Two Flower Shaped Cards

Today I'm sharing a pair of Flower Fold-It cards!

I am still building up my depleted stash of Thank You Cards, so this one is for my stash. I added the circle 'thank you' from a different Stephanie Barnard set and I like how the bright white stands out against the stencilled pink flower layer.

I love pink and orange together - I have to remember to use that combination more! I also added some enamel dots in white to this one. The green is a lovely pearlized card stock - I used the same card stock for both cards.

The next card is one I sent to my Mom to let her know I was thinking of her. I stencilled onto the yellow layer, then trimmed the 'love you more' from it's circle frame and added that to the centre.

A few more enamel dots and my card was ready to go.

Both cards open from the side. You have your choice of a side or top fold card when you use the Fold-It's but I'm not a big fan of top fold cards. While I like the LOOK of them, I do not like that they slide and collapse making them hard for the recipient to display and enjoy.

C4C484 Sketch Birthday Cards

It's Saturday and that means a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges Blog. Nicky Foden is joining us as our Guest Designer this month - you can find Nicky's blog here:  My Messy Craftroom. Maryann Einam is our hostess for May and she has a fun sketch for us this week.

I altered the sketch to work the the patterned paper I wanted to use. Actually I used some of my larger scraps for my cards today. Since the sketch worked so well with these scraps I ended up making three cards using it.

Here is the first card, with the adorable stamped owl. I added a party hat sticker as well.

I had fun colouring with the Chameleon Color Tone and Color Top markers. Most of the white circles and some of the coloured ones were sitting on my stamping table from other projects. It was so good to use them up - again, this sketch was perfect for that.

Inside I used the Chameleon Fineliners in a blue & green blend to write the message. Each of the cards is the same inside.

My second card today actually uses a piece I'd been holding onto since February. The striped panel was an envelope flap liner on one of the birthday cards I'd received. It was just too pretty to put in recycling and the sketch worked perfectly for it.

I have had these stamps since the Mesa Rubber Stamp Show in early March, and I've been itching to play with them. Another reason I made three cards - I just wanted to keep playing with the sweet stamps!

This is the third card - the kitty is also sporting a party hat sticker.

Finally, here is a look at all the cards together. I'll be giving these to our daughters for when the grandkids go to birthday parties.

Birthday Wishes Flip-It Card

Hello my crafty friends

It's Fun Fold Friday here on my blog today and I'm sharing a birthday card I made for a friend. I used the Circle Flip-It's die set and this pretty patterned paper along with the striped paper I love so much.

The Birthday Wishes Circle Word Die works perfectly on this Flip-It's as well as other Stephanie Barnard designed die sets. I added additional colour with Chameleon Color Tone markers.

I wrote a short message on the white stitched circle and sent the card on its way.

Sympathy Card Duo

Today I'm sharing a pair of Sympathy Cards. I like to have some on hand, as when you need them you usually don't feel like making one.

The first card uses several different products from Your Next Stamp, a delicate layered butterfly sticker and a stamped sentiment on a white on white card. The Sunburst Panel was adhered to the card front with foam tape for some added dimension and I tucked in a couple of gold Gumdrops (enamel dots) for interest.

This is the inside:

I had just received word that an elderly friend had passed away, so I wanted to make her family a card as well.

I used the front panel of a black and white butterfly printed A2 card, and added a stamped and layered  sentiment block as well as a scalloped border.

The butterfly was punched from the black and white printed paper that was created to match, and I added colour with Chameleon Color Tone markers. Then I popped it up with foam tape.

The inside of this one was the same as the first.

Pair of Pop-Up Gift Card Holders

Today I'm sharing two Pop-Up Gift Card holders, using a die set by Lynda Kanase. I love how easy it is to change the look and personalize these Gift Card Holders, and the fact that they pop-up is so cool!

For this first card, I lightly stencilled a sunburst onto a stitched white panel, then added two punched balloons and a penned balloon string. It needed something else so I added the penned YAY and coloured it in with Chameleon Color Tone markers.

The label dies come with the gift card set. Note, this is a gift card I use for photos only.

The second Gift Card Holder uses up some odds and sods that have been hanging around my craft room for too long.

