Heart Background Card Duo

Hello my crafty friends. I love heart dies. Many years ago I had to make myself stop buying any more heart stamps, ha ha. (That's why I love that Karen Burniston adds so many little hearts into her die sets!)  Today's card duo started out with Studio Katia's Scalloped Hearts background die, which I have had for a year or so. I already had the Studio Katia Circle background die so when I saw this one, it was a no brainer. 😊 I die cut it from a red mirrored card stock - more to see how it looked than anything else, and I was happy with how well it cut and the shimmer and shine. 

I cut it again from red pearl card stock and adhered both backgrounds to white card bases. I added the narrow heart outlines from the foiled background into the heart openings on the red one to give it some sparkle and shine, & all the hearts were popped up with thin foam tape. Then it was time to decorate them - I wanted them to be 'Non Valentine' Valentines - ones I could send to friends for Happy Mail in February.

The flower and hearts are older embellishments, and the Hugs (with shadow) is by Karen Burniston.  It's a great word set that can be used year round - I'm always up for sending hugs, especially in these times of 'social distancing'.  Of course I added my new mirrored heart sequins from Kat Scrappiness!  

I left lots of room inside to write a note, but if I want to add a Valentine greeting I still can.

Sending Love Heart Collage Pop Up Slimline

 

Good morning crafty friends - today the Design Team can start to share their projects with Karen Burniston's NEW RELEASE! We've been having so much fun! For my first card I'm sharing a Slimline card that has new dies on the front and inside, and I have a walkthrough of  my card on YouTube:

Inside my card is the new Heart Collage Pop Up. This die goes together similar to the Photo Collage Pop Up, but it is Slimline Friendly (YAY!!!) and the mechanism cuts as a single piece. AND there are expanding hearts, which is very cool. AND there are add on sets - the Butterfly Collage Add-On and the Balloon Collage Add-On. Both of them work with the mechanism from the Heart Collage Pop Up. 😊 

Check out those expanding hearts that add even more movement to your card.

There is a new Crosshatch set as well - the Hearts Crosshatch, which I used under the Love You greeting.  I did size this Slimline card at 8 x 3.5", instead of my usual 8.5 x 3.5" but it still fits nicely in a #10 business envelope for mailing.

The Design Team will be sharing sneak peeks this week, and celebrating with a Blog Hop on Monday January 24th when the New Release will start shipping!

'Hello' Circle Charm Pop Up Card

Hello my crafty friends! It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today I'm sharing a card made with Karen Burniston's Circle Charm Pop Up. This is another die that I get a lot of use out of - the decoration on the card front pivots to the inside as the card is opened. If you check the labels on the right side of my blog (web version, not mobile version) you will see there are two dozen different cards made using this die set since it was released! The only new items I used on my card today are the mirrored heart sequins - everything else has been in my craft room for 6 months or longer. The sequins are my new favourite embellishment, as you may have noticed. As soon as I added that first one to my card, I immediately ordered 2 more packages. Ha. Rainbow Bridge Mini Slimline Card

Today I'm sharing the card I made for friends who's furry kid crossed the Rainbow Bridge 😢. 

I adhered the rainbow packing tape to white card stock, then die cut it with the bone shaped backing die. The packing tape is thin, and requires patience to apply as well as an acceptance of the inevitable wrinkles or stretching. You also have to run it through your machine several times as it doesn't die cut easily. But it's the look I wanted, so I persevered. 

Because I like black with rainbow colours, I created a Mini Slimline card base from black card stock, then cut another layer with a Divinity Designs scalloped rectangle for a tone on tone look. It's hard to see in the photos.  

Inside I added a layered bone shape to add a stamped sentiment and sign our name. I also die cut a small heart from a leftover piece of the rainbow tape cardstock on the card front. The rainbow heart resin hearts are by Doodlebug,

Gnome Love Valentine

Hello my crafty friends!  Last week I shared a pair of Mini Slimline cards featuring this cute 'She-Gnome' die and said that I made three of them. I cut the die from three coordinating patterned papers - including a red VELVET one, and Kraft cardstock then reassembled them alternating the papers. That gave me three She Ghome's to use and I used that third one on today's card.

The background was mostly created with scraps and journal cards from a variety pack by Doodlebug designs. This card is larger than A2 ... it's a 4 x 6" card that fits in an A6 envelope for mailing.

Floral Wreath Slimline Card

Hello my crafty friends!  Today I'm sharing a softly coloured Slimline card I plan on sending to a friend for Happy Mail.  I used some OLD patterned paper from my stash - the reverse sides of the patterned paper as the front sides have patterns on them that competed with the soft water colour look of the florals. 

The wreath and florals are from a suite by Pinkfresh Studio - this past summerI bought the Washi Tape, stamp and coordinating die last year and it was my first experience with using Washi Tape with a coordinating die. I love the soft colours and the pretty gold foiling on the Tape. You get so many floral elements - including the wreath - with one pass through the machine. ❤️  The Hello is also by Pinkfresh Studio, cut from white cardstock and gold mirror cardstock. I adhered the layers together with the gold on the top to make the word more sturdy.

