Eight Blue & Yellow Birthday Cards

I don't usually post cards on weekends anymore, but I have been creating a lot of Birthday Cards lately and wanted to share these ones instead of hanging onto the photos for weeks. My nursing home donation cards were depleted and I like to have at least one month done ahead. I've been taking advantage of different Sheetload of Cards to help me build up a few months worth of cards and last week I took them their 25 cards for August. Once I have a stash built up I will be happier, so I'll be sharing a lot of birthday cards this month. In fact, it will likely be a record month for me but I won't have to keep up this pace as my stash will be well supplied. Then it's easy to make a couple of cards here and there to keep it up.

These were made using another of my favourite Sheetloads - the June 2021 and I have it linked below if you would like to try your hand at it. Such an efficient way to use your patterned papers and create a bunch of cards at once. ❤️

The 6x6" patterned papers are very old and were part of a 6x6" paper share from my then Stampin' Up demonstrator. I had worked hard to USE IT UP earlier this year, so the pieces were all cut and in a bag ready for me to assemble the cards. I found them when poking around in my 'In Progress' bin so grabbed my cardstocks and finished them off.

Having been asked how many cards I make I thought it would be fun to keep track this year. Many of my posts include more than a single card or project and below is my tally.

Card Tally for 2023
January - 53 cards
February - 56 cards
March - 55 cards
April - 32 cards
May - 43 cards
June - 34 cards
July - 56 cards
August so far - 48 cards

I decided to cancel the subscription that provided linked thumbnails to what products I used on my cards. It was costing me out of pocket each month, so I’m back to listing what I used.

Thanksgiving Magic Iris Card

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog! This is the 8th edition to my monthly series "Magic Iris Cards" and I decided to make a Thanksgiving card. I am not trying to hurry Autumn along - Summer is my favourite season - but I am going to need some Thanksgiving cards. In the first photo above, the shutter is closed.

When you slide the arrowed tab down towards the bottom the card, the shutters open to reveal  a circle sticker that reads Happy Thanksgiving. I used a circle punch to line up where the notch is on the Magic Iris panel then finished the trimming with scissors. I find that makes it a little easier to get your fingers around that pull tab.

Inside I added a stamped panel that has washi tape on the top and bottom edge as well as a stamped greeting.

Ice Cream Shaped Slimline Card

For the 8th edition to my monthly series Shaped Cards, I created a Slimline sized Ice Cream Sundae card! I will be putting this one away until next July when I send the family their ice cream cards - this year I was scrambling as Summer can get busy. So now I will be ahead of the game!I have had these two ice cream sets (Stamps of Life) for years, and I'm still getting good use out of them. This is the first time I've created a shaped card with them though!

I took a 4-1/4" folded card base, and lined up the sundae dish on the top fold. Then I slid that top edge just over the fold, so everything would cut but that top edge which would remain as a fold. That gave me a top folding sundae dish shaped card. 😊

Then I stamped another sundae dish on rainbow striped paper and die cut it out, adhering it to the shaped card base. Because I used dies for this - they lined up perfectly! The ice cream scoops were stamped and die cut from some patterned paper and I inked the edges for definition. Once they were glued on top of each other, I added some sequins.

Finally, after the card was done I decided to add a spoon from Karen Burniston's Ice Cream die set. That was cut from silver mirror card stock. The sentiment inside was hand written with coloured pens.

Thinking it would help the card stand better, I trimmed off a narrow strip from the inside bottom edge as you can see in the photo. Not sure if that really was necessary but the card does stand for display!

First Group of Birthday Cards

I was poking around in my stash for some bright patterned paper to make more birthday cards for my Mom's old nursing home. I found these cut-aparts/journal cards which I had completely forgotten about!  I had purchased them back in February and had trimmed them from the 12 x 12" sheet. Ooooooh! I found some coordinating paper, matted each of the cut-aparts and made a bunch of cards.

A BUNCH.

Today I'm sharing the first of them, and it's a big group. Since you know I never post cards in the same order I make them, these are actually the last group I made, using leftover patterned paper from the others. 😊  I kept the layout simple for these ones, adding one of those leftover  patterned paper strips onto the card bases, mounting the matted cut-aparts with foam tape. Simple, but fun and cheerful!

Most of these ones are singles (there are a couple of duplicates) so I can donate all of them in a single month. In the card below, I added a glittery stamped dog from my embellishment binder. The dog is from Paper Smooches, but sadly they are no longer in business. The cut-apart just needed a little something and I was happy to have found that dog in there.

I also added some glitter (Stickles and Pops of Color) so the cut-aparts have some birthday sparkle.

I think the residents will get a kick out of these bright and cheery cards.

