Rainbows and ... Snowmen?

It's time for a new Challenge at Your Next Stamp - 

the Fun Friday Challenge #156 with the theme:  Winter Wonderland

Ever wonder what to do with those tags and cut aparts that often come in a 12 x 12" patterned paper pad? Here I have added stamps and dies and created two largish tags for the Fun Friday Challenge. I am not a fan of winter, rather not a fan of the bitter cold and icy roads etc. So far this year though, our winter has been mild and quite lovely - so I didn't want to make a wintery card. That is why I chose these colourful tags to work with.

These tags are large - 3-1/2 x 6-1/4" and could actually be used as post card style note cards! I don't generally write the standard 'to & from' on the back of my tags anyhow, as I usually write a message instead. 

After cutting out the tags from the 12 x 12" sheet of patterned paper, I adhered them to white card stock and cut them out again leaving a thin white border. I like a sturdy tag, and weight isn't an issue when it isn't going through the mail. I also did a little stamping on the back using the colour combination from the tags.

I used the same colours for these ADORABLE snowmen! These were released in November - just in time to make holiday cards & tags with. To hide the holly on the snowman's hat, I adhered 3 glittery hearts. These hearts are the fallaway pieces from the heart border at the bottom of the tag.

These tags will be so cute when adhered to a white or Kraft gift bag!

Ice Cream Cone Birthday Cards

Hello! Today I'm sharing a card duo, made to donate to my Mom's old nursing home. The cards started with these ice cream cone journal cards from a Project Life kit and some older patterned papers from my stash.

I added some black Nuvo Drops, a stamped sentiment and fishtail banners and my cards were done.

Celebrate Twisted Gatefold Card

Hello! I had been poking around on YouTube and saw this Twisted Gatefold idea. It's not a new idea by any means, and I was surprised by the variations of measurements there were. I made three different samples and decided this was the one I liked the best - it is by Judy Newsome and I have that blog post linked in the Supply list below. I have a walkthrough of my card and a tutorial on YouTube here: 

I used the Celebrate from the Celebrate Slimline Tag die by Crafty Meraki to decorate the front, as well as that beautiful paper ("That Paper", as it's referred to on Facebook) that was sent to me as a Random Act of Kindness by Marilyn W back in November.

Both the envelope and the inside panel were stamped with the Forever Fern images from Stampin' Up and I added a birthday sentiment inside from Studio Katia.

Initially I thought I had seen a video tutorial by Judy Neewsome, but after spending far too long scouring YouTube and coming up empty handed, I realized that it was a blog post I had seen and not a video! In order to give her credit though, I am linking her blog in the Supplies below.

This was a fun one, and I expect I will make more down the road.

Whisky Pop Up Birthday Card

Hello! I wanted to make a Slimline birthday card for our nieces new husband so I pulled out this older patterned paper pad. In with the bits and pieces, I found TWO of these card bases and inner cards that had been die cut years ago but obviously never finished. So I switched gears on what I had planned on doing and decided to use one of them up.

I added a strip of rainbow coloured tape and a die cut CHEERS to the card front. 

This card uses Karen Burniston's (retired) Pop 'n Cut system, where the BigZ Steel Ruled Die (6 x 12") die cut the A2 card base with rounded corners. Then you could swap out different inserts to die cut the Pop Up inner card. I loved that system and still have all the dies! So it was lots of fun for me to make this card, using older and much loved supplies.

I chose the Funky Label insert as well as the coordinating Funky Label Framelit dies and this fun Whisky Business stamp set to decorate the card inside. I went over the liquid in the glasses & decanter with Wink of Stella so it has a light shimmer.

I hope he gets a kick out of his card, and now that he is part of the family he will be getting a hand made card every year on his birthday!

Panda Tag

Hello! Today I'm sharing another tag ... this one is for our Grandson Zachary who LOVES Panda's. This tag is larger than most and I started with a piece of card stock that measured 3 x 6". I trimmed off each top corner to give me the tag shape then added a slightly smaller piece of brightly patterned paper. I made this tag back in December, but I was sharing holiday cards. Now I have those large Slimline Tag dies (both the LOVE and the CELEBRATE) from Crafty Meraki and will be using those to die cut my tag bases going forward.

I decided to personalize the tag with my label maker! NOTE:  Panda die doesn't cut out completely, instead it only cuts the ears, eyes and nose/mouth out. So if you cut it from white card stock, you can back the openings with black for a quick and easy Panda Face on your card panel. To use it like an embellishment though, you need to fussy cut it away from the card panel which I did here.

I was so happy with this tag, I stood it on my shelving unit across from where I stamp where it made me smile every time I was in my craft room working. I know Zachary is going to love it as well, when his birthday rolls around.

Crafty Meraki "Meraki Hugs" Release Week 3

Hello! I'm back today with two more cards for the next Crafty Meraki release called Meraki Hugs and I made both of them Slimline Cards!

My first card uses the new Three Room Studio Slimline die, cut from blue glittered card stock.
 

This is going to be a fun die and you can add any number of things inside those three windows. I chose to use the new Pixie Perfect stamp set - I adore those cute big eyed pixies!

The images were coloured with InkTense pencils and a water brush, and in addition to the shimmer from a Wink of Stella pen I added iridescent butterfly sequins! This card has LOTS of sparkle!

Inside are some penned details, strips of the blue glittered card stock and some lightly stamped images from the Pixie Perfect stamp set.

