Cupcake Fold-Its Birthday Card

Good morning friends

I am enjoying making shaped cards these days, so wanted to share one I made to donate to my Mom's nursing home. This one uses the Cupcake Fold-Its die set by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix and papers from my stash.

With this die set you have the option of die cutting some dots for sprinkles, and I chose to cut them out of the icing piece and added glitter glue inside each one for some shimmer and shine.

For the back of the card, I die cut the shadow again and scored it across the top back and added my adhesive above the score line. I like how sturdy this makes these shaped cards and they stand up really well for display.

Mouse and Flowers Thank You Lever Card

Good morning friends

For some reason this year, I just could not get into Autumn themed colours or cards. I'm just craving bright and happy colours, so when I needed to make a Thank You card I pulled out this sheet of patterned paper. I also grabbed the Lever Card die set and Lever Card Layering dies from Our Daily Bread Designs.

The panel with the Thank You pivots from the front to the inside when the card is opened.

I added the cute mouse from Karen Burniston's Christmas Animals, the flower from the Upsy Daisy Pop-Up die set, and a stitched cloud from the Outdoor Scene set. The Thank You is also from Karen Burniston and is one I get a lot of use out of.

I trimmed the right leaf off of the flower stem so it would fit better in between the mouse's paws, and also had to trim off the tail and rearrange it so that it would fit on the card panel without sticking out.

I can write my message on the white Fishtail banner area, which I matted with turquoise and added some Bakers Twine at the top edge.

Rustic Animal Birthday Cards

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I wanted to share a couple of birthday cards I made to donate to my Mom's nursing home.

I have had these PSX stickers for many years, so I pulled them out and adhered them to white card stock before cutting them out. The stitched journal cards were also in my stash - I cut out a whole stack of them from various patterned paper stacks a few years ago and keep forgetting to go through them for card layers. Which is why I cut them in the first place!

Dog House Row Pop-Up Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is a card I made for a challenge at Split Coast Stampers, which was to make a thank you card for a rescue group who had gone above and beyond when a hurricane hit the Carolinas in the US.  Of course I had to jump in on the challenge! On the home front, our own Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) had put out a call for donations and help as they were at their capacity with more animals needing help.

My thought is that anybody who helps out animals in distress is a hero and it doesn't matter what country you are in. So hubby pulled out a little used kennel from our garage and drove it to AARCS to donate and I made a cash donation to them to tuck into this card.

Here is the card front, using a Cut Apart from an Echo Park paper package. Such a true quote, right?

Inside I used Karen Burniston's new House Pivot Panels, turning the houses into a row of dog houses.  I thought that was fitting for a rescue organization!

Finally here is a top view of the way a Pivot Panel looks inside a card. Whenever I give someone a Pivot Panel card they turn it to view it from the top, so that is why I took this shot. :-)

C4C 461 Sketch Holiday Card

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. Our November hostess is Joanne Grzelak and since it's the third Saturday of the month Joanne has a sketch for us this week:

I picked up a new 6 x 6" Paper pad, so used it for my holiday card today. I don't often purchase 6 x 6" pads as I prefer the full 12 x 12" ones. You should have seen me at Michaels, trying to decide which size of this patterned stack to buy - I had them both in and out of my shopping cart several times. Finally decided that I really only loved about half of the patterns, so went with the 6 x 6" version.

This is the first time I used my new Scalloped Card Drop-Ins die set by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix, and of course I didn't use it as intended. The die set comes with a smaller scalloped portion for the card front but I really wanted a full A2 sized scalloped card. I folded my white card stock in half then placed the scalloped card back die at the fold line and ran it through my Big Shot. That gave me an A2 scalloped card base and the scallops line up perfectly when the card is closed. YAY - I'm going to get a lot of use out of this die set as it's quite versatile!

The patterned paper has lovely coppery foiled bits so I added metallic sequins for some additional holiday bling. The wreath was fussy cut from one of the cut-parts in the paper stack and that gave me my circle for the sketch.

