Fun Fold Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing the 6th card in my monthly series "Throwback Fun Fold Dies" and I started with this Ticket Fold-a-Long die set. I thought these dies were fun, and ended up with three different Fold-a-Longs over the time they were available.

This one (Ticket Fold-a-Long) uses a bunch of older items in my stash, including the lovely vintage paper (from K & Co). I don't know what it is about outline floral dies that grabs me, but they do. This one is an older die set from Stampin' Up ... the year it was released there were two that I REALLY wanted, but I had to choose and ended up with this set (Hand Penned). LOL, I do keep an eye on the Facebook group where Canadian's can purchase retired Stampin' Up sets though ... in case someone is selling the other set I wanted. 😊

I guess I should call this more of a hybrid Fold-a-Long card, as I incorporated a 'bendy' card idea for the inside (the band that goes across the inside folding centre) and an accordion folded cardstock spring.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June so far -13 cards

Additional Supplies:
Ticket Fold-a-Long die set - Sizzix (retired)
Patterned paper - K & Company
Off White cardstock
Hand Penned Dies - Stampin' Up
Inside words - In & Out Birthday, Taylored Expressions

Two Circle Fold-A-Long Birthday Cards for Girls.

Hello my crafty friends

One of my Black Friday Purchases was the Donut Fold-a-Long die set by Jen Long for Sizzix. I bought it more for the shape than the donut aspect, but the donuts are lots of fun too. Today I'm sharing two cards I made using sweet embellishments from Doodlebug design and using the card die as a circular card base.

This is the card opened up, with a few more embellishments and a stamped greeting on the centre circle.

The second card uses the same patterned paper and colour scheme but has a unicorn on the front instead of the birthday cake. On both, I added lots of glitter.

These will be saved for when the Grandkids are going to birthday parties.

Supplies:
Donut Fold-a-Long - Jen Long, Sizzix
Patterned paper - Lynda Kanase, Sizzix
Stitched circle dies - MFT Stamps
Pink, white and blue card stocks
Embellishments - Doodlebug
Sakura White gel pen
Sakura Black glaze pen
Stickles
Words - C.C. Designs
Dot stamps - Stamps by Judith

Donut Fold-a-Long Birthday Card

Hello my crafty friends

One of my Black Friday purchases was this fun Donut Fold-a-Long die set. For my first card using it, I used the included donut accessory dies and added some sequins for the sprinkles. I've had this card finished since November, but am just getting to post it now.

I punched two banners from the donut printed paper and adhered them over the notches to hold the inside circle in place. The 'Sweet' die is another one that comes with the die set. I wrote 'birthday wishes' on a fishtail banner to complete the sentiment and added some more sequins.

This one went into my stash. I have some other ideas for this die as well, which is the main reason I purchased it.

Supplies:
Donut Fold-a-Long - Jen Long, Sizzix
Patterned paper - Doodlebug
Stitched circle - MFT Stamps
Pink and white card stocks
Banner punch - Stampin' Up
Pink fine point marker
Stitched Fishtail Banner die -  MFT Stamps
Sequins

Hello Sunshine Fold-a-Long Card

Good morning friends

For Fold-It Friday on my blog today, I have a flamingo themed Fold-a-Long card. Once again I used Lynda Kanase's TROPICOOL VIBES patterned paper. I am really enjoying this 6 x 12" paper pad as you can tell, as I think I've used it on my cards for three days in a row.

The paper stack has a few pages of Cut Aparts, so I fussy cut the flamingo's from one of the larger label pieces for the inside, and used the leftover piece for the card front. All the flamingoes got a black glaze pen treatment on their eyes and the tips of their beaks.

When you open the card, you can see the fussy cut flamingo's, a fussy cut pair of leaves, and Karen Burniston's Word Set 6 Summer.  We can sign our name on the white label area.

I thought this would be a fun card to send someone a bit of summer cheer.

Supplies:
Ticket Fold-a-Long - Jen Long (Sizzix)
Navy & white card stocks
TROPICOOL VIBES 6 x 12" patterned paper - Lynda Kanase (Sizzix)
Sakura black glaze pen
Label punch - Stampin' Up
Banner punch - Stampin' Up
Stitched fishtail sentiment banners - MFT Stamps
Bakers Twine

Christmas Stocking Fold-a-Long Card

Good morning friends

I'm back today with another holiday card for the stash. This one uses the Ticket Fold-A-Long die by Jen Long for Sizzix.

