Apple Thank You Card Duo

Last fall I was flipping through an older paper pad and when I saw this 12x12" sheet with the apples - I decided to pull it out and make a couple of teacher appreciation cards for my stash. These ones are a full 6" square - not a size I usually make because of the additional mailing costs for a square card. Since these ones will be hand delivered to our grandkids teachers though, I decided to go ahead with that card size!

I tried to do a pop up inside this first card, and added a window in the front. I can't remember what I did to mess it up (haha) but in the end I made that (sad) little shaker to try & salvage the card. The little Bookworm is from Karen Burniston and he is just too cute. I also added some rainbow holographic cardstock to brighten up the cards since the patterned & cranberry cardstock are very dark.  Below you can see the inside of the first card.

The second card has a large die cut apple, with a stamped sentiment. For some fun, I added the apple on with an Action Wobble spring so it bobs and wobbles. I think that was probably the last time I used an Action Wobble until recently when I've pulled them out again. I seem to go in phases with those things!

Below is the inside of the second card. These two cards were the first ones I pulled out of my card bin to give our daughters for the grandkids teachers, supplemented with the ones I've made recently.

Teacher's Aid Appreciation Card

I had to buckle down and make some time for creating, since I make our grandkids their Teacher Appreciation cards. This one is for Olivia's aid, there is a different card for her teacher that I actually made last year. Things always get busy this time of year with the weather warming up so I learned to work ahead for these cards. Obviously my good intentions failed me this year as I neglected to make a card that didn't have the word TEACHER on it!

The patterned paper is nice and heavyweight, so I was able to add each of the panels to the card with foam tape. It's hard to see in the photos, but it adds some dimension and interest. Since the card will be hand delivered, I don't have to worry about making it light enough to mail. 😊

The Thank You circle die is part of a set I've had for years - it's a 3D Drop Ins die by the Stamps of Life. I thought about using it as intended and make a pop-up inside with the Thank You, but I had already adhered the patterned paper to the card front and the Thank You circle fit so well I went this this instead. I used blending brushes and dye ink to add the colour on the white card stock circle behind the die cut words, then added it to the card front with an Action Wobble.

See? I go in phases with those and I'm still in an Action Wobble phase. It bobs and wobbles around so it adds some fun to the otherwise simple card.

Here is the inside - more ink blending and a stamped sentiment.

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - School Days, Miss Kate Cuttables (old, from my stash)
Thank You 3D Drop Ins - The Stamps of Life
Action Wobble

Basketball Coach Appreciation Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog!

When I asked our daughters how many teacher appreciation cards they would like me to make this year, our middle daughter asked if I could also make one for our grandson's basketball coach. I had completely forgotten about this stamp set from Stampin' Up that I have had for years, so it was fun to pull it out again. I added Nuvo Glaze to the basketball so it's raised and shiny.

Now my mojo has taken a nosedive, and if that wasn't enough - my craft room has become a dumping ground and it's hard to even move in there let alone get creative. However, I really wanted to get this card made and this is what I came up with.

The element on the front was attached with an Action Wobble. I go in phases with these things - it can be a year before I use one, then I want to use them on lots of cards for awhile.

I used an alpha die set to cut the letters for COACH, stamped 'thanks' above that then added some dots using my favourite dot stamp.

I had better get cracking on cardmaking, as I don't have anything made to share next week and usually I'm running at least three weeks ahead. Yikes!

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - Amber Moon, Prima
Simply Sports stamp set - Stampin' Up
Hexagon Crosshatch dies - Karen Burniston
Blending Sponge
Dot stamp - peg stamp, Stamps by Judith
Front sentiment - Simply Sentiments Teacher, Trinity Stamps
Action Wobble
Henry's ABC's - Lawn Fawn
Thanks - Biggest Wish - Stampin' Up
Nuvo Glaze

Wobbling Apple Teacher Card Duo

This pair of journal cards was in an old Project Life kit - I bought a couple of kits to use for cardmaking when they were on sale a few years ago. I thought these two would be good for 'end of school' or 'back to school' cards for the grandkids, but ended up making Teacher Appreciation cards with them instead!

I stamped 'thank you for all you do in between the pencils, matted the 4x6" journal card with black card stock and used a corner rounder punch on the corners of the black mat. Then I adhered those panels to white 5x7" top folding card blanks.

The apples were die cut and adhered with Action Wobbles for some fun action. I stamped the sentiment directly inside the card then added washi tape to the envelopes.

Supplies:
4 x 6" Journal Cards "This & That", Project Life
Corner Rounder punch - Creative Memories (old)
Simply Sentimental Teacher - Trinity Stamps
Teacher Apple dies - Frantic Stamper
Action Wobbles
Washi Tape - stash
5x7" card base & envelope

Wobbling Gnome Card

This is the 5th card I'm sharing made with the Bee Happy cardmaking kit by Paper Rose. The background panel was trimmed to fit my wide A2 card, then I embossed it with the honeycomb folder.

