August 2022 Sheetload of Cards

Hello my crafty friends. I'm back with my second post today ... usually Sheetload day (the 2nd of each month) and Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge Day don't fall on the same day - but this month they did. So ... two posts, lots of cards to share and two different YouTube video's!

Since I'm on the Sheetload of Cards YouTube Collaboration Team, I have all the details in my video HERE:   

This month the Sheetload of Cards yields twelve cards and uses three different 12 x 12" patterned papers. I chose to make Christmas cards and did three sets of four cards. Four 'flat' cards, four with Karen Burniston's Evergreen Pivot Panel die set and four with her Katherine Label Pop Up set.

First up are the ones with the Evergreen Pivot Panel - which works great for Christmas cards although I use this one year round.

The next set show the Katherine Label Pop Up although instead of the label shape I used large red die cut snowflakes and a Merry Christmas sentiment to pop up.

Mini Slimline Pop Up Card Duo

Hello my crafty friends!  This pair of Mini Slimline cards are based on the April 2022 Sheetload of cards. I finished them in early April but couldn't share them because I used some of Karen Burniston's new release. We could't share our projects until May 9th so I hung onto the photos until now. 

First of all, I LOVED the April Sheetload, as it was for Mini Slimline cards. But when I discovered that the Pivot Panels fit inside this fold? I was SO excited. Below you can see the inside of both cards.

I used papers, cut aparts and stickers from Echo Park's 'Summer' line and this Sheetload uses 6 x 6" papers. The card front (which is shorter than the card back) has one of the prints and the inside has a coordinating print. You can see both as the card comes out of the envelope. Now that April 2022 Sheetload was hugely popular and I knew I'd make it often. But if I can make a Mini Slimline, a Fun Fold AND a Pop Up? That's just a winning combination in my books. 😊

The Flower Pivot Panel is what I used inside, as well as the Border Blends: Trims. The dragonflies are from the new Flutter Charms.

Love the dragonflies ... they have both a solid and a detail layer. 

The second card uses the same dies as above, but also the Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday Shadow.

Karen Burniston has assembly videos for all of her pop up dies including this one. If you have the die, then you have probably already checked out her video tutorial so I don't attempt do 'reinvent the wheel' by doing another assembly one. I prefer to show you different ways you can use those same dies since people love to see a variety of looks! White Christmas Slimline Card

Hello!  This is a different kind of card from me, but you will be seeing it a fair bit now. Funny how your likes change over time! Last month I went to do a Design Team card share on FaceBook and saw that Rhea of R&R Scrapbooking was doing a FaceBook LIVE. I don't usually have time to watch them, but since I was still nursing the tendonitis in my right arm and had a cup of hot coffee sitting beside me - I sat and watched it.

Rhea mentioned having a Flash Sale on Creative Expressions dies, and showed a few of them as well as a lovely stack of metallic papers from Hunky Dory. Then she showed some beautiful cards she put together using one of those fancy dies and I have no idea why they grabbed me but they DID. I went right to the website and started scrolling. And 'adding to cart', ha ha.

These lovely edger dies from Creative Expressions cut on one edge only, so you can choose where on your card to do the cutting. I love having flexibility in a die like that. Because of that I knew how well they would work on Mini Slimlines and possibly Slimline cards too. Sold!

Here is the first card I made with one of the Creative Expressions Edger dies paired with metallic card stock - of course it had to be a Slimline card. While it's hard to see in the video, the white card stock is pearlized and also has a lovely shimmer.

In addition to the stamped sentiment, I added a pair of die cut snowflakes also cut from white pearl card stock.

Tiny Gnome Christmas Pop Up Card

Hello -  It looks like this is my first Christmas card of 2021! I wanted to have a play with the new Tiny Gnomes by Karen Burniston, and this is what I came up with. The beard & braid dies have new 'stamp & cut' technology, where you ink the die before you cut it and you get this great detailing in one pass. So cool, right?

I didn't do a YouTube video, as I'm still nursing the tendonitis in my right arm ... but here is a short video so you can see the card opening and closing:

I used the Train Pivot Panel in a vertical position instead of horizontal and that a gives you lots of pop up platforms to decorate!

The Merry Christmas was released previously, but this newest release has the shadow die for it. YAY! I love how the shadow die separates the words from the background AND it makes it easier to pop up with foam tape.

Circle Tag Book with Ice Cream Cones

Hello!  It's time for Karen Burniston's July Designer Challenge, and she challenged her Design Team to create a card using either the Tag Book or the Circle Tag Book. 

Every year I send Ice Cream cards to my kids in honour of my Mom. When she was a little girl there was a parade in their small town each July and afterwards her dad (my Grandpa) would take her for an ice cream soda. She made sure to take my brother and I for ice cream on this day each July and I did the same with my kids and now my grandkids. When my Mom lived away from us for a few years, I started sending her Ice Cream themed cards since we couldn't be together for an ice cream sundae and now I make sure to send my kids and my brother an ice cream card in July.

That is why I made an ice cream card for the challenge!  I have all the details on YouTube:  

As I said in the video, I chose to add the Evergreen Pivot Panels inside instead of the insert from the Circle Tag Book. I added it upside down then snipped off the hanging holes from the ice cream charms in the Sweet Treats set.

The ice cream scoops were die cut from glittery card stock in the patterned paper package and there are glittery bits in the patterned paper too.