Since the borders are a full 6" wide, I trimmed the greeting one down as close to the words as I could, then popped it up on another border from the sheet. It is wider than the card though, so this will have to go into a slightly larger envelope than an A2.

I added another printed panel inside the card along with another foiled border strip, and a stamped panel for the greeting.

Autumn Leaves Flip-It Thank You Card

Good morning friends

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog, and today's share is an Autumn themed Thank You Flip-It card.  The fancy edge circle Flip-Its die by Stephanie Barnard is exclusive to the Stamps of Life and I really like how the edge dresses up an A2 card. The patterned paper has lovely sparkly bits in it and I added some sequins too!

The large Thank You die is from Karen Burniston's newest release and since I'm making so many Thank You cards these days it's coming in very handy. It's a nice big size and cuts as a single piece which makes it easy to adhere to your project.

The sprig punch is by Stampin' Up, and I added the maple leaf from Karen Burniston's Autumn Elements, swiping it with a gold glitter brush pen.

Two Panda Birthday Cards

Good morning friends

I'm sharing more Panda Birthday Cards, created with a Stampin' Up set I got last Spring during Sale-a-Bration. Most of the Panda cards I made went to our daughters for the grands to take to Birthday Parties, but these two went into my Nursing Home donation bag. I think they are nice and cheery for the residents.

I did a little water colour wash around the Panda's to make them stand out from the white background a little more.

Grateful For You Thanksgiving Card

Good morning friends

I love using this Stampin' Up Label Punch with scraps of patterned paper to create a background. It is a little time consuming, but very satisfying!

I have a 12 x 12" sheet of fall themed stickers that I am bound and determined to use it up and not store for another year, and I was able to use a couple of the smaller pieces on this card. Love that cute little hedgehog sticker! In fact, I pretty much love everything by Doodlebug Designs.  There was a gold heart on my stamping table, so I added it to the 'grateful for you' sticker for a little bling.

White Christmas Tree Pop-Up Card, Paper Pro's Challenge

It's time for the Paper Pro's challenge, and this month the theme is "Holiday Cards". Ever since I saw Paul Peterson's lovely card on the Karen Burniston Pop-Up Peeps Face Book page I've wanted to make a white Pop-Up Christmas tree. That is what I used for my card today, but first here is the outside:

The patterned paper has gold and champagne foiled prints and it just shines when it catches the light. I added some additional gold details with the crosshatch vertical border, punched sprig and die cut Merry Christmas then added gold Glitter Dots as well.

Here is the card inside, with that pretty white tree.

I also added some borders from the Outdoor Scene, cutting them from white then dabbing on white glimmer paint on just the deer and tree portion. I used the same paint on the Pop-Up Christmas Tree pieces before assembling, because I tried to finger dab the paint through the stencil feature on the dies and had myself a big mess. I should have just used a sponge dauber to start with!

I added a gold embossed sentiment to the left side of the card, being careful that it was positioned so it wouldn't be a catch point for the tree. The Outdoor Scene borders were adhered directly to the card inside for the same reason and the card opens and closes smoothly.

I added a lot of gold glitter dots to my white pearlized tree.

It's amazing that this card folds completely flat for mailing, and will only need a single stamp. Since there was very little dimension other than the Pop-Up tree, I added foam tape under the front greeting rectangle. You don't want to add too much foam tape on the card front though, as then it doesn't lay flat open for display.

Birthday Card Duo for Boys

Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and I have a pair of birthday cards to share that are perfect for boys!

There is just something about Raquel's September 2018 Sketch #452 at the Crazy4Challenges Blog that really appeals to me, so I've used it again here for my cards. I had participated in a Stampin 'Up Paper Share last year, so went through those 6 x 6" papers and came across two prints that would work well, then pulled out this Happy Birthday Die by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix.
