'Sending Good Vibes, Hugs and Lots of Happiness' Slimline Card

Hello my crafty friends ...

I'm on the Your Next Stamp Blog today, sharing a card that features the Whatnot Sentiments Fourteen stamp set that was part of the August Release. If you would like to see a YouTube video that shows the entire release, you can find that here:

I made a Slimline card that uses the new Slim Circle Panel Die, which is proving to be a favourite. I cut it from a subtle patterned paper then laid it over a busier paper from the same package. The heart is the solid die from the new Heart Stripe Die Set, and I also added one of the adorable Gnomes from the Happy Gnomies set. The Retro Gumdrops set had the perfect colours so I added some of them to the card front as well.

The words were stamped onto the two smallest dies in the Stitched Rectangle Die Set and popped up with foam tape. I really like that the sentiments in the set are separate stamps, so that allows you to combine them in fun ways. Here I have a sentiment on the front that says "Sending You Good Vibes" ...

... and inside the card the greeting continues with "Hugs and Lots of Happiness". The words inside were stamped after I used two of the dotted images from the new Dots & Shapes stamp set to create my own background pattern. Then I die cut the smallest Stitched Fishtail Banner from three scraps of the patterned paper and adhered them across the white panel. Both ends of the banner were trimmed even with the white panel so I was left with the stitching on the top and bottom edges only. A fun look and another way to stretch your dies.

I added two more Gum Drops from the Retro package, but decided I wanted a pink one as well and that came from the Perfect Blend package. This decorated white panel was then adhered to a stitched, scalloped rectangle inside the card and I was done.

Supplies:
Stitched Scallop Nesting Slimline Rectangles - Kat Scrappiness
Sakura white gel and black glaze pen
Wink of Stella
Copic markers
Glossy Accents
Card stocks - stash

Card size - 3.5 x 8.5", fits in a #10 Business Envelope

Halloween Slimline Flip Frame Pop Up

Hello crafty friends ...

Once I had the idea to create a clear frame with floating googly eyes, I had to get it made. I also used acetate to cut the pop up mechanism/arm and I have some tips for you in the YouTube video.

I'm proud of myself for using one of these skeleton stickers, which I've had in my stash for MANY years.

Since I went into such detail in my video, I won't go into a lot here on my blog. But I do have several photos for you and you can always click on one to open it larger in a new window.

I added Googly eyes to the ghost as well.

I like the BOO! that comes in the Halloween Elements so I cut it out of purple card stock and added highlights with a white gel pen and two more googly eyes.

Into my stash with this one!

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Halloween Night, Stampin' Up
Card Stocks
Acetate
Spider Web embellishment - American Crafts
Various Wiggly Eyes - stash
Printed elements - K & Company (old, from my stash)

Sakura black glaze and white gel pens
1055 Ovals Crosshatch - Karen Burniston

August Sheetload of Cards

Hello crafty friends ...

Today I'm sharing six cards I made to donate to my Mom's old nursing home. In early June, I stumbled upon Call Me {Crafty} Al's YouTube channel where she was sharing her June 2020 Sheetload of Cards. I was intrigued, watched her video and immediately subscribed and downloaded the template. I haven't actually used that one yet, but I loved her idea of using a sketch and patterned paper to make a set of coordinating cards. She provides the cutting and sketch templates for free but you do need to be a subscriber to her YouTube channel. It's well worth it - I promise!

I did use her July Sheetload of Cards to make other Birthday Cards to donate, but haven't shared those ones yet. If you follow my blog you know I donate 25 Birthday Cards each month to the nursing home and I rarely post things in the same order I make them.

These cards use Alicia's August Sheetload of Cards (isn't that name great??!) and for this one she gives the cutting guide for 6 x 6" patterned papers, vs the 12 x 12" cutting guides on previous ones. I pulled out an older package of papers and got to work.

As Alicia suggested, I chose two sets of three sheets of papers that I felt went well together from the package - six sheets in total. I really liked that I was able to use all six sheets with NO SCRAPS leftover. Here are the first three cards:

The card insides were all done the same, using my Mini MISTI for the stamping which made it go really quickly. I chose to fishtail some additional scraps from the package and added them to the inside for a pop of colour.

Below is the second set of cards. The stickers were in my stash and I adhered them to white card stock for stability then fussy cut and popped them up with foam tape.

My change to the sketch was to use this stitched sentiment strip die instead of adding the patterned paper strip to the bottom of the sentiment panel as shown in the sketch.

I had to stop myself from grabbing 6 more sheets of patterned paper and making 6 more cards right away. But I will be making more for sure - I really enjoyed this process and love having 6 fun Birthday Cards for the nursing home residents! I want the residents to feel special, so rarely include more than two cards the same in any given month. But these are all different enough to include together!

Supplies:

Bright Slimline 4 Panel Pop Up Card

Hello crafty friends ...

