Mini Slimline Sympathy Card

I have a number of Slimline sized paper pads, so pulled them out and was flipping through them for some inspiration. This sunset print grabbed my attention so I pulled it out and decided to make a Mini Slimline Sympathy card for my stash.

The card base was made using navy card stock and that is also what I used to die cut the forest/trees from Stampin' Up's Grassy Grove bundle. Then I added a sympathy sentiment with thin foam tape.

Below is a peek at the inside, using a word stamp by Catherine Pooler and the trees from the Grassy Grove stamp set. I also added the trees to the envelope to tie everything together.

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - Glorious Sky Slimline Paper - Whimsy Stamps
Grassy Grove Bundle - Stampin' Up
Simple Strips Sympathy stamp and die - Taylored Expressions
Petite Scallop Mini Slim Stacklets - Taylored Expressions
Inside Out Sympathy - Catherine Pooler
Blending Brushes - Taylored Expressions

Scenic Holiday Card Duo in Purples

I will be making Christmas cards throughout the year and today I'm sharing this holiday card duo. I knew I wanted to use the deer dies included in the Grassy Grove bundle (Stampin' Up) with pretty scenic patterned paper and I'm happy with how they turned out.

The papers are 8" square, and my cards are 5 x 7". I saved the remaining patterned paper strips to use on Mini Slimline cards the next time I'm ready to make holiday cards. I stamped the sentiments right on the patterned paper, but since it is coated I had to let the ink dry for about 15 minutes to prevent it smearing.

The deer were cut from scraps of charcoal Stardream, which is a heavyweight pearlized cardstock. I bought a bunch of it many years ago and I'm still using it - because I save all but the tiniest pieces!

Inside I stamped some pine branches and a stamped sentiment.

Supplies used:
Patterned paper - Frosted Forests & Falling Flakes, Hunkydory
Coordinating solids - Frosted Christmas
Deer Dies - Grassy Grove Bundle
Sentiments:  Christmas Classics, Stampin' Up
Charcoal Stardream Card stock
Catherine Pooler inks

Lakeside Scene Birthday Card

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog!

Today I'm sharing another birthday card made using my Grassy Grove stamps & dies - this time I used scenic patterned paper to cut the forest piece and I loved the look!. I will be doing this again for sure.

Then I couldn't decide on what to put behind the die cut forest ... nothing seemed to look right. Finally I pulled out a stencil set from Crafters Companion and created a scene on white card stock using blending brushes and dye inks. One of the included stencils had the flying geese so I added them to the patterned paper layer, and a single goose on the stencilled panel. There was still room to stamp Happy Birthday in the center so I didn't need to add a fishtail banner or anything else to the card front. I matted the panel on cinnamon card stock then added it to a card base.

Inside are more stencilled birds above a stamped sentiment. I added the leftover strip from the patterned paper used on the front and then stamped the trees.

Supplies used:
Blending brushes - Taylored Expressions
Grassy Grove bundle - Stampin' Up
Happy Birthday Many Ways - Catherine Pooler
Catherine Pooler inks
Inside sentiment - At The Lake, Hero Arts
6.5 x 5" card base and envelope - Michaels

Deer In Forest Birthday Card

The Grassy Grove bundle (Stampin' Up) is a set that I added to my Wish List as soon as it came out. Every time a new catalogue arrived I would look at it and second guess myself before adding it to my order.  Finally, in October, I wondered what the problem was.  Did I want it because I would get a lot of use out of it or did I just like to look at cards that others made with it?

Once I figured out it was the former, I ordered it and I am SO happy I did! This was my first play with it and I have a page of other ideas in my notebook. It's going to be great for masculine cards for sure, and this one is going to our Brother In Law for his January birthday.

Below is a peek at the inside, using stamps from the Grassy Grove bundle and a sentiment by Catherine Pooler.