I've had these sparkly chipboard embellishments in my stash for a couple of years, so it was good to get them onto a card. The red dots on the patterned paper are embossed and sparkly as well, although that's hard to see in the photos.

Jen Long has a couple of new Fold-a-Long card bases out and I have exercised restraint and not bought any yet. I quite like these dies though - they are so different! They also work up fairly quickly, especially now that I know how they work.

I'm thinking I might just make another one of these, using some new tropical patterned papers and add a flamingo or two. :-)

Supplies:
Ticket Fold-a-Long - Jen Long (Sizzix)
Red and white card stocks
Chipboard embellishments - BoBunny
Nuvy Crystal Drops
Stamps - Hero Arts

Floral Cactus Fold-a-Long Card

Good morning friends

And now for something a little different, a floral cactus card! I have a friend who is looking at my blog right now and probably gagging, ha ha, because for her a cactus must be realistic. But I had so much fun making this whimsical card! In addition to the fun patterned paper, I added a label sticker from the package, a SMILE die and some sequins which catch the light.

When the card is opened, there is a happy saguaro inside wearing sunglasses and a big smile.

The patterned paper and stickers had been hanging around my craft room for far too long, so I was attempting to use some of it up.

This card will be going to a friend in Arizona, and I'm sure she will get a kick out of it.

Supplies:
Patterned paper and stickers - Basic Grey
Cactus Fold-a-Long - Jen Long (Sizzix)
Black and white card stocks
Xyron
Stitched circle die - MFT Stamps
Black fine point marker
Smile die - Paper Smooches
Sequins
glitter Pen
Sakura White gel pen

Sunset Photo Fold-a-Long Card

Good morning friends

Today I'd like to share another Instax Photo card, this time I used the Cactus Fold-a-Long for the card base, and Lynda Kanase's Succulent Serenity paper pad. I waited so long to be able to buy this paper pad that now I'd like to buy another and it's hard to find.

I have used the Bakers Twine to hold the Fold-a-Long cards closed before, and it works well. Easy peasy for the recipient to untie to open the card but the card stays closed util it is untied.

When the card is opened, there is a photo of one of our amazing Arizona sunsets.

I used brown card stock and Lynda's Photo Frame, Seasonal Props for the frame. The word 'beautiful' is from the Photo Frame, I AM Phrases. Inking the edges with Distress Oxide inks works well as this ink shows up on dark card stocks. I added some sequins as well and the card is done and ready to send.

The blooms on the cactus card base were also blended with the Distress Oxide Inks. Oh, and the cactus pot on the card front was made with the new Easter Basket at Elizabeth Craft Designs, I just trimmed off the handle and bottom so it would fit.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Succulent Serenity -  Lynda Kanase (Sizzix)
Cactus Fold-a-Long - Jen Long (Sizzix)
Photo Frame, Seasonal Props - Lynda Kanase (Sizzix)
Distress Oxide Inks
Photo Frame, I AM Phrases (beautiful) - Lynda Kanase (Sizzix)
Spring Basket (trimmed) - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Woodgrain Patterned paper - My Minds Eye
Sequins

Easter Fold-A-Long Card

Good morning friends

After making a few Easter Cards, I noticed a growing 'odds & sods' pile so I combined some of the bits to make this card.

The card base is the Ticket Fold-a Long and that fun plaid paper is by Lawn Fawn. I went through this colour plaid very quickly I liked it so much. I added a belly band to hold the card closed, made from a narrow strip of card stock layered with Washi Tape.

Below is the card without the belly band...

I'm not sure if you are supposed to do this or not - but I adhere the matted inside label to the top & bottom tabs so it doesn't slide around. If it moves out of place at all, then the card sides don't fold in again and that drives me nuts. :-)  A little glue saves my sanity, ha ha.

I think this is a nice cheerful card for Easter!

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Lawn Fawn
Ticket Fold-A-Long die, Jen Long (Sizzix)
Blue and white card stocks
Stickers - stash
Printed embellishments - Echo park
Stamps - Simon Says Stamp
Washi tape

Cactus Thank You Fold-a-Long Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is another Cactus Fold-a-Long card. For this one, I tied a loop of Bakers Twine to keep it closed  rather than the magnets I used on the previous one.

I'm always a fan of kraft, and when I saw this sheet with the gold foiled dots I had to buy it. I did well though and only purchased one sheet. I added some glitter dots to the flower area for more shine. The die set comes with the flower shapes to add to the base, but I didn't want to distract from the simple kraft and gold so left them off.

