Pop-Up Birthday Card Duo

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog! As I continue to pick away at using up my stash, I pulled out this older Paper Pumpkin kit to make a pair of pop-up birthday cards. The card bases in the kit are printed on the front and back, so I cut one apart to get two card fronts. After mounting the printed card panels to white card bases, I stamped a bird onto the panel and the sentiment onto a white fishtail banner. The purple vellum and the sequins were included in the kit.

Inside, I used Karen Burniston’s Twist Flower Pop-Up, which I have really been enjoying. The sentiment was stamped onto a white stitched circle, and after stamping the bird in the upper right corner of the card I stamped it again - without reinking - below the sentiment. Then the circle was adhered to the Twist Flower mechanism. 

I added a leftover patterned strip (from a different set of cards) to bring some more of the pretty scene inside the card then added a sequin to the sentiment and a second bird stamp at the bottom right corner.

Four SW Themed Pop Up Cards

I pulled out an older paper pad and decided to use two of the sheets to make four 5x7” Birthday Cards. Two use the Katherine Label Pop Up and the remaining two use the Twist Flower Pop Up - both die sets by Karen Burniston.

I love that the patterned paper has gold foiled bits! I wanted to keep the fronts nice and simple, so die cut ovals then stamped them before popping them up with thin foam tape.

Here is what the inside looks like using the Flower Twist Pop Up, and I chose one of these to go to a friend earlier in the month.

… and these two use the Katherine Label Pop Up. Both of these die sets are favourites, and looking at the labels on the right side of my blog you can see I have used the Katherine Label Pop Up NINETY times, and the Twist Flower Pop Up TWENTY THREE times. That makes me happy!

There was some leftover patterned paper, so I used those on A2 cards and will share those another day.

Panda and Cake Pop Up Birthday Card

I was supposed to post this yesterday for Fun Fold Friday on my blog, but I have no idea where the time goes! This is the birthday card I made for our grandson who loves Pandas. I haven't used this panda face die in a long time so I pulled it out and die cut it into white card stock. The die cuts the face/ear openings rather than the head so I backed the white panel with black glitter paper to show through the openings. 

There is often an indent left from the die that actually forms the head so I LIGHTLY went over that with a soft pencil and blending it out with a fingertip. It gives just a hint of the head shape but I like the effect. There was a strip of the rainbow paper sitting on my stamping desk so I matted it with black glossy cardstock (another scrap) and added a white heat embossed sentiment. 

I have shown these sentiments in video's before - they are the Simple Strips from Taylored Expressions and I just stamp, emboss and die cut a whole bunch of them at a time and store them into a clear plastic envelope. Saves so much time when I go to make a card!

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Twist Circle Pop Up since this grandson loves a pop up card. I decorated it with some older stickers from my stash and added a stamped sentiment onto the white panel. That is also where we signed the card.

Mini Slimline Pop Up Card for St. Patricks DayI

Sadly, I didn't get this card in the mail in time - so I guess I'll be hanging onto it til next year. I had to have oral surgery this week and the pain meds have sent me for a loop. Ha - but I'm recovering well and starting to wean off the meds. I sure didn't get much done except rest and snooze - which I'm sure helped the healing process. 

Anyhow I used one of Whimsy Stamps Slimline papers for my card as well as some really old stickers from my stash. They were adhered to white card stock & fussy cut so I could pop them up with foam tape. I also added some gold peel off stickers for some sparkle.

You can probably tell how much I love Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up die set, which is what I used here. A few more stickers as well as some washi tape inside. The sentiment iwas matted on rainbow holographic card stock. The tiny hears were also cut from that same card stock for a different project and the leftovers were sitting on my stamping desk. I added a few of them on the card.

Bar Mitzvah Pop Up Card

Our daughter asked if I could make them a Bar Mitzvah card and this is what I came up with. The card started with gold foiled blank cards that I got from Stampin' Up last year, and I added some gold foil card stock and gold foil tape to tie it in. I love the coordinating gold envelope!

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up (which has become such a favourite of mine) to animate a die cut stitched circle. The circle was decorated with a gold foil Star of David and a stamped Mazel Tov. More gold foil tape to complete the inside of the card and give them lots of room to write a message.

Back in October I shared a Slimline holiday card (you can see it HERE).  This is the second card I made - both cards came from the bottom portion of a  12 x 12" sheet, which had a glittery scene printed all the way across. This paper pack is several years old and at the time I also purchased the coordinating ephemera. I used some of that for my cards as well. 