The gnome element was attached with an Action Wobble so he bobs and wobbles around - so fun! I added some Stickles glitter glue onto the gnome for some sparkle and then a few glitter dots on the card as well.

Here is a peek at the inside - I added some paper strips and a stamped sentiment with a foiled bee sticker. There is a sticker on the envelope as well.

Space Themed Mini Slimline Pop Up Card

Hello!  I had just received an order from R&R Scrapbooking out of Edmonton, and in it was this Galaxy metallic card stock pack. I had to dig in and make a card right away, so got out the Space Charms from Karen Burniston. I have a walkthrough of this Mini Slimline card on YouTube as well:

The lower space ship was attached to the card with a Mini Action Wobble so it bobs and wobbles around. So fun! The 'Thinking of You' is from Word Set 10 and I also added some gold glitter dot stickers to resemble stars.

Inside, I created a pop up with one of the dies in the Street Lantern Pop Up. It was a little short for this vertical orientation, so I added the off-cut piece from the panel on the left. I adhered that to the pop up arm and that extended it just enough for me to dd my space ship, alien and circle.

Costume Fhiona Mini Slimline Card

Hello! My Mini Slimline card today uses more of the new release at Your Next Stamp! I dressed Costume Fhiona as a Bumble Bee and added her to to the card front on an Action Wobble so she bobs and wobbles - so fun!

Here is a peek at the inside, with some light stencilling using the new Geo Fun stencil and a few of the fallaway pieces from when I cut the Honeycomb Die.

I was happy to find this bee printed paper in my stash, and the YNS Honeycomb die worked perfectly behind Fhiona.

Spotlight on Lifetime of Happiness

Hello! Your Next Stamp is doing a feature where the Design Team is spotlighting a specific stamp set and today is 'Lifetime of Happiness'. I created a Slimline Anniversary Card using the A2 sized Puffy Cloud Panel die set.

By cutting the Puffy Cloud Panel twice from white card stock, that gave me plenty of room to create the background for the Slimline card. I started by smooshing blue ink onto my card base and spritzing it with shimmer spray. Then I added one of the Puffy Cloud Panel die cuts onto the centre trimming off the overhang on each side. Cutting the second Puffy Cloud Panel in half I added them above and below the centred one and trimmed off the overhang.

The Hot Air Balloon Hamsters were stamped, die cut and coloured, then added to the card with a Mini Action Wobble so it bobs and wobbles on the card front. I added a couple of Gumdrops as well, because - well, I love the YNS Gumdrops!

Inside I used the Slim Stitched Slimline dies and What Not Sentiments Set 14, and also stamped one of the other images from Lifetime of Happiness on the left panel.

"Soaring By" Mini Slimline Card

Hello! I knew I wanted to put this cute parrot onto an Action Wobble as soon as I opened the new release package from Your Next Stamp. So that is the first thing I did with it! After stamping on water colour paper with YNS Black Olive Ink I die cut the parrot with the coordinating die. I added the colour with Karin Water Color markers and a waterbrush.

Next I die cut a second parrot - just with the die, no stamping - and adhered that one behind the stamped and coloured one. I find the Action Wobbles can leave a mark on your image because of the heavy plastic they use to make them and doubling up prevents this from happening. If I don't have a die to cut a second image, I will add a scrap of card stock to the back of whatever stamped image I'm going to adhere to the wobble to give me that double layer of card stock that will be over the plastic on the wobble.

The sentiments were white heat embossed on black card stock and matted with the same turquoise as the card base. I adhered one to the card front and the second part of the sentiment on the inside.

I added a bit of stencilling to my envelope and this card is ready to go in the mail ... I'm still sending out lots of Happy Mail!

Skating Dog Holiday Card

Hello crafty friends ...

I had SO much fun making this card! There is just something about rainbow colours that is appealing to me these days and I have to say I will be using them a LOT in the New Year. The background die on this card is called Skating Pond by Hello Bluebird and this was first time using it and of course I had to pair it with this fun skating dog image from Your Next Stamp! The happy skater is adhered with a mini Action Wobble so he bobs and wobbles around on the card front which is always fun.

Here is a peek at the inside - and I used another rainbow strip and this lovely Snowflake Border die from YNS. The snowflakes on the front and the extra ones on the inside were cut from the Snowflake Border as I had die cut two of them.

Yep - rainbows just make me happy!

This is a larger than A2 sized card but you can see that the A2 sized Skating Pond Background die can still work perfectly!

Wobbling Skeleton Halloween Slimline Card

Hello crafty friends ... Happy Halloween!

Today I'm sharing my last Halloween card for the year - and it's probably my favourite one. I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube with all the details so I'll keep my comments here to a minimum.