Inside, I used one of the die cut wreath's that I had managed to cut 'off centre'. I was disappointed when I realized what I'd done, but hung onto it just in case I could use a portion of it somehow. Done and done! I can easily write a note on the pale green water coloured panel when I go to send the card.

January 2022 Sheetload of Cards - 2nd Set!

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Masculine Card Monday here on my blog. I knew I would make a second set of cards using the January Sheetload - it's such a versatile sketch. I have a walkthrough of my cards on YouTube:

I kept fairly close to the sketch, although I did slide the vertical piece more to the left on some of the cards - depending on how it looked to me. I had played around with turning the whole layout horizontally and that could be a fun look too if I make another set. I also turned the 2-1/4" white focal square into a diamond shape.

Everything I used is from my stash - nothing new used at all (remember, I'm classifiying 'new' as what I've purchased in the last 6 months). I will link what I can for you, and did show you the products I used in the YouTube video.

Once again I used the leftover pieces to create another card. Several of those leftover bits were used inside my cards but these three worked well to create a 10th card. Eight of the cards are Birthday Cards and will be donated to my Mom's old nursing home. Two say 'Oh, Hi' and I can write a note in those and send them off for Happy Mail.

Fun Friday Challenge - Photo Inspiration

Hello my crafty friends!  It's time for another Fun Friday Challenge at Your Next Stamp and this  one is a Photo Inspiration Challenge (see photo above).  This is what I came up with: 

I was inspired by the stack of books and the colours so I used the YNS Puffy Cloud Stencil to create stacks of clouds, and the striped shirt on the dog sold me on using this image for my Mini Slimline card.

Inside I added ink blending, more stencilling and a stamped sentiment.

Mini Slimline Gnome Valentine Cards

Hello my crafty friends!  Today I'm sharing two Mini Slimline Valentine cards, and I made them in both of the most popular Mini Slimline sizes!  The red card base is 3.5 x 6" and the white card base is 3.25 x 6.25". I took a photo from the back side so you could see the difference. Both of these sizes fit in a #8 envelope or as they are sometimes referred to a 6-3/4 envelope. Those are readily available in Canada and the US.

Since I will be using lots of older products on my cards in 2022 I thought I would start with the new items on my cards. The resin hearts from Doodlebug are new in my craft room, and it's funny how a small item like that can inspire me to pull out older papers etc. Since I'm counting anything purchased in the past 6 months as NEW, the She Gnome (linked below) is also new as I got her back in October. 

So the hearts inspired me to pull out the patterned paper/sticker package from Doodlebug that I've had for a couple of years and I was happy to see that it's still available to link for you. This is sort of a random package so you may not receive the exact same papers etc as I did - but then again you might! 

I cut the She Gnome from three different patterned paper scraps, red VELVET paper from the Doodlebug package, then some Kraft cardstock for the braids and pale pink cardstock for the noses. Then I re-assembled the gnomes so I had three different ones and saved one of them for a card I'll share next week. I took some close-ups in the hopes you can see how pretty the red velvet paper is.

 

The labels I used on both cards are meant for scrapbooking. They came on a 12 x 12" sheet in the package and I just punched them out to use on my cards. Can't get much easier than that!

Here is the inside of the cards, decorated with more patterned paper bits and pieces. These are 6x6" scraps that I didn't have a cover sheet for so I don't know who makes them. But I always hang onto smaller scraps of pretty paper like this as I know I can use them at some point.

The red card features the Happy Valentine's Day die by Karen Burniston, cut from red mirror cardstock. The stamped words are by Waffle Flower which is included in the Sending Love stamp set from Waffle Flower and fairly new to my craft room.

Mini Slimline Sympathy Card Duo

Hello my crafty friends!  I like to keep a few sympathy cards on hand so I made these two Mini Slimline ones for my stash. They were inspired by the pretty patterned paper, which is many years old from my stash. I thought the soft print and colours lended themselves to this type of card. 

These cards are a mix of old product and new - something you can expect a fair bit from me in 2022. I am learning a lot of crafters are wanting to see a mix of older items, as most of us have them but there is always a push to buy the newest, latest and greatest. Now I like new goodies as well, but I hope I can show you how combining the two will help you breathe new life into those older supplies sitting on the shelf. The new item on these cards is the pretty reverse scalloped frame from Kat Scrappiness ... everything else came from my stash.

One card has the Summer Posy, a die by Creative Expressions that I picked up last summer on a Flash Sale at R&R Scrapbooking. The other has a leaf spray from MFT and if it is still available I will link it below for you. The layered butterflies were created with a retired Stampin' Up punch, and the sentiment strips are by Taylored Expressions and linked below. 

Inside, I used a retired stamp set by Hero Arts and Catherine Pooler's Blackjack ink.

This card needed a little somethin' somethin' at the top right, so I added a single mirrored heart sequin. I am LOVING those things! ❤️
