'Bees & Balloons' Birthday Cards

I was flipping through the paper pad "Little Book of Bees', and near the back was this print. In between the honeycombs was a phrase - which I knew I would likely never use on a card. There are SIX of each design in the pad, so I pulled out all 6 and decided to use the panels by adding a strip of cardstock down the center to completely hide that sentiment. (Sorry, I can't remember what it even said!).

The pad is UK sizing, but I usually trim the panels down to work on a 4x6" card. These ones though, I wanted to trim to 4x5.25" and use on an A2 card base. Once I had them trimmed down and had added the white cardstock strip I was ready to decorate. This long stamp with the balloons & Happy Birthday seemed perfect! I stamped and die cut six of the images then coloured with alcohol markers. It's been AGES since I've done any colouring.

Before popping the balloon images up with foam tape, I lightly inked the centre with blue ink so it wasn't quite as stark. I added three gold foil bee stickers to tie in with the honeycomb, and coloured their bodies with an alcohol marker. Then I added some Wink of Stella glitter to the balloons - I do love shimmer & shine on a birthday card.

I stamped the sentiment inside and my cards were finished. I'll be saving one for my stash and the remaining 5 will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home. I was happy to be able to use up 6 of those panels in one go - especially since my initial reaction was that they would have to go into recycling.

Slimline Bandaid Card

Hello my crafty friends! This Slimline card is one I made for a friend, sort of a private joke. 😂. I was excited when Whimsy Stamps released this Big Boo Boo Slimline die as I knew I would get a lot of use out of it. Apparently I wasn't alone, as it sold out right away.

After die cutting the bandaid from the same light peach card stock as the card base, I inked it up with a wide blending brush & Catherine Pooler dye ink then spritzed it with water. Dropping a cloth on top helps pick up the excess water and still leaves you with the same splotched look you get with Distress Oxide inks.

I added the word OUCH with Karen Burniston's alpha die and added white gel pen highlights. Then the whole piece was attached to a light peach Slimline card base. Finally, I added two more die cut bandaids because I just couldn't resist.

On the inside, I added alpha stickers to a Slimline die by Rubbernecker, and two of the Fun Faces from Your Next Stamp.  I have a number of alphabet sheets that have come included in sticker books and paper packs that I rarely use, so I'm hoping to change that and use some of them up.

Paw-Some Birthday Card

Hello!  I can't believe it's taken me this long to share this one. Early last summer, I ordered a package of pet themed 3D Decopage elements from a Canadian online scrapbooking store I love. They looked adorable and when they arrived I realized that this package would be the perfect thing to take camping to work on. Which I did!

I remember punching out all the layers, getting them all assembled over the weekend and adding Stickles for some shimmer. There were 10 in the package, 2 each of 5 different designs. When were were packing up, I tucked them into their bag, put them on a shelf when we got home and promptly forgot about them. Sheesh! So here is my first card using one of those decoupage panels.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

These are fairly bulky, with all the foam tape used for the different layers so probably best for them to be hand delivered. It wasn't long after I made these up that I discovered thin foam tape and that would have really cut down on the bulk. I used Stampin' Up Dimentionals for these ones, but I was careful when placing them that I didn't have too many layers directly on top of each other. That does help them compress for mailing.

For your convenience I have linked many of the products used below. Some may be affiliate links which means if you use these links to purchase I may earn a small commission but there is NO extra cost to you.

Slimline Sympathy Card

Hello - today I'm sharing a sympathy card. This was a hard one to make, and I am struggling to write about the details for the card, so I'm keeping this post short. I hope I never ever ever have to make another sympathy card like this.

I can't imagine what the family is going through but they are in our thoughts, our hearts and prayers.
😢

I used white pearl card stock, and pearlized embossing powder for some softness.

A lovely, lacy Slimline die inside with a stamped sentiment that I think is very meaningful.

I found a lovely pearlized envelope in my stash to mail the card in.

... and that's it for me today.

Sending Hugs Slimline Card

Hello! Today's card uses more of that pretty patterned I received as a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) from Marilyn W back in November. I am enjoying USING the paper and not leaving it sitting on a shelf.

I had used this wreath die on a holiday card last month and mentioned that I really didn't use it much since it was too big for a Slimline card and almost too big for even an A2 card. But since I had it out anyhow, I had this idea to just use partial wreath's on a Slimline instead of the full wreath and this is what I came up with!

In the video of that Christmas Wreath Trifold Card (click HERE to see that card) I mentioned that I had got the wreath out as I had been eyeing the wreath die set from Stampin' Up but knew that I had this die and didn't use it very much and wondered if I really NEEDED another wreath die. Well, I caved and bought that set and now that I have used this older one a couple of time I am ready to play with the new set ... guilt free. 😉

I am trying really hard not to just 'collect' Slimline dies - but this one from Rubbernecker has such a nice edge detail I did order it and I'm really glad I did. It's just lovely! I die cut the ECD wreath twice from the dark teal card stock and added one to each edge of the Slimline card, snipping off the parts that overhung the edges.

Here is a peek at the inside:

I added just a touch of light stencilling to the inside and there was lots of room to write my message when I mailed this card.

Pop Up HOORAY, 100th Birthday Card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a very special Birthday Card ... it's for a friend's mom who is turning 100!!! She deserves a big party with all of the family, but of course with COVID the celebration will be much smaller.

I have a walkthrough of this Slimline Pop Up Card on YouTube HERE

Can I just say how much I adore this coloured glitter card stock? ❤️❤️❤️

Inside is the Pop Up, using the Hooray Pop Up by Lawn Fawn and the balloons are on the arms from the Mini Pops die set by Karen Burniston.

I added numbers to the balloons using Karen Burniston's Number dies and the balloons were tied together with twine.

Finally, one more look at the Pop Up from the side. It looks dusty in the photo but that is actually SHIMMER. Ha.