I have a video for you if you would like to see this card in action:

The inside piece was cut the same size as the card base, which was 7 x 8.5". Placing the 7" side at the top, I scored it at 1.75", 3.5" and 5.25". I did do a few extra folds but didn't measure those. HERE is a link to a similar A2 card - easy enough to do the same thing with this larger panel. I don't like math, so rarely actually measure when I'm doing cards like this - eyeballing works great for me!

That is also why I cut the inside panel the same size as the black card base. It's easier to measure, score and cut when the measurements are the same. Once I was ready to adhere it inside the card base I trimmed a little off the sides, top and bottom so I had an even border all the way around. If specific dimensions are important to you, I'd suggest making a template that you can then write down the measurements on it and keep it for future projects.

I added some border Peel Off stickers and punched balloons, as well as a signing block with a handwritten sentiment.

Here is another view where you can see the folds a little better.

Supplies:
Card stocks - stash
Patterned paper - Scrapbook Customs
Embossed Edge Nesting Die - Kat Scrappiness
Bold Happy Birthday Word Die Set - Your Next Stamp
Balloon punch - Stampin' Up
White paint pen
Border Peel Off - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Black Fineline Marker
Puffy Dots - Pebbles
Sakura white gel pen

Card size - 3.5 x 8.5", fits in a #10 Business Envelope

Flowers and Butterfly 'Hello' Card

Hello crafty friends ...

If you follow my blog you know I donate 25 Birthday cards each month to my Mom's old nursing home. I don't share a lot of them on my blog, simply because there are so many I'd never get to share my more detailed or pop up cards! I have been busy making the September and October nursing home donation cards and when I went to check my blog post for today I realized I didn't have a card to share! Yikes - that hardly ever happens.

I do have several blog posts already scheduled though, so I did some re-arranging and here I am with my Hello card.

This card was made of mostly leftovers! The card base itself is a larger card & envelope from Michaels, that I had lightly stencilled for a card and didn't end up using. When I opened the drawer to grab one of these larger cards, it was sitting on the top and I realized the colours would be perfect for my finished floral panel. That made me happy.

I used this lovely rose stencil to create a background on a card I haven't shared yet, and when I went to clean the stencil I put a rectangle of white card stock under it and wiped the colour off with a damp cloth. That gave me this pretty 'second generation' stencilled background to use on this card! Love getting two backgrounds 'for the price of one'.

I used this pretty stamp set from Stampin' Up along with the coordinating punch so the 'hello' is popped up with foam tape. A layered vellum butterfly is on the top right and I added some holographic stickers for a bit of sparkle.

Looks like I neglected to take a photo of the inside, but I did add patterned paper and another large white panel to write a note on when I go to send the card.

Supplies:
Various card stocks
1054 Rectangle Crosshatch - Karen Burniston
Chalks - Stampin' Up & Q-Tip
Accented Blooms Stamp - Stampin' Up
Tailored Tag Punch - Stampin' Up
Taylored Expressions Blending Brushes

Dashing Rectangle Dies - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Card and Envelope - Michaels
Vellum
Butterfly Punch - Martha Stewart
Holographic circle stickers - Dazzles
Stencil - Bouquet of Roses, Simon Says Stamp
Other stencils - unknown

Slimline Gift Card Holder

Hello crafty friends ...

The Fun Friday Challenges come with two chances to win prizes!!
Comment on the YNS BlogInstagram or Facebook pages for a chance to win a free stamp set. Comment on all three to increase your chances, but comments must be left by August 26th 2020. The winner will be announced on August 28th on the YNS Blog.

More details about the prizes at the end of my post.

I started my card with black card stock because I wanted the contrast with the rainbow stamping on the Slimline panel. The Slim Striped Panel Die was cut from white matt coated card stock. After cutting I applied strips of double sided tape on the back side so I could keep everything together without any of the stripes falling away. I wrapped teal seam binding around towards the left side which helps break up all the horizontal lines.

Then I pulled out the long image from the Painted Shapes and stamped on each one of the stripes in rainbow colours of dye ink. The sentiment from Positive Affirmations was white heat embossed on a black die cut circle, and adhered  with foam tape. Then, for the DECORATIONS part of the challenge, I added lots of Gumdrops and a seam binding bow.

Inside I created a Gift Card Holder using the bottom portion of the Slim Striped Panel Die to create a pocket. After cutting the white panel and wrapping it with rainbow striped Washi Tape from my stash, I added some lettering and stamped hearts from both the Painted Shapes and Positive Affirmations.

To avoid the gift card catching on the open stripes, I backed the pocket with acetate. That also gave me a place to add yet another Gumdrop. I do love Your Next Stamp's Gumdrops!

