Happy Birthday Platform Pop Up Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog. This card is the 8th edition to my monthly series "Platform Pop Up Cards". I made it for our son's partner (close enough to a Daughter In Law and that is how we think of her ❤️). I knew I wanted to use bright colours and add a die cut greeting on a piece of acetate. But what to add to the front and centre sections???

Well I went through my embellishment binder, which is a large zippered binder filled with baseball card holders and page protectors. I had organized it last year (or the year before?) with odds and ends elements I had cut for cards and didn't use. My Pinkfresh Studio washi tape die cuts are in there too, as well as things I cut multiples of or fussy cut. It's so easy to just flip through the pages to see at a glance what I have. Well - I had a couple of these Snowball the Sheep done and in one of the clear pockets, as well as the fence in another. Ta Da!

Afterwards I dug out the bin where I have all the other Pop it Ups Characters by Karen Burniston when she was designing for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I always loved the size of those characters, and now they are on magnetic sheets and much easier for me to get to. The Party Hat is from one of the character Props, but I don't remember what it's called. I thought that Snowball should be wearing a party hat, since this IS a birthday card!

I also added some self adhesive gems onto the acetate which is fun as they look like they are floating.

This card folds down flat for mailing, but I will likely be hand delivering it to her with her Birthday Gift. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom since she will see it when she takes the card out of the envelope. We can sign it there as well. Usually I add a sentiment on the back, but I am liking this idea and will do it again.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June - 34 cards
July - 56 cards
August so far - 88 cards

I decided to cancel the subscription that provided linked thumbnails to what products I used on my cards. It was costing me out of pocket each month, so I’m back to listing what I used.

Birthday Wishes - Honey Bee
Patterned paper - Sweet Celebration (6x6"), MFT Stamps
Snowball the Sheep - Karen Burniston (discontinued)
Fence die- Sizzix (retired)

Wobbly Bat Halloween Card

Good morning friends

Last season I had been working ahead on my Halloween cards for this year, which is why the photos are water marked with my old blog. Midnight the Bat is one of Karen Burniston's older licensed products, but he is SO cute I can see me continuing to play with him.

Midnight has wiggly eyes, sparkly ears and bow tie and is perched on an Action Wobble so he bobs and wobbles around on the card.

On the inside, I added some doodles and stickers as well as a strip of patterned paper and one of Karen Burniston's Ravens from her older Pop it Ups Halloween collection. This one comes from the Iron Fence Pop-Up but if you like raven images like I do, two of them come in Karen Burniston's Halloween Scene available at www.karenburniston.com

Supplies:
Black, white, orange, purple card stocks
Xyron
Wink of Stella
Sakura Gel Pen
Stickles
Glaze Pen - Sakura
Patterned paper - Doodlebug
Mini Action Wobble
Wiggly eyes
Glitter Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Iron Fence Pop-Up (Raven), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs - discontinued)

C4C395 Adirondack Birthday Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our July 2017 Hostess is Maryann Einam with Kristine Reynolds joining us as our Guest Designer all month. You can see Kristine's blog HERE.

Here is Maryann's challenge: Today is Hammock Day on the Days of the year calendar, what a wonderful way to relax.....create a card with the theme of relaxation in mind.

I wanted to make a Birthday card for our eldest daughter, and have to admit this card took a long time. But it was raining outside and I wasn't feeling all that great. So a whole morning spent in my craft room was warranted. As usual, I didn't have a set plan for the card - I just start with something and keep building until I'm happy with it. Apparently I just felt like doing a lot of building with this one!

Of course I also wanted to play with some of my new goodies - namely the new dies by Karen Burniston and my Color Burst/Magical Shakers. In fact, the whole card started by sprinkling the powders on regular green card stock and spritzing with water just to see if it would blend enough to give me something I liked. Which it did! I used the largest piece inside the card, but also made sure there was enough to cut the tree foliage from the new Tree Pop-Up set.

Having had good success with the green card stock, I tried a little of the water colour powders on a white card stock panel for the front of the card but wasn't as happy with the result. However, I used a grass stencil** and some dye ink in places and was much happier with it so continued on with the rest of the card front.
**Grass stencil was cut with an older Karen Burniston Outdoor Edges grass die from a scrap of card stock. It works great to drag colour over to create an inked grass border or clumps.

When I think of a relaxation card, I also think of Karen Burniston's older Adirondack Chair Pop-Up so used that inside. I had wanted to try using the pop-up arm mechanism from the new Katherine Label in a different way so placed that to the left of the chair. Then I added Virgil the pig wearing glasses and a party hat onto the pop-up arm - my daughter likes pigs!

Really, Virgil is pretty cute even without the party accessories. I was able to add a die cut Happy Birthday word balloon and added a die cut heart to that. There is a lot going on in this card!

I added some more of the water coloured foliage to the top back of the card. and a balloon from the Birthday Charm set onto the chair.

I added the included tiny heart over the charm hole on the balloon then wound 2 ply of Bakers Twine around the balloon stem and through a chair slat.

The fun thing about Color Burst/Magical Shaker water colour powder, is that you never know what you are going to get and it's impossible to duplicate something. Every piece is new and original, and my results are always unpredictable - which I love about them.

C4C-371 Valentine Fox Window Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our February 2017 Hostess is Tammy Hershberger, and our Guest Designer is Lisa Henka. You can see Lisa's Blog HERE.

Here is Tammy's' challenge:  "Today my baby girl turns 20! Oh my, where has the time gone? In addition to turning 20, Kelsey will also be graduating from Vet Tech school later this month, and we're so proud of her! In honor of Kelsey today, please create a card with animals in your design."

This card was inspired by Karen Burniston's card for our November 2016 Designer Challenge "Hat Attack".  You can see her original card on her blog HERE. I can't believe it took me this long to try the technique - I will be doing it again for sure.

I used the Lorna Label Pop-Up and Dutch the Fox to make a Valentine Card.

Gold is still very trendy this year, so I added some fun gold accents ... the hearts are from Karen Burniston's Spiral Circle Pull Card and the bow is from Midnight the Bat.