I'll be back next week with another (much smaller) group of cards made with more of the cut-aparts.

August 2023 Sheetload of Cards

I am in love with the August 2023 Sheetload of Cards and I can say it's my new favourite! I always know it's a great Sheetload when I want to make another set right after completing my first one. For this one though? I hadn't even assembled the pieces before I was rooting around for more papers to cut up. I have a set of Doodlebug papers & borders cut for a Thanksgiving set and some cheerful rainbow Christmas trees cut for holiday cards. You can see all the details of these Birthday Cards in my YouTube video:

I thought the greeting would be cute on a die cut cloud, so that is what I did for the first four cards.

The next four cards have the striped paper as the diagonal strip and I wanted something more than just a cloud. Adding a die cut sun was just what I was going for and these cards make me HAPPY.

I added the same sentiment inside all eight of the cards and these ones are ready to go to my Mom's old nursing home. I am going to cut a bunch more from different papers to have ready to assemble, as this Sheetload goes together SO quickly! 😊

Mini Slimline Birthday Trio

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog. Last month I shared a group of cards using this 6x6" patterned paper and showed in the video that I only had three strips left until I had used up the whole pad. Well - here are the three cards I made with those leftover strips!

I added some coordinating card stock strips from my scrap bin, then added this fun elephant (Your Next Stamp). The cakes and eyes are raised and shiny because I added Nuvo Glaze to them. Below you can see the inside of the cards which are all the same. These cards will also be donated to my Mom's old nursing home.

Flip-Its Birthday Card with Butterflies

Blogger blocked me publishing this post because of a Community Guildline violation. WTH? It's a GREETING CARD with butterflies.  Anyhow, I went to check and see what they could possibly have an issue with and when I tried to edit an underlined phrase (I mean, what else could it be????) the entire post disappeared.  So I have requested a review and will wait and see what happens.  EDIT:  Blogger has 're-evaluated' my post and allowed it to publish, so I'm going to write it out again. But it's going to be really short, as I want to get on with my day instead of re-writing my nice long post.

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today's share is uses a Flip-It's die set - with a twist. This is the Diamond Flip-It's Plus and it has an extra panel that is hidden when the card is closed.

Below you can see the card fully open with all three panels.

I have been a fan of the Flip-It's die sets since they first came out MANY years ago. When Stephanie Barnard released this one last year, I had to add it to my collection.

Set of Nine Dog Themed Cards!

I used some premade elements, patterned paper and coordinating washi tape to create nine dog themed cards for my stash. I didn't photograph them all together though, but in groups. Oh, and I made some bookmarks from the leftovers as well. 😊.  The card on the top right, with the doggie in the window, is actually a pop up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop Up. You can see the inside with a pop up heart in the photo below.

I also have a walkthrough of my cards on YouTube:

I really enjoyed creating these cards, just sitting down and playing with the journal cards and ephemera pieces. No pressures, deadlines, using whatever appealed to me at the moment - just the joy of creating.

I just loved this water coloured look WOOF cut-apart so actually made two cards using it, but added a different dog element to each one.

Our eldest grandson (11 years) is going to come and stay here next week to help me out with some chores & dog walking. I have mobility issues because of my Rheumatoid Arthritis and there are some things that I find too difficult including getting down on my knees. Truthfully, that is too painful to even attempt! We plan on paying him for his efforts, but we aren't going to tell him beforehand. He is such a thoughtful kid, he is happy to come and help - and get a break from his little brother. We will put the $$ in one of these cards to give him, and I have already sent a couple off for Happy Mail with a note written inside.

Paisley Sympathy Card

Today I'm sharing another sympathy card I made that started with these pretty card & envelopes from Stampin' Up. I thought the subtle pattern on the card fronts was perfect for a sympathy card and the envelopes have gold foiling on them!

I added some dimensional paisley stickers from my stash, and a stamped oval to the front.

Inside is the verse on a layered oval and an additional sticker. I also sprinkled some flat gem stickers on both the front and inside to tie in the gold foiling on the envelope.

One more look - you can better see all the dimension and gold foiling on the stickers.

First Birthday Wiper Card

I have been getting good use out of the 5x7" Wiper die set that I got for my (February) Birthday. I hadn't done much purchasing in several months, so when Craft Stash had a great sale, I used my Birthday $$ from the family to get several interactive dies. 😊

This one was decorated with some sparkly patterned paper from my stash, and a bunch of Doodlebug elements. I added sparkle to most of the elements with Stickles. The die cut sentiment along the bottom edge came with the Wiper Die set.

When you pull on the sides, the little kitty & balloons pop up and into view.

Below is the back of the card, where I added the verse and a few more embellishments.