The skeleton had been in my stash for many years, and this year I actually assembled it and got it onto a card! The striped patterned paper has lots of sparkle, and the bats are also shiny. Just for fun, I added the skeleton to a (trimmed) Action Wobble and he bobs and wobbles on the front of the card. So fun!

Inside, I used one of the arms from the Upsy Daisy Pop Up to animate the cat & pumpkin. Those elements are stickers that were adhered to white card stock and fussy cut.

Supplies:

Various card stocks - stash

Skeleton - Cricut cut many years ago, cartridge unknown

Patterned paper - Making Memories

Shimmer Spray

Clear Resin Heart - Stampin' Up

Action Wobble

Rainbow Striped Slimline Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends ...

It's time for a new Challenge at Your Next Stamp -
the Fun Friday Challenge #14has a theme of 'CELEBRATION!'
(It's Your Next Stamp's Birthday Month - 11 years!!! )

The Fun Friday challenges come with two chances to win prizes!!
Comment on the YNS BlogInstagram or Facebook pages for a chance to win a free stamp set. Comment on all three to increase your chances, but comments must be left by August 12th 2020. The winner will be announced on August 14th on the YNS Blog.

More details about the prizes at the end of my post.

I also have a YouTube Video of this card with some of the details:

I wanted to play with the YNS Slim Striped Panel Die again - it's so different than any of the Slimline dies out there right now. I was going to die cut it from scraps of coloured card stock and inlay all the fallaway stripes back into the white one but realized that 1" high strips looked just as good and would be faster & easier. I adhered the card stock strips in behind the white panel - easy peasy!

I really like this Pick Me Up image, with the happy kitty & balloons. I coloured it up with Copic markers and cut it out with the coordinating die. Look how the die cuts out in between the balloon strings - I love that about YNS dies.

I die cut a second one to glue to the back of the stamped and coloured one. This gives the image good stability and is SO easy to do with dies. It would be difficult to fussy cut a second one and have all the edges match perfectly. I like a thicker image when I'm using an Action Wobble to prevent the plastic base from creasing the image when it goes through the mail.

I added some Stitched Puffy Clouds and also the Cloud Border to create my banks of clouds,

Finally, here is a peek at the inside. I cut the edges of the YNS Rectangle Scalloped Frame With Piercing Marks from black card stock for the scalloped borders. I love rainbow striped paper, and save all the scraps from a project. I was able to use up a couple of those scraps on the inside and then added some handwriting to finish it off.

The Fun Friday Challenge #145 runs through August 20th 2020 at midnight EST. One random participant will win a $15 gift certificate to the Your Next Stamp store.  If YNS stamps or dies are the focal point then the winner receives an additional $5 gift certificate for a total of $20!!  The winner will be announced on the YNS Blog the Sunday after the challenge closes. Check it all out on the Your Next Stamp blog HERE.

Supplies:
Striped patterned paper - scraps, Lawn Fawn
MISTI - My Sweet Petunia
White and coloured card stocks
Copics
Sakura - White gel and black glaze pens
Mini Action Wobble
White embossing powder
Black Sharpie for handwriting

Card size - 3.5 x 8.5", fits in a #10 Envelope

Slimline Ice Cream Card

Hello crafty friends ...

Today I'm sharing another Ice Cream themed Slimline Card. As mentioned in previous posts, every July (on a certain day) my Grandpa would take my Mom to the Soda Shop in their little town for an Ice Cream Sundae and my Mom kept that tradition with my brother and I and even after we moved out.  When Dad could no longer drive, we would make sure my Mom got her ice cream sundae on that day. Now that she is in heaven, we keep that tradition going with our children and grandchildren. It's a happy way to honour her memory!

I know the photos are blurry - it's because the chipboard Ice Cream Cone is attached to the card front with an Action Wobble so it bobs and wobbles around making it very hard to photograph.

I die cut Your Next Stamp's Slim Striped Panel Die from blue card stock and layered it over the patterned paper panel.  I didn't add a lot of glitter, but I HAD to add some of the Studio Katia Crystal Clear Confetti for a little sparkle.

Inside I stamped 'happy' then wrote July on a white die cut rectangle, which was then layered with blue card stock and patterned paper scraps to the card inside.

Below you can see the Action Wobble. This card was sent to my brother, and I think he will get such a kick out of it.

Supplies:
White and blue card stocks
Ice Cream Chipboard element - my stash
Slim Striped Panel Die - Your Next Stamp
Patterned paper - Abrianna, K & Company (old paper pad from my stash)
Action Wobble
Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangle - Pink Fresh Studio
Label - Foundations #4, Queen & Co
Cone2Dish stamps - the Stamps of Life
Happy - Goodies4Wheelbarrow, the Stamps of Life
Copic Markers
Sakura White Gel Pen
Crystal Clear Confetti - Studio Katia
Banner Punch - Stampin' Up