Butterfly Shaped Card

Hello my crafty friends

This was the first time I used this Butterfly Fold-It's die set, and I think it turned out cute. The main die cuts an A2 sized butterfly shaped card. I kept it simple this time adding some sparkle with glimmer card stock body & antenna as well as sequins.

I wrote my Mom a short note and popped it into the mail for her.

It looks so nice on her hall table - the light captures all the sparkle in the body and antennas, and the sequins shimmer as well. Another one of those cards that is just better in real life.

Cactus Birthday Duo

Hello my crafty friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog! I quite like Concord & 9th Turn About background stamps, and when they came out with a cactus/succulent one of course I added it to my collection. I stamped two background panels using shades of blue, teal and green for my cards today.

I used nesting circle dies to create the green frame, backed it with white card stock and added a stamped and die cut cactus from Taylored Expressions. The words are from the same TE set and they are stamped on a stitched fishtail banner.

I feel like a card with a stamped background is more special than one with patterned paper, which doesn't really make any sense. But I will need to hold onto these two for awhile before I can part with them for my Mom's nursing home.

Succulent Birthday Pop-Up Card

Today I'm sharing the card I made for our middle daughter's birthday. I ADORE this lovely succulent patterned paper so that is what inspired my card today.

I used Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-Up inside, more of the lovely patterned paper some fussy cut elements and some printed embellishments from the same line.  I used the centre of the 12 x 12" patterned paper for the card, and saved the edges for a second card and the front of this card.

I stippled two different colours onto the Happy Birthday die cut and the card was done.

Lynda Kanase Design Team Challenge and C4C483

It's time for Lynda Kanase's Design Team Challenge, and Lynda asked us to use her Flower Basket, Card In A Box for our projects today. I used several different die sets by Lynda for my Mother's Day Card, and since it tied in with the Crazy4Challenges theme today I'm rolling them both into a single blog post.

Maryann'e Challenge this week is:  Tomorrow is Mother's Day in Australia, USA, Canada and many other parts of the world. Create a card with flowers.

This pretty card is for my Mom for Mother's Day. I assembled the Flower Basket, Card in a Box using older patterned paper from my stash. Lynda has a post with a tutorial on assembling this die set HERE.  You have an option to cut a 'basket weave' from the front of your Card in a Box if you want, but I wanted to try something different so my Card in a Box front was solid. 

I've said before how much I like Lynda's Spring Things die set, so I used some of those dies along with the flowers and greenery from the Card in a Box set and cut a bunch of flowers and flower centres from the same patterned paper and was able to use up a bunch of the scraps! I mixed and matched the flowers and flower centres, then adhered them into my Card in a Box as shown in the tutorial.

I couldn't resist tying a pretty ribbon around the basket handle. I used Lynda's Photo Frame, Lovely to die cut a frame with the 'I Heart You' sentiment (included with the die set) and adhered the frame to an Instax photo of my Mom and I. That was matted and adhered to the front of my Card in a Box and I added one of the leftover flower blooms to the upper left corner.

See the side squares? This is where I changed up the project a little bit. Since I used patterned paper instead of card stock, my basket was a little 'wussy' and didn't display as straight as I'd like.  So I die cut squares from a different piece of patterned paper in the pack and adhered them onto each side. Worked like a charm - it's nice and sturdy now.  Adding those squares to the sides changes how the card folds up for mailing though, and will now require a larger envelope and extra postage.

Another option would be to score these squares along the fold line that is underneath it on the basket die and continue the way Lynda designed the die.  I expect it will get a lot of handling by the care staff etc and I just wanted it to be nice and sturdy. Of course if I had used card stock instead of patterned paper this would have not been an issue at all!

I added a stamped 'Happy Mother's Day' to the back side and that is where we will sign our name. Since the flowers are also visible from the back, I die cut an additional three large blooms and glued them to the back of the flowers, sandwiching the flower stem in between for a clean look.

I added dimensional sparkly enamel dots to each of the flower centres, and a small gold pearl to the butterfly, which is attached to the basket with an acetate strip. Since I am hand delivering this card to my Mom, I didn't need to worry about bulk and extra postage.

I chose a 6" square envelope and wanted to show that the card indeed folds completely flat for mailing.

One more look at my dimensional Flower Basket, Card in a Box. I can't wait to give it to my Mom tomorrow! It will look so pretty on the table in her room.
