Birthday Card for Diego

Last week we went to a friends house to celebrate their dog's NINETEENTH birthday! Of course I had to bring Diego a card for his birthday 😊.

Once again I used one of those rainbow dog note cards, trimmed to fit on the front of an A2 sized card that was matted with patterned paper. I used the same paper and an alphabet die set (Karen Burniston) to spell out his name. After laying out out all the pieces, I decided to add a strip of confetti printed patterned paper behind the rainbow dog one and add layered hearts.

Pop Up Card for Passover

If you follow me you know I rarely post things in the same order I make them. This card was probably the 2nd card I made with Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up, but I didn't want to share it in the winter and saved it for closer to Easter/Passover.

I used the Tree Pop Up on the front of the card. After die cutting the tree foliage from a floral patterned paper then outlined each of the leaves with a fine tipped marker. The clouds are from the cloud punch by Stampin' UP and I added some penned dash/dot lines with a fine tipped marker for definition.

This is the inside - with a stamped sentiment on layered stitched circles mounted on the Twist Flower Pop Up. I used a couple of other dies by Karen Burniston and they are listed below.

I love all the lift you get with the Twist Flower Pop Up and how versatile that die set is!

March '24 Sheetload of Cards

Today I'm sharing these cards made with the March 2024 Sheetload of Cards and I have all the details on YouTube:  

Two of the 12x12" papers have sparkly bits embedded, and the other is a large sunburst completely glittered! 

I used leftover cardstock scraps for the Birthday Wishes which were backed with Rainbow Holographic Cardstock. I love the shine that gives!

The cards all have a white panel inside, with a striped paper strip and I used different coloured inks depending on what colour ink looked best with each card.

Six Birthday Cards for Donating

I pulled out a Project Life kit and decided to use several of the 4x6" journal cards to make some birthday cards for donating to the nursing home. Several years ago I picked up several Project Life kits for a great deal, knowing I would use them for cards like this ... but I keep forgetting about them! (Project Life kits contain both 4x6" and 3x4" journal cards for pocket scrapbooking.)

I made three floral cards and three more masculine ones with Stampin' Up's Truckin' Along stamp & punch. The cards are all 6x4" and some have narrow gold foil tape for a little shine. Other's have Stickles glitter glue on them.

Rainbow Dog Birthday Card Duo

I'm back today with a pair of cards using those rainbow dog note cards I've been playing with lately.( I have a YouTube video sharing about those note cards HERE.)  For these two I cut the front from the back of the note cards then trimmed the fronts down to 3.75 x 5". 

Those panels were popped up on some confetti printed note cards I've had for YEARS! I added stamped sentiments matted with rainbow holographic cardstock and those were also popped up with foam tape. 

I added a little Nuvo Glaze to the dogs and then a stamped panel inside.  Apparently I didn't take a photo of the insides.

Initially I made these for my nursing home donations but I think I might end up keeping them for my stash. They just make me happy!

'Sending Love & Hugs' Pop Up Card

Today I'm sharing the 14th card made with Paper Roses BEE HAPPY Cardmaking Kit. This one is a 7x5" Pop Up card and I have a walkthrough on YouTube:   

The gold foiled bee stickers were attached to white card stock then fussy cut so I could pop them up with foam tape. I added some colour with alcohol markers and stamped the For You on the paper panel. The panel was trimmed from the 6x6" sheet to measure 4x6" then matted with black card stock

Inside I used Karen Burniston's Little Label Pop Ups and the last large ephemera piece from the kit (the sunflowers) . The upper sentiment stamp and punch are from Stampin' Up - since this card was mailed to a friend who wasn't feeling well.

One more look which shows the pop up a little better.

Slimline Cocktail Birthday Card

When I was flipping through this slimline paper pad, I saw the cocktail panel and decided to make it into a birthday card for a friend. I cut it down, then added it to another patterned panel from the package. The background piece was adhered to the slimline card base without trimming it down. 