Just like with the Slimline card, this one is a Pop-Up but I used the Twist Flower Pop Up by Karen Burniston inside.

The sentiment was stamped on a punched label, and both the 25th and the glittered church are from the ephemera pack.

August '24 Sheetload of Cards

Today I'm sharing my take on the August 2024 Sheetload of Cards. I actually finished these cards on the 2nd, but it took awhile to get the photos taken and I also have a walkthrough on YouTube.

This month's Sheetload yields eight cards, and I used the leftover patterned paper for two more. So I ended up with 10 cards! (Note - the bonus cards are shown in the video, but I didn't take photos of them).

Above you can see how I made six of the cards - these ones will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home. I took two of them to make pop up cards for my stash, using dies by Karen Burniston.

The Twist Flower Pop Up is such a fun pop-up die set, and works on a variety of card sizes. I made my cards into wide A2 (5.5 x 4.25") since I don't like top folding cards for my donation cards as they tend to collapse.

Floral Pop-Up Birthday Card

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog! The pretty floral bouquet on this card was made using a stamp/layering stencil set from Taylored Expressions, called Autumn Array. I die cut it using Karen Burniston's Squares Crosshatch and added it to a 5x7" card that had a floral paper panel mounted to the front. Since it's a birthday card going to a friend, of course I made it into a pop-up, too!

The sentiment is from my plastic envelope - I do a bunch of different birthday greetings at a time and store them all together so I just need to poke around in that envelope to find the one I want to finish off my card. So I'm not sure who makes that stamp!

Inside I used the Twist Flower Pop-Up die set by Karen Burniston, which is definitely one of my favourites. This time I actually used the included decorator dies, which was also fun. I took a 4 x 6" strip of leftover patterned paper and cut it in half at 2". Then I adhered each piece right up to - but not over - the fold. The daisy borders were also cut from the patterned paper, but since it's double sided I used the blue print side instead of the floral. 

The leaves were die cut from scraps of green pearlized cardstock and I added Pops Of Color (sparkly thick glitter glue) on the daisy border centres and the focal flower centre as well.  Finally I added a stamped sentiment on either side of the card and got it photographed and ready to mail.

Pop Up Wedding Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday on my blog! ItOur daughter-in-law's brother is getting married this month and I offered to make a wedding card. The bride loves pink, orange and yellow so those are the colours I went with - along with lots and lots of white.

I love a larger card for a wedding, so this one is 5x7". The patterned paper had the right colours, and since it's such a 'loosey goosey' print, I scribbled more pink, orange and yellow onto the flowers with alcohol markers. I knew I'd be covering the paper with vellum to soften the paper, but it would have been OK without. The Foliage Frame was die cut from white pearl cardstock and the Happily Ever After was cut from rainbow holographic cardstock. Actually I cut it three times - twice from white and once from the holographic. I adhered the three layers together so it would be nice and sturdy - like a chipboard element, and since the card is being hand delivered I didn't have to worry about bulk. Finally, I added a trio of mirrored heart confetti pieces and filled in the open heart on the sentiment with glitter glue.

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up. I sure get a lot of use out of that one having made over 15 cards with it already!  

The wedding charms are also by Karen Burniston. When you snip off the hanging hole, they become cute little elements you can add to your cards. I love the embossed feature on the brides dress.

Pop Up Mother's Day Card

I'm VERY late posting today, but it's still Friday here so it still counts. Ha!  It was another busy day here - it feels like the last three weeks have just been a whirlwind. Should be a busy weekend as well, with Mother's Day, our granddaughter AND our daughter's birthdays. Next week has a few busy days but also one or two with nothing on the calendar so hopefully I can catch my breath. I haven't been able to get into my craft room in over a week and I'm getting cranky. 

Today's card is a 6x6" square card - not a common card size for me, only because they cost so much to mail. But this will be hand delivered so I was free to load it up. I was able to use up several things with this card as well - the patterned paper (only 1 full sheet left in the package and not many scraps!), the nice big sticker (which I was saving and finally got to use it) and some more fussy cut images from a sheet of Stamperia paper. The Love You is a die by Karen Burniston.

Inside I used more dies by Karen Burniston - the Happy Mother's Day with the shadow, the XOXO and of course the Twist Flower Pop Up for the mechanism. Lots of chipboard elements too, and on the centre ones I peeled off a few layers so there wasn't quite so much bulk.

Such cute ephemera - it made me happy to use so much of it on the card. Oh, and I used an alcohol marker to create the grass on the white stitched circle for the little girl to sort of ground her.