Finally, here is the top view of the card.

I needed one more Ice Cream card so worked ahead and you will be seeing another one for the August Designer Challenge, only this time I used Karen Burniston's Parcel Pop Up combined with the Ice Cream Sundae Pop Up. 😊

I was also going to share  the Circle Tag Book assembly video for you, but since I really only used the outside, I'm just sharing the Evergreen Pivot Panels one only.  Remember Karen Burniston has assembly videos for her pop up dies!  Once you know how to assemble your die, the rest is card size, paper and colour choice as well as embellishments! You can change the look of your card every time you use the dies. :-)  I always enjoy showing you different looks and ways you can use your dies once you know how to assemble them.

Crab and Shark Pop Up Card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a card that was made a LONG time ago for a challenge that didn't end up happening. I had been hanging onto the photos and decided to just go ahead with a video and get this card shared. I have a YouTube video here with all the details: 

Inside, I used Karen Burniston's Train Pivot Panels turned vertically instead of in a horizontal format as it was designed. Doing it vertically gives you lots of pop up platforms to decorate!

Note, I trimmed the train engine from behind the top shark so nothing would stick out the bottom when the card was closed.

Remember Karen Burniston has assembly videos for her pop up dies! Once you know how to assemble your die, the rest is card size, paper and colour choice as well as embellishments! You can change the look of your card every time you use the dies. :-) I always enjoy showing you different looks and ways you can use your dies once you know how to assemble them.

Flower Pivot Panels Sympathy Mini Slimline Card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing another card featuring Karen Burniston's NEW RELEASE! Once again I made a Mini Slimline card and used the new Flower Pivot Panels inside. I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube:  

While I thought about doing a completely white on white card, it just felt really flat so I brought ini some matte silver card stock from my stash. The With Sympathy is from a previous KB release and I really like the size of it. I added it to a panel of white pearl card stock and then some crystal Nuvo Drops.

Inside is the new Flower Pivot panels. In addition to the white card stock and the white pearl card stock I also added white glitter card stock! 

The 'Thinking of You' cuts as a single piece, which makes it nice and easy to adhere. It's from the Word Set 10.

The pierced rectangle for the signing block is from the new Waterfall Card die set.

Bright & Cheery Flower Pivot Panels

Hello!  It's an exciting day for fans of Karen Burniston as today the Design Team can start to their projects made with the new release! I have a walkthrough of my card on YouTube.  

While this isn't the first card I made with the release, it is the first card I'm sharing - I rarely post my cards in the same order I make them. This card is a side folding Mini Slimline Card and decorated the front with rectangles from the new SLIM FLAPS AND FRAMES. 'From the Garden' is from the previously released Garden Charms, but the HELLO is from the new WATERFALL CARD die set. The hello part is a re-release from a retired set and I'm so happy that it's back. It's the perfect size to add a little greeting to your cards.

As I showed in the video if you die cut a single bloom from a scrap of card stock and use the negative area as a stencil, you can create custom backgrounds!

Inside I used the NEW FLOWER PIVOT PANEL POP UP, combined with some older Karen Burniston dies. New KB dies always play nicely with older ones. Ha.

All of the flowers and leaves come included and the flower centres cut as a single piece, so you get all the centres you need to complete your Flower Pivot Panels Pop Up with a single pass through your machine. I love that!

The pretty scalloped rectangles and the 'love you' are from the previously released Pop 'n Swap die set.

Rainbow Hearts Slimline Pop Up Card

Hello and welcome to Karen Burniston's first Designer Challenge of 2021! 

This month KB challenged the design team to create a project with the theme 'Thinking of You' and here is my Pop Up Slimline card. I have a walk through video on YouTube HERE:

I came up with this idea late one evening when I was looking at the Heart Pivot Panels and trying to decide how I could use them in a Slimline Card. It wasn't until a few days after I finished my card that I realized I must have been influenced by Karen Burniston's November Designer Challenge Project (linked in the supply list). I used lots of happy rainbow colours - you will be seeing a lot of those from me in the next little while. I'm just craving them!

I am really excited about this idea, as I really enjoy all of the Pivot Panel die sets but really prefer Slimline cards these days. Now I can combine the two and create Slimline cards that are also Pop Ups!.Yeah!!!

Since the Thinking of You cuts as a single piece, it is easy to adhere multiple layers together as I did here using more brightly coloured card stocks.
 

Holy moly, glitter and shimmer is hard to photograph. Hopefully you could see all the shine in the video! The 12 x 12" patterned paper pad included a sheet with a large glittered sunburst but the pattern is too large to work on even a 6 x 6" square card. So I snipped small portions of each of the coloured sections and used those to cut my glittered hearts from.

To create this Slimline card, I cut two pieces of black card stock for the base. One measured 8-1/2 x 3-1/2" and the second one was 6 x 3-1/2". This smaller piece is the card front. I scored 1/2" from the left edge of the card front, which gave me a flap to wrap around and adhere to the back edge of the card for a folding card that will fit the Heart Pivot Panels. It's probably easier to see in the video than to try to explain it here. 

The Heart Pivot Panel was also cut from black card stock and assembled as per Karen Burniston's Assembly Video

The patterned paper was cut 12" x 3-1/4". I trimmed a 5-1/4" panel for the front, and a 5" piece for the inside right. The remaining piece fit perfectly on the left inside edge!