I added some glitter dots above the cocktails, then die cut Karen Burniston's CHEERS! from rainbow holographic cardstock. I added a couple of fishtail banners using the same holographic cardstock and popped those up with foam tape.

Below is the inside of the card, with a closeup photo below that. 😊

I cut the scalloped circle from the same Rainbow Holographic cardstock as I used on the front, then used the stitched circle to die cut the stamped sentiment. The sentiment is a Funnybones stamp from Riley & Company.

Last week I shared a pop up card using one of these rainbow dog note cards and I liked the teal & black matting so much I used them again for these three 5x7" cards. I am having so much fun with these note cards by cutting them down and adding stamping etc.

This first card has a humorous sentiment on the front and on the inside. I added plaid washi tape for some colour on the inside too.

Cake & Candles Pop Up Card

I have my set up for 'card photo & videos' on our dining room table - but we were having houseguests for the week and I knew we'd be eating our meals in there. So I had to take it all down, but then had to scramble to take photos of this card. 

I made it for a friend - I had already made her a special card that has disappeared into the universe somewhere. When I went to get it ready to add with her gift - I couldn't find it ANYwhere. Sheesh. I made her another one and if I ever find the first - I'll be ahead for next year. 😂

I took these photos outside - but the holographic cardstock just doesn't show up like it does under my camera set up. The front features a scalloped oval stamped with a birthday cake & sentiment. It was popped up with foam tape then I cut the daisy row several times from Karen Burniston's Twist Flower Pop Up using Rainbow Holographic cardstock. I tucked the daisy's under the scalloped oval, trimming the extra daisy's as needed. Oh, how I wish you could see the shine from those daisy's!

My card base started as a 12 x 5" piece of teal card stock, scored down the centre at 6". That gave me a 6 x 5" folded card. For my first play with Karen Burniston's Birthday Candle Add Ons, I decided to try adding it directly inside my card. It is intended to work with the Fancy Label Accordion (which looks REALLY cool) but I knew I had to try it this way at least once. I do love to share different ways and looks you can get from your dies, since they are an investment.

In the photo below, you can see the score line on the left side of the Add-On. (You can click on a photo to open it up in a separate window if you wish to see them larger.) I scored it on each side, right on the end of the curve then worked all the folds of the Birthday Candle Add On so it would work easily inside the card. 

Opening the card up flat and lining up the center score lines of both the card and the Add On, I added glue to the outside of those two score lines and adhered them inside the card keeping those centre fold lines lined up. I did let the glue set for a minute or two before I re-worked the folds and then I could decorate the Add On piece. I like that it opens up flat for adding the candles & decorating or you could get those added after you've worked the folds and before you adhere it inside your card.

Since I wanted a little more sparkle, I added more of the rainbow holographic daisy's behind the Add On and Stickles glitter glue to the candle flames. The lines and dots on the candles were drawn over with a Sakura Stardust pen for subtle shimmer.  I added borders on each side & from the Border Blends Trims die set (Karen Burniston). The sentiments were stamped and punched out before adding to the card then I added a few more of the leftover daisy's. The larger daisy's were trimmed from the daisy border - easy peasy.

People always turn this type of card over to view it from the top - so here is a photo showing that view!

Six Silhouette Birthday Cards

Welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog!

Late last summer I was placing an order from R&R Scrapbooking in Edmonton and started poking around the website. I saw this Little Book of Sporting Silhouettes and knew they would make great birthday cards both for the nursing home and our family too. I already had the Little Book of Bees, and the Little Book of Dogs - as well as a farm themed one so this package practically jumped into my online cart. Ha.

The cards are 4x6" - I trimmed down the panels a little then mounted them to a slightly larger black mat before adhering to the card bases. The Happy Birthday was popped up with foam tape and then I stamped a sentiment inside the cards. 

All in all these were quick and easy to create but I like how they look. There I just something about silhouette's that is appealing to me these days.
