Snowflake & Sleigh Slimline Card

Today I'm sharing a Slimline card that was created with Mini Slimline dies for the background!  My card started with some A2 notecards that had this pretty copper plaid on the front. I wanted to make a Slimline card, but obviously the notecards were only 5-1/2" long so they wouldn't work for the background.

I pulled out Karen Burniston's Short Rectangles Crosshatch (which I use a TON) and die cut the two note card fronts with the largest die in the set. Overlaping them in the center was fine as I knew the large snowflake would cover the seam. Perfect! To separate the copper snowflake from the background, I added two crosshatch banners (also dies by KB) cut from white cardstock. Again, that snowflake covered up the seam in the center.

The snowflake is one I bought to work with the Magic Iris die, since I knew I could use it independently as well. The smaller snowflake in the center actually embosses the stitched snowflake rather than cut it. I added a silver snowflake on top of the stitching, and finally a silver embossed sentiment with some gems.

Inside is where I had some fun. I pulled out another KB die set - the Sleigh Pop Up and cut it from both silver and copper mirrored cardstock. Instead of adding it to the card as a pop up though, I used one of Sam Calcott's cardstock springs so there is a little movement when you pick up the card. So fun! I have been using those springs a fair bit and will link her video below  so you can scroll through it to find how she makes them if you are interested.

The sentiment was stamped on another size crosshatch rectangle, and I die cut some of the gifts from scraps of leftover plaid note card from the card front. Lots of shimmer and sparkle on this card, which I love in a holiday card.

This is the second card in my series 12 Months of Christmas - and I will be back again next month with another Christmas card for the series.

If you would like to see Sam Calcott's video on these paper springs, click HERE.

I have been asked how many cards I make but I didn't have a clear number. Since many of my posts include more than a single card or project, I thought it would be fun to keep track this year.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February so far - 24 cards

Additional Supplies:
White cardstock
Copper Mirrored Cardstock - Recollections
Sentiment - Encircled in Warmth, Stampin' Up

Holiday Sleigh Pop-Up Card for the Designer Challenge

Good morning friends

Welcome to Karen Burniston's December 2018 Designer Challenge, where the theme is: "INK IT!" - incorporate inks (or paints, or sprays, or pastes) into a card of any theme.

I didn't add any inking to the front of my card, instead using some of the same elements as I have inside the card to tie it all together.

Both the Sprig and the layered flower are from the Flower Pot Pop-Up die sets, and the pretty scalloped element is from the Cake Trims. I use those a lot for different borders etc - love getting more mileage from my dies by using them in different ways.

Inside I followed the assembly instructions Karen Burniston shared in her video to make the Sleigh into a 90ยบ Pop-Up instead of a Pop-Stand. (Video linked at the end of the post).  For the INKING part of the challenge, I used a stencil by Pink & Main, with gold shimmer paint on the sleigh, and Distress Oxide ink on the inner card.

The sleigh is filled with sprigs, flowers and gifts! I used red card stock and the sparkle comes from the white glitter paper and gold foil card stock.

More Cake Trims inside (including the little bows) and the scalloped edge was cut with a die from the  Tropical Scene.

It's also fun to mix and match dies from all Karen Burniston's die sets - and my signing block was created using the scalloped rectangle from the Twist Panel Pop-Up with a cardinal from the Christmas Tree Pop-Up die sets.

You can check out what the rest of the design team came up with for the challenge - their blogs are linked on the right. Karen Burniston will have a group post and her project tomorrow (Wednesday) on HER BLOG.

Be sure to check out KB's assembly video for different ways to use the Sleigh Pop-Up to create a variety of looks!  As with all of Karen Burniston's Pop-Up dies, she has assembly video is right on the product page.  Sleigh Pop-Up & Assembly Video

Sleigh Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I have had a couple of blog posts scheduled during this hectic season, so I can spend time with family and friends. I do want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, for those of you who celebrate.

Today I have a Pop-Up card with a sleigh inside, which seemed fitting for the day. The patterned paper has gold foiled bits on it and I added some gold foil snowflakes as well.

