Desert Themed Father's Day Card

I meant to share this card yesterday for Masculine Card Monday on my blog .. but time completely got away from me. 

I knew I wanted to use this SW themed patterned paper pad for hubby's card and when I was looking through my fun fold die sets I spied this Zig Zag die set. This time I reversed the way the circles fold though, with the back circle sliding over the front one and I was really happy with that. I'll do it again for sure.  The die makes the score lines at the same time it cuts and I just folded the left circle to the back and the right circle to the front. That gave me the overlapping effect. 

The decorative elements were die cut from another sheet of paper in the pad, and I also pulled out an older stamp set with some desert flora & fauna to stamp on the plainer pieces.

Autumn Greetings Zig Zag Card

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and I'm sharing a card made with a new die set - the Zig Zag Card Essential set by Studio Light. I was placing an order from Ecstasy Crafts and 'somehow' added a couple of new die sets to my shopping cart in addition to the Glitter Dots I was ordering. 😂. Since the die creates a fun fold card, it's also the September edition to my monthly series "New Fun Folds"  I have all the details in my YouTube video:

I like how the card folds up for mailing and this one fits in an A4 envelope (sized for a 4 x 6" photo), but if I didn't already have some I could easily make my own or size up to an A6 envelope.

Spring Cascade Card

One of the dies I received for my late February birthday was this Cascade Card die set. It's by Creative Crafts but they refer to it as a Zig Zag Stepper Card, ha ha. I had looked at it previously but when I saw it was on sale for a great price, I decided to buy it. I love a die set that comes with all the layering pieces! There were no directions or card samples on the Craft Stash US website, so I just sort of crossed my fingers.

It arrived with no instructions or guidance but I figured it would be fairly self explanatory - which it was.  I was mindful of the direction of both the dies and the papers so I wouldn't end up with upside down tulips on one side. But when I went to assemble it, it appears that the left panel should have been cut from the underside of the paper to get the tulip print to show.

Initially disappointed, I realized that it probably would have been too busy and using the softer print on the reverse side of the tulips made for a more pleasing card. I added the Giant Happy Spring (cut a couple of times from white cardstock so it would be sturdy) and some Pink Fresh Studio butterflies, then had to figure out what to put on the front.

Finally I opted for one of the layering dies and tulip paper for the left side, then I added one of Lawn Fawns layered butterflies. I adhered adhesive only along the outer butterfly sides so the card would still have movement. The other butterflies are stencilled and die cut (Pinkfresh Studios).

On the back side I added a stamped white panel (3 x 4") across both sides and another butterfly. While it's hard to see in the photo, I also added a strip of the tulip paper across the bottom of that white panel and one on the envelope flap. 

I know that most people would have made this from cardstock and used the included layers to add the patterned paper, but I wanted to try it this way with my first play. I'm quite happy with how it turned out and it stands nicely for display. It's also nice and lightweight and will mail for a single stamp!

We had been in Arizona and I was able to order from Craft Stash US ... but I don't know if they ship to Canada. I'm guessing that Canadians would order from their UK site? I'm set with new fun fold dies for several months now, so I won't be needing to find out! 😂

Anniversary Diagonal Trifold Card

Hello my crafty friends

Today I'm sharing a Diagonal Trifold card I made for friends celebrating their wedding anniversary.

I added gold gel pen detailing, including outlining each of the layering panels with a gold pen for some subtle shimmer. 

The 'Cheers!' was die cut three times and then they were stacked and adhered together giving me a nice sturdy element that also got some gold gel pen details.

This 'Z Fold die set comes with the layering dies, and I chose some older patterned paper from my stash to cut them from. 

I still love those Glitter Dot Peel Off's so sprinkled them around the card . They make great bubbles over the champagne glasses!

Coffee Themed Diagonal Trifold Card

Hello my crafty friends

Today I'm sharing a card for the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop! You can find all the details for the hop HERE. 

I used some retired patterned paper from Stampin' Up, along with fussy cut images from the papers. The word stamps are sure to make someone smile, and I added some sparkly Gum Drops as well.

This Z Fold Card with Layers die set is from Divinity Designs, but I am calling it a Diagonal Trifold Card. It's also referred to as a Zig Zag Card.  :-)

I think I will send this to our middle daughter, whose dealing with a toddler that is determined to make 3:30 am the start of her day. Yikes!

SMILE Diagonal Trifold Card

Today for Fun Fold Friday here on my blog,  I'm sharing a quick and easy Diagonal Trifold card using a die set by Divinity Designs with Pink & Main SMILE dies.

I had been looking through this paper stack for something else, and saw a partial 12 x 12" sheet that would work really well for this style of card. It's a great way to showcase beautiful papers - this has a nice gloss to it. Above is what the card would look like coming out of the envelope and below is likely how it will be displayed.

I wanted to add another sentiment but didn't want to distract from the scene that spreads across the panels.  I simply white embossed 'you're the best' on a fishtail banner and added it with foam tape and then I was happy.

There is lots of room on the back to write a note when it is time to give the card.

This one is going into the stash and will likely be hand delivered because of the bulk from the bling.

Birthday Balloon Diagonal 3 Panel Card

Hello my crafty friends

I haven't been buying very much the past four months, instead using the supplies I already have for my card making. I'm weary of being bombarded every single month with new releases from dozens of companies. You barely get to use what you may have purchased last month before they have all new goodies for you. AARRGGHH - enough!  However in August there were a couple of items that really appealed to me and this 'Z Fold Card" from Divinity Designs was one. I have been just deleting all the 'new release' emails that come in and not even going to look at my favourite companies to see what they have coming out. My teammate Frances Byrne is on the Divinity Designs Design Team, so I noticed her use the Z-Fold card on her blog and that made me sit up and take notice. I like to purchase dies that I can use for multiple occasions and this one certainly fits the bill.

It is not a typical Z Fold to me though, so I'm calling it a Diagonal Trifold Card. It could also be called a Zig Zag card! Either way, I am going to get a ton of use out of this die set and I especially like that they included the layering dies. Truth be told, that is the only reason I purchased the die set - I could have easily made the card base on my own.

This is the first card I made using the die set, and it was fun choosing paper scraps from this older patterned paper stack to use for the layers. Below is what the card would look like when it comes out of the envelope.

It is nice and stable when it stands for display, another one of my requirements. Which is why I rarely make top fold cards - I hate that they won't stand nicely for display!

Of course you can decorate all the panels if you choose but I kept this one fairly simple since the patterned paper has shiny embossed bits to it.

The greeting was stamped on a white stitched circle then popped up with foam tape.

It's hard to capture in photos, but below you can see how raised and shiny the patterned paper is.

The back of the card has a stamped verse, a layered balloon and lots of room to sign our names.

The dotted/string patterned paper is also embossed and shiny, as well as the pink dots on the balloons.

I have so many ideas for this die set!
