60th Anniversary Card and Gift Card Holder

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today I'm sharing a card and gift card holder that a family member asked if I could make for them. I was happy to do so ... and since the couple celebrating their 60th Anniversary love to spend time in the Muskoka's this is what I came up with.

I used several different dies by Karen Burniston, including the Label Charm Pop Up for the card. The scenic paper was a good match but since it was a special occasion I also wanted some sparkle & shine. That came from the rainbow holographic cardstock.

I have had the Pop Up Gift Card Holder for several years and I still get a lot of use out of it. This time I turned it so the gift card slides in from the bottom and their personal message would be revealed when the gift card was removed.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June - 34 cards
July - 56 cards
August - 106 cards
September - 61 cards
October - 51 cards & 5 Tags
November so far - 36 cards

I decided to cancel the subscription that provided linked thumbnails to what products I used on my cards. It was costing me out of pocket each month, so I’m back to listing what I used with a few affiliate links included.

Pop Up Snowman Slider Box

Hello my crafty friends! Today I'm sharing my Snowman Slider Box - I had SO much fun making it. And so much fun playing with it afterwards too. 😂  I have a walkthrough of this project, with all the details on YouTube

I added some die cut snowflakes with gems, and two decorated Surprise Cubes and when you slide open the drawer everything springs out. So much fun! The Snowman was adhered to a Bam Box - all the dies are by Karen Burniston and linked below.

As I said in the video, the card was inspired by the patterned paper and the cute Snowman die. I die cut a window into the box sleeve and backed it with acetate. I had been having trouble finding my Snowman die, and wanted to finish the project. So I ended up adding the circular embellishment to the center of the acetate and then, just before I started filming the video I got the Snowman Die! I had wanted him peeking out the window so I will do that another time.

Additional Supplies:
White cardstock
Black cardstock
Black marker
Seam Binding

Mini Slimline 'Just Because' Card

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Karen Burniston's September Designer Challenge with the theme of JUST. I chose to make a Mini Slimline Card using both new and previously released items I have all the details in my YouTube video

The gold pearl Thinking of You sits on a vellum heart with gold gel pen accents, and there are mirrored hearts sprinkled around as well.

Inside, I used the Heart Collage Pop Up along with the new Word Set 15 Just Because. The hearts were cut out of the same patterned paper, which makes the contrast a little hard to photograph. These cards are just always better in real life.

I added some stamping and more of those lovely mirrored hearts, and some Wink of Stella too. Lots of sparkle and shine on this one!

One more look ...

I have the rest of the Design Team linked on the right side of my blog, and I hope you will check out what they came up with for the challenge. Karen Burniston will have her post tomorrow (Wednesday) on her BLOG.

Pop-Up Graveyard Halloween Card.

Good morning friends

I have to say how much I'm enjoying Karen Burniston's new release and I'm not saying that because I'm on the Design Team. I love these dies! The Halloween Scene is actually a re-release of a set she had licensed last year. I was happy to see it again and pared it here with the tree from the Tree Pop-Up set.

I made the background with a combination of Colorbursts and Magical Shakers on 90# Water Colour Paper. The tree was cut from the centre and backed with purple patterned paper, then the panel was adhered to a top fold black card and embellished.

Here is the Pop-Up inside - I made it using the Tree Pop-Up platform. I cut it two times along the inner card fold then adhered the die cut graveyard to the two platforms for stability.

I used a white gel pen on the graveyard and a glaze pen on the edges of the inner card. That catches the light when the card is turned.

The Trick or Treat was hand lettered with an orange gel pen.

I really enjoy making Halloween cards!

Supplies:
90# Water Colour Paper
Color Burst - Ken Oliver
Magical Shakers - Lindy's Stamp Gang
Stitched square dies - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Black card stock
Patterned paper - Recollections
Sakura gel pens
Fun foam
Wink of Stella

PLAY Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog and today's share is the Birthday card I've made for our Grandson Ilai. He will be three next month - how time flies.

I found this in my 'In Progress Bin'. The card base had been die cut and the journal cards & patterned paper/stickers were with it. I remember starting this card while we were out at our cabin, but for some reason didn't complete it when we got back home. Instead the pieces went into the bin.

The 'P is for play' Journal Card was fussy cut from a piece of patterned paper in the stack, and I added a metal spinner with a yellow brad.

Inside is a Pop-Up using one of Karen Burniston's older dies - the Lucy Label Pop-Up. I added a die cut 'Celebrate' from Karen Burniston's Word Set 2 - Birthday, and used a Lawn Fawn alphabet die for his name. The hand lettering was done on label dies from the Katherine Label Pop-Up.

The pole and banners come from the Lots of Pops die set - I added a little foot to the pole and was able to slide it down through the slot (slot dies come with the Lucy Label) and anchor it to the floor of the card.

The dog was stamped onto one of my Colorburst/Magical shaker backgrounds then fussy cut. I used Zig markers on his ears, eyelids, tongue and collar. White gel pen on his eyes and black glaze pen for his nose so it's nice and shiny. I actually stamped several of these Crazy Dogs onto the water coloured sheet - they are so bright and cheerful!