Inside I used the Katherine Label Pop-Up to animate Karen Burniston's wonderful sleigh die cut. A flying sleigh!!

A few more die cut snowflakes in gold, red and white ...

... and the sleigh is stuffed with die cut gifts and a few more snowflakes.

Patterned paper - DCWV
Red, cream, off-white confetti card stocks
Cream print patterned paper scrap
Gold card stock - Recollections

"Fleas Navidad" Pull Card

Good morning friends

I'm kind of excited this morning, as today we are all going over to my brother's for our Christmas Eve dinner. He found out he had to work on Christmas Eve and was very disappointed as he really enjoys hosting this dinner every year. Thankfully today worked for everyone so he moved the date this year. It's our big holiday meal as Christmas Day is always at our house and very casual with nibbles and appetizers.

Onto today's share - I had been having fun with this older Paper Smooches stamp set so used it again here with Karen Burniston's (discontinued) Oval Pull Card.

The slot at the top holds the card closed, but when you pull the sides apart you see there is an arm that the mouse, cheese and gift are attached to and they slide across the inside. It's just a little slide, but movement on a card is always fun.

Couldn't resist adding a sleigh - I adore this sleigh from the Sleigh Pop-Up set! You can fill it with all kinds of things, too.

My posts for the next week will be scheduled, so I can enjoy time with friends and family.

Supplies:
Oval Pull Card - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper - DCWV
Red, white card stocks

Black glaze pen - Sakura

Vintage Pop-Up Christmas Cards, Day One

Good morning friends

When I first got my Pop 'n Cut Dies by Karen Burniston several years ago, I went to town cutting card fronts and inserts. This year I managed to finish off quite a few of the ones I had cut and put in the "Christmas Cards In Progress" bin. I had cut cards from all the remaining 12 x 12 sheets in a package by My Minds Eye, and will share here them this week.

Getting these cards finished and ready to send out was VERY SATISFYING, considering they have been in that bin for so long.

Here is the front view of the first two cards:

For the insides, I used the included Pop 'n Cut Circle Label Insert and one of Karen Burniston's newer dies - the sleigh from the Sleigh Pop-Up set.

I really REALLY like this sleigh ... and here it is done in kraft and red glitter, which coordinates with all the red glitter on the patterned paper.

I'll be back tomorrow with a trio of Vintage Pop-Up Christmas cards.

Supplies:
A2 Pop 'n Cut base with included Circle Label insert - Karen Burniston (Sizzix)
Patterned paper and some of the embellishments - My Minds Eye (Lots & Found Christmas)

Gold gel pen - Sakura
Script patterned paper - Recollections
1021 Sleigh Pop-Up - Karen Burniston
Merry stamps and die - Hero Arts

Polar Bear & Sleigh Holiday Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

I have a fun Pop-Up card to share today that I made using a bunch of Karen Burniston's dies and a paper package from Stampin' Up. The card front is simple because all the fun is on the inside. I added a pair of labels from the Katherine Label Pop-Up and the bear from the Winter Animals set. Cutting him out of white makes him a Polar Bear!

Inside I used the Floating Floor  & fence from the House & Fence Pop-Up along with the sleigh from the Sleigh Pop-Up.

The words from the Holiday Word Set are interchangeable & can be combined however you want, so I used both the Christmas & the Greetings for my sentiment. All of Karen Burniston's Word Set dies work together so with four sets now, you can combine a lot of different words for your greeting! The label at the top was made by putting one side of a paper strip at a time into the Katherine Label Pop-Up label die. That gave each side a stitched and shaped detail.

I love how perfectly the little fence fits on the floating floor.  I made a trio of Polar Bears for the inside and added one to the sleigh with a die cut gift. That sleigh! It's going to be so much fun.

Into my holiday card stash with this one. In fact, I'd better get started getting the cards organized and decide who gets which one.

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Stampin' Up
White card stock
Green star dream card stock

1016 Winter Animals - Karen Burniston