The 'Thanks' was die cut from gold foil card stock and adhered to a die cut rectangle. That was adhered to the left side of the card only.

Here is what the card looks like on the inside. So fun!

I have to replenish my supply of Thank You Cards, so this is a start.

Supplies:
Kraft & Gold patterned paper - Recollections
Cactus Fold-A-Long -  Jen Long (Sizzix)
Bakers Twine
Kraft, black and white card stocks
Gold foil card stock - scraps
Glitter Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Wonky Stitched Rectangle die - MFT Stamps

"Sending Sunshine" Fold-a-Long Card

Good morning friends

Wow - this is an older card; I made it last Spring to send a friend some Arizona sunshine! For some reason the post just kept getting bumped so I'm finally sharing it today.

I had just purchased this Fold-a-Long die by Jen Long (how could I resist?) and had also just received my package of little magnets.  These Fold-a-Long dies take a little figuring to get the patterned paper where you want it - especially if you want the magnets to stay hidden. The magnets worked really well at keeping the card closed though, and that made me happy.

Here is a peek at the inside:

The smaller cactus inside pushes forward and out when the card is opened.

Supplies:
Cactus Fold-A-Long, Jen Long - Sizzix
White & coral card stocks
Patterned paper - Pink Paisley
Sunshine die - Stampin' Up
Pan Pastels - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Stitched scalloped border die - MFT Stamps
Small magnet discs

Chair Thanks Fold-A-Long Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is a card I made to include with a cheque for wonderful lady who cleaned our house. We were having a pile of company and I was having an RA flare so she fit us in. It was wonderful having a nice clean home to offer our guests.

The patterned paper is from the farm themed stack I used for 'Farm Week' cards here on my blog back in June. It has silver foiled bits on it - you can see in the photo that the frame and a few of the chairs are silver foiled. I added the punched banner and some Nuvo Crystal Drops as well as a die cut 'thanks' to the front. I tied the bottom edge with Bakers Twine to hold the card closed ... no accidental reveal of the fun inside!

The card base uses the Ticket Fold-A-Long die which creates a unique pop-up card. I wasn't sure what do to with the label inside. Was it supposed to just be inserted under the tabs? Is it supposed to be removable? I found that if it shifted at all, then the card wouldn't close again and I know that people will often open and close a pop-Up card to see the animation. So I ended up adhering the label inside the tabs. It still works the same, so maybe that is how it's supposed to be done. At any rate, that is how I use this one.

There was lots of room for me to write her a little note, and the fussy cut chair is silver foiled.

The card didn't take very long to make, and I know "S" really liked it. I love taking the time to do something special for people and to let them know they are appreciated. What a great hobby this is!

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Recollections
White and black card stocks
Ticket Fold-A-Long, Jen Long - Sizzix
Thanks die - Lawn Fawn
Gel pen
Recycled Bakers Twine
Banner punch - Stampin' Up
Nuvo Crystal Drops

Good morning friends

I have a cheerful gatefold pop-up to share today - made using the Ticket Fold-A-Long die and goodies form my stash. Below is the card in the closed position. The fussy cut camera is adhered on the left side only, and the right corner tucks behind the stamped flower to hold the card closed.

I added the beautiful calligraphy die from Suzanne Cannon at ECD to the inside.

Here is another look at how the card looks when it's open.

This went to someone who was in need of  Happy Mail.

Supplies:
Ticket Fold-A-Long, Jen Long - Sizzix

Patterned paper - American Crafts
Zig Clean Colour Markers

Cactus Fold-A-Long Card

Good morning friends

This card has been made for several months, I just haven't had a chance to post it yet. I used the Cactus Fold-A-Long die set, which I really like. Below is the card in the closed position. It's held closed with a magnet between the sunglasses inside and outside the card. These magnets are strong, to be able to hold through four layers of card stock!

This was the first card I made with this die, and there is always a bit of a learning curve the first time you use a die that is interactive. While it was fairly straight forward, figuring out which paper patterns to cut with which end of the die took me a bit.

Fold-A-Long cards open from the centre to reveal a fun pop-up shape inside. The flower, sunglasses and face dies come with the set, but I've left off any words until I go to send the card.

I used my favourite dot stamp to add a little somethin' somethin' to the happy cactus inside.

This card went into my stash for now.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - American Crafts
White, orange and black card stocks
Zig Clean Colour Markers
Cactus Fold-A-Long, Jen Long, Sizzix
Dot stamp - Stamps by Judith
Stickles
Magnets (hidden)
Glitter Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Glaze pen - Sakura
