourite season - but I am going to need some Thanksgiving cards. In the first photo above, the shutter is closed.

When you slide the arrowed tab down towards the bottom the card, the shutters open to reveal  a circle sticker that reads Happy Thanksgiving. I used a circle punch to line up where the notch is on the Magic Iris panel then finished the trimming with scissors. I find that makes it a little easier to get your fingers around that pull tab.

Inside I added a stamped panel that has washi tape on the top and bottom edge as well as a stamped greeting.

Magic Iris Pet Sympathy Card

Unfortunately I have had to make & send a couple of pet sympathy cards this month 😢 I find these especially hard to make, as it brings back the heartbreak of losing my sweet Cooper boy last April. I will never forget watching Jasper actively searching all over for his brother - for the whole two weeks we were still in Arizona, and then coming back home to Canada with only one dog. And watching Jasper search for him here too. Heartbreaking. I completely understand what my friends and family are going through and wanted them to know I'm thinking of them.

This card is also the 7th edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris" cards - I'm getting faster at making these with practice. When you pull the lever down the shutters open to reveal a sentiment.

Inside I added a scalloped rectangle with a stamped sentiment and a stamped paw print heart.

You may have noticed the affiliate thumbnails are no longer showing on my blog posts. That is because it costs money every month to share those links, and the past few months I havent made nearly enough sales to cover the cost. I would rather spend that money on craft supplies, than continue to pay out of pocket for a feature that viewers arent using.  I cancelled my subscription and will go back to listing my supplies in case anyone is curious about what I used.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Picture Perfect, Queen & Co
Dog Sympathy stamps - Scrapbook.com
Catherine Pooler Inks
Scallop rectangle dies - Pink & Main
Critter Condolences stamps- MFT Stamps
Pawprints dies - MFT Stamps

Canada Day Magic Iris Card

Today I'm sharing the 6th edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards". For this one, I created a card to celebrate Canada Day (July 1st). The patterned paper is from Catherine Pooler and it was perfect for this card! When you slide down the lever, the shutters open up to reveal a stamped sentiment.

Inside, I added a stitched red panel and the Slimline Celebrate die. I added a tiny stamped red maple leaf on the die cut, which makes me happy.

Birdhouse Magic Iris Card

Back in February I purchased this Birdhouse Add On for the Magic Iris die set, since it can also be used on it's own (and also makes a cute dog house!). For today's card, I used it with the Magic Iris though ... it was fun and I look forward to playing with it some more. This card is the 5th edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris cards" here on my blog. I had it in my head that I wanted to make a plaid birdhouse so that is what started the card!

When you slide the lever down in the direction of the arrow, the shutters open to reveal a stamped sentiment.

Looks like I neglected to take a photo of the card inside, which was decorated with a leftover strip of the patterned paper. I did not add a sentiment inside, so there is room to add a note inside when I go to send the card.

Super Shiny Magic Iris Birthday Card

I just love this card! It is SOOOOO shiny and the patterned cardstock fairly shouts celebration 😊.  This is the 4th edition to my monthly series Magic Iris and I made it into a birthday card for a friend. The purpose for my monthly series, is for me to USE some of these dies that I liked enough to purchase but haven't played enough to justify the cost. I'm not trying to come up a bunch of unique or clever ways to use the dies (although that might happen), I just want to use the dies to make cards for people I know will enjoy them. I know my friend will really like this one!

The package of printed cardstock came with three different patterns, in addition to the two I used on this card there is one with stars. Let me tell you, I save all but the tiniest scraps of this mirrored card stock. Ha. When you slide the lever down as the arrow shows, the shutters open to reveal the stamped sentiment.

I also added Karen Burniston's CELEBRATE near the bottom of the card cut from gold mirror cardstock.

I kept the inside fairly simple, cutting the Giant Happy Birthday from the same mirrored card stock as I cut the Magic Iris Add On from. I did mount it to a small white circle before attaching it to a cardstock spring, as the spring showed through the letters. While the spring showing through was distracting, the circle seems to serve a purpose and I don't mind it at all.

This spring is something I'm using a LOT - it was designed by Sam Calcott of Mixed Up Crafts and I will link a video for you where she shows how she makes them HERE.

Magic Iris Card for Easter

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today I'm sharing the third edition to my series "Magic Iris". By the end of the year I should have made & shared twelve different cards using this die set!  This 5 x 7" card has an extra layer on top ... the Fall Leaves Add On! Cutting it from green lightly patterned paper and adding green inking, it looks like a Spring wreath rather than Fall. I love getting more use from my dies! I have all the details in my YouTube video:

When you open the shutter, the sentiment is revealed. 😊.  Below you can see it partially open ...

... and finally, fully open.

I didn't want to add any extra weight to the card by layering two additional panels inside, so instead I cut a scalloped yellow frame by nesting two dies together. I saved the fallaway yellow piece for another card, then used the same smaller rectangle die to cut white card stock. I stamped that with a sentiment by Verses (retired) and nestled that into the frame.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards

'Let's Be Mermaids' Magic Iris Card

Today I'm sharing the second edition to my "Magic Iris" series, and I used several dies from Karen Burniston's new release.  I'll be back next month with another Magic Iris card!

I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube

When you slide the lever with the arrow, the shutters open to reveal what's underneath. This card has a stamped sentiment, which you can start to see in the photo below.

Below you can see the full sentiment. After stencilling the Sea Charms, I painted them with Lawn Fawn's Liquid Starburst. That was the first time I'd done that and I was so surprised at the shine!

Inside I added two stickers from the same package as the paper - I thought the sentiment was funny. This is a card that I will be sending to a friend for Happy Mail!

Late last year I was asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February so far - 47 Cards

Additional Supplies:
White cardstock
5 x 7" Card and Envelope
Purple cardstock
Paintbrush

Magic Iris Anniversary Card

As I've mentioned in other posts this month, I am going to start running several different series, and today's card is the first in the Series: Magic IrisIf you would like more information on those plans, you can find them  ****HERE****.

For this card I chose to make a 5 x 7" Anniversary card using older papers and stamps from my stash. Below you can see what happens when you start to slide the lever downwards ... the 'shutters' open to reveal the sentiment!

It took me a long time to finally purchase the Magic Iris (by Lawn Fawn) and I haven't used it nearly enough. Thus the series ... by the end of the year I hope to have shared twelve different cards using this die set!

Inside, I popped up the element with one of Sam Calcott's cardstock springs. I stumbled on them back in November, and have been using them a lot since. I will link her card video below, and you can scroll through to see how she makes these springs.

If you would like to see Sam Calcott's video on these paper springs, click HERE.

I have been asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.
2023 Tally: 50 cards

Additional Supplies:
White cardstock
Sentiment on front - Whimsical Words, Stampin' Up (long retired)