Pop-Up Mini Slim Birthday Card

While I have been having a lot of fun with the Pop Up Mechanism included in the Twist Flower Pop Up, I haven't really used the included flower dies before. So that is what I added inside today's card.

The front of the Mini Slimline card, as well as the banners inside are actually on a sheet designed to be cut apart. I was ready for some different floral paper, so picked up this paper package and the coordinating solids and look forward to playing with them some more. 

The sentiment was stamped on a lightly inked, punched out hexagon and I added some gold glitter dots for shimmer & shine.

'Celebration Mouse' Pop-Up Birthday Card

I know I haven't posted much this week - it's been so busy and honestly, I'm only willing to spend so much time on the computer and then I'm done. So my blog posts had to be put on the wayside for a couple of days. I also haven't been in my craft room and unable to make anything new. 😩  Doesn't look like I'll get in there this weekend either, as we will be busy with family both Saturday and Sunday. 

Today's card is one I had envisioned when I bought the Mouse Edger die. I can't remember if it was just last year or if it was the year before - R&R Scrapbooking had a great sale on Crafters Companion dies and I picked up a number of these cute edgers. It's perfect for birthday cards and I figured I'd be able to use it for some nursing home donations cards as well. The mouse was cut from a 4.5 x 6" piece of Rainbow Holographic card stock and I wrapped narrow gold foil tape around the left edge before adhering it to a 4.75 x 5.75" sheet of patterned paper. NOTE:  I outlined the right side of the die cut with a grey alcohol marker for some definition, and lightly ink blended some orange ink around the mouse to give it more contrast from the patterned paper. The dye ink just wiped away from the holographic card stock so this was easy to do.

The Happy Birthday was cut from a different paper pad, matted with white card stock and added with thin foam tape.

Once again, inside I used Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up - I just love how versatile this pop-up is! This time I added a gold foil scalloped circle along with a white circle and the Birthday Wishes sentiment. Cutting two 4" square sof the orange marbled paper then cutting them on the diagonal gave me some colour inside the card and I stamped a sentiment on the right side. Some gold glitter dot stickers for additional sparkle and I was finished the card.

Rainbows & Clouds Pop Up Card

Today I'm sharing the last card made with this rainbow paper and it's a pop up. As usual, my card started with the patterned paper which was in a 12x12" package. Going through the remaining sheets, I saw one with a large rainbow across the bottom half. It was too big to use on an A2 card, or a Slimline but I thought it might work on a 5x7" card. I cut the rainbow panel down to 6.75" keeping just the rainbow. So now my sheet was 12 x 6.75" and had a large rainbow across the centre.

I cut that sheet in half at 6", giving me two pieces with a half rainbow on each ... and I trimmed the outside side down so each panel measured 4.75 x 6.75. Since there was a second sheet of this large rainbow print in the package I repeated the cutting above and had four half-rainbow panels ready to add to card fronts! In the photo below you can see how they would have fit together if I hadn't cut the sheet in half. You can see the other three cards HERE, HERE and HERE if you are curious.

The Hello Sunshine piece was fussy cut from a sheet of cut apart in the package and the cloud punch is from Stampin' Up. For the one on the front I used Rainbow Holographic card stock for even more shimmer & shine.

Inside the card I used the Twist Circle Pop Up - one of my new favourite die sets by Karen Burniston. It works in a variety of card sizes and you can animate so many things! Here I have a cluster of punched clouds along with a fussy cut rainbow from the same piece as the sentiment on the front. 

Some of the punched clouds are from the Rainbow Holographic card stock and others were punched from white and inked with blending brushes. The Paper Hugs is a die I've had for about a year and I think this is the first time I've used it - yikes.

Mini Slimline Pop Up Anniversary Card

 

Today I'm sharing the shiny anniversary card I made for our eldest daughter & hubby. I started by die cutting the sunburst heart out of rainbow holographic card stock - I love that die and finding reasons to use it. 😂.  Last year I made a bunch of alcohol inked backgrounds on vellum and have managed to hoard every single one. Sheesh. So I pulled one out to put behind the die cut then mounted it to a Mini Slimline card base.

Wanting to keep the front nice and simple, I added a gold heart to the center of the sunburst and a gold Glitter Dot as well.

Inside I used the Twist Flower Pop Up die (Karen Burniston) to animate a crosshatch heart cut from the same rainbow holographic cardstock as I used on the front. I die cut more hearts, both from the alcohol inked scrap pieces, gold foil card stock and the rainbow holographic cardstock scraps.

The Happy Anniversary was done with Sharpie markers.