My second card for the release is a Fold Flap Slimline card and I also have a walkthrough on YouTube here: 

I have really been liking this Fold Flap type of Slimline and I chose two smaller images from the Pixie Perfect stamp set to make my card. I stamped the butterflies in rainbow colours. The LOVE & hugs comes from the Love Slimline Tag die set.

Inside I added a white panel of card stock that was lightly stencilled. For the stencil, I die cut the Craft A Round Slimline die from white card stock.

Measurements for my Fold Flap Slimline Card:

• Cut card stock 7 x 8.5"
• Putting the 7" edge at the top of your scoring tool, score at 1-1/4" and 3-1/2".
• Fold your card in half at the 3-1/2" scoreline, to form your card base
• Fold the 1-1/4" scored edge to the front of the card.
• NOTE:  I adhered the flap right to the card front using thin foam tape, but most of the A2 Fold Flap Cards I've seen utilize pretty patterned papers and have the card open as more of an accordion.

Heart & Butterfly Birthday Card

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a card that was finished early last year - I just kept bumping the post. I had been trying to use up a 12 x 12" pad of patterned paper so combined some of the smaller scrap pieces for the card front. I loved all the glitter on the floral panel!

I added some orange Nuvo Drops and a punched butterfly but I have no idea where the heart came from.

The greeting was stamped inside and this card was finished and ready to pop into the bag of Birthday Cards I donate to my Mom's old nursing home each month.

I don't have the notes on this card anymore, so no supply list today.

Trio of 'Faker Shakers'

Hello!  I have seen a lot of these 'Faux Shakers' on social media the past few months so thought I would finally try one. This is not a new idea by any means, but when new crafters stumble upon these older ideas they are new for them. That would explain the resurgence in this type of shaker. Also, I saw a video recently by a Stampin' Up demonstrator Rachel Tessman where she referred to them as Faker Shakers and I thought that was a fun name for them - way more fun than Faux Shakers. Of course that was AFTER I had filmed my video so I do call them Faux Shakers in my YouTube video & tutorial.

The Submarine Faker Shaker is the first one I made and I was tickled at how well it worked out - definitely the easiest  & fastest shaker card I've ever made. It's nice and flat too, because there was no foam tape used.

I cut the patterned paper to 5-1/4 x 4", inserted that inside my clear cello bag then added the sequins. NOTE I did not use any faceted gems in case they tore through the plastic when going through the mail. The submarine and sentiment were adhered on TOP of the finished shaker piece.

Inside, I used this wonderful school of fish stencil and a sentiment so I can send this card out for Happy Mail.

In the video I walk you through how to create two different Faker Shakers, the one with the giraffe was smaller than the polka dot cello bag I wanted to use. Here it is on the finished card.

This journal card also worked to make a Faker Shaker, but I haven't added it to the front of a card yet. 

I will be making more of these Faker Shakers for sure - they are so fun! I hope you enjoyed my video tutorial and will make some Faker Shakers too!

Dog Themed Birthday Z Fold Card

Hello!  I've been working on a set of dog themed Birthday Cards and today's share is the last one. I actually remembered to take a photo of all the cards together, which is shown above. It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog and today's card is a 'larger-than-A2'  Z-Fold card using a fun background die by Your Next Stamp. I have a walk through of my card on YouTube here:

While I would normally back the background die with a transparency for shine, on this one I did something different. I coloured the white backing panel with a red marker everywhere there was a die cut heart. This didn't take too long, I lined up the Paw Print Panel with the white backing panel and made a light dot in each heart area with a red sharpie marker. Then I set the Paw Print Panel aside and coloured circles around each dot. Then I adhered the coloured one behind the black and it was ready to adhere to my card. 

Note:  I could have coloured the hearts through the background panel, but the red Sharpie marker could leave marks on the black card stock so this was the way I chose to do it.

Below you can see the card opened, with a strip of the Playful Pets patterned paper on the centre section and a fussy cut dog and ball from a different sheet in the paper. While there is a coordinating stamp set and die set available, at this point I only have the paper. In fact, I had planned on using my 'shopping points' from my Stampin' Up demonstrator to get the stamp set and then I would purchase the dies - but she went MIA for weeks. I was worried about her and her family because, you know - COVID - but I turns out she was just fine and working on a new business venture so will no longer be selling SU. So ... 'shopping points' ... poof. 

Because the cards are all such different sizes, I think I will package them up in a white gift bag so I made a coordinating tag as well:

The dog is another one that was fussy cut from a sheet of the patterned paper.

Ten Paper Pumpkin Birthday Cards

Hello! These Birthday cards were created using the May 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit. Yes - 2015. Well over a year ago I discovered an online listing for the kit - unopened and including everything but the Ink Spot (small ink pad). I figured it would be a fun thing to try out as I'm always looking for Birthday themed card supplies so I bought it.

I was impressed with the quality of items in the kit, but of course I knew I wanted to spread out the patterned cards as far as possible and get as many cards as I could from the kit. This was long before I knew that 'Paper Pumpkin Alternates' were a thing! 

I pulled out some other supplies from my stash - since I'm not affiliated with Stampin' Up I'm free to use whatever I wish on my cards!

All in all I got 10 cards from the kit and still have several of the cute gift bags left to wrap up small gifts. These cards were donated to my Mom's old nursing home where I donate 25 Birthday cards each month.

I REALLY enjoyed making these cards, and I was impressed with the quality of items in the kit. So I started paying attention to the Paper Pumpkin kits that were being released and finally - more than a year after I received this one - I signed up to receive a kit each month. So fun! While I have used up everything in this kit of course, I still have the stamp set that I can continue to use on my cards.

No additional supply list for these, as I started on them months and months ago and I can't find my notes!