Supplies:
Patterned paper and stickers - Echo Park
Lucy Label Pop-Up - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs) - discontinued
Fun foam
Lots of Pops (pole and banners) - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs) - discontinued
White card stock

Zig Clean Colour Markers (ears, eyes, collar and tongue)
Colorburst - Ken Oliver
Magical Shakers - Lindy's Stamp Gang
Crystal Nuvo Drops
Alpha dies - Lawn Fawn
Crazy Dog stamp - Stampers Anonymous

Turkey Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I have to admit that I have never made a Floating Floor Pop-Up card before. I know Karen Burniston offered the template on her blog and I liked what others did with it. But templates and I don't often get along and I prefer to avoid them if I can. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to find out that her new House & Fence Pop-Up die set includes a Floating Floor die. Die!!

I wanted to try it out with a simple card. Here is the front - the embossed fishtail piece was already done - it was in the scrap bin so I pulled it out to use.

Here is the inside, with my first ever Floating Floor. I have to say the die makes these so easy peasy - I had no trouble making it at all and needn't have worried about keeping this first one simple.

I used some die cut graphics for the embellishments, stamping and Nuvo Crystal Drops as accents.

This was such a fun card to make and I immediately had to make one for the holidays which I will share another day. My only tip would be to keep the embellishments up a bit on the tabs that stand up in the floating floor. My cooked turkey element touched the floor when I adhered it, and I do find the card squeaks when it opens.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - DCWV
Brown, cream, white and rust card stocks
Glossy photo paper
Graphics - Lettering Delights
Stitched circle frame die - Lawn Fawn
Black Sakura Gel Pen
Happy Thanksgiving - Echo Park
Stitched scallop border - MFT Stamps
Nuro Crystal Drops
Embossing folder - Stampin' Up

Card size - 5 x 4-1/4"

C4C399 Sketch Twist Circle Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our August 2017 Hostess is Raquel Mason and Fran Sabad is our Guest Designer. You can find Fran's Blog HERE

Raquel has a sketch for us today ...

... and here is my card using the sketch.

These lovely water coloured foxes were die cut from a piece of patterned paper, and I added shadows with copic markers and sky with Distress Oxide inks spritzed with water.

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Snowman Twist Circle Pop-Up! This is a fun Pop-Up that works up quickly and people seem to like them, opening and closing them several times.

The larger circle Pop-Up embellishment was done the same way, with a larger image than the ones on the front.

I also used Karen Burniston's Nature Edges and the Katherine Label.

This card is for my Mom to give our Son's girlfriend for her birthday this month.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd  love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C-399

Cupcake and Dogs, a Birthday Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is a fun Birthday card.

I made the inside a Pop-Up with Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-Up and some adorable dog stamps.

I am terrible at judging sizes of items when I buy on-line. I loved these Hero Arts dog stamps when I saw them on-line this Spring, but when they arrived I was disappointed at how tiny they were. But look how perfectly they work with the Cupcake Pop-Up!!

I also used Karen Burniston's Nature Edges for the top and bottom edges of the inner card. The word stamps I've had for awhile and they also work perfectly with this die set. Win!

I think I know just who this card is going to on their Birthday.

Supplies:
Pink card stock
Bristol Smooth card stock
Zig Clean Colour Markers
Dog stamps - Hero Arts
1008 Cupcake Pop-Up - Karen Burniston
Color Burst - Ken Oliver
Magical Shakers - Lindy's Stamp Gang
Liquid Pearls
Patterned paper - Dear Lizzy

Glaze pens - Sakura
Fun foam
Graphics - Lettering Delight
Glossy photo paper
Glossy Accents
Stitched Fishtail Banner dies - Elizabeth Craft Designs

Paper Pros August 2017 Challenge Card

Good morning friends

It's time for another Paper Pro's challenge ... this time Raquel Mason issues the challenge to make a monochromatic card.

I have to say I really struggled with this one which is weird as I normally like to make monochromatic cards. I probably tried to start a card 4 different times and nothing would come to me. Finally I had an idea to use Autumn colours with lots of crisp white and went with that.

The front of my card features the cloud die from Karen Burniston's Nature Edges. The stitching line is above and below the cut line so you can use both the positive and negative portions of your paper. I used one of my water colour backgrounds, made with Color Burst and Magical Shakers. I know lots of people are getting similar looks with their Distress Oxide inks but since I have the water colour powders I'm choosing to stick with those. Never mind that I love them. Ha!

Here is the inside, made using the Tree Pop-Up. This is such a fun tree - and so easy to assemble! There are two pieces ... trunk/branches and then the foliage cuts in a single piece. I cut the foliage out of the same water coloured paper and added white gel pen lines to the trunk and tire swing.

I added yellow dots inside each of the indents that cut with the Katherine Label , and also a die cut HELLO. The pink in the water coloured piece kind of throws it out of the monochromatic range, but I'm calling it 'artistic license'. Ha! To get the dimension on the background, I adhered fun foam to white card stock then cut it with the dies. It can be tricky not to get creases in the card stock, but most of the pieces worked ok on this one.

I am inspired to make a few more Tree Pop-Up cards now! Be sure to check out the other Paper Pro's. It's a casual group with the number of participants varying each month.

This month we have:

Evergreen Pop-Up Holiday Card

Good morning friends

I have a Christmas card to share today ... working on holiday cards throughout the year was one of my goals for 2017. When I received this paper pack I couldn't wait to crack it open and play.

The tree element is actually the part that falls away from the largest Pop-Stand piece inside. I simply cut another trunk from brown card stock. The gold foil border cuts from a die that is included in this Pop-Stand set by Karen Burniston.

Here is a look at the inside. I adore these expanding trees. They swing freely when the card is opened, but fold up completely flat when the card is closed.

Hmmm ... not the greatest photo of the expanding tree part, but it should give you an idea.

Into my holiday card stash!

Green, red and white card stocks