Then I made a mistake. Well, not really a mistake but I tried something I wish I hadn't. I added narrow strips of foam tape around the sides and bottom of the gift card pocket and adhered it inside the card. Normally I suggest using wet glue for this, as dry adhesives such as tapes lift a little from the width of the gift card and it can get stuck in the adhesive.

That isn't the issue with the foam tape - the issue is that the gift card is loose and flops around. So when I go to gift this, I will be sure to use a piece of the same Washi Tape to secure the gift card inside the pocket. Next time I make a Gift Card Holder, I'll be going back to using just wet glue.

I hope you enjoyed my Design Team project and I've inspired you to make a few Gift Card Holders for your stash!

The Fun Friday Challenge #146 runs through September 3rd 2020 at midnight EST. One random participant will win a $15 gift certificate to the Your Next Stamp store.  If YNS stamps or dies are the focal point then the winner receives an additional $5 gift certificate for a total of $20!!  The winner will be announced on the YNS Blog the Sunday after the challenge closes. 'Happy BEE-Day!' Pop 'n Swap Card

Hello crafty friends ...

Today's card features these cute bee images from Studio Katia, and Karen Burniston's new Pop 'n Swap die set! All the details are in my YouTube video below:

As the card opens, the bee that you see through the window from the card front disappears behind the honeycomb and the second bee appears below it. So fun!

I added a few more hexagons around the card for some more colour, and we can sign our name on the large white half hexagon at the bottom right.

I waited a long time for these bees to come back into stock - they are very popular! I also picked up the Studio Katia  Honeycomb Shaker die at the same time. Looking forward to making a shaker card with it soon!

Now I do have a larger die cutting machine that accommodates this larger card size, to die cut the window. Alternatively you could use a punch or make a similar A2 sized card as the Pop 'n Swap fits in an A2 card (4.25 x 5.5").

This card is going into my stash - I love having a few special Birthday Cards ready in case I need one quickly.

Supplies:
MISTI - My Sweet Petunia
Honey Bees (stamps and dies) - Studio Katia
1133 Pop 'n Swap - Karen Burniston

Flip Frame Pop Up Anniversary Card

Hello crafty friends ...

Today's card uses the new Flip Frame Pop Up die set by Karen Burniston and some older patterned paper from my stash. I love this sweet scalloped heart die set from Studio Katia, and it was the perfect decoration for my card front!

Below is the card laying open. I reversed the folds on the arm so the frame would be on the right side, and I added another scalloped heart to the left side. The Happy Anniversary is also one of Karen Burniston's new dies.

Glossy Accents make the champagne nice and shiny!

Patterned paper - Life's Journey, K & Company (old, from my stash)

'Sending You Kindness Confetti' Slimline Card

Hello crafty friends

Yay - today is the day that the NEW RELEASE goes live at Your Next Stamp! I hope you have enjoyed the previews the Design Team has been sharing all week on the YNS Blog. I have another card to share today and once again I made a Slimline card.

I'd like to let you know that we are celebrating this new release with an Instagram Hop!  The YNS August New Release Instagram Hop starts at 11 am EDT on 8/18/2020. Join us for your chance to win one of the three $20 gift certificates to the Your Next Stamp Store!!! The IG hop starts at YNS' Instagram page and continues on... find them on IG @yournextstamp

Also, I have a YouTube video for you that goes over the whole new release!!

The Falling Confetti is going to be a fun stamp set for many different occasions - Birthday's, Graduation, New Years, even for a Wedding! But there are some great sentiments included that make this stamp set even more versatile, so my card today is one I made to send out for Happy Mail.

After stamping the largest Confetti stamp at the top and bottom of my Kraft panel, I heat embossed the images with a blue and a green sparkly embossing powder.

The sentiment was stamped with an old rainbow ink pad onto a Stitched White Fishtail Banner, but since the ink pad is old it was also fairly dry. I pulled out my Chameleon Fineliner markers, which allow you to write or draw with different colours simply by swapping the marker tops. I went over the stamped greeting with three marker caps and one marker and was very happy with the final result. The Fishtail Banner was adhered at an angle, trimming off both ends.

The Heart Stripe Die Set is also one of the new sets in the release, I cut it three times from glittered card stock - once from green, once from blue and once from white. Then I alternated the pieces onto three card stock hearts which were die cut with the second die in the Heart Strip Die Set. I only used one of the sparkly hearts on my card today, but I have two left for future projects!

I added three white sparkly Gum Drops then popped the panel up onto the Kraft card base with foam tape.

Inside, I heat embossed the Falling Confetti once more at the top of the white panel. I die cut the heart shaped window below that and backed it with a transparency piece for some shine. The Marvellous Day is from the new Hammie Happy Birthday stamp set, and it was stamped onto a YNS Stitched Fishtail Banner. Then I added three sparkly blue Gum Drops.

I stamped the smaller confetti image along the back flap and on the left side of the Kraft #10 Business Envelope using Distress Oxide inks.
